Tomcat 6 increase JVM memory ?

How can I increase the memory of Apache Tomcat 6. Earlier i used to do it in catalina.bat. Now am not sure how to do them, as I have tomcat exe services in bin folder (OS:Windows). It would be great if any one could help me resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance.

hope that by now, you have the answer. If not, you can try the following:
Run \bin\tomcat6w.exe.
In the new window that is displayed, select the Java tab and change the following as per your requirements:
Initial memory pool
Maximum memory pool

    Hi Friends
    I am in a critical situtation and not able get the solution. My application is huge and need of increase in JVM memory. I am able to increase JVM memory in command prompt
    java -Xmx500m classname
    Simarly I am able to run jar file also
    java -Xmx500m -jar sample.jar
    I need to know how to set JVM memory for executable JAR. When I just double-click the JAR application load and i am getting Out Of Memory. I dont what ti use command prompt to execute. Please help me with this program. Thanks in advance

    I gone through the code of ImageJ software. ImageJ is
    a freeware and wrtten in Java. They are setting jvm
    memory in code, getting the description of the code
    was difficult.
    long memoryBytes =
    s = Runtime.getRuntime().maxMemory();
         long memoryMB = memoryBytes/1024/1024;
         long memoryDiff = memoryMB - 64;
    String s = "Runtime.maxMemory: " + memoryMB +
    B + "MB\n";
         s = s + "Difference: " + memoryDiff + "MB";
         System.out.println("s..." + s);
    The above code will give you the memory allocated for JVM. Yes.
    When there is a way to find the memory space,
    there should be some way to set it. No.
    I am still trying to set the memory in code r using external resource.Read reply 4.
    I want to just give the executable jar to users. They
    are not satisified with the bat file and hidding

  • Increase JVM memory size in build.xml?

    Hi,
    I want to know if it is possible to increase the JVM memory size in the "build.xml" file of my java fx project itself?If so,how to go about it?
    Thanks a lot.

    I think you can achieve that by specifying <fx:jvmarg>.
    For example:
    <fx:deploy width="${applet.width}"
                   height="${applet.height}"
                   embedJNLP="true"
                   nativeBundles="all"
                      outdir="${dist.dir}"
                   outfile="${application.title}"
                   verbose="true">
         <!--
         Increase JVM memory size.
         http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/deployment/javafx_ant_task_reference002.htm#CIAGFFIF
         -->
         <fx:platform javafx="2.2+" j2se="7.0">
              <fx:jvmarg value="-Xms64M"/>
              <fx:jvmarg value="-Xmx512M"/>
         </fx:platform>
    </fx:deploy>Hope that helps!

  • How to increase JVM memory for Web Logic 10.3.3 - OSB 11g

    Hello folks,
    I am running OSB 11g on WebLogic 10.3.3 to call some services passing large XMLs requests. These XMLs are something around 10mb each. Unfortunately, I got errors regarding memory.
    I am using Eclipse with OSB plugin to develop, and I have configured the weblogic server to start up it from the eclipse, thus I don't need to start up through command line.
    I would like to know where I can change the memory arguments to start up the JVM which runs the WebLogic server. As I am starting up the server from eclipse, I can't change the memory size args from command line.
    Is there a file where those arguments are stored? or some configuration on WebLogic console which I can increase the Xms and Xmx ?
    The JVM is jrockit_160_17_R28.0.0-679
    This is the eclipse console output when the server is starting up:

    Hi Davinod,
    Yes, the correct place is to change the memory arguments in the "setDomainEnv.cmd", however can you confirm if the changed memory arguments were reflected in the logs or not.
    If yes then you need to try to increase the memory arguments again and test which is the best working memory argument suitable for your environment, this would take some trials.
    However if the memory arguments are still not reflected then try to set it properly as shown below:
    set MEM_ARGS=-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m

  • Please help :: JVM Memory Calculation

    Hi Guys,
    I've developed a struts based web application. I've got the java.lang.OutOfMemoryError when I tried to retrieve 2000 records in the login page itself. Ofcourse even in my listing of the modules.. i am getting the same...error
    still i have confused with JVM size.. how much to be increased...? presently i have JVM size 32MB with jdk1.5, tomcat 5.5 , linux os..with 1GB RAM
    please suggest..,

    Well firstly i feel Holding 2000 records at a time is ceratinly foolish as sooner or later it would eat up all your JVM heap...
    A better solution in order to maintain this is to use data paging....
    first....
    which you might divde into pages....
    Say for example....
    select count(*) from table_name where <condition>gives you total number of records present.
    Say if you have divded the total records into 100 per Virtual Page
    at a strench fetch first 100 records using properties like rownum(oracle),LIMIT clause in mysql and etc.
    Hold the present page pointers in a bean Scoped session and then fetch the other page accordingly.this saves a lot of memory thought their is a lot of overhead involved.
    the other would be usage of other caching techniques.
    May be the below article might help you in this regard
    http://java.about.com/library/weekly/uc_querycache1.htm
    And if you are still struck to increasing increasing JVM Size you might have to configure it in App server batch server runtime parameters
    check out below article of how configure few app servers to increase JVM Heap
    http://www.chemaxon.com/jchem/doc/admin/tomcat.html

    and checkout the below article to findout different technique followed to solve memory leak problems.

  • Help - JVM memory issue w RH3 and Apache (Oracle 11.5.9)

    We have an issue where we need to increase the memory on our JVM on 32 - bit Linux OS past 1.9G addressable. 64 - bit is not an option and niether is hugetbl. are there some settings I am missing to enable the JVM to address more than 1.9 G. I have set Xmx and can allocate 2.6 G but cant address more than 1.9G. This is a huge issue that can hold up a critical go live
    -any ideas???

    11.5.9 does not use AK for any OAF pages, we migrated all the AK data way before 11.5.9 was released.
    dont worry about the regionname and the URL param, there will be a regionmap to specify the xml that replaced this AK region.
    look for one of my threads to understand how to get the xml for the ak region appearing in the URL
    Thanks

  • JVM memory breakup

    Hi,
    My java application (with jdk1.5.0_03) shoots upto 169 MB of Process size (seen in Task manager)
    and the heap size when printed (Runtime.totalMemory()-Runtime.freeMemory())
    shows as 68 MB. I assume that the process size is the total JVM memory.
    I would like to know exact breakup of JVM memory; is it possible to find out the individual parameters that contribute to the total process memory.
    Thanks
    Srila

    Hi,
    I have a similar kind of problem.
    We have a web-application running on jdk1.5 and tomcat 5. I want that my application should not take more than 48 MB memory on to my machine. I used the -Xmx48m option, but it just controls the heap memory. But what about the non-heap memory? Here are few things I have noticed
    -> when I use JConsole to monitor the application, I found that my applications non-heap memory Max is set to 96M.
    -> Another thing I have noticed that when I use "top" command to monitor memory footprint of my application, the RSS (which shows the PHYSICAL MEMORY USED ) shows an alarming 125MB of usage ( Sometimes when i use -server option it used to go upto 250M ) , which may harm my other applications which are memory prone. Even when the GC runs java do not free any memory for other application.
    -> I have tried many options like
         -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC
         -XX:NewSize=8m -XX:MaxNewSize=8m -XX:SurvivorRatio=2 -Xms48m -Xmx48m -Xss64k
         -XX:MaxHeapFreeRatio=20 -XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=10 -XX:NewSize=32m -XX:SurvivorRatio=32 -Xss256k -Xms48m -Xmx48m
         -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:GCTimeRatio=20 -Xms30m -Xmx30m -Xss2048k
         but failed to restrict it to 48M
    Before using Sun JDK5 we are using IBM jdk1.3 with tomcat 3 with green thread. So we were able to configure it with just one option -mx48m. I am really stuck. I cannot believe that Sun have not given us any control on the maximum memory usage. Please help me .

  • How to increase JVM Process size for WebLogic running SOA Applications.

    Hi,
    I believe 32 Bit OS can address up to 4GB memory so theoretically 32 Bit JVM can use 4GB but practical convention is 2GB as other 2GB is used by OS itself and also this default JVM Process size is set somewhere and I also believe that if JVM is 32 bit on 64Bit OS even though JVM will run on 32Bit Virtual Machine so JVM does not know that it is 64Bit OS in that case again it can use max Process default size up to 2GB.
    And for 64Bit JVM, I can allocate more than 4GB depend on my available RAM size to Xmx, MaxPermSize parameters in java.exe file and after that I can set the same value in “setSOADomainEnv.cmd” or to “setDomainEnv.cmd” file.
    But I am 99% sure by just assigning more memory value to Xmx, MaxPermSize in “setSOADomainEnv.cmd” file only won’t work (not setting Xmx in java.exe), if it would have worked then in my case when I was assigning 1536 to Xmx in “setSOADomainEnv.cmd” file then why it was showing out of memory error. I think that is because it was only taking default 2GB for my 32 Bit JVM not considering 3GB or 4GB. So i think i have to change default memory size what JVM can use (<http://www.wikihow.com/Increase-Java-Memory-in-Windows-7> but i am using windows 8 so for that I don’t know the option to change this default Process Size)
    I also believe that first JVM start and before start it check how much memory it can use from it’s own –Xmx parameter in some ware configuration or java.exe file and after that it allocate that much size of JVM Process Memory in RAM then after it loads Weblogic or Java Applications in its (Heap + Non-heap + Native Area) which are parts of JVM Process memory
    I read post on :< http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3143579/how-can-jvm-use-more-than-4gb-of-memory > and < http://alvinalexander.com/blog/post/java/java-xmx-xms-memory-heap-size-control >
    All used  :
    java -Xmx64m -classpath ".:${THE_CLASSPATH}" ${PROGRAM_NAME}
    java –Xmx6g     //command which will call java/JVM interpreter which will hold –Xmx parameter to set Heap size for JVM
                                    before JVM comes in memory (JVM process memory)
    now my question is can I manually open any configuration file or java.exe same like “setSOADomainEnv.cmd” or “setDomainEnv.cmd” (I know since java.exe is exe I can’t open simply but I want similar work around)
    so that I don’t need to type java –Xmx6g every time when I run weblogic (and then later I can change weblogic “setDomainEnv.cmd” Xmx and PermSize to more than default size 4GB to 5GB or 6GB in the case of 64Bit OS)
    Please correct me if I am wrong in my understanding.
    Thanks.

    These days the VM will detect a "server" machine and set up the memory appropriate for that.
    You can create a simple java console application and have it print the memory settings (find the appropriate java class fort that.)
    There is of course the possibility that your application is running out of memory because it is doing something wrong and not because the VM doesn't have enough memory.  You can force that in a test setup by LOWERING the maximum amount of memory and thus making it more likely that an out of memory exception will occur.

  • Increase the memory

    Hi,
    how to increase the memory size of a jvm.
    could u plz. help me.
    regards
    AMJ

    command line arg -Xms128m to get 128 megs

  • Flash Pro CS6 - not enough JVM memory - change 128 to 256, flash doesn't start.

    Hi,
    working on very large projects, I often get the "flash ran out of memory for the jvm" error.
    Restarting flash does the trick for another couple of hours, until I get that error again.
    It opens the jvm.ini file to let me increase Xmx memory value.
    I change it from -Xmx128m to -Xmx256m
    I restart flash, get the error: "Error initializing Java Runtime environment. You may need to reinstall Flash"
    I change it back to -Xmx128m, and flash starts again.
    But obviously, I again get the "not enough memory" error.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Also,
    after installing Flash Pro CS6, previously installed Flash Pro CS5.5 does not start, gives me the JVM initialization error all the time, regardless of which Xmx value I put for CS5.5

    back to square one again. The error message just popped up. So annoying.
    update:
    I removed some of the images I embed using the '[Embed tag'. And now it publishes again without the error. Weird because the published swf is only 1.8MB. Nothing crazy. So the problem seems related to embedding images using the [Embed tag...
    update 2 / FIX:
    Instead of using the embed tag to embed images I now have an 'assets' folder that I add to the AIR project (publish settings) that contains my images. Then I load the various images using the Loader. After an image is loaded I convert it to a Texture to use in Starling like so:
    var bitmap:Bitmap = new Bitmap(new BitmapData(currentBigTextureLoader.width, currentBigTextureLoader.height, true, 0x00000000));
    bitmap.bitmapData.draw(currentBigTextureLoader);
    bigTextures[aBigTexturesToLoad[nCurrentBigTextureToLoad]] = Texture.fromBitmap(bitmap);
    You can then use these Textures to display an image in Starling like so:
    var base:Image = new Image(bigTextures["CollectionBase"]);
    Bit of a workaround but al least I don't get the Java Error anymore

  • Increasing Heap Memory

    How do I do to increase the memory available to the JVM? I have an AVLTree class that I am trying to test how many nodes can hold, but even though I have tried on PCs ranging from 128MB to 2GB of RAM, the results is always the same: + - 2.3 million nodes. I have used -x option to increase heap size but that does not seem to work.

    Hi,
    I encounter the same problem with using 1G RAM & JRE 1.5 & running applet in IE.
    The IE memory usage always run on maximum 139000K. Even I tried "java -Xms64m -Xmx512m" & "java -Xms256m -Xmx768m", the memory usage still in 139000K, and Java console shows "Exception in thread 'AWT-EventQueue-2' java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space". How can I solve it?
    Thanks.

  • How to increase the memory for my weblogic server in Jdeveloper 12.1.2.0.0 ?

    Hey everyone,
    So as my title says, i'm trying to increase the memory for my weblogic server in my windows 7 64 bit machine, with 8GB ram.
    The values appear to be: JAVA Memory arguments: -Xms256m -Xmx512m -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
    I've done some search from this forum and i've added this to my jdev.conf:
    AddVMOption  -XX:MaxPermSize=1536M (in this one i've only changed the value)
    AddVMOption -Xmx1536M
    AddVMOption -Xms1536M
    And i've changed this: MEM_ARGS="-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m" in my startNodeManager.sh file
    I'm still getting the same line in my server but i need to change the values since i'm not getting the server to run my application very well (it gets stucked in loading my databases and graphs) and i think it will continue untill i get a heap exception error.
    Any ideas of how to change this?
    Regards,
    Frederico.

    Thanks Alejandro .
    I'm going to ask you another question and this one is quite important.
    Whenever i run my project a couple of times, i'm not able to retrieve the page, it just gets stuck on loading.
    It just stops the loading, like its a really really slow page. I'm not using a lot of rows in my database so i don't take to much memory but it doesn't load and i know everything is fine but i just added some graphs after testing it.
    Do you know why?
    In the console it says that everything is fine and shows the link for the page but it never loads completely until it gives a error because it does not respond in 600 seconds.
    Strange right?

  • Is there a way of Apple increasing my memory and processors?

    Is there a way of Apple increasing my memory and processors so that my 2010 MacBook will run faster? I use 3D programs and filmmaking editing software, and my laptop, as awesome as it is, can't quite keep up with what I do. The programs I am using:
    Blender (Open source 3D software)
    Final Cut Express
    iMovie '09 (usually editing off an external hard drive)
    I make most of my films in HD too.
    I heard that you can manually replace the RAM and stuff, but Im not too keen on it. Being me, I might brake something. But does anyone know of a safe and secure place to buy extra RAM and memory and processors for a 2010 MacBook.

    The only way to upgrade processors is to buy a new Mac. In your case a MacBook Pro would be more appropriate for the tasks you're undertaking.
    Your MacBook will only take a maximum of 4GB RAM.
    In addition to etresoft's recommendation, Crucial Memory is reliable and equally good service. I think this is the RAM for your model, but to be on the safe side, use the "scan my system" option to getthe exact match.
