To Passing image from Teststand to simple GU

Dear All:I'm having a problem of getting the vision image from Teststand to simple IO GUI.
One of the step of the Teststand sequence is to snap a photo from the cam and process the matching,
And I store it in the teststand local variable (Type:LabviewIOcontrol)So I can use that in other steps,
that works fine. But how could I get the Teststand image variable from the Labview simple IO GUI??
(I understand how to transferring string, number, or array between Teststand and Labview by using UI-MSG. just have no idea how to deal with object reference to get the image data I need to display in the GUI)
Any example or idea will be really helpful for me.

Dear Sir: Hi, In fact I am just new in teststand, and the reason I use LabviewIOcontrol as image type.
Because when i output the image, the teststand display the type is LabviewIOcontrol .
I did a test that I create a sequence file with 2 steps in it.
The first step, the vi reads a vision image from file and store it to teststand local variable (Type: IabviewIOcontrol).
And the second step, I dump the local variable to an indicator within another VI and check the image are transferred or not.
It works well, just I don't know how to change the Device Name and Session Number to image in Labview.....
I think I will take your second advice to build up the function first and try to find out the solution later on...

Just wondering is there any way I can pass dynamically images from my WDA app to my interactive form through an XML interface?
I can upload my images into the MIME repository during design time, can I get the XSTRINGs of these, bind it to a context attribute then use the XML interface into the Interactive Form and have it bind that into an image field ? (do I need to convert XSTRINGs into base64 encoded formats?)
Sorry I'm a bit confused, a lot of the blogs I've seen all use ABAP dictionary based interfaces, is this the only way you can pass graphics from WDA into an Adobe Form dynamically?
Also, what do we need to do to pass values from our WDA context into an ABAP dictionary interface form?

Hi Danny,
If you use file upload UI element in webdynpro, it will store the file in xstring format. Am not sure about images, but i think it will upload images also.
what do you mean by ABAP dictionary interface form? is it adobe form? if yes, then in your case quite simple.
first use upload ui element then read the xstring attribute value then try to bind the same value to datasource property of adobe interactive form.

Passing variables from TestStand

I appologise for another probably stupid question: I would like to use a variable / parametre (which ever you choose to call it) within my method. It appears that all of the templates are configured for outputs only. eg:-
public void DummyFunctionName(out double[] measurements, out String reportText, out bool errorOccurred, out int errorCode, out String errorMsg)
I have tried creating my own method with in types but it seems that the format for methods is fixed someplace else; maybe in the Interop.api ? I don't know ?
I have also verified that it is impossible to pass into something that is defined as out.

Maybe I wasnt clear in my question: I am trying to create methods who take parametres and return variables. If I change any of the types in the template to be an "in". eg.:-
public void DummyFunctionName(in double[] measurements, out String reportText, outbool errorOccurred, outint errorCode, out String errorMsg)
This is the response from the compiler:-

Does anybody know how to pass images from DVT framework 2.6.1 to LabVIEW 7.0?

I have a DVT camera running inspections and a Laptop running Framework 2.6.1, I have the ActiveX Controls version 1.2.2 and I can communicate with Visual Basic 6.0 but not with LabVIEW 7.0. I am using an Automation Refnum pointing to the DVT SID and invoking the methods to connect, display images and disconnect, but out of the Automation Refnum, I am getting a 0 value which is genarating an error 97 in LabVIEW. The question is, Does somebody knows how to do it right?, or if there are known issues that will not allow it?

How can I take a single selected image from a slideshow to pass to another page?

I have a slideshow of several images from which a user needs to select one (for example the image that is featured in a lightbox after cicking the thumbnail) and then go to another page for further details on that image, with the same image displayed again, and where I want to embed some html to offer further options based on that selected image. How do I pass the name of the object from one page to another? How do I detect that a user has selected an image?
I have tried setting each image in the lightbox as a hyperlink to a new page, and also tried setting its caption as a hyperlink, but neither of those ideas seem to work (at least in Preview).
Any suggestions please? I am working in Muse CC 2014.

Creating a hyperlink from the text caption should work. Try previewing: File/Preview Site in Browser to test.
(I tested it using both Preview and File/Preview Site in Browser and it did link to the page I assigned)

Certainly it is unusual that you can still see the tables available in your MS Access database but cannot see the columns? I am assuming you are configuring an Open Statement step and are trying to use the ring-control to select columns from your table?
Can you tell me more about the changes you made to your file when you 'changed' it with MS Access? What version of Access are you using? What happens if you try and manually type in an 'Open Statement Dialog's SQL string such as...
"SELECT UUT_RESULT.TEST_SOCKET_INDEX, UUT_RESULT.UUT_STATUS, UUT_RESULT.START_DATE_TIME FROM UUT_RESULT"
Is it able to find the columns even if it can't display them? I am worried that maybe you are using a version of MS Access that is too new for the version of TestSt
and you are running. Has anything else changed aside from the file you are editing?

Pass object reference from TestStand to C#

Hi,
I have created a GUI in .NET which i invoke in TestStand (through a custom step type). User can enter a object reference teststand variable in the UI input expression box. So i need to get the object value in that variable and use it to call some .net functions. To get the values from expression box of UI and put in TestStand step variable i use:
         PropertyObject.SetValInterface("Step.TestStationObj", 0, tsexprTestStationObj.DisplayText.Trim()); To check the value in the step variable if i do:
         MessageBox.Show("TestStation obj after setting:",PropertyObject.GetValInterface("Step.TestStationObj",0).ToString());
But i do not get any value. Guess it is null. Is this a correct way? My intension is to get the value corresponding to a teststand object reference and pass it to C#. The C# UI control is of type NationalInstruments.TestStand.Interop.UI.Ax.AxExpressionEdit

Passing telnet session between LabVIEW calls from TestStand

From TestStand I am calling VI's from telnet.llb.
In one TestStand step am opening a telnet session to an IP address and collecting the telnet connection (U32). In the next TestStand step I pass the telnet connection to a telnet write VI but get this error.
"Dequeue Element in Acquire Semaphore.vi:1->Telnet Write.vi:1->Telnet Write.vi.ProxyCaller"
The telnet open, write, read, and close work great if I pass the telnet session number within the same VI. But I need to keep the session open between calls from TestStand because one huge VI is not feasible.

how can i print a boarding pass image file from passbook?

I do not believe that Passbook supports printing. You can email, but not print. Then again I'm not sure what it actually emails, if that is a graphic of the card or what. I'm going to try it with my Starbuck's card, but there is no setting for printing within Passbook.
EDIT: Actually it sends the email as an attachment for a Passbook card file, that cannot be handled by my computer. Hope that answers your question.

Passing variables into CVI from TestStand.

Is there a different way to send variables into CVI from TestStand other than the input buffer? Parsing that string is annoying and bulky. Isn't there an easier way?

Can i use labview to capture and process images from ip cameras connected to a switch.

Hi,
i have more then one ip cameras conneted in LAN by a switch. i have a PC conneted to same switch. is it possible to capture images from these ip cameras and process them(for example performing simple barcode scan or QR-code scan or OCR)? Which IP cameras will be supported?

There is functionally no difference whether the camera is connected directly to the system or via a switch. Both should work the same. The only real requirement that you'd need to care about is whether the switch can pass multicast UDP traffic correctly (this is used for network discovery of IP cameras). Generally all unmanaged switches (probably what you are using) will treat multicast traffic identical to broadcast traffic, but some managed switches/routers may need to be configured to pass multicast.

Can you edit multiple images from a PDF in photoshop?

I scan a lot of old publications with images and drawings. The images are in greyscale, but my scanner produces better results set to color. As such, I have to convert the images to greyscale in Photoshop from Acrobat. I have several PS actions that make this process easier, but I wish there was a way to select multiple images from a page or PDF file and run the actions on them (a batch) instead of one at a time. Is there? Or perhaps another method than what I am doing?

I recommend that you scan first, save as TIFF, do any desired correction, and only then make PDFs. Scanning direct to PDFs is great for simple uncomplicated workflows, but a liability when correction is needed.

I'm fairly new to ActiveX and am having a hard time doing a seemingly simple thing: getting a named image from an Excel file and saving it as a .jpg. I have seen similar things done for Excel chart objects, but as I understand it images are "shapes" in Excel and I've been unable to find the right method to extract a shape. Please, if anyone could take a look at the attached folder and tell me if I am on the right track, if there is a better way to do this, or if there is a way to do this at all, it would be helpful. Note that I don't care how efficient a strategy is developed - if I need to save to an intermediate file of another type, that's fine. The only goal is to be able to extract this image and save it with one mouse-click and no manual intervention.
Folder contains: 1 example Excel file containing the image named "Picture 1"; 1 vi showing the method I've found for exporting Excel charts as .jpg's; and 1 vi with the progress I have made so far trying to pick the image from the Excel file and save it as a .jpg.
