TopLink ADF binding rangeSet

When iterating over results of a named Query with rangeSet iterator in a JSP it seems that the only object exposed in the loop is the Row object (I assume its the JBO Row). Is there a way to traverse the objects relationships in this situation? For example:
named Query return a Vector of Objects A. Each object A in this vector has a one to one relationship to object B. So without the databindings I could use JSTL notation objectA.objectB.name to traverse the relationship and retrive Object B's attributes.
With databindings I encounter this:
<c:forEach var="Row" items="${bindings.myNamedQuery.rangeSet}">
and then use <c:out value="${Row['id']}"/> etc to retrieve attributes -- how do I refer to related objects in this case?

Can you point me to the documentation on this? Also is there any more documentation on using TopLink with ADF datacontrols/bindings besides the samples available on OTN so far, those are a bit too simplistic.

  • Problem start a BPM process, No ADF binding is defined for the service.

    The service works fine while being tested using Enterprise Manager. But while I am trying to invoke the service from a java client, exception occurs.

    Is there a way to construct a JUCtrlHierBinding instance without involving ADF binding?
    We are not using VO in our application, so the treetable we have is populated from backing bean with ArrayList as wrapped data. What I am trying to achieve is expanding rows via SelectionEvent.

    You need NOT build a JUCtrlHierBinding instance. Instead create list of objects which would in turn have list of objects and bind it to the value property of the tree/treetable.

  • Advantages of ADF Binding/Controller without ADF BC

    I have been using ADF from last few months and I am trying to understand if there are any advantages of using ADF Binding and ADF Controller layers in web application when we are not using ADF Business components?
    I understand that ADF Binding and ADF Controller gives us declarative way of doing things, but apart from this are there any other advantages?
    The web application that I am trying to code uses lot of forms.

    Beyond taskflows and their advantages (basically JSF on steroids with reusability), the binding layer saves you a lot of coding of managed beans and JSF page code.
    Without the declarative binding you'll need to write a managed bean that access your EJB to get the data, then write the EL in each JSF field to map it to the managed bean data.
    The ADF binding also gives you thing like the query component, UI hints, and declarative validation on top of JPA/EJB combination.

  • Unable to deploy after added adf binding

    I want to call a BPEL process from Java so I added a adf binding as detailed in this article

    But when I deployed it using JDeveloper 11.1.1.2, I got the below error

    sorry i just notice you're using standalone version. can you see any errors/stack trace in your command-line console? can you post the exception stack trace?

    Dear All,
    I am fairly new to ADF development too. While following the Tutorial, I selected the "simple" page template. and check the "Create as XML Document (*.jspx). then click "OK", I got a similar SAXParseException exception, however the main.jspx seemed showed up correctly in the "Design" window. Any idea? Thanks a lot.

  • Search Page with TopLink + ADF Faces

    Hi,
    I develop a project with JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0.3984 using Toplink and ADF Faces.
    I test with the embedded OC4J Server.
    I must search in a table with 100 000 rows.
    I follow the tutorial ADF Faces (Chapter 7) :

    The search page contains a search form with the table of results.
    I add a Refresh Condition ${adfFacesContext.postback} that keeps the form from executing the query until the user clicks the search button. (Page 7-10)
    It works, but when I launch the search with some parameters, I have a "out of memory" exception, and the good results are displayed in the table.
    I activate the Toplink log, make a new research, and I see 2 sql requests.
    The first one had the default parameters "%" :
    select ... from company where name="%" and cp = "%" and town="%"
    The second one had the good parameters written in the search form :
    select ... from company where name="Uno%" and cp = "65000" and town="%"
    How to avoid the first sql request ?

    Thank for your response. I have followed your advice :

    After several tests, I simplify the problem. I think that the problem doesn't come from Toplink but ADF lifecycle.
    1 - With JDeveloper, I create a simple named query with two parameters (Toplink).
    2 - After, I generate my facade EJB Session Class, add some debug ouputs to see the parameters in the search method and deactivate the code which call the named query (It was not nessary), and create a JSP page using ADF components.
    3 - I drag and drop the search method from the data control panel to the jsp page and create a parameter form.
    4- I run the application. The search page appears with the parameter form. There is no debug output. When I complete the search form and click on the search button, I see the parameter values in the log console. It's normal.
    5- Now, I drag and drop the collection from data control panel to the jsp page and create a ADF Read-Only Table.
    6- I complete Refresh condition :

  • Problem on ADF binding with BPEL process composed as web service

    I have an ADF page which has its own EO, AM and VO (view1), after I created a web service data control for an existing BPEL process and a command button for it, I found in the binding section, the view1 doesn't contain all its table column attributes, all it has is some attributes such as attributeDef, currentRow, error etc. Can you please let me know what is missing here? What I'm trying to do is bind table attributes to BPEL input variables and call the BPEL process.

    and get to the Web service. You can execute it from here to see if generally this is working, or if you have a proxy problem only

  • Toplink xml binding session.xml and servlet

    I made a project with toplink-jaxb mapping
    with simple pojo object it works fine.
    I made another project with servlet
    and the same session.xml and java classes
    but when my process start it throw an exception :
    jaxbexception : Provider oracle.toplink.ox.jaxb.JAXBContextFactory could not be instantiated:
    It is like the process could not read the session.xml files, but this file and two xml file for the mapping are in the classpath (in WEB-INF/classes).
    Have i to put these files in another place ?

  • 11G: Error invoking adf-binding service in composite with JAVA API

    i'm trying to invoke a asyncrhonous composite via JAVA API. My composite has two services: WS and ADF-BC SERVICE both of two are wired with a MEDIATOR that connects with two BPEL Process depending on two rules.
    I need to invoke a process depending of the input: if the input is A i invoke the process 1 and if the input is B I invoke the process 2. I use the Mediator instead of switch because it's an example in order to build a complex decission system then.
    R1 and R2 are two static rules in the Mediator.

    Talking about the dynamic rules in the Mediator, Oracle documentation says:
    "As of now, only SOAP bindings are supported. There is a dummy SOAP binding in the composite.xml file. This endpoint is overridden by Mediator in runtime through NM property. So, outbound services can be called only over SOAP."
    Is it valid for static rules as well? I means, how can i use Java API to invoke a Composite with a Mediator as first element? I always get the message:
    +"java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.String cannot be cast to org.w3c.dom.Element"+

  • Urgent, Please Help - Toplink & ADF Memory Problem

    Hi all,
    We are using ADF Rich Client, Toplink11g, Oc4j11g. EJB tier is implementing with SessionBeans using Toplink with Database operations. And BackedBeans for serverside.
    Users search records and then update them or create record. For examples user enters cardno in first page and in second page access the user informations. And updates info. Then goes back to first page.
    Maybe while going back to first page some toplink objects still referenced with another objects.
    i am calling a toplink finder method it returns 10-20 rows and showing on a table these records using method iterator. Users select a row and continue with selected row. At the other page the user modify the data and turn back the search page.
    I took heap memory dump of server and i saw that 10 objects in memory.In every search and going edit page this count is increasing. In addition i saw cached objects in memory. There is no problem my toplink cache configuration. But i am not using caching with the other object.
    I am just calling finder method in a backed bean,without using table and method iterator there is no object in memory.
    Is the problem beacuse of adf pgae life cycle?
    I am really in trouble.

    Go to Menu>Tools>File Manager>Options>Memory details, this will give you a run-down of how much phone memory is free and how much is used, then a breakdown of where the memory is being used. Your phone memory is about 140Mb in total (don't confuse this with the 8Gb - that's just "Mass memory" for storage of data like music, video and pictures plus it is possible to install some apps in there. The phone memory is used for processing as well as sotrage, which is why you get these errors if too much is used.
    In the breakdown, you'll see the following items:
    - Calendar: this should only be a few Kb, perhaps a few hundred Kb if you use the feature often, but not too much
    - Contacts: should also be measured in Kb, even if many of your contacts have images
    - Messages: should be measured in Kb, if it goes into Mb or worse still Gb then you have Bluetooth of MMS messages hogging space - save the attachments to mass memory and delete the messages.
    - Images, videos and soundclips should not be large - perhaps a small number of ringtones, images that you use as backgrounds etc. but the bulk of these media files are best moved to mass memory.
    - Documents should be tiny, keep documents in mass memory.
    - MIDP (Java) apps and SIS (Symbian) apps could be filling space, you might be able uninstall some of these and reinstall them to mass memory if needs be, but be aware that some apps must be in phone memory and that some of the space taken by SIS apps will be preinstalled stuff that you can't move.
    If none of the above can explain the memory full erros and you do seem to have a large amount of Mb free, then it could be a software issue that can be solved by reformatting the phone with the code *#7370# - make sure that you use PC Suite Content Copier to backup important data first, and after the reformat when you restore the backed-up data, don't include settings in the restoration and also leave out any data types that you know you don' use.
