Token Use in Query Filter Prompt

I have an RFx query that includes the 'Document Owner' as one of the filter prompt parameters.  I would to set the default value for this parameter to the individual's name that is executing the query.
I have tried using %CURRENT_USER_NAME% as the default value.  However, that doesn't work.  Any ideas?
Note: The parameter is flagged as optional.
I'm trying this in a 7.0 SP01 Patch 8 system.
Thanks, Scott

Hi,
We had achieved such a requirement via Scripting. This was done on a collection such that whoever was adding a value in a particular collection, we were fetching the name of that user and displaying it on the UI upon Save context.
Though am not sure how this can work in a Query itself. Though there is a way to default a filter field to None. You can refer that in the link below:

  • Rich Client Query Filter Pane question

I've browsed through various forums without finding an answer to my problem. I'm frustrated and hope someone else has been there/done that and can offer a suggestion to ease my pain.
We're using BOXI 3.0, and my question is specifically about deciphering/maintaining the contents of the query filter pane in InfoView and/or Web Intelligence Rich Client.
We have some complicated reports with numerous optional prompts. We realize this is not optimal, but need to maintain this reports until we can replace them.
The filter panes are very complicated, since there are so many prompts, ANDs, and ORs and nested statements.
Is there a way to see which universe component a query filter field is connected to? In the query results pane (on top), I can click on a field and it's source is highlighted in the universe tree view on the left. That doesn't happen when you click a field in the query filter pane.
Is there some way I've not found yet, or is this an enhancement request for BOE? Thanks in advance.

I guess this an enhancement request for BOE because I've never seen an option like that.  And I really wish that option existed.
The only way I could think of to solve this problem is renaming all the objects of your universe.  This way you may know what class any object is related to when using the query filter panel.
For example: You have 3 classes in the universe: Users, Quotes, Invoices.  Rename them with a prefix, let's say:
    U-Users
    Q-Quotes
    I-Invoices
Then all the objects belonging to Users must be renamed with the U- prefix:
    U-User name
    U-User id
And the same applies for the other classes objects:
    Q-Quotes:
        Q-quote id
        Q-User id
         Q-Amount
    I-Invoices:
       I-Invoice id
       I-Quote id
       I-Amount
So if in one query filter panel you have a filter using the object Quote id, you'll see if this Quote id comes from Quotes or Invoices, because of the prefix Q- or I-.
I don't know if it is a good practice but I hope it helps.

  • Query Filter Function?

when I make a report, I want it to chose the date in "Query Filters` place. this option is going to be between and i am going to chose one of them by myself and the other is going to be chosen 4 months before which I chose. for example, I chose june as a filter, it should give me the february automatically based on my function.  this kind of function  can be written filter which is in  "Query Filters"?????? whenever I write =currentMonth() in filter place, It brings up the data based on the last month.

    Hello,
Your post is a little difficult to understand, but it sounds like you want to do something like go back, for example 4 months from the date you enter in a prompt when running the report? So if you enter June 1, you want to see data between Feb 1 and June 1?
You can easily create such an object in your Universe with DateAdd function. That can then be used in query filter. I don't think you can create such a filter on the fly in query filter in Webi. You can on the report as a variable, but not sure that would help.
    Thanks!

  • InfoView - Query Filter for date variable of previous week

I am trying to automate the process to generate a report for the previous week's data.  Right now I just prompt the user to enter in the start & end date/times, but I would like to somehow automate the date filtering using a Query Filter.
In particular, the report will be generated every Thursday at 12:35 PM, and it needs to filter only the date field between the date's of the previous Thursday @ 1:31 PM, and the current Thursday @ 12:30 PM.
I know there is a way to do this using an offset or something like that, but I'm a bit of a newbie to InfoView....so any help is greatly appreciated.  Sorry if the explanation is confusing.
    Thanks so much,
    Nick

    Hi,
You can create two objects on universe level or first database level then add in the universe based the sysdate.
Then go to  webi  query and  replace the prompt value by these objects and from next time when ever user refresh this report will run  without any prompt.Same thing in the scheduled report.

  • Sorting query in MDX query filter in PPS

    Hi,
Iam new to the PPS world. Iam using MDX query filter and I need to create a filter field using the [BusinessLine].[Department] dimension. I need to sort the display value of Department in descending order in the filter and Iam using the following
Order([BusinessLine].[Department],[BusinessLine].[Department],DESC) in the query window while creating the filter. But Iam getting 'No value found'! result.
Please let me know Iam doing any mistake in this

    Hi Umair,
    Thanks for the reply
The department here is Attribute and BusinessLine is dimension in my cube. For other requirement(the department has to be sorted based on the creation date attribute) purpose I have kept department as composite key with other attribute called CREATE_DATE
    with named column as department
    Order (
    [BuisnessLine].[Department].[DEPARTMENT],
    [BusinessLine].[CREATE_DATE].Properties("Name"),
    DESC
Iam just replacing the above query as it is in the Enter MDX formul? page
    Is it correct.

  • How can I use a variable in webi query filter

I created a webi report using the fiscal year/month(period) field as a filter to show a window of 18 periods.  The report works just as requested using a between filter on fiscal period with prompts for both the start and ending periods.  Now I'd like to calculate the start period based on what was entered in the prompt for the ending period (e.g. enter 201106 for the TO prompt on the between statement and have the FROM statement filled in as 201001.)  I can create variables in the report to display both the user response to the ending period prompt and the calculated starting period, but I cannot figure out how to incorporate that calculated starting date into the FROM side of the between query filter.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Doug
Sorry I got my froms and to's mixed up in the first draft. Edited by: Doug Roswold on Mar 4, 2011 6:27 PM

Let me understand what you want to do.  You don't want to use two prompts, just one, insn't it?
    I mean, instead of:
    Filter area:
Date between "From prompt" to "To Prompt"
    You want something like:.
    Filter area:
Date between Variable  to "To Prompt"
if I'm not wrong that's not possible to achieve in Webi Query  Panel.
Can you modify your universe? The only way to achieve it is modifying your universe, creating your formula in the universe and assigning it to an object, so you can use this new object in your filter area like this:
Date between MyUniverseObject  to "To Prompt"

  • Error when using "inlist operator" in the query filter of Webi 3.1

    Hi,
We are currently in the process of migrating Deski to webi (BOXI 3.1).
The problem is, Deski is using the "inlist" operator which is working fine but after migrating to webi the inlist operator in the query filter is throwing the below error,
    *Error Message :*
A database error occured. The database error text is: ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis. (WIS 10901)
    Appreciate your assistance on this.
    Thanks !

    Karthik ,
Yes I am seeing an additional paranthesis in Webi SQL query.
For example plz consider the product table below,
    SELECT
    Product.ID,
    Product.Name
    FROM Product
    WHERE
    Product.Name IN ( @Prompt('4) Name:','C','Product\Name-M',multi,free)  )
As a work around in Custom SQL, If I remove the paranthesis the below query is running fine in webi
    SELECT
    Product.ID,
    Product.Name
    FROM Product
    WHERE
      Product.Name IN  @Prompt('4) Name:','C','Product\Name-M',multi,free)
But I want a permanent solution.

  • Use Yesterday as variable for Query Filter

    Post Author: rrburton
    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
I want to have a query filter that refers to the previous day.  In regular SQL I would use something like "= trunc(sysdate)-1".  I don't see any option for doing it this way in web intelligence, the closest it comes is selecting object and then assigning the Beginning of Last Week item from the System Date table.  What am I missing?

    Post Author: rrburton
    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
Nevermind - I figured it out just now.  It isn't very intuitive.  In the Objects and Variables dialog in the SystemDate table there are a bunch of items like 1 day, 2 days, etc. and you select one of those and then in the code it looks like:
    WHERE   PKG_NTD_CONV.TO_ORCL_DATE(TROUBLE_TICKET_ARCHIVE.CREATE_DATE)  =  ( sysdate )-1
It should say something like 1 day ago, 2 days ago, etc.

  • How to use OData Date filter query to filter data from OData NetWeaver Gateway Service?

    Hello,
I am trying to use the OData Filter query. to filter data records from the OData Service, using Date range for filters.

    Hi Jitendra,
Once again, thank you for your help.
I am able to filter the records using a date range.
I am sharing the information, just in case anyone out there might need it.
The OData Filter Query for Date Range (i.e. with Two date values) will return the results only if the OData Back-end Service is modified to accommodate such filter requests.
This has to be done in ABAP.
Please refer the following links which talks more about the Back-end ABAP Service being modified to ensure that the service returns records of data, as per the date range filter query

    Thank you!!
I could find that only the supplier registration modifications are included in the query given by you, but we need to include the supplier registrations as well.
I tried modifying the query and it worked.
But, now the challenge is to include the workflow status(T1.APPROVAL_STAUS) in the filter prompt.
    T1 table is FCI_WORK_ITEM.
T.APPROVAL_STAUS is an integer data type in the table.
I defined the T.APPROVAL_STAUS as string In Result fields and in the filter prompt.
But the query works for other filter prompts except workflow status.
I have included the filter prompts as mentioned below:
    T1.CONTEXTID=<%CONTEXT(workflow.process)%> AND
    UPPER(T2.BIZ_DOC_OBJECT_NAME) like ? AND
    UPPER(T2.PHASE_SUB_REF_OBJECT_NAME) like ? AND
    UPPER(T1.APPROVAL_STATUS) like ? AND
    UPPER(T1.PERFORMER_OBJECT_NAME) like ?
    <%ORDERBY%>
    Please suggest on this.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Query design: Default Value List Filter Prompt to None

I am building a query with several filter prompts which are of data type Value List
The problem is that the list defaults to the first value in the Value List, and I would like to default it to None. The reason of course is so users don't have to switch all the dropdowns to None manually.
I am wondering, what is the default value that can default the list to None? I have tried "0", "None", "null" all to no avail. My current hack is to add another value to the value list called "Any" and make it the first choice in the list.

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work.
The values of my filter prompt are as follows.
    Parameter Name: AGREEMENT_TYPE
    Prompt Message Resource: Agreement Type
    Default Value: null:616:null
    Data Type: Value List
    String Matching:Exact Match
    Value List Type: Agreement Type
    Prefill value from cache:
    Optional:

  • OBIEE Column filter prompt issue :: Display Value, Pass Value

    Hi All,
Is it possible to display a value in the prompt and pass another value to the report in OBIEE?
Eg. Display Employee Name but internally pass Employee Key values.
Right now in column filter prompt, I have given an SQL query in SQL results field to fetch Employee Names and Employee Keys.
When I select an Employee Name then Employee Key gets displayed in the prompt (selected values on the left) field.
Filter on column property is set to Employee Key.
My requirement is when an Employee Name is selected, then the same Employee Name should be displayed in the prompt field. Internally Employee Key should be passed.
    Is this possible? Please help.
    Regards,
    Sam

    Hi,
It can be done with the help of an intermediate report and filter based on other request but you need to check the performance. You need to create a report.pull on employee key in that report and put employee name as 'Is Prompted' . Then in your parent report use 'Filter based on other request' and select 'Employee Key' from the intermediate report created.
In this way used only have to select employee name in prompt and employee key willl be passed to parent report. Check the performance before you use this approach as 'filter based on other request' can cause performance issues.
