If you don't mind me asking why do you need a tool or script for such a simple task? To deauthorise a computer you just need to open iTunes and on the menu bar go to Store>Deauthorise Computer.
If you don't have access to the computer you are trying to deauthorise that's a slightly different process. You can't deauthorise 'dead' installations or computers you no longer have access to individually. However once you reach the limit of 5 authorisations you have the option to deauthorise them all in one go from your iTunes account and start over. *Just note that you can only use this option once a year*: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

We're using ADE in a public library environment in conjunction with Overdrive.
Is there a way to automatically deauthorize ADE? Perhaps via script?
Our public machines have reservation software and the goal is to have ADE automatically deauthorize itself after each session. This will put our patrons in a position to enter their personal Adobe ID if they desire to use Overdrive to download media to their ebook readers.
Since media is attached to the specific ID and the device needs to be authorized with the same ID to access the downloaded media, we can't have the copies of ADE setup with a dummy account. If we did this, the DRM would prevent the end user from being able to access their other protected media when their device is reauthorized with the dummy ID.
So, can we automate this process? Having ADE start up without any authorizations will resolve the potential issue we're seeing when our public computers are used as download stations.

Nevermind, I found the registry key that contains the authorization info. If it's deleted, ADE treats launch as initial setup.

3rd party software tools to automate Weblogic deployments/release process

I'm currently evaluating few 3rd party software tools to automate Weblogic deployments/release process - software release automation.
if someone has used products from Xepialabs , UC4 or Urbandeploy etc - can you advise how effective these are please?..
We have around 25+ enterprise level release environments based on Oracle weblogic on solaris and it is manual deployments via wlst scripts etc.
Also any ideas/suggestion on opensource projects would be great as well.

Why not use the CLI and do it that way? i don't know it AppleScript hooks into the terminal and/or can run terminal commands but that may be worth looking into as well.
I would think that it would be a good idea to erase all your drives in the RAID at once and start fresh. Why not back up the internal to a pair of RAIDED external FW800 drives, add the second drive in the Mac, make the internal RAID by formatting both drives and then copy the external RAID back to the internal RAID? Oops, I know, now we have a step 4.
Nobody from Apple ever comments here. We are all users, just like yourself, that just want to help.

Please HELP! = major disk issue - none of OSX "help" tools works (repair/time machine/reinstall)

Hello to all,
My first post, but directly with a very difficult case I suddenly encountered yesterday evening...
When, as usually I opened the lid, it turned on from sleep, as usually, however frozen suddenly... so I did hard turn off... with ON/OFF button. When it turned on again, I had no possibility to put my password, but I was directly faced with "OSX tools" with 4 options (it is in Polish so I try the translation):
1) Recover from Time Machine back up;
2) Install OSX again;
3) Get online help;
4) Disk tool;
I am totally ****** off how this could happen. There was so much stuff on the disk, including the whole Aperture libary with thousends of my daughter photos (she was born a year ago) - priceless stuff.
I would never expect Apple to give me such an "experience"... never heppened to me on any PC's before..
I have 2011 MacBook Pro 13" with Maverics.
This is what I encountered using each of solutions:
1) I use Synology DS209 for Time Machine backup (connected via Lan cable). As far as I remember backup is about 2 months old. Anyway when I choose this option. OSX tool finds the Time Machine in DiskStation, connects to "MacBook Pro" timemachine on the external disk, BUT cannot find any BACKUP further on!!!! I am lost!
2) second, but not preferred option is OSX reinstallation.After initial analysis, and conditions acceptance, I cannot choose the only disk available. I can see only "recovery disk", but when I click on it, there is a message popping up "This disk is blocked". Obviously this prevents any further activities in reinstallation;
3) Third option is BS clearly, no help at all.
4) Disk tool shows me several disks / I am not an expert, so I am not sure how to understand it (Bold is active, standard non active):
- 320,07 GB Hitach HTS54503...
- Macintosh HD
- Superdrive
- disk1
- OS X Base System
I run "check disk" for Hitachi. No problems. Nothing to repair.
I run "check disk" for Macintosh HD => This disk requires repair. So I run "repair". Quickly I get a message "Disk Tool is unable to repair this disk. Please backup as much data as possible, format the disk and recover the files from backup"..... Really????? How can I backup any files???
DEAR COMMUNITY, please HELP!
What to do in order not to loose any data on one hand and on the other be able to use the computer again?
Please note I do not use "recovery CD" all is running without anything in CD/DVD drive.

You are in a bad situation, because the internal drive has malfunctioned and your only backup is on a device that is not suitable for use with Time Machine, despite what its manufacturer says.
You must try to make another backup now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is not fully functional. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
1. Boot from the Recovery partition or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

You'll have to log in to your iTunes account. On the Account Information page click on the 'Deauthorize All' button. You will have to re-authorize all the computers you presently want to associate with the iTunes account. (See screen shot below.)
In the future, to avoid having to deauthorize all and then re-authorize, select 'Deauthorize This Computer…' from the 'Store' menu on the computer you no longer want to use with the iTunes account.

Jdev can do this as well. Select the class you want to re-indent in application navigator, and select Reformat (or use shortcut Ctrl-Alt-L). Your code is re-indented and formated according to code-style defined in preferences.

VMWare fusion turning off automatic virtual machine start

Hello,
Possibly not the best forum for this question, but I hope some of you use VMWare fusion to run Windows on your MAC.
I originally used VMWare fusion eacy windows install to install XP Home as my virtual machine with automatic start up of XP home when VMWare fusion starts. I have subsequently created a new virtual machine for Windows 7 release candidate and want to automatically start this rather than XP when VMWare fusion starts. However I cannot fathom out how to stop VMWare fusion automatically loading and starting XP.
Any ideas? I should probably post this to a VMWare fusion forum, but cannot work out how to do that! I can see the appropriate VMWare forums but cannot see any way to post new threads. I do have a VMWare account.

Sending Premiere Pro sequence to Pro Tools for automatic audio conforming

I’m looking to implement an online-offline workflow at my production company, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s feasible to send a sequence from Premiere Pro to Pro Tools with enough metadata to take advantage of Pro Tools’ automatic conforming feature.
Premiere Pro or Audition doesn't seem to have any kind of feature like this, so I’m turning to Pro Tools. Here’s a demonstration of the feature from Avid: http://youtu.be/Gz9e9LuIdXU
For color grading, we’re already sending XML from Premiere Pro into DaVinci Resolve, and DaVinci Resolve perfectly automatically conforms the offline proxies to online high-quality clips suitable for grading. I’m trying to accomplish the same thing with the audio clips to prepare a sequence for sound mixing. The offline proxies in a sequence contain only compressed stereo tracks, but online audio clips have all of the separate uncompressed tracks for each microphone.
My initial thought was that, before any offline editing occurs, I might, in the Premiere Pro Metadata panel, add the names of the sound rolls to all the offline proxies in the “Tape Name” field.
I’m wondering if that metadata for those clips in the Premiere Pro Project Panel are included in an EDL that would be exported out of Premiere Pro, so that Pro Tools would know how to correctly choose online audio clips.
I know EDLs contain timecode, and that seems like it would be sufficient for Pro Tools, if production only occurred within one day. However, if there are audio clips recorded on different days, at the same time of day, some audio clips in a sequence would have identical timecode, and Pro Tools wouldn’t know which clip to automatically conform. It seems like Pro Tools would choose which clip to conform by first looking at timecode, and then if there were multiple clips with the same timecode, it would resolve the conflict by identifying the specific sound roll. This is why it seems important to have the sound roll metadata included in the EDL out of Premiere Pro.
EdiLoad looks like software that might be able to batch update sound roll metadata for an EDL already exported out of Premiere, but I’m not sure.

Manually going through Pro Tools and assigning correct sound rolls in a picture-locked cut wouldn’t really be an improvement over manually conforming. If I have to go through a cut and locate online audio clips, I might as well just conform manually.
So my questions are:
When exporting an EDL out of Premiere, does the EDL include “Tape Name” metadata for Pro Tools to read as a sound roll? If not, is there another format I could use that would make this round-trip feasible?
If not, does anyone have experience with EdiLoad? Would EdiLoad work to do what I'm trying to do?
Is there any other way to accomplish automatic conforming, or something else that I'm missing?

Automatic Time Machine backups to Mac on local network

Hi,
I've got a headless Mac mini on my network that just runs as a fileserver and doesn't need to be backed up with Time Machine, but it's a convenient place to attach an external USB drive so that my PowerBook and MacBook can back up to it wirelessly.
When I first set up Time Machine on each laptop, the backup disk showed up under 'Change Disk...' in prefs -- I guess the disk was already mounted. The initial backup took forever but worked fine, and subsequent backups have worked fine too. (Everything's running 10.5.2, by the way.)
The problem is that, when the remote drive becomes unmounted (e.g. when I take a laptop to work and back), Time Machine stops backing up automatically until the drive is manually remounted or the "Backup now" option is chosen under the Time Machine menu. When left to its own devices it just sits there forever in "Next backup: When Mac is plugged in" mode, which isn't really what I want -- I was hoping to "set & forget".
So I suppose my question is: can I fix this by actually enabling Time Machine on the Mac mini, rather than just treating the drive as a vanilla network share? I've noticed that the remote drive icon changes when Time Machine is enabled, and maybe there's some other magic going on there too, e.g. to advertise the drive somehow so that Time Machine knows it can automount it at backup time, instead of sitting around waiting for me to do it. I don't want to actually back up any of the Mac mini's files but presumably I can tell Time Machine to ignore (almost) everything on its local drive when performing the backup, just for the sake of having Time Machine turned on.
On the other hand, I don't want to mess around with it if I'm not going to see any improvement, because at least things are working right now. In particular I'm not keen to go through the whole initial backup again, especially for no reason.

No. Time Machine always knows which Mac is which, via an identifier that's embedded in the hardware on the logic board.

If you said +Create New Backup,+ there should be two sparse bundles, one for each Mac.
If you said +Reuse Backup,+ there should be one, containing the backups from both, and as it says, the MacBook can no longer use the same set of backups.
Question: Is there a way to reattach to that sparsebundle for backing up the macbook or do I have to start all over?
Probably. First confirm whether there's one sparse bundle or two, and roughly how many backups of the iMac you've done.

entries in /etc/rc0, rc1. ...etc .
Since this is the previlage available to the root user,
I suggest you ask your sysadmin to do the job.

How do I stop sub-tools from automatically showing up when clicking a tool in the palette?

I must have clicked something or inadvertantly pressed a keyboard shortcut or something because a couple of weeks ago, the sub-tools on the tool palette started popping up without me having to hold down the mouse button for a second. Now when I click a tool (the rectangular marqee tool for example), the hidden tools (eliptical marqee, single row etc.). Please make it stop! It's annoying as hell.
I'm using PS CS5 on Windows 7.

I don't believe there's any configuration option that changes that behavior, but I know what you're seeing has been discussed here before. Unfortunately, it might be difficult to think of the right terms to search for it. I don't recall if there was a specific fix or workaround found, though. I'm wracking my brain and I don't remember one.
Is there any chance you've gotten the right and left mouse buttons swapped? Do they pop up immediately when you click the right mouse button (as they should)?
Have you reconfigured your mouse double-click speed or any other mouse parameters recently?
Do you have an alternate mouse you can try?
Have you tried clearing your Photoshop preferences (by pressing and holding Control - Shift - Alt immediately after launching Photoshop)?

Managed Servers do not start automatically on machine reboot.

We have installed node manager as windows service.
We have configured a managed server and an admin server which are on same machine.
We are using WLST to start the admin and the managed servers.
The sequence is :
java weblogic.WLST
connect()
nmStart('AdminServer')
nmStart('ManagedServerName')
We are successfully able to start both the server's, however if we reboot the machine, the servers fail to come up even though we have installed node manager as windows service.
We also have Auto Restart and crash recovery as true/enabled.
Do we need to do any other setting??
Any pointers on the same will be highly appreciated..

I'm having the same issue. I cannot start a ManagedServer using NodeManager. I'm using WLST script to start the Admin and Managed Server:

Setting the Crop Tool Dimensions Automatically in the Middle of a Script

Is there a way to set the crop tool to an 8"x10" dimension in the middle of a script? I have a script where it prompts the user to set the crop tool manually to 8"x10" and then crop the image manually, and continues thereafter, and in another part of the script, a message alerts the user to set the crop dimension to 7"x5". I am not sure if this is possible. I tried to load a preset but it does not work the next time Photoshop is opened.

Once you set the selection you can also make the action interactive by adding a interactive transform selection step the you turn on its dialog. While recording the action you rotate the transform 180 degree which actuallu doe not change the selection. However it let the user to just hit enter to accept the selection. If you fail to rotate the selection when you record the action. Just hitting enter would cancel the transform selection and the action would stop at the transform selection step. You can also cancel the transform to stop the action because you made a manual error not holding the shift key to maintaim the selection 4:5(8:10) aspect ratio and you moved a cornor or side. Once you cancel the transform selection you can click play the action will start pyaying from the transfor selection and you can retry transforming the 4:5 selection correctly.

Toshiba Diagnostic Tools for testing new machines

I ordered a Toshiba Satellite T135-S1312*. From Microsoft Store. Since I have 14 days, I want to do run some extensive testing on the hardware and software just to make sure that everything is fine and that nothing is defective. I can do a lot of manual work, but instead, I'm sure there's some diagnostic and automated tools to help speed this up with precision. I'm wondering if you can supply any from microsoft or....if you can point the ones from somewhere else such as the manufacturer so that I can have it do extensive tests on battery life processor speed memory video card performance simulating disc burns all the ports on the laptop and so forth. please let me know as soon as possible. thanks
