To write russian characters in a flash movie
Hello
I have a text file where I store my menu values. It works
fine, but when I
program the menu in russian (cirylic alphabet) where letters
are stored like
this жст (every &#number is
a character, I assume) my
flash movie doesn't show me the russian characters. How can I
indicate to
the flhas that these are russian characters? Or any other
idea about how
can I solve this?...
Thanks a lot!!
No .. not unless you keep your own array of label names and
corresponding
frame numbers, and look up for yourself where you want to go
to based on the
current frame number.

Reading a TXT file from a Flash Movie
Using "LoadVariables" to establish a connection between the
running Flash program and a text file in the same folder works just
as expected with no problems. I am on a Windows machine and using
the recipe from the fabulous help system.
The problem - yes there IS a problem - arises when the text
file contains special Danish characters.
The odd part here is, that everything works fine from inside
Falsh using "Test Movie", but not when publishing the movie and
launching from inside a browser (both IE and Firefox).
The help system says, that data should be URL-encoded. Trying
that (characters %e6, %f8 and %e5) does not fix anything. The input
is read, but the offending character is gobbled up along with the
two next characters, or the program simply hangs.
Any suggestions?[No i didn't do that in my first series of tries. Following
your suggestion I did that (embedding Latin I, that should contain
all the necessary characters), but it didn't do the trick. Actually
it prevented my writing to a dynamic text field intended to
interact with the user.
Using English cahracters only it worked fine (with invisible
text ;-) ).
Using Danish characters I got the same result: Not working
properly.
Using the Danish characters from inside Flash to fill in text
fields (static, dynamic and input) normally works fine, so I am
puzzled - still -
Font problem while printing russian characters
Hello,
I have a weird problem. When I print an exported crystal report document which has been exported by Crystal Reports for Eclipse 2.0 as PDF document, the printout misses a lot of russian characters. This area with the missing characters just stays blank, not even question marks or something similar is shown. It seems that the half of all characters of the document is not shown.
(But the document does not contain any missing characters when you just open it in Adobe Acrobat. You only see this behaviour when you print it. That's why we didn't recognize this error for a long time because we didn't print it but just opened it with Acrobat Reader)
I have an original document with russian characters which is saved as docx. When I export this document with MS Word to PDF and print this document, no characters are missing. So it's no printer problem.
There is a difference in both documents:
This document, where all characters work, has the following properties set in the font information tab:
Arial
type: TrueType
encoding: Ansi
original font: ArialMT
original font type:: TrueType
The document which has been created with Crystal Reports for Eclipse 2.0 just contains the following data:
Arial
type: TrueType
encoding: included
(I hope the right translation for this option set is "included" because my version of Adobe Acrobat is a non english version).
What exactly happened to this document. How can I solve this that russian fonts will be print correctly?
Regards,
MarkusBy the way. I create the files in this way:
private void createFile(String outFileName) {
try {
ByteArrayInputStream result = clientDoc.getPrintOutputController().export(ReportExportFormat.PDF);
File newFile = new File(outFileName);
FileOutputStream output = new FileOutputStream(newFile);
int bytesRead = 0;
byte[] byteArray = new byte[10000];
while ((bytesRead = result.read(byteArray)) != -1) {
output.write(byteArray, 0, bytesRead);
output.flush();
output.close();
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace(); -
Need some advice on how to make this Flash movie
I have 5 flash movies which are all exported swf files from Camtasia. Now I have to design a Flash movie which has 5 Icons on a blank screen which point to each of these movies. When the user clicks on one movie the exported swf from Camtasia should play and when its finished it shoudl go back to Main Menu page.
a) Is it possible to include a controllable progress bar for a SWF movie
I am just looking for advice , like do this and do that. I shall try and write the code myself.
cheers
peanutlife.You may find the VideoPlayer class helpful:
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/fl/video/VideoPlayer.html#includ eExamplesSummary
There's some sample code there which shows you how to put a video player on a movie and play something. You would just need to add some buttons and stuff. That example is Actionscript 3. Things will be different if you have an older version of Flash. -

Shahid HussainHi users,
Thanks for reply.
Actually the problem is -
For portrait dimensions are -
width 20
height 30
for landscape , obviously it will be
width - 30
height - 20
Thus , for second page - table width is 20 while page width is 30 and so 10 cm space remains blank on right side of page
user says that right side should not be blank, rather you extend table width to whole page width.
thats where the problem is -
Embedding a Flash movie on a secure page
Hi,
I've used the Dreamweaver CS3 wizard to embed a Flash movie
in an ASP page and it works fine.
However, when I move the page on a SSL connection the Flash
movie won't display. If I change all the
http:// references to https:// in the scripts
(like I saw on an old post) I only get a white box instead of the
movie.
Please see the attached bit of code.
The old post I read was referring to an old version of Flash
but I doubt that it would make a difference?
Thanks.Has the Scripts folder been uploaded and pathed properly?

Editable regions and Flash movie
Hi,
I am trying to insert a flash movie into an editable region
of a child page, but I keep getting the following error: "Making
this change would require changing code that is locked by a
template or translator. The change will be discarded."
I have read previous posts about the same issue, but none of
them answers my question. I tried creating a new template and a
child from it as a test deleting the css links (like some one
suggested to do) to try to identify the troubled css and I kept
getting the same error in the new pages. I hope someone can help to
identify the issue and the solution. The region where I want to
insert the movie is called "FinalMainContent."
BTW, I do not know how to write code... Sorry!
Thanks, in advance, for any help you can provide!

Playing Flash Movie .swf files in iWeb
This is my second post. The first was about generally not being able to publish my website in iWeb in Argentina. Discovered it was due to the 12 kilobytes a second upload speed!
This query is about trying to get a flash movie with .swf extension to play on my homepage in iWeb
www.edgold.co.uk
Ive made a flash movie on my girlfriends PC. Why? Because she has Flash installed.
Ive transferred it to my Mac and it plays with a programme I downloaded called SWF & FLV Player - no problem there. For the love of trying I cant get it to play.
Ive gone to 'Insert' in iWeb, clicked on Choose and selected the swf file. Ive put it in position on my homepage and published it. Then Ive opened the HTML page thats found in iDisk using TextEdit so that I can change the html to get the flash plug in to play it.
I found all the details on website by 'Vertical Moon'
http://www.verticalmoon.com/tutorials/general/iweb/iweb.htm
Ive followed every step to the letter but where they seem to slip up is that the swf file isnt played by QuickTime. QuickTime on my Mac doesnt want to know! If it was played by QT then I'd have a chance to change the html from 'writeMovie1()' to writeflash1() but there is no sign of that code in the html file let alone having to change it in JavaScript.
At the end of the day Ive got an swf file (Flash) that I want to stiuck on the front page of my website to play over and over. Ive spent over 18 hours on this non-stop and its time I called it a day.
Please can someone tell me how to get iWeb to make friends with it!
Ive looked at lost of other sites about free Video code generating but none of them work!
Cheers

Thanks for replying and the great info on getting a QuickTime to play automatically.
Please can you continue to help as Im having no luck.
I will write below briefly whats happening.
I made a QuickTime in iPhoto as was suggested. I dropped it into iWebs 'Media' button under the 'Movies' tab, in a folder. I then dropped the QT file onto my web home page. It shows with a control bar at the bottom of its window for playing it.
I published it OK. The live website shows the QuickTime movie BUT you have to click play to start it. So I then I opened the html file in iDisk in TextEdit.
I tried and tried to find the html code for the QT Movie. I read and re-read the whole html file from top to bottom and found no sign of the QT Movie. Then I went to 'Edit' and 'Find' in TextEdit and typed Movie. It came up with a bit of code which says writeMovie1();
I guess that this means it is talking about THE movie in question but there is no more code to
do with 'true' or 'false'. If it said false Id change to true but writeMovie1(); just looks like this:
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
writeMovie1();
--></script>
stuck almost at the bottom of the html file page.
Please help...remember Im using iWeb 06
Thanks...I hope Im close to solving this now. All I want is to play the QT automatically.

IDoc to File - Russian Characters not in UTF-8 format - File Receiver
Hello,
My scenario is Idoc to File. My SAP sender system is a Unicode system and my RFC connection to XI is also set to a unicode connection. My idoc is sent to XI OK and whenever I look at the payload in SXMB_MONI, I see the Russian characters OK, but the problem is when the file gets created.
My receiver system wants the file in UTF-8 format. When the file gets created, the Russian characters are not in UTF-8 encoding format. For example, the Russian chars look like (but without the spaces inbetween): Ð # Ð µ Ñ # Ð ¶ Ð ° Ñ # Ð µ Ð » Ñ ...
Instead, the chars should look like: Держатель
My file type in my file receiver comm channel is binary and I am also using the AF_Modules/XMLAnonymizerBean with anonymizer.encoding of utf-8.
Can someone please help me determine the problem?
Thank you,
RhondaHi Rhonda,
Hope you have set the following for your file receiver adapter :
1. Transfer Mode is set to Binary,
2. File Type Text,
3. Encoding ISO-8859-1( for Western European Latin ).
Inorder to recognize russian Character, try as follows :
Your sender idoc after coming into Pi has XML encoding declaration 'UTF-8'.
Write a simple XSLT mapping to change the value of the attribute "encoding" to "ISO-8859-1" in the output XML of message mapping . Include this XSLT map as the second mapping step in your interface mapping.
First step in your interface mapping will be your already existing message mapping.
An example of the XSL code :
<?xml version='1.0'?>
<xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
<xsl:output method='xml' encoding='ISO-8859-1' />
<xsl:template match="/">
<xsl:copy-of select="*" />
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>
Iam not sure whether Russian language encoding has ISO-8859-2 (Eastern European Latin) or
ISO-8859-1( for Western European Latin )...pls check out !
or you can also do java mapping instead of above mentioned xslt mapping if you are comfortable with java code !

How do I tell my flash movie which frames to display depending on the page?
Hi,
I'm creating a php website with a flash movie that
incorporates the navigation. The movie shows an image for each
section and this image doubles as the navigation. The website uses
the same php template throughout the site for each page.
Here's the thing: I would like each page within the site to
display the rollover / active state of the section that the page is
in, rather than the movie playing fully each time the visitors
visits a different page.
The .fla file and .swf can be viewed here:
http://preview.hosts.co.uk/~swinsidelodge-hotel.co.uk/templates/swinside/img/header.fla
http://preview.hosts.co.uk/~swinsidelodge-hotel.co.uk/templates/swinside/img/header.swf
So when a visitor is on a page in the hotel section, I want
the flash movie to play frames 201 to 205 and when in the booking
section frames 221 to 225 rather than the whole movie.
Is there any way of doing this?
Thanks,
KonradThanks Gorka,
I looked it up and found this useful summary:
http://probertson.com/articles/2006/12/14/deep-linking-flash-application-states/
However, I'm now trying to figure out how write the flahs
vars so it can see what section / folder the page is in so that the
swf knows to play the same frames for both
swinsidelodge-hotel.co.uk/pages/hotel/awards.php and
swinsidelodge-hotel.co.uk/pages/hotel/guest-comments.php. So
basically it doesn't look at the last bit of the url but the first
bit... I would like the flash vars to be dynamic so that when the
client adds a new subpage in one of the sections the swf will still
know which frames to play.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Konrad -

Unloading a flash movie using Safari browser
I have MAC 10.4 and safari 2.0 browser.I run a flash movie(Instruction.swf) and after that the actual test for the student run.So while running The first movie i.e Instruction.swf I am not able to unload that movie using javascript in Safari 2.0 browser so that the actual test can run.It just hang up after finishing the movie.While in the other Mac and windows it is working fine.
Please Help me.
Thanks In Advance.Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Do you mean to say, in other Mac and Windows web browsers it is working fine? If that's the case, it sounds like the version of Flash plugin used by the Safari plugin is probably older than the one used by the other web browsers.
With Safari Enhancer's enabling of the Debug menu you can force certain webpages to open in other web browsers. That would help streamline your viewing of those pages.

You can also enable the Debug menu with:
defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1
from the Terminal. -
Russian characters in Applet.
Does anybody know how I can get Russian characters to display in a java applet chat screen?
If you write that java applet, the best method to display russian - and possibly any other - characters is to override draw or update methods of components and to draw text with drawString method.
If you want to use existing applets with russian text, the best method is to get a native russian operating system and programs.
It is possible to set up Mozilla / Netscape to display russian and even chinese characters in non-russian os environment - you need to fix font.properties files. Good articles can be found here:

I can't seem to get Russian Characters to display in the
buttons (contents, search) in Flash Help. The Alt text will display
fine.
I've gone in to the .fhs file and replaced
"::??DefaultWebSkinText??::" with what I need but still nothing
will display. English characters work fine
Any help appreciated.A character should always have a corresponding Unicode. You
can do such a test using MS Wods.
1) Highligh a character.
2) Click the Insert from the Toolbar and then click the
Symbol...
You should get its Unicode (Hex, for example) from the
popped-out Symbols interface.
As I know, there are more than 6000 characters, but not all
of them are loaded onto a CPU usually. Therefore, many charcaters
may not be recognized by your CPU.
Besides, the loaded sysmbols may be different for different
softwares in the same PC. For instance, MS Words usually loads the
most of the Symbols (or characters). For some characters in Latin
Extension Additional Symbol category, MS Words show much more than
MS Excel.
How to load more available sysmbols onto a SW? I don't know.
I wish someone can share his/her knowledge on it. -
