To override the profit centre derived from account assignments

Hi SAP GURUS
I had assigned a profit centre in 3KEH in ECC6.0 (New G/L is not activated, hence using 3KEH) for a particular G/L account.
But when i do a MIRO, the profit centre is derived from the PM order.
I want the settings in 3KEH to override the Profit centre derived from PM order.
Kindly guide me to overcome the issue.
Regards
R.Karthigayan

Hi,
As you need to only change the profit centre , when you have a PM order in MIRO. Then i would suggest you use a Validation & Subsitution Rules.
Validation should check whether a MIRO has PM order or not, If yes then it should do the PC Change.

Siddique

  • How to overwrite the profit center derived

    Hi,
I am posting sd document which is creating the accounting doc. In this the profit center is derived for all the line item . Now for certain accounts I want to attach fixed profit center & not the profit center derived from earlier line item. When I am creating substitution or derivation for this it is not overwritting the derived profit center.
How can i overwrite the derived profit center.
Please help us to resolve the issue.
    CHEERS

    Hi,
The Profit center is derived either from Master data or from the configuration.
    The master datas are
    1) Material Master
    2) Cost centers
The configuration it copied from the OKB9 for default profit center for the Cost element.
So when you post the SD document this will be related to the Material only,so check in material master.

  • Why we maintain the profit centre in MM module?

    Hello,
I want know, why we maintain the profit centre in MM module?
    Ram Rathode.

You will find this useful -
A profit center is a section of a company treated as a separate business. Thus profits or losses for a profit center are calculated separately. A profit center manager is held accountable for both revenues, and costs (expenses), and therefore, profits. What this means in terms of managerial responsibilities is that the manager has to drive the sales revenue generating activities which leads to cash inflows and at the same time control the cost (cash outflows) causing activities. This makes the profit center management more challenging than cost centre management. Profit center management is equivalent to running an independent business because a profit center business unit or department is treated as a distinct entity enabling revenues and expenses to be determined and its profitability to be measured. Business organizations may be organized in terms of profit centers where the profit center's revenues and expenses are held separate from the main company's in order to determine their profitability. Usually different profit centers are separated for accounting purposes so that the management can follow how much profit each center makes and compare their relative efficiency and profit. Examples of typical profit centers are a store, a sales organization and a consulting organization whose profitability can be measured.

  • Profit centre derivation rule to derive profit centre based in Business plc

    Hi,
We required "profit centre derivation rule to derive profit centre based in Business place + 9000 in such case were vendor & customers are involved and current profit center derivation logic doesnu2019t work."
For this we have mapped a substitution pertaining to all co. codes based on all the relevant posting keys for Vendor and Customer where in system will replace the profit center based on business place given in line item as Business Place + 9000. For happening this we have written a User Exit and attached the same with this substitution through t.code OBBH. Entire hting we mapped in our testing client.
But now the problem is whatever posting keys we have defined in our substitution are being used in normal payment and clearing also.
Eg : In payment document vendor is debited vide posting key No 25. where the profit centre is derived based on the invoice that gets selected.
In Normal Payment and clearing transactions, the profit centre is derived based on the profit center in offsetting line items (as per New GL Logic) currently.
Now our business requires that where ever the system is unable to derive a profit centre for vendor and customer (And giving the error " Balancing field profit center in line item 001 not filled") transactions, then at that time profit center for that line item should replace with logic Business Place + 9000 (here business place is the business place contained by that line item in which error is coming for profit center.).
How to map the same in the system through substitution / exit or any other method? Awaiting for your inputs pls. Thanks in advance.

    Still not answered.
Requesting to give some clue for the same.

But in F110 how can I get the profit centre (cost obect) selected ?

    Hi
I assume you are referring to the PC for the Bank account?
You can define the default PC in 3KEH.

  • Sales Documents and Profit Centre and GL Accounts

Currently a when we create a sales document for a plant, that document is posting to a specific GL account (Cash on Hand account) and profit centre. In VKOA, the Account Assignment Group is assignment to a GL Account, and that AAG is assigned to the material master. I want to find out how SAP is currently determining to which profit centre and GL Account it is posting to. The only thing that I can get is the Plant and sales office in the Sales document. I want to know the determination factor

Have you checked in OKB9 ??

  • Profit Centre Derivation - User Exit

We have set up a substitution that is based on the sold-to party - i.e. we use data on the sold-to party to derive the profit centre (the profit centre is based on the country of the customer).  However, ideally we would like to base it on the country of the ship-to party - but this data is not available to us in the user exit and, because the order is not yet saved, there is no table to read to get it.
    Any suggestions?

  • Change the profit centre in the cost centre master after a year

    Hi All,
Could you'll please let me know whether it was possible to change the profit centre in the cost centre master and if i did what will be the implications.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vandana

    Refer transaction code OKEG.
You can maintain master data for cost centers, cost elements, activity
types, and business processes with time dependencies. You can make
changes at any time for any given time interval. Data storage also takes
place with a time reference. In this way, a master data record can have
multiple database records storing different information.
The smallest interval is one day. To ensure data consistency, you cannot
change each field daily. The timeframes in which you can change a field
depend on the field functions, which are fixed by the system and cannot
be changed. Master data maintenance includes an automatic check for each
    field's time-based consistency, resulting in individual time-based
    maintenance for each field.
    The following dependencies are supported:
    o   Not time-based
    o   Day-based
    o   Period-based
    o   (Fiscal) year-based
This function provides an overview of the time dependencies of
individual master data fields during master data maintenance, along with
checks and storage of consistency timeframes. You find this information
    in the "Time dependency" column.
If you use fields requiring characteristics greater than one day and
which are changed for the system lifetime of the object, the system
automatically creates a new database record for this processing
interval, and changes the time-based validity of existing records. The
change is logged in the master data record with the time reference.
However, a great number of changes in multiple timeframes will result in
a correspondingly great number of data records.
Fields which you can change freely (indicated in the DAY column) can
possess different time dependencies only if you mark them additionally
as historically relevant. This activates the time-based updating for the
    records.
Object 1000 has one master data record created with a fiscal year of 12
periods and the cost center name AAAAAAAAAA. During master data
maintenance, you change the cost center name in period 5 to BBBBBBBBBB.
The system reacts with one of two options.
o   "Name" is marked as historically relevant. The existing master data
record for periods 1 - 12 must now become three records:
         1000   01-04   AAAAAAAAAA
         1000   05      BBBBBBBBBB
         1000   06-12   AAAAAAAAAA
o   "Name" is not marked as historically relevant. The existing master
data record remains intact, with the name changed for the entire
         existence of the record:
         1000   01-12   BBBBBBBBBB

  • Lock the profit centre change via CJ20N and CNMASS tcodes

    Hi Friends,
I have a requirement where in user should not be allowed to change the profit centre of Project Definition and WBS via tcode CJ20N and change the profit centre of Project Definition, WBS, Netowok and Activity via tcode CNMASS.
I could achieve the profit centre lock for PD, WBS and Network by Implementing BADIs PROJECTDEF_UPDATE, WORKBREAKDOWN_UPDATE and WORKORDER_UPDATE.. The implemented BADI 'WORKORDER_UPDATE 'is reachable while changing profit centre of Activiy as well. But the details of the changes of activity is not visibile inside BADI.
If anybody has any input for this, it would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    RK

    Thanks Martin,
Small scenario here..I have created a Validation and In prerequisite of Step001, I have kept a condition Transaction Code = CNMASS. Structure AFVGD is visible.
I have created an Exit PLOCK, but when I keep a Break Point in the ABAP Routine of PLOCK(Both soft and hard Break Points), the Control doesnt stop in those break points when I run the transaction CNMASS.
I think some understanding in the concept is missing in my part. Please suggest to help me fill this gap.

  • Profit Center Derivation : Asset Accounting (New General Ledger)  ?

I have configured & activated new GL Accounting in my system (ECC 6.0). All my splitting & derivation is working except for transactions related to assets. Whenever I try to do a posting against asset, I get following generic error.
Balancing field "Profit Center" in line item 001 not filled
    Message no. GLT2201
    Diagnosis
The field Profit Center marked as balancing is not filled with any value in line item 001, even after document splitting.
    System Response
    The document cannot be posted.
    Procedure
    First check your entries.
    Additional causes could be:
No value can be derived for this field from the current document data.
You have entered a document type that is not designed for this business purpose.
I have done & checked the following :
    1. given cost center in asset master which derives the business area. the profit center is given in the cost center master
    2. checked the field status group for the asset recon. a/c, posting keys 70, 75 where PC is optional.
    3. Confirmed that doc type AA and asset recon ac are characterised for splitting.
I am clueless why is the asset not taking the profit center during transactions.
any welcome would be deeply appreciated. ?
    pls answer  ??
    Moderator: Please, search SDN

Hi, you need to activate cost center in AA,and make it optional for account and posting key, then PC'd derive from Cost center
Also check While posting F-90 profitcenter is blank and Grey mode

  • Profit center derived from business area

    Hello,
We are having a problem with one of our business areas.  We are posting F-53 disbursements from a custom program (using a BDC).  When we fill in the initial screen, we currently fill the business area field (GSBER).  The profit center (PRCTR) is then derived from the business area.  This is working for all of our business areas except one.  For this one particular business area, an invalid profit center (one that doesn't exist) is somehow being derived.  Where is the derivation determined?  I've seen transactions 3KEH, 3KEI, and 1KE4 all mentioned in reference to derivation rules; unfortunately I can't access any of these (no authorization), so I can't even look to see whether we have any entries there or if those transactions are relevant to this problem.  If someone can tell me which transaction or table would control the business area to profit center derivation, I can at least have someone with the correct authorizations take a look.  I was able to look in FMDERIVE, and I don't see any relevant strategies there.
    Thanks,
    April Erickson
Solved: Entries were in 3KEI.  The entries there had been moved to test and production, but the corresponding profit center entry in CEPC had not.

    Hi sachin
Documnet type RE is given business transaction varaint 'vendor invoice'.
In this input tax account item category is assigned in the splitting rule.
In fact, system inherits BA and PC from opposite line item.
But when we substitute other PC in input tax account then the system stops inheriting for BA also.
So, my question is whether inheritance will apply to all characteristics only or it can be applied for one characteristic ( BA) and other charactriestic PC can be derived in another way using substitution.
