Tomcat 4.1.18 where to find servlet generated from jsp?

hi all
i need to know where to find the servlets generated by compiling my jsp pages.
i'm using tomcat 4.1.18.
shall i set some property in the conf/server.xml file to do this?
i need this feature to debug my application, since when i get some exception, all the references are to the servlet, not to my jsp (line number ecc..)

it will be under your tomcat directory. for example if you have a webapp called foo123 the servlet code for the jsps will be under
c:\your_tomcat_dir\work\Standalone\localhost\foo123

Servlet call from jsp pages on Hosting server instead of Local system

HI,
We have started hoste our projects on one of the Dedicated service from US.
We have used servlets in our projects and uploaded servlet based project on Dedicated server ,so now we are getting one ERROR ,when we try to access servlet pages from browser .
sample Below ERROR we are getting on browser ,when we try to access the servlet...
The requested URL /Globalcontactservlet was not found on this server
In Web.xml i have written mappings for servlets and i have included web.xml file under the Web-inf folder as same process we do on local system server.(Tomcat 5.5)
on browser i am trying to use the below format to request the servlet mapping

When you get the zip/jar-file, you have several options. You can either place it in the common classpath of your system/Servlet container (recommended if you use it in most of your webapps), or in the WEB-INF/lib directory of your webapp (if you only use it with that particular one).

Cant find bean class from jsp page using Tomcat 4

I have searched numerpus forums and seen many posts from people who seem to have the same problem however none of the solutions seem to work for me.
I have a jsp page which is trying to call a bean method however I get an error
saying that the class for the bean cannot be found. I have :
1. put the class in a package called kolaBean under
C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\ROOT\begjsp-ch01\WEB-INF\classes\kolaPackage
2. included the package statement in the java file for the bean
3. included an empty constructor in the java file for the bean
4. I have declared the above constructor as public (is this necessary?)
5. used the full package name:
kolaPackage.kolaBean bakedBean = new kolaPackage.kolaBean();
6. imported import java.beans.*; (is this necessary ?)
7. still got the same error...
Any pointers really really appreciated

Where to find my question from 11-17-2014

This:
Premiere Elements 13, Organiser OK, Editor freeze from start.
Ver. 13 has been installed and uninstalled several times, all with the same result.
Install has been with and without the installed ver 11 (works).
OS win 7 64bit 6 gB RAM, QUAD CORE, plenty of space. Nvidia Geforce GT 220. DirextX 11.
Quicktime is updated too.
Problem:
Same problem for new and existing (updated) projects.
There is no reaction from anything at the workspace but the File, Edit Clip ... menu, but it is useless.
You can Add media from the File menu and it is visibly at the timeline.
Thats all, there is nothing You can do after that.
When I close the program (only way is via the File menu) it asks for Saving.
OK, I have ver 11 which works fine...but

has not surfaced yet.
That BadDrivers.txt file should have been there. Are your computer Folder Options set for Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drivers. Because of the way you described your menu situation, I am curious about the video card/graphics card environment. Deletion of the BadDrivers.txt file might help to rule in or out such speculations.
Are you within 30 days of purchase of Premiere Elements 13 from Adobe direct? If so, please keep close watch on the timing as we
move through troubleshooting. If an answer cannot be found, you can request your money back from Adobe within that time frame only.

Where to find Portal WebService from Portal Service

Hello,
I've managed to create a portal service. i would now like to use it as a web service.
I've found document describing the process, however when try to create a portal object I'm proposed with the choice for portal service, Portal Componant and KM Componant , but not the needed "Web Service from portal Service" .
Does anyone know what you have to get/add/activate to have this option ?
i'm on NWDS version 7.0.14

Hi Guillame,
To expose your Portal Service as a Web Service, follow the steps :
1). Select the project containing the Portal Service you wish to expose as a web service.Generate Portal Web Service with PDK Wizard by choosing Portal Web Service From Portal Service.
2). Select the interface by clicking the browse button.You can only expose the interface that are defined in your Portal Service Project.
3). Select the method you want to expose to the web service.WSDL files will be generated.
4). The portalapp.xml will be automatically updated with the WSDL entries.
5). Deploy the Portal Service on Portal.
6). View the Web Service on Portal in the following path :
System Administration --> Support --> Portal Runtime --> SOAP Admin --> Web Services
7). The generated WSDL can be viewed with the URL :
http://<server>/irj/servlet/prt/soap/com.sap.portal.prt.soap.<servicename>.

Multiple servlet actions from jsp forms

Hi all ,
how can i do muliple actions from a jsp form, i need to do an action when user clicks on a column and a different action when user clicks on cell in a row .
i need to read and store the attribute from the column to pass back to the webservice to request that the service sorts the reults by that column either as desecending or as asending.
also i need to get the value from a cell that is clicked on and pass that through as a parameter to the webservice to request some further data for the specific id.
how can i do this?
currently i have a form which has as part of the row an onclick event that captures the value of cell clicked - but what i need to do is change the cell value to a href and if this is clicked capture the value of the href and submitt this to the form action and regonise that the href has been clicked (how do i do that?) and thus do soemething specific for that in the servlet and if the column with its ascending or descending image is clicked capture the asc or desc value and regonise that the column asc or desc has been clicked (how do i do that?) and thus do soemething specific for that in the servlet.

You can modify your connection pool management servlet so you can set the 'connection pool object' as an attribute of the request. Then forward the request to your jsp page.
Example:
in your service method of your sevlet, add something like
public void service (HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) {
ConnectionPool pool= new ConnectionPool();
request.setAttribute("mypool", pool);
// forward the request to a jsp page.
RequestDispatcher dispatcher = request.getRequestDispatcher("jsp/myjsp.jsp");
dispatcher.forward(request, response);
}then in your myjsp.jsp, you can access the connection pool object using the 'mypool' attribute.

Once you open the jsp form, at below leftside corner you can see link : About This Page. If you click on the link : About this Page this again open another window, there you can see multiple tabs at header level, if you click on page tab, there you can all the VO objects used to build this page. If you click on VO object hyperlink you can see the query.

How to pass a object of JSP to a servlet called from JSP

I am trying to display an image in the JSP through html image tag. I am using Struts Action class to get the image data from the database through a Session EJB. I am getting a byte array for the image retrieved from the database.
To display the image I need to call a servlet from the JSP from the image tag like this.
<html:img src="imageservlet" border="0"/>
But I need to send the image byte [] array data which is available with the JSP to the servlet to build image. I have a bean object with the JSP which holds the image byte []. The servlet should receive the bean object and will use the byte [] and build the image to be displayed.
My query here is how to send this bean object to the servlet which is getting called from the JSP as shown above.

Well, Servlet and JSP both are server side technologies and both can be used in web applications. You can write web pages using both servlet and JSP. In fact, your JSP pages are converted to Servlet by container while serving requests. However, writing a JSP page is relatively easier and requires minimal Java knowledge.
When you will develop real world java based web applications you will find that you are writing more JSP pages than servlet.
In a typical MVC (Model View Controller) architecture a single servlet is used as controller and JSP pages are used to generate web content.

Where does the html source when using paramform=html generated from?

I have changed my server name and I have found that when I have paramform=yes or html in the url for the report, the html source of the paramform that is displayed uses the old server name.
Does anyone know where the paramform is generated from, or is it just a template?
If the report does not require any parameters and I have paramform=no in the url, then it works correctly.

Go to TextEdit preferences and set everything to Plain Text instead of Rich Text and make sure you check the box for "ignore rich text commands in html files".

Servlet compilation - where to find the class files ?

I am new to servlets and I have just downloaded Tomcat 4. I think that a servlet has to extend the HttpServlet class and throws a ServletException exception, right ? But where can I find these classes for Tomcat (I think that these don't ship with it !). I tryed to fix the problem by downloading these classes for JSDK but the Tomcat examples (which I could run) did not compile !...
It is perhaps a silly question, but could someone help me out ?
