Tomcat calling weblogic applet

Does anyone know how to get by this exception. java.security.AccessControlException:
access denied (java.net.SocketPermission ) I'm running a web app that calls
an applet sitting on weblogic 6.1. Whenever I try to call it, it gives me the
socketPermission error. What do I have to do to get by this?
Thanks

I have managed to do this, but perhaps the way I have done it is a bit long-winded and there may be an easier (better) way. Also, note that this method is for applets on the same web site only.
The answer lies in Javascript, where a Javascript method can call an Applet method. Therefore, if one applet can communicate with the web-page via Javascript, then any other applets on that page can communicate with any other applets there.
This is an example piece of Javascript code to show u what I mean:
function callAppletMethod()
   var str = window.parent.VerifyApp.check();
etc...
}Here, the variable 'str' gains the value returned by the method 'check()' in the applet called VerifyApp.
There is other ways to communicate between applets and Javascript, but I think they are for Netscape Navigator browsers only.
Anyway, hope that helps.

  • Calling an Applet from a JSP

              Hi,
              I need help with this, I want to invoke an applet from a JSP page. The applet code
              is compiled and resides in a separate jar file. The question is, how do I deploy
              this applet in weblogic 6.1 and then have a JSP call this applet.
              --Krish.

    To call an applet from a jsp use the <jsp:plugin> tag
              <jsp:plugin
              type="applet"
              code="classFileName"
              codebase="classFileDirectoryName"
              [ align="bottom|top|middle|left|right" ]
              [ height="{displayPixels |  <%= expression %>}"]
              [ width="{displayPixels |  <%= expression %>}"]
              [ hspace="leftRightPixels" ]
              [ vspace="topBottomPixels" ]

    Hi,
    I have an applet application that i want to deploy on the Oracle cloud.

    I don't see applets mentioned in the supported features nor in the unsupported features so not sure if they are supported you would likely need to contact the operations team to confirm.

  • How to call an applet from a first applet

    Hi,
    I need to call an applet from a first applet, but I want that the called applet doesn't execute in the same AppletContext than the first one, is it possible?
    If it is, what is the solution?
    Thanks

    Yes, it is possible. One way would be to use static variables.
    class A1 extends Applet
       public static A2 TheOther;
       public A1()
          A2.TheOther = this;
       public void callA2()
          TheOther.doSomething();
    class A2 extends Applet
       public static A1 TheOther;
       public A2()
          A1.TheOther = this;
       public void doSomething()

    Try adding the following code before instantiating your initial context:

    <jsp:param name="test" value="This is a test." />
    </jsp:params>
    <jsp:fallback>
    You need to install the Java plugin on your web browser to run this applet.
    </jsp:fallback>
    </jsp:plugin>

    You really don't need to put all the jar files in your archive list.
    Most likely, you just need to put the jar that contains the applet.
    And, few more dependencies jar files.
    Here is some sample code for your reference:
    <jsp:plugin type="applet" code="Clock2.class" codebase="applet" jreversion="1.2"
    width="160" height="150" >
    <jsp:fallback>
    Plugin tag OBJECT or EMBED not supported by browser.
    </jsp:fallback>
    </jsp:plugin>
    code attribute points to a class file "Clock2.class"
    under the directory under codebase attribute "applet"
    You may want to take a look into the HTML / JSP document about
    how the plugin tag works in HTML / JSP.

  • Is it possible to call other applet?

    Hi Friends..
    I want to know, is it possible to "CALL" other applet from one Applet?..
    And is it a good implementation or not?..
    Could you describe the Applet that call other Applet, perhaps through the example application maybe..
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
    You can call the process method on another applet if you wish (if it is in the same package) or you can use Sharable Object Interfaces (outlined in the user guide). We have used SOI extensively to share data between applets in different packages (and as such different contexts on the card).

    I've not done it myself but I think you must have a name for the second applet specified in the html tag. That is how the first applet will be able to identify the second applet.
    maybe..
    <APPLET CODE="FirstApplet.class"></APPLET>
    <APPLET CODE="SecondApplet.class" NAME="ReceiverName"></APPLET>
    then in your java code
    SecondApplet app = (SecondApplet) getAppletContext().getApplet("ReceiverName");
    if (app != null)
    <execute code>
    But I've not done it, so its only a suggestion...

  • Dont ask why! How do I call an applet that is in a jar file that is...

    Can someone tell me how I would call an applet that is inside of a jar file that is inside of a parent jar file?
    example call to an Applet

    <APPLET CODE="TimeApplet" ARCHIVE="parent.time.jar" />

    if you ask why I wont answer.

    we are doing a signed applet and we only want the user to have to sign 1 time
    and we have lots of applets to display so we dont want to have them sign for
    each item.Sorry but that doesn't make much sense, niether does putting a jar file in a jar file.
    Do you want the "do you trust" question only one time? If so than you only have
    to sign all the jar files with the same key.
    You can load a jar file from your applet but it seems that these jar files will run
    in sanbox security no matter how you sign it:
