Tomahawk and saveState

Hi All.
We are migrating an JSF application from Tomcat to Weblogic.
The problem we have is that in every pages that we are using the component <t:saveState /> from Tomahawk, we get a NullpointerException when we try to get a request attribute, or get some object from the FacesContext.
For Example, this returns null:
FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getViewRoot().getId();
And this too:
FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
          Map<String, Object> requestAttr = ctx.getExternalContext()
                    .getRequestMap();
          return requestAttr.get("name");
In Tomcat this dont happens. There is some special configuration or we miss something?
Thanks!

  • Trying to use tomahawk and rich faces jar?

    I tried a very simple example to know how to use menu group. These are the following steps:
    1. I opened a web application using Netbeans using JSF as framework.
    2. When I run my application, it worked and welcomeJSF page was displayed.
    3. Then I wanted to a try a sample program. Hence I modified welcomeJSF page as below:
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h" %>

  • Rendering Problems of JSF Tomahawk and Richfaces elements

    Hello,
    we developed a J2EE-Application on the Netweaver 7.0 (SP16) Platfarm, that uses JFS, Myfaces Tomahawk and Richfaces.
    It is developed as a "normal" J2EE Webmodule Project and works very well (even in the Portal).
    But one requiremant is, that the Application has to be a Development Component in a Development Track.
    So we ported the application into the Track without much trouble. But then we realized that many UI-Components, especially the Richfaces-Components do not render correctly.
    It seems, that the underlying Java-scrips are not generate properly, so that for example the Richfaces Calendar Component completetly fails. Also the scripts that apply certail style aspects to the UI-Components vanished.
    I have absolutely no idea, what could be the reason for that. There are no errors or exceptions. Just the underlying scripts are not generated or do not work.
    Does anybody have a hint what could be the solution?

    Hello,
    How did you manage to integrate RichFaces into your NWDS ? Do you have by any chance a tutorial that explains the steps to do it ?

    its working fine, but i was not able to highlight selected child node of tree menu as i m using tiles implementation so all pages gets reloaded on every click on jsp. thus color of that selected node becomes as it is.
    please note that i m using myfaces implementation.

    I tried your page in my project, also using Facelets. You had a couple of errors:
    1) The close tag for <html> was partially missing. I assume that was a copy and paste issue.
    2) <f:view> does not accept an id attribute.
    It looks like this is a bug in Tomahawk. They emit some <button> tags with attributes with a i18n namespace prefix that is not defined on the button tags. I added the namespace to the html tag and everything worked.

  • Tomahawk and ADF bindings conflict

    Hi, I use Tomahawk components <t:dataTable> and <t:dataScroller> to handle table with large number of rows (I learned from http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/WorkingWithLargeTables)
    The problem is that after I added ADF bindings to call EJB session bean methods, six navigation image buttons (first, last, previous, next, ff, fr) have been disabled. It seems that ADF does something to disable JavaScript code which activates these buttons (I noticed some changes have been made in faces-config.xml and web.xml). It took me 6 hours to find bugs but I've reached nowhere. :) Pls help me.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Frank, I have a method:
    public List <SimpleCar> searchCar(int start, int rows);
    in a session facade bean called CarFacadeBean.
    And the following is the Page Definition.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <pageDefinition xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/uimodel"
    version="10.1.3.40.66" id="carsDataModelPageDef" Package="view.pageDefs">
    <parameters/>
    <executables>
    <variableIterator id="variables"/>
    </executables>
    <bindings>
    <methodAction id="searchCar" InstanceName="CarFacadeLocal.dataProvider"
    DataControl="CarFacadeLocal" MethodName="searchCar"
    RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="999"
    IsViewObjectMethod="false"
    ReturnName="CarFacadeLocal.methodResults.CarFacadeLocal_dataProvider_searchCar_result">
    <NamedData NDName="start" NDType="int" NDValue="15"/>
    <NamedData NDName="rows" NDType="int" NDValue="15"/>
    </methodAction>
    </bindings>
    </pageDefinition>
    Then in backed beans, I put:
    BindingContainer bindings = this.getBindings();
    OperationBinding operationBinding = (OperationBinding) bindings.getOperationBinding("searchCar");
    List <SimpleCar> cars = (List<SimpleCar>) operationBinding.execute();
    to get the result set from EJB method (searchCar(start, rows)).
    These are all basic things, I believe. The problem occurs only after I dragged the method searchCar from Data Control Pallete to the page (there is only one page in this testing view). May I upload the code to somewhere so that you can take a further look?
    Regards,
    Harry.

    Yep, as you found, there were some changes in how the 1.6 handles the loading of array classes. This issue has been corrected in the 1.2 version of the RI. We still need to backport said fixes to 1.1.

  • IBM RSA 6.0.1.1 - interim fix 022 / Apache Tomahawk saveState problem

    Is Tomahawk <t:saveState /> component working with IBM RSA and IBM JSF implementation. I can't get it worked. Did anyone?

    Not sure about RAD7.. I do know that the internal WAS test envionment is WAS 6.x or something .. and that the JSF jars are supposed to be part of the APP server (as opposed to deploying with your app)
    If I had to bet it probably not going to be 1.2 but thats just a guess. IBM has these JWL?? widgets I think they are throwing in RAD / RSA 7 so my guess is they won't be up to date no the lastest version of 1.2 since they probably coded these widgets a while ago not to mention they have to support a billion other integrated products .. portal..etc.etc.. so my guess is they have a hard time keeping up with the later versions (at lease from a "supported") standpoint.
    Their company line for WSAD 5.1 (about why they were stuck on 1.0 was
    something like "IBM does not have imminent plans to move to JSF 1.1 because the original implementation (shipped in WebSphere Studio 5.1.2) includes corrections to defects that are addressed in JSF 1.1. Adoption of JSF 1.1 is redundant to the code IBM has already delivered. Remember that IBM was a major code contributor to the JSF project and the corrections shipped by IBM in WebSphere Studio 5.1.2 were factored into JSF 1.1. Over the longer term as the JSF standard continues to evolve, IBM will adopt newer versions"

    yes you can,
    in your source add a master_name column and in that make the navigation.
    in the master_id column go to column format and style options and check the Use Custom CSS style option and type,
    display: none
    now in your source the master_id column will get hidden. in your target make the master_id prompted.
    now click on the master_name in your source, your target will get filtered by the corresponding msater_id
    thanks,
    Karthick

    You cannot mix differnet JSF implementations. Use the one or the other.
    As you stated that you're "using" Mojarra, get rid of those myfaces jars.

  • BUG: JSP disappears from design view with MyFaces / Tomahawk

    Hi,
    When I try to create a JSF JSP in design view (as opposed to code view) using MyFaces and Tomahawk 1.1.3, the design view will blank and display "Type, paste or drag and drop content onto this blank....". This usually happens after I've dragged half a dozen JSF outputlabels and inputtext boxes. The code still exists in code view, and will even compile and deploy ok, it's just the design view that stops working. The design view usually blanks while I'm switching between the code tabs at the top of the screen, although I'm fairly sure it blanked as I dropped a textbox onto the form once.
    I've restarted JDev, tried to create a second page, clicked refresh etc but I can't get it back. This has happened starting from scratch 3 times now.
    I've switched back to the builtin reference implementation JSF (and no Tomahawk), and JDeveloper works fine, so it seems to be a problem using MyFaces. I've added MyFaces and Tomahawk via Manage Libraries.
    This Oracle article - http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/101/howtos/myfaces/index.html
    states that the RI version can't be swapped out in JDev Developer Preview version but I understand that's not true now?
    I'm using :-
    JDeveloper SU4
    java 1.5
    Windows XP SP1
    Thanks for any help.

    I found the answer. I went to View, Style Rendering and clicked several of the boxes  Display Media was one.

  • Sun JSF 1.2 (RI) + MyFaces  project Tomahawk 1.1.3

    Hi Guys,
    I wondering if someone can help me out. I'm so lost...
    In general, I'm working in a new project using Tomcat 5.5.17 as Servlet container, NetBeans as IDE and Sun JSF 1.2 (RI) Framework. The combination of Tomcat and JFS 1.2 already is an issue that I believe can be solved using Servlets framework ( I hope so). For now I just crossing my fingers believing Apache Tomcat soon will be using JSP 2.1
    Like most projects always start simple and then grows bigger and complicated. Now I just so confusing when I trying to use custom components not found in the JSF 1.2 specification. I really like MyFaces Tomahawk and would like to use in my project as well, specially a few components: Calendar, Schedule and so on.
    Making the long history short, there you are my questions:
    1 - ) Is it possible to work with Sun JSF 1.2 (RI) + Tomahawk 1.1.3 project?. Using anly a few components of Tomahawk and not the entire MyFaces specificacion.
    2 - ) Where can I donwload MyFaces examples spefically using those Tomahawk components mentioned before ? I would like to deploy the examples application myself. In the web site (http://www.myfaces.org) mention two files in Installing and Running the examples:
    " Unpack the MyFaces examples archive myfaces-X.X.X-examples.zip (or myfaces-X.X.X-examples.tgz) to a directory of your choice. "......
    I have no clue where to find those two files. All I get is a link to and external site that show me the examples and offering services, but I have no option to download any examples file.
    Thanks in advance.

    Amittev,
    Thank you. I really appreciate your help. Now the examples are working just fine in my computer.
    By the way, I have another question for you considering your kindness taken your time to share your expertise.
    I'm facing a Tiles and Facelets dilema. Which framework do you recomend me to invest my time learning it??.
    Thanks again for your time and consideration.

  • T:schedule not defined in tomahawk.tld

    Hi, I have been trying to use the tomahawk schedule component.
    I have faced 2 problems up to now:
    1st... Cant find in a maven repository the adequate tomahawk jar file, so I downloaded it manually and put in the repo.
    2nd... The tld <%@ taglib uri="http://myfaces.apache.org/tomahawk" prefix="t"%> does not have the tag definition to the schedule component.
    Here is my eclipse .classpayh entry: <classpathentry exported="true" kind="var" path="MAVEN_REPO/tomahawk/jars/tomahawk-1.1.4-SNAPSHOT.jar"/>
    What should I do to solve this problem?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    schedule passed from the sandbox project to the tomahawk, and it seems to me that it was not correcty deployed with the 1.4 snapshot...
    i found the tlds for t:schedule under 1.5 snapshot. though it is an unofficial release you can reach it changing at http://people.apache.org/builds/myfaces/nightly/
    inside there are schedule examples and tlds...
    good luck.

  • What's the difference JavaFX and JSP/servlet?

    Can JavaFX build web applications like JSP/servlet? Does Java have other technology to build web applications? thanks

    JavaFX compares more to Flash and Silverlight and in that more to Silverlight than to Flash.
    There are plenty of frameworks built on top of the Servlet specification that allow you to build web applications, each with a different approach and target application. Notable examples are JSF (and its extension libraries Richfaces, Icefaces, Tomahawk and Primefaces), Wicket, Struts 2, Spring 3 and Play framework. With Flexive you even have a complete CMS built on top of JSF technology.
    A cool bit of technology for JavaFX is Flamingo, which couples a JavaFX frontend to a web based backend, effectively allowing you to "pop out" a website from the browser.
