Tools in acc ps and lr5.7.1 for difusing bright midday sun?

I sometimes have to shoot out of doors in bright midday sun. Are there any tools in PS or Lr to remedy this in post production? If so, what are they and how may they be accessed?

There really isn't a filter that can magically make those type of images look perfect. It's time to do some test shooting using exposure compensation and other techniques to discover better ways to get the result you are looking for.
The real key to daytime shooting is to try to avoid shooting between 10 AM and at least 2 PM. There are no shadows to speak of, and it's easy to overexpose images. I know that it sometimes cannot be avoided.

  • Flashing Tool Use with Linux and DOS

OK, I am convinced that I should use the MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing Tool on my recently-RMA'd FM2-A75MA-E35.  After reading the documentation repeatedly, I still have questions.
I agree that the way to go is to flash from DOS, and I do in fact boot and run FreeDOS from a USB flash drive for video BIOS updates.  But my new msi board runs Linux, not Windows, so I cannot execute and install the Flashing Tool the expected way.
    1.  So I installed the Flashing Tool on my Win7 system, which runs on a Biostar board.  Can that cause problems?
    2.  Can I put the resulting flashing system on my existing FreeDOS boot USB?
    3.  As I understand it, the Tool will first read and save the existing BIOS code.  Is there an easy way to archive all of those saves and not overwrite earlier versions?  Is there a way to easily change the filenames in the Tool?
    4.  On this new board I have on-chip video.  Is the video BIOS automatically updated when burning the MB BIOS?  Is it updated separately?
    Thanks for your help!

The forum flash tool can be run from any computer.
What it does is prepare a bootable use stick. It also places the required flash exectable etc onto the drive and bios. So all you need to do is download whatever bios you wish from msi:
    >>MSI Downloads<<
Place it on the desktop of the biostar computer, run the flash tool, point it at the bios then to your flash drive. Then put the flash drive in the other computer, hit f11 at boot and boot to the prepared usb stick.
    Then follow the directions.

Hi. After loading a picture into Photoshop some of the menu tools are greyed out and I cannot use the keyboard short cuts, for instance I cannot use Ctrl + T for free transform, how do I resolve this problem. In addition the tool Icons are so small I have to get close to the screen to see them, is there anyway the Icons can be made bigger without reducing the resolution of the screen.
    Thanks
    Derek

Are you working on a background layer? If so, Ctrl + T will not work. Press Alt and double-click your background layer to convert to a normal layer (or right-click BG layer and select Layer from Background) and try again.
If you're working in Photoshop CC 2014 you can go to Preferences > Experimental Features and tick "Scale UI 200% for high-density displays" to make your buttons and icons larger.

I have two faults! 1, an error comes up in Ps CC 2014 "could not apply the saved panel configuration, restring to default and my tools have disappeared completely and anything ive tried I cannot get them back not even the drop down menu in 'window' helps at all. And 2, Lr everytime I load it up it gives me the option to retry or switch to and it takes a while for me to even get anywhere with it I think it has something to do with the catalogs? I've been using these programs for a few years now on a Mac...no problem but when I use a PC when I'm away coz it's the (only) comp available these happen PC's are so useless! Please can anyone help??...

I can give a few suggestions on Photoshop CC 2014, but Lightroom is a separate forum and you should ask Lr questions there.
    First close Photoshop.
Then start Photoshop by double-clicking on it's icon and very quickly after that, hold down the ctrl-alt-shift keys until you see the reset dialog. answer "Yes" to delete settings, and let Photoshop continue to load.
It's tricky to do and may take a few tries, but at least it should reset Photoshop CC 2014 to defaults.

    4) When my computer crashes, once it starts again, it says "repairing" ... but I am not familiar with reparing permissions -- can you explain how I might do that?
If you are running OS X Lion, then you can restart your computer and then press and hold the 'Option' key immediately after you hear the start up 'gong' (usually heard when grey screen shows as it restarts).
You should see at least two Disks to choose from. Choose 'Recovery Disk' and wait for it to load, then choose 'Disk Utility' option in the Utilities dialog.
Once Disk Utility loads, do the following:
1 - In the left hand pane, choose your system partition (usually called either 'Macintosh HD' or 'Macintosh SSD'). Note - don't choose the actual hard drive listed above the partition when using Disk Utility in OS X Lion as this doesn't offer options for repairing due to it including the Recovery Disk you have loaded in memory.
2 - Click the 'First Aid' tab
3 - Click the 'Repair Disk Permissions' button in lower portion of main pane and allow to complete. Ideally, you will get a final message in main pane saying Disk Permissions are repaired.
4 - At lower right of same pane, click the 'Repair Disk' button and allow to complete. Ideally, you will get a final message indicating that Disk Repair is completed and all appears to be good.
5 - Quit Disk Utility > Close Utilities dialog window > Click 'Restart' button (confirm as needed).
You should boot straight into the system partition when complete.
Note - any red text in the main pane text while running the repairs will be issues and you will need to follow the advice given or post back.
If you are running Snow Leopard; then (as David mentions) boot from your first OS X reinstall disc and run the Disk Utility the same way; except you select the actual hard drive listed at top of left pane (not the partition below it). This is because Snow Leopard does not use a 'Recovery Disk' partition and repairs can be run on the HD or SSD itself.
    Hope that helps.

I am using Lightroom 5 and am hapy about it, but recently I hav encountered a problem when trying to edit an image in another program, i.e. Elements. I used the clone tool, saved the result and went back to Lightroom to open the image there. I did find a second copy, but this is identic with the one I already had in Lightroom, and I can see noe result of the clone process.

At the moment I would say it is uncertain whether Acrobat is completely ignoring the change, or whether the changes you are making aren't affecting the ink density. I have a suggestion for a test you could make to see which is the case.
When editing in Photoshop just add a box or mark on the image, for your tests.
    - If this box does not appear in Acrobat, you know Acrobat is not seeing the edit
    - If this box does appear in Acrobat, you know the problem is that your tool for changing ink densities is not taking effect.

  • Problems With Clone Tool on Windows 7 and Elements 8

The clone tool is exhibiting strange behavior on a friends installation of Elements 8 on Windows 7.
Sometimes the clone tool refuses to clone, other times it will clone in over dark areas but not light areas.  We tried resetting to factrory settings.  This worked for a while be reverted to the strange behavior after a couple of days.
It's on the correct layer and the mode setting for the clone tool is Normal and when it works in a darker area it will make it even darker but will not darken a very light (white?) area.
    Anyone know what's happening?

I guess you have some blending mode other than 'Normal' selected.Click on the top-left corner of tool option bar and choose "Reset Tool".

A lot more information about your hardware and software is needed.

  • SFDM Tool (Shop Floor Dispatching and Monitoring), Technical questions

    Hi Everybody,
i am very excited to change knowledge here on the SCN.
Right now I am analyzing the SFDM Tool (Shop Floor Dispatching and Monitoring) and need some more Information, which cannot be found via Internet research. I hope someone, who is familiar with the technical details can support me with answers.
    1. Master Data:
    - How does the Interchange of master data (such as machine capacities in terms of time/quantities or number of available machines) work between the       SFDM and the ERP System?
    - Is there a permanent interface between the SFDM and the master data in the ERP System?
    - If so, which of the master data are communicated?
    - Are there any limitations?
    - Do BAPIs (Business Application Programming Interface) play a role?
    - Is any further master data maintenance necessary, if the customer wants to implement SFDM?
    2. There is a backend component situated in the ERP System called "SFDM on ABAP 1.0". What is the aim of this component?
    3. Does the SFDM work with algorithms? If so, why?
    4. Does the SFDM consider other machines in the same production plant?
    5. Does it work over HANA?
    6. Any further functionalities or restrictions?

    Hi
i wouldn't recommend SFDM for performance problem solving, if this is the issue you are facing.
If this is because planners are "lost" with CM25 because of problems for Production Orders selection and so-on, then try SFDM.
There is no new functionality compared to CM2x transactions within ERP.
The benefits are clearly focused on design and user-friendliness:
    interactive logs
easy configuration of settings and strategy compared to CM2x TCodes
    accessible details
Please keep also in mind the fact that this is working for individual capacities (cf. Rough Guide) and related constraints in terms of capacity category (only 0001 is supported).
    Best regards.

  • SAP Tools vs. SQLTrace and TKPROF

    Experts,
First let me say that I am NOT an oracle expert, I am a basis person.  Such is the reason I come seeking wisdom.
We are undergoing somewhat of a knee-jerk performance analysis, based on some user complaints.  Our new-to-the-organization dba (who has no experience in SAP) is wanting to set up a small performance tablespace within our Production ECC DB and use sql trace and tkprof to analyze what ever it is that they are wanting to look at.
In the past we have been slightly more methodical about tracking down the problem, and then analyzing it based on traces and information within the ST* and DB* tools of SAP.
    my 2 questions are:
    -  Is there any concern with setting up perf gathering tablespace within the production DB
    - Does SQLTrace and TKProf give information not readily available within SAPs performance and administration txn's? (DBACockpit, ST* tools, Etc.)
    (edit: environment is Solaris 10 64-bit/Oracle 10.2.0.2 64-bit  e2900 64/GB Mem)
    Thank you in advance,
    Phillip

    Hi Stefan,
    > At first i think, that the analyze possibilities inside SAP for performance issues are one of the best i have ever seen.
True and sad at the same time.
There would be so much more necessary to really have an end-to-end performance view of data processing processes in heterogeneous and distributed systems like SAP landscapes are.
    >So in my opinion you can mostly identify and track down the performance issues within SAP itself (ST05, ST04, STAD, etc.).
    > > Does SQLTrace and TKProf give information not readily available within SAPs performance and administration txn's?
    > Of course .. the raw SQL trace is much more detailed (wait events, etc.), but to be honest .. mostly you don't need it in a SAP environment.
Hmm... I think this (being able to solve most problems with the currently available tool set) only partly comes from the completeness of the tool set.
At least for a part of it, I think it's something like 'When-all-you-have-got-i-a-hammer-everything-look-like-a-nail"-effect.
Usually the "Wait Event Evangelists" (like Cary Milsap) will tell you that the extended SQL trace is all you'll ever need to track down all of your performance issues.
Then there is a whole group of people that try to catch everything by staring at execution plans and theorizing about what execution step would be the problem cause (e.g. the bad hash join or the bad bad bad full table scan).
The DB-agnostic counterpart will say that the NetWeaver platform already covers everything necessary and that look out for additional indexes or ABAP parameters.
I think the truth lies (as usual) somewhere in between.
All in all I think the key point is to get an angle to the problems at all.
As soon as one can describe the problems in a structured way, (s)he has at least a chance to figure out what is happening when
    the systems becomes slow.
Given that I'd also vote for the most convenient approach - and that is to use the GUI tools provided by NetWeaver.
And the more experienced Oracle tuning-super-heroes can always take a step further and emply the sql_id-data-collection script or one of the endless number of special scripts that are available through report RSORASTT nowadays.
    Just my 2 pence...
    regards,
    Lars

  • Install problems with CC and LR5 CC

The CC install has Photoshop CC listed and is install it but I don't see LR CC.  How do I install the CC version of LR5?
I'm on a 6 core MacPro tower running OS 10.9 and the full orig versions of PS6 and LR5 are already installed.

Zaptrack I am responding to your private message in this discussion as it is relevant.
The current version of Lightroom available is Lightroom 5.2.  This is the version currently included with the Photoshop and Lightroom membership.  If you already have an exisiting license for Lightroom then you can continue to utilize your previous installation.  If you wish to remove your perpetual license and begin to utilize the license for Photoshop Lightroom included with your membership then you will need to remove and reinstall the software.   You can find more details on how to remove and reinstall the software included with your Photoshop and Lightroom Membership at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.
