Too many decimal places to fit in JTextField

I'm putting a Double value into a JTextField (by adding it to ""), and occasionally the value has too many places to fit in the text field.
Suggestions on limiting the number of decimal places (least significant digits)?
Thanks.

    Hi experts
In one of my reports the input is accepted for the user for a field . The field was initially declared as AZINSSATZ ( Data Type  DEC    Length     10         Decimal Places   7 ) . It did not accept the values like 12.5 .Inorder to give 12 5 we need to give as 12.0000005 .Later i changed it ot menge_d , dmbtr and various other data types  but shows the above error.

  • Tab in Mail goes to too many wrong places in SL

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6.1, if I tab down from the To field to get into the message area, the tab first tabs/stops at each and every box in the bar there between the Subject field and the Message field (Customize, From, SMTP, and Signature).
Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Is this some option I can turn off?

You will need to contact Skype Customer Service directly, explain the situation, and request the other accounts be disabled.  Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
You will need to proceed through each step, one at a time. Sign on to the Skype website as requested. Choose the subject and topic which most closely matches the item you need assistance with. Then, continue past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the blue "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip through Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started. When you complete the webform and click Submit, your information is relayed to Skype and you will receive a reply via e-mail.

  • Decimal places in database

    Hi all,
Please can you make B1 do all calculations and store all data in the database to the maximum number of decimal places, and then let users pick to how many decimal places to view on screen?
At the moment, if I only pick 2 decimal places, the database saves and calculates values to 2 decimal places, so in long marketing documents causes mis-pricing of things like tax/VAT.
Current option is to set everything to 6 decimal places, and use round(xxx,2) in PLD, but this makes the user's B1 screen in marketing docs etc very very ugly
    Thanks
    Rajiv

    Hi there,
Firstly, thank you for looking into this, it is appreciated. VAT is at 17.5%:
    Invoice contains:
    Item A x1
    Price 2.22
    VAT 0.3885 (4dp)
    VAT 0.39 (2dp)
    Item B x1, Item C x1, and Item D x1 - all like Item A
In this scenario, VAT on Items A,B,C, and D.
    With 4 dp - 0.3885 x4 = 1.554 -> 1.55
    With 2 dp - 0.39 x 4 = 1.56 -> 1.56
So there is a difference of one penny in this mock scenario.
Hence, all calculations should be done and stored to the full 6dp within the database, however, the end user should be able to choose how many dp to view "on screen" as it were.
    Does this make things clearer?

  • Change decimal places in a KF

    Hi,
I have a KF Amount with Data Type = CURR.
This KF has a data element associated ( automatically associated  when is created) with Lenght 17 and Decimal places 2.
The KF is used in a ODS as Data Field.
Now the user want to update the field, with 5 decimal places.
I tried, but I couldn't change the Data Element. I read a thread that the Data Type has to be change to FLOAT instead of CURR, but when I see the Data Element it changed to Lenght = 16 and Decimal places = 16, and I cant set the decimal places.
    So, Could someone help me?
    Thanks, Federico

    Hi Federico,
The table 'TCURX' determines how many decimal places the Key figure display the values. Mostly they are of 2 decimal places but in the query you can changing in the properties of the key figures to display 5 places. But you would typically not see all correct values. It will just do a rounding with 5 decimal places.
    Hope this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Hima

  • Result set does not fit; it contains too many rows

    Dear All,
We are in BI7 and running reports on Excel 2007. Even though number of rows limitation in Excel 2007 is more than  1Million, when I try to execute a report with more than 65k records of output, system is generating output only for 65k rows with message "Result set does not fit; it contains too many rows".
    Our Patch levels:
    GUI - 7.10
    Patch level is 11
Is there any way to generate more than 65000 rows in Bex?
    Thanks in advance...

    Vara Prasad,
This has been discussed on the forums - for reasons of backward compatibility I do not think BEx supports more that 65000 rows .... I am still not sure about the same since I have not tried out a query with more that 65K rows on excel 2007 but I think this is not possible...

I don't know where the contacts came from on that are now on my new phone. There are way too many and it is not my list of contacts I have on gmail. Where else is this from? I spent a LONG time on gmail going through my list of contacts. There were about 400 and I got it down to about 90. When I went to sync my new phone, ALL 400 synced.
    Thank you for any help!

Sorry for the repeat...new here. OBVIOUSLY.

  • Too many table columns

    Hi,
I have to create a pdf with a table having multiple columns.
But the table has too many columns to fit in a A4 page.
I do not wan to change the paper type. I have to use A4 paper only.
Is there a way in which I can show the table records in two consecutive rows..
so that I can split the columns into two rows.
There will be two header rows... and two data rows (only data rows will repeat)
data row1 will have data from say fields 1 to 10 and data row 2 will have data from fields 11 to 20.
    Regards
    Reema.

As far as I know there's probably no way ID is going to do what you want.
You can place a table across a multiple page spread, but the odds of being able to do that and still keep the file printable are marginal, at best. You can't for example, leave blank space at the gutters unless you are able to add a blank column that spans the gutter, and the limt for multipage spreads is 10 pages wide, whcih doesn't sound like it's probably enough to hold almost 600 columns.
Perhaps placing the table using named ranges of appropriate widths would work...

  • Save data with more than 6 decimal places in SAP MDM 5.5

    Hi there,
I need some help concerning saving data with about 20 decimal places (e.g. 0,00452961328622164) in MDM. I declared the datatyp "REAL", there are only 6 decimal places possible.
How can I save this Data? Maybe exponential function?
    Please help.
    Thank you
    Thomas Pfab

currency takes you to 14 decimal places, if you want to have it as a little work around....you can always take out that symbol if it is annoying.(ohhh and decimal is multilingual too in currency, probably not a good hack!)
or without even knwoing what your requirement is? try normalizing the value, How many more decimal places can you hit?
One 100 1. "ten to the zero"
tenth 10-1 0.1 "ten to the minus one"
hundredth 10-2 0.01. "ten to the minus two"
thousandth 10-3 0.001. "ten to the minus three"
ten thousand 10-4 0.0001. "ten to the minus four"
hundred thousandth 10-5 0.00001. "ten to the minus five"
millionth 10-6 0.000001 "ten to the minus six"
ten millionth 10-7 0.0000001. "ten to the minus seven"
hundred millionth 10-8 0.00000001. "ten to the minus eight"
billionth 10-9 0.000000001. "ten to the minus nine"
ten billionth 10-10 0.0000000001. "ten to the minus ten"
hundred billionth 10-11 0.00000000001. "ten to the minus eleven"
trillionth 10-12 0.000000000001 "ten to the minus twelve"
ten trillionth 10-13 0.0000000000001. "ten to the minus thirteen"
hundred trillionth 10-14 0.00000000000001. "ten to the minus fourteen"
and put that field label indicating the 10th power. Like "Accuracy in 10 POW -9"
Just a wild guess.well thats how we usually show data in catalogues too!
    (or)
separate the integer and decimal portions into two fields and store it in the repository.(split on ',')

  • How come the 0 cannot append last decimal place.

Can someone please help me why JAVA wont display the zero at the end of the decimal place. for instance,
    double A = 6.000
    by right A = 6.000
    However, when i execute this System.out.println(A);
    output of A = 6.0
Can someone tell me how do i keep the the value to 6.000. Not possible for me to use decimalformat class because I need variable A to be a double.
I write a program that correct off value to 2 decimal places, However, it will do only 20.0 when the value is suppose to be 20.00, or show only 5.6 when it suppose to be 5.60. can someone please tell me how to solve this problem. thank in advance!

OK, wtf. Racerunner asks a question and you reply
    Well you're pretty ****** then aren't you.
Specifically I replied to the part where he refuses to use the DecimalFormat. Because that is pretty doomed.
    >
id say that racerunner's initial reply to you
dont bother to explain if u r not sincere, i anovice.
YOU ARE DAMN RUDE! we are here to learn!was pretty appropriate and commendable.Appropriate? I did try and explain it didn't I. Appropriate is arguable. I didn't tell him to f-off I said his approach was f-ed. As in doomed.
    Which it is.
If he took offence to the language... well I took offence to his attitude.
Commendable though. You should find a dictionary and look up words that you don't know the meaning of rather than just spouting them in sentences to look impressive.
You were being a prick at least be forthright about
it.I was being a prick? Again re-read what I said. He said he would not use DecimalFormat. I corrected him. And I was trying to make a point of how doomed his attitude concerning DecimalFormat was.
His further posts indicate that point did not sink in. So all in all I am left with the belief I was not strenuous enough.
Just because you know more about Java than he does
doent give you the right to talk to him anyway you
want - Just because he is an ignorant idiot doesn't give him the right to declare what will or will not work. Especially when he is wrong.
And for the record I can talk however I damn well please and there is not a damn thing you can do about it.
and it certainly doesnt bar him from reprising you.
He called you out for being a dick.
Just answer his question or keep shut.
This is actually pretty funny. I answered his question. Several times. I don't see you answer here.
Where is it? Where is your answer?
Perhaps you should take some of your own advice and keep shut.
Too many people on these forums exchange answers
for the poster's right to respect.
I have no idea what the point of that sentence is supposed to be. Considering the sadly misguided "thoughts" you have shared here thus far I suppose I should not be surprised.
I share lots and lots of answers. I have now, I have before and I will continue to do so in the future. And again when people come here and post questions that show they didn't search and quite frankly need an attittude adjustment I will be glad to give them one of those as well.
So the kid doesnt know how to format a number. No he does. And why is he a kid all of sudden. I suppose this is your way of drumming up sympathy. While his response was fairly immature I'll give you that.
At least he doesnt speak to people like animals.
Yea, you see a screenname - but there IS a person
behind that name.So. I know that's a person. So are you. So am I. So what? I suggest you re-read this thread in it's entirety, especially his second and third responses. Where is your commentary on that I would like to know?
So you know what TuringPest you can take your opinion and shove it where you like. I really don't give a crap. When you have been here a few years and actually helped some people rather than playing idiot moderator then I might listen to your opinions on how to phrase my posts.
But I have many doubt about it.

  • Changing decimal places in measuring tool

    Hi everyone,
I often use the measuring tool to measure old scanned drawings, it is very useful but it supplies two decimal places for mm dimensions, this is really too much.  I am not able to find any place where this setting can be changed.
    Thanks a lot in advance

thank you for your inputs, Jeevan.  we've tried up to 100,000 since any more will make the PO exceed the original contract amount.
the contract involved will be delivered in a span of many months, and billing and payments will depend on percentage of completion.
i hope someone can enlighten me as to how other companies do it, best practice or not.  i'm pretty sure those in construction or property development will find this case familiar. or maybe point me to an article or anything.
thank you for taking the time.
