Tomcat to Glassfish not working

Hello I am trying to connect to a remote ejb from tomcat 6 with the ejb residing on glassfish 3.I am using the guide at [glassfish |https://glassfish.dev.java.net/javaee5/ejb/EJB_FAQ.html#nonJavaEEwebcontainerRemoteEJB] for advice.
My servers tomcat 6 and glassfish 3 are running on different ports and are on the same machine running on localhost.I want to get the most current technique to connect to a ejb in glassfish 3.I have tried to implement and use parts of tutorials but have not found one answer sufficient to my use.
I am using netbeans 6.9.I have followed he steps laid out in the glassfish guide.I have read to just include the gf-client.jar file which includes links to needed files.
here STEP 3:
"Note that the Java EE 6 API classes are automatically included by gf-client.jar so there is no need to explicitly add javaee.jar to the classpath. gf-client.jar refers to many other .jars from the GlassFish installation directory so it is best to refer to it from within the installation directory itself rather than copying it(and all the other .jars) to another location."
This is what I am doing.
I have tried using the appserv-rt.jar file to remove the java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.sun.enterprise.naming.SerialInitContextFactory.Though I don`t know the best way in that I got another error.
What library files do I include and where do I include them.I have included my ejb netbeans ejb.jar file so I just need the right libraries in the right places.Please offer you opinion and suggestions.
calling code
Context ic = null;
            Properties props = new Properties();
            props.setProperty("java.naming.factory.initial",
                    "com.sun.enterprise.naming.SerialInitContextFactory");
            props.setProperty("java.naming.factory.url.pkgs",

            // optional.  Defaults to localhost.  Only needed if web server is running
            // on a different host than the appserver
            props.setProperty("org.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialHost", "localhost");
            // optional.  Defaults to 3700.  Only needed if target orb port is not 3700.
            props.setProperty("org.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialPort", "3700");

            foo.toString();
        } catch (Exception e) {
            e.printStackTrace();
        } finally {
            out.close();
    }here I got an error in

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.sun.enterprise.naming.SerialInitContextFactoryJava cannot make it any more clear to you: this class does not exist in the classpath of your application, so it cannot do its work. If you don't know how to deal with classnotfound errors, I suggest you put a little research into that topic as you'll be seeing it a lot when you continue to use Java.
You need a certain jar or multiple jars from the glassfish server that contain all the JNDI provider classes and make those available to your client application. I'm not very familiar with Glassfish, but a quick google search turned up the name 'gf-client.jar' which seems very logical.

    What version of spring are you using in tomcat?
    What version of WLS are you using.
    What JDK are you using in both environments?
    Is the issue random? or can you reproduce it at will?

  • Servlet filters on Tomcat 6. Not working on JSPs?

    Hi there:
    First of all I want to apologize because I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask a question like this, as it may have more to do with the treatment which Tomcat gives to JSPs more than the servlet filter standard. Anyway, here I go...
    I'm new into the servlet filter's world (well, nor an expert in Java). To start from a point, I decided to try an example from Sing Li, on the IBM website. The code can be watched and downloaded here (the second one): [http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-tomcat/] .
    This filter basically replaces a certain string in the response output (if found) by the dessired one. I've tested this code "as is" (well, changing the package only) and works great for pure servlets. However, testing this with JSPs outputs a simple and plain blank. Doing some research, I've realized that the problem could be in the class which inherits from HttpServletResponseWrapper. Instead of building a new ServletOutputStream I decided to re-utilize exactly the same which comes from the original "request" object but the problem persisted.
    Another user, Giampaolo Tomassoni, faced a similar a problem. A message from him can be found here . He solved this overriding the "flushBuffer ()" method on the class which inherits from HttpServletResponseWrapper. I've tryed to the same, forcing the flush of the ServletOutputStream and the PrintWritter without any luck.
    By the way, I've made sure that filters work on JSPs. Indeed, I've tested others and have done ok. This seems to be related to HttpServletResponseWrapper.
    Do you have any idea about what could be the reason? Many thanks in advance :) .

    I have the same issue.  My 3-month-old Iphone 6 128 GB model (60 GB free) was working fine yesterday.  I did not install any new apps, although typically 5-10 apps update automatically every night.  Today, out of the blue, about 80% of my apps will not load -- the app window opens then immediately crashes to home page (a double press shows the app is still in memory, but when I select it, it pops up for an instant, then goes back to home icon screen.  Example apps (CNN, CBS News, ABC News, NBC News, Scrabble, many others). I tried turning phone off and back on (three times) - no change. Then tried a hard reset (hold power button and home button down simultaneously for 10 seconds) - on reboot still no change.  Then I tried a Restore from backup on my PC - after restarting and clicking through all the welcome to ios 8 screeens - no change; most apps still crash immediately after starting.
    I took my phone to the Verizon store where I bought it.  The agent tried the power off - power on routine again with no success. I informed him that I also tried the restore from backup at home with no success.  He authorized a warranty replacement and my new replacement iPhone will be FEDEXed to my home Tuesday.  Hope this one works after a restore from backup and this isn't some colossal bug with the latest software update (IOS 8.1.3), which I installed about a week ago.  Internet searches reveal that a number of folks are having problems with their 128gb iphone6 devices - something about bad NAND memory.
    Stats on my iPhone 6, in case others have similar problems, so we can possibly identify a trend:  4,831 songs; 1 video, 3,912 photos, 392 applications, 114 gb capacity, 59.8 gb free, version 8.1.3, carrier Verizon 18.1, Model MG602LL/A.
    Has anyone else started having problems with apps suddenly refusing to work on their 128 gb iPhone6?

  • Response.sendError(200)does not work in Tomcat

    Hi,everyone,
    I'm using a servlet named as "Router" to receive messages from client. Because the processing time of "Router"is quite long, I want it to send back the "200 OK" response to the client at the beginning of the service() method. My Router.java is like this:
    public class Router extends HttpServlet
    public void service(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
    throws ServletException
    // send a response code "200 OK" to the client
    response.sendError(200);
    //processing the received message
    My program works well in ServletExec server, but in Tomcat, it does not work. In tomcat, the 200 OK can only be sent back after the whole service() process is finished. The "response.sendError(200);" seems does not work at all. Can anyone help me to resolve it?
    Thanks a lot!
    grass

    hi, greatmazinger,
    Thank you very much! I changed my code
    "reponse.sendError(200);" to:
    "reponse.setStatus(200);
    response.flushBuffer();"
    Then the response was sent back immediately.
    Thanks a lot!

  • CrossContext and WAR unpacking not working in the same context Tomcat 4.0.6

    I need an application to be able to crossContext so I entered a context tag in my server.xml file.
    However when I added the entry tomcat no longer unpacked the .war file. If I changed the path value in the context tomcat unpacked the war but then the crossContext would not work.
    Is there a way make the two work together?
    Here is a copy of the entries and what they achieve:
    <Context path="myApp" docBase="myApp" debug="0" crossContext="true"/> this will unpack the war but the app will not crossContext.
    <Context path="/myApp" docBase="myApp" debug="0" crossContext="true"/> will allow the app to crossContext but if I update the war and remove the myApp dir under webapps it will not extract the war file.
    Incidently the host tag has unpackWARs="true"
    Ideas anyone? It's a hassle to start the server twice each time, one to unpack and 2 to allow the crossContext.

    PS: Does anyone know how to edit your email address in your profile? I can't seem to do it through the settings link.

  • Tomcat 4.1.x not working under JDK 1.2.2

    We are trying to test our web application on all versions of JDK starting from 1.2.2. We use Tomcat as the servlet engine and after upgrading from Tomcat 3.2.x to 4.1.24 (we've tried 4.1.18 as well) we have noticed that the new Tomcat does not start under JDK 1.2.2, see command line output below. We've tried on several machines and it fails with the same Exception. Has anyone tried running Tomcat 4.x on JDK 1.2.x? We find it hard to believe that a product like Tomcat would fail to support JDK 1.2, so any information would be appreciated.

    I had the same problem.
    No Tomcat 4.1.x is not working under JDK1.2.2.
    It has something to do with a difference in byte code of the classes between jdk1.2.2 and jdk 1.4.
    I am running now on J2SDK1.4.1_03 and have no problems any more

  • System.out.println not working in Tomcat-4.1.x

    Servlets are not working in a new context which I have created in tomcat-4.1.24. if i put the same servlet in examples context it is working. jsps are working in the new context also. any idea????

    Suppose your servlets class is called "app", you need to add this in your web.xml file
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>app</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>app</servlet-class>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>app</servlet-name>

  • JSP: work with TomCat 5.5.9 and NOT work with TomCat 6.0.16

    Hi all,
    I'm Antony and I have a problem with a .JSP page of my server.
    In my server there are 2 users: "u1" and "u2"; there are 2 TomCat, version 5.5.9 and version 6.0.16. There is Apache WebServer version 2. The 2 TomCat servers have the same configuration files: server.xml and web.xml (in the dir /conf of the main server's root). They not work simultaneously.
    When the user "root" launch the TomCat 5.5.9 all work fine: the server will show correctly the JSP pages of "u1" and the pages of "u2".
    When the user "root" launch the TomCat 6.0.16 the JSP pages of "u1" work fine but the JSP pages of "u2" not work: it seems that there are problems with the path where the server want to search the pages of u2.
    In the server.xml there is this code (for the handle of u2's site):
    <Host name="u2site.com" appBase="/home/u2/public_html/">
      <Alias>www.u2site.com</Alias>
      <Context path="" reloadable="false" docBase="/home/u2/public_html/" debug="0"/>
              <Context path="/manager" debug="0" privileged="true"
                  docBase="/usr/local/jakarta/tomcat/server/webapps/manager">
              </Context>
    </Host>and this code (for the u1's site)
    <Host name="u1site.com" appBase="/home/u1/public_html/">
      <Context path="" reloadable="false" docBase="/home/u1/public_html" debug="1"/>
              <Context path="/manager" debug="0" privileged="true"
                  docBase="/usr/local/jakarta/tomcat/server/webapps/manager">
              </Context>
    </Host>The problems with the JSP pages of u2 are one of the following:
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: /login2.jsp(4,0) The value for the useBean class attribute com.u2.beans.access.Autenticator is invalid.and this one that appear with the pages that have the inclusion of another JSP page
    /u2page.jsp(3,0) File "/../support/_formatting.jsp" not foundI think that the TomCat know how to find the page that the browser request to Apache WebServer (and that the webserver request to Tomcat by the connector) 'cause for pages that haven't inclusion or call to method in packages all work fine...but the TomCat have problems to locate the pages included or the method located in a JAR (the jars are located in WEB-INF/lib/ of the u2's site).
    How I can resolve this problem with TomCat 6.0.16? I repeat that with TomCat 5.5.9 all work fine...same configuration!
    Any ideas?
    Thank you very much,
    Antony.

    Hi stevejluke, 'cause in the page "/supporto/_formatting.jsp" there are only the definition of some variables it's normal that the output at the browser it's a blank page.
    The problem it's that Tomcat 6.0.16 cannot know how "navigate" the pages beginning from one...it know where is the "x.jsp" page requested directly by Apache WebServer, where is "y.jsp" request directly by Apache, where is "z.jsp" requested directly by Apache but if "x.jsp" request, includes, "y.jsp" Tomcat cannot know where "y.jsp" is located. There is some file where I can "say" this to Tomcat?
    The page "/mostre/elenco_mostre.jsp" includes directly the "/supporto/_formatting.jsp".
    Another thing: in /mostre/elenco_mostre.jsp there is an inclusion directive for /supporto/_formatting.jsp that is so:
    <%@ include file="../supporto/_formatting.jsp"%>you can see that the included file is "../supporto/_formatting.jsp" and NOT "/../supporto/_formatting.jsp"...the "/" at the begin of the path is included by Tomcat!
    In the catalina.out there are this lines, when the page is called:
    Jul 6, 2008 3:15:00 AM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapperValve invoke
    SEVERE: Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception

  • Help pls ! JSP not working in tomcat

    Hi techies,
    I have a problem in executing jsp files thru tomcat on windows
    The problem is i have my jsp files in a directory, i use virtual directory concept by setting up context in server.xml file to access my jsp, servlets and html files and some jsp files are working properly, but certain jsp files are not working...
    It gives an error saying " jsp file not found.." even though the file is in the directory
    Can anyone help to come-out of this problem.
    Rgds
    sathish

    Hi,
    if you are trying to map a short name to a jsp page, you should do that in the web.xml file not in the server.xml i think...
    Hope this help...
