Tools and/or techniques for locating a connection leak

I am working on a application that has been hanging periodically. A thread dump showed many, many threads that had called getConnection() were in WAIT state. So it appears that there is a connection leak.
This application is about 50% legacy code from around 2003 and 50% new code. The new code uses Spring JDBC support so I doubt that the connection leak is there because there is no explicit getting and closing of connections. The legacy code is full of strange and hard to understand logic involving connections so it is the prime suspect.
My first idea was to centralize the get and close and do some logging but the amount of work would be enormous so I'm wondering if there are tools and/or techniques that would make this job easier.
I thought YourKit might be the answer but I did not see anything about connection leaks in a cursory look at the user guide table of contents.
So, I would welcome any suggestions.

How do I change the size of the tools and the text for the menus in Photoshop?  I need a magnifying glass in order to make out what they are.

Okay, I've figured it out, so I'm going to answer my own question in hopes that it may help anyone else that would like to actually be able to see what they're doing when using Photoshop CC 2014 on a high resolution screen.
    1.  Open Photoshop.
    2.  Select Preferences from the Edit Menu, then select General.
    3.  Change the HUD Color Picker to Hue Strip (Medium).
    4.  Select Interface from the Preferences menu on the left side of the dialog box.
    5.  Change the UI Font Size to Large in the Text area of the Preferences dialog box.
    6.  Select Experimental Features from the Preferences menu on the left side of the dialog box.
    7.  Select Scale UI 200% for high-density displays (Windows only).
    8.  Click on OK, then Exit/Quit Photoshop.
    9.  Open Photoshop and everything should be readable.

  • VMware tools and hardware version for Cisco vWLC

I am currently running a Cisco vWLC (v8.0.100.0) on VMware vSphere 5.5U2 supporting about 20 APs. I just recently upgraded to vSphere 5.5U2 and I was working my way through updating the VMware tools and VM Versions on all my VMs when I glanced at this info for the vWLC. The vWLC shows a VM version of 1 with the VMware tools not running and not installed. I am curious if it is necessary or even possible to update the VMware tools and VM version for the vWLC. The vWLC is working perfectly fine and I have no issue with leaving well enough alone, but this just kind of peeked my curiosity as I really couldn't find any concrete answers in any online documentation. Does anyone have any insight on this matter?

If it's working, then leave it alone. Some of the Cisco virtual, well maybe most, don't support the VMWARE tools. Updating the version to the latest will make you have to use vCenter as the sphere client will not allow you to edit the VM anymore.

  • I have a USB adapter for my iPad, can I plug in a AT&T USB  Connect Momentum and use it for my internet connection.

I have a USB adapter for my iPad, can I plug in a AT&T USB Connect Momentum and use it for my internet connection??

Probably not normally, Apple has removed some of the hidden features of the USB dongle via a software update for iPad. One of those features was playing host to hard drives, keyboards, etc.

  • I have a time capsule connected directly to fiber connection. I have connected a windows server directly to TC and configured it for remote desktop connection. From my interanet I can access srvr but not from my home. What config I need on TC?

I have a time capsule directly connected to fibre optic point out. All pcs and macs are connected wirelessly to the internet. I have connected a windows server pc to TC. When configured for Remote desktop connection, I can access windows server from within interanet but don't know how to access it from internet. I guess I need to change some settings in TC to get some ip adress for the remote desktop connection from my home. Anyone who can help me out? Appreciate it.
    Narmin

I am a little lost now.. I have read again your title and your first post.. and they seem inconsistent.
    In the title you state.
From my interanet I can access srvr but not from my home.
Interanet is not a word I know.. I assumed intranet...are you talking about internet or intranet? And just to be clear say WAN or LAN.. !! Is your home part of the interanet??
In the first post you state,
I can access windows server from within interanet but don't know how to access it from internet.
Now this is more normal.. the issue is not in the home at all, it is accessible from there but fails from internet. If this is correct, then you can do a few obvious things to determine where the problem is.
But first I need to know are you actually testing from a different internet connection to your home lan.. you are not just trying the public IP from inside the LAN as that will fail due to the TC not doing NAT Loopback.
I am also assuming the TC is the only router in the network, and has the public IP on the WAN interface.
And I am also assuming you have turned on the ping responder and you can actually ping your public ip from the internet and get a response. This helps no end in figuring out where there are issues. Strange but I have no idea if there is a ping responder in the TC WAN so you might need to forward that as well. Also if you have a dynamic public ip address are you using dyndns or no-ip or some other service to connect.
    1. Test bypassing the TC.. plug the internet connection straight into the windows server,, and test if you have access. If yes, the TC is the problem.. if not, your setup on the windows server is wrong.. look at firewall in particular.
    2. Assuming from test 1 the TC is the problem, Post the screen shots of the port forwarding setup for us to look at.. that is by far the easiest way to check it out.
There are lots of references to port forwarding in the TC.. eg
    http://must-know-mac.blogspot.com/2008/07/how-to-port-forward-time-capsule.html
The things that generally go wrong are firewall on the computer that is accepting the port.
The ISP doesn't allow connections on a particular port. (not likely in your case)
The router is behind another router.. double NAT will kill any port forward.
Upnp has already allocated a port.. not an issue as TC doesn't use upnp although a reboot of everything after you set port forwards is well worth it.. amazing how things don't stick properly without a reboot.
IP on the receiving device is not static and so changes.
Not enough or right type of ports are opened. This is always messier than it looks as one port is often not enough for two way communications.

  • Page Tool and Layout Adjustments - for iPad

Is there a good way to resize a document in InDesign CS5? I work at a print publication that needs to re-adjust the page specs to a size that is compatible with the iPad. I tried using the 'Page Tool and Layout Adjustments' but I find them not very good! Or I might not be using them proplerly? Can anyone please even point me to any free tutorials online?
    Thanks
    daver

The new "liquid layout" adjustments are not intuitive and you DO need to see them demonstrated. Here are a couple of videos made by Anne-Marie Concepcion for Lynda.com which are available thru Adobe TV:
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-indesign-cs6/understanding-liquid-layout-rules/
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-indesign-cs6/using-basic-liquid-layout-rules-scale-recente r-and-based-on-master/
    I hope they help!

  • What are "polling tools" and "centralized maintenance" for a Windows 7 machine?

    Hello all.
Can somebody explain to me what "polling tools" are and what they do? What is their purpose? Also may somebody explain what "centralized maintenance" may mean?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Could you pleaes tell us more information so we can better know what you mean? When and where do you find the "polling tools" and "centralized maintenance" in Windows 7? A snapshot would be more helpful.
Regarding to the "centralized maintenance", Windows 7 has a built-in maintenance service,  performs common maintenance tasks in Windows, just lauch Action Center, you will find it.
    More information would be helpful

  • BI Admin Tool and XSLT transformation for XML data source - How it works ?

    Hello,
There is a possibility to import data from XML data source using BI Admin Tool.
In the import window we can point XSLT file. What is the purpose of that XSLT field?
    Why I am asking ?
I thought it is smth like XSLT processor, but simply it doesnt work.
    What I did:
    - I pointed XML data source file
    - I pointed XSLT transformation file
    - Click OK, and still get the message that the XML file structure is not supported
After that I transformed that XML file with some desktop XSLT processor using the same XSLT file, and I tried to connect that file directly using BI Admin tool. Then it works. So it means that the transformation is ok.
So basically one question comes to my mind in that situation:
What is the purpose of XSLT field in BI Admin Tool when it comes to XML data source ?
(it doesnt look like XSLT processor)
    Greetings
    /Michal

    Hi Mariano
Why you need to use XSLT for transforming XML file into ABAP table
Code is a part of some ABAP report. Looks like it is reading a file from file system and updating table after transformation
If you have requirement like you need to read XML file and then insert the data into a SAP table
    You can use
    File to RFC
File to Proxy scenario using SAP PI.
Please provide more inputs on requirement to help
    Thanks

  • IDfix Tool and Appropriate Changes for Syncing with Office 365.

    1. Our on premise domain is .local - DirSync will require an Internet routable extension (.org in our case). If I change my address to .org, will that impact my ability to login to my domain? Is there a special process for this situation?
    2. For the Distinguished Names that show up in the IDFix tool that have the wrong address in the "Value" column, can I simply change the address in the "Update" column to the correct one even if it means changing from .local to .org?
    3. For user Distinguished Names that show up in the IDFix tool that do not have an email address (nor do I want them too) - How do I exclude them from the sync process, what changes (If any) should I be making to these users?
    Thanks For All Your Help
    KB

    Hi,
    1. You have to add the UPN-Suffix on your on-premise Domain. After that, you can Change the UPN-Suffix for specific or all Users. Problems can occur, when Users using their UPN for Domain Login. Obviously they have to enter an the new UPN Suffix, but
there can be other side effects. I would recommend to test this very good.
    2. I never used IDFix tool. I would using the GUI to add the UPN Suffix to the Domain. And changing the Suffix on the Users depends on the amount, but I would prefer to use Powershell.
    3. You can configure Dirsync before the first sync is running. I have created a blog post about this Topic which might could help:

  • Cross-DOM API and/or Techniques for simple image manipulation

Am I correct in assuming that Cross-DOM API calls presume the target application is running? That is, these calls are not out to a "shared" library so to speak, but actually communication between two running apps.
Assuming that is the case, is there any way, within Bridge itself, to do simple manipulations on files, such as scaling, and file type conversion. Am I required to have photoshop running to do this?

Not sure on which platform you are using, and hoping it is not for hires/hiquality purposes, but you could use one of the many engines, for example the AppleScript Graphic Core.
If you want/have to use PhotoShop, for what I know it has to be running.
    Bye!

  • Speed and course methods for location object don't work

I am attempting to use the Location API (JSR 179) to extract the course and speed (getCourse() and getSpeed() of Location object) of the user on a Nokia N95. However, no matter what speed I am travelling at or how good the GPS signal is, NaN is returned. Other fields like latitude and longitude work fine. Why is this? Were these methods never implemented? The problem clearly does not lie with the GPS or the device, as the built-in Symbian applications have no trouble returning course or speed information. Why do these methods not work?

    Hello,
Since you provided no code to show what yu are doing, and you don't give any indication of what " i have some troubles" means, I'd Bing "C# playback .vob files".

  • Need help finding a BIOS flash tool and BIOS updates for HP Compaq nc8230 running Windows 7

I put together this laptop. It didnt come with a hardrive, and basically I installed everything from the ground up.
It is an HP Compaq nc8230, IDE Hard drive, Windows 7 32 bit. The BIOS on it is the original one. I've searched far and wide, but to no avail, it seems there's zero support for this model anymore.
Basically it was never intended to go beyond Vista, back in 2004 when this model was introduced.
The reason I am searching for some kind of BIOS update, whether it is BIOS or SMBios is to get the ACPI driver to recognize the primary laptop battery. This is crucial: it only sees both as the travel battery. Other than that, all else is fine.

    Hi:
Here is the latest BIOS update for your notebook.

You cannot use the windows based flash because you installed windows 7, so I provided the link to the DOS based flash.
You need to use a USB floppy drive for this update.
Oh, and the card reader won't work unless you install this updated driver which is not on your PC's support and driver page.

On Step 8 I found multiple product codes for the Conferencing Add-In for Outlook.  Here's a list of the ones I found in the machines on my network:
    {987CAEDE-EB67-4D5A-B0C0-AE0640A17B5F}
    {2BB9B2F5-79E7-4220-B903-22E849100547}
    {13BEAC7C-69C1-4A9E-89A3-D5F311DE2B69}
    {C5586971-E3A9-432A-93B7-D1D0EF076764}
I'm sure there's others one, just be mindful that this add-in will have numerous product codes.
