Toplink Defaults versus Database Defaults

Partners, your wise advice is appreciated in the following issue :
I'm developing an application following the architecture of the SRDSample,
and all my tables use a lot of defaults, such as, date_added, date_modified,
modified_by, created_by, active, etc.
Any time that I add a new field I have to recreate allToplink' "table.java" classes and
re add the defaults manually. It is a lot for more than 50 tables.
I'm thinking to put the defaults only in the database field, which is a piece of cake.
Would it work as using Toplink defaults in the Web Application?
Thank you.
Roger.

Wahhhh.....okay, it took me two days to come up with a solution to this. Marc, that was exactly the way I thought it should be. I had as the default attribute a PL/SQL function body that looked like:
select person_id into :P27_LEAD_ID from person where username = :APP_USER;
But that never worked. I still have no idea why. Anyway, I ended up using in SQL query to fill a hidden box and then referenced the box in the default using:
&P27_LEAD_DEFAULT.
Even leaving it as a PL/SQL expression and referencing it as :P27_LEAD_DEFAULT didn't work. =/
Thanks for your help,
Jonathan

  • Removing Pubilc folder and default mailbox database

    I have two mailbox sever in our environment, a virtual EX2010 and physical EX server 2010. We had migrated from EX2003 to Virtual

    Can anyone guide me how to resolve these issues so I can uninstall exchange roll.

    Hi,
    Just as what Amit suggested, if you want to remove the default public folder database for a mailbox database, you can clear the value of the msExchHomePublicMDB attribute.
    Here is a related article for your reference.

  • Remove default mail database

    Dues to the size of my default mailbox database I created two new mail box databases and moved (using EMC) the existing user mailboxes from the default mailbox into the two new ones (half in each new database). That left me with the Discovery Search
    Mailbox which I loved (using EMC) to one of the new databases. Am I now safe to remove the default database or is there something further that I need to do first? I read something about arbitration mailboxes but don't know what those are or if they are
    already handled by moving my user mailboxes and the Discovery Search mailbox. When I run "Get-Mailbox -Database" against the default database it shows no objects. I think I'm ready to remove the default database but am nervous about doing that without
    checking first.

    Hi Don,
    Hope you are doing well.
    there is nothing wrong in removing your default database but there are few steps / precautionary measure that you need to take before you remove your default database and those are as follow.
    Move Arbitration Mailboxes
    Move Discovery Mailbox
    Move User Mailboxes
    Move Archive Mailboxes
    If you miss out anything and if you try to remove the Default Database you might face a popup with an Error.
    Microsoft Exchange Error

    Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | NewMove-Request -TargetDatabase "xxxx" ==> This command will get all the arbitration mailboxes and move them to new database to which you want to move.
    Get-Mailbox -Filter { RecipientTypeDetails -eq "DiscoveryMailbox" } | new-moverequest -targetdatabase xxxxxx ==> This command will move the discovery mailbox to your new databse.
    You can move the user mailbox from Admin Center or EMS by using the following command.
    New-moverequest -identity abc@xyz -targetdatabase "xxxx"
    Once you are done with the move of all user, discovery and arbitration mailboxes, dismount the database for couple of days to see if there is still any impact on production (It will not have any impact but best practice is to dismount your database first
    and then remove it after couple of days). If you don't have any issues with your production after dismounting the default database, remove it after 2-3 days. Thanks.

  • Is it possible to change the Database default date format  'dd/mm/yy'

    I'm inserting a date with the format 'dd-mon-yy' in a column, it gives the error:- " a non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected ". I also tried the TO_DATE function but not successful.
    I want to change the Database default Date format 'dd/mm/yy' to 'dd-mon-yy'. Is it possible?
    version is (Oracle Server 7.3.2.0). I checked it on version ( Oracle Server 7.3.4.0) with format of 'dd-mon-yy'.
    May I keep the both formats at a time?
    Thanks for solution(s),
    Tariq.

    you can try with:
    ALTER SESSION
    SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'dd-mon-yy';

  • What's the default mysql database name in Crystal Report Server XIR2

    Hi Experts,
    I am upgrading Crystal Report Server from XIR2 to XI3.1.
    I need to know the default mysql database name when upgrading.
    Anyone knows?

    Hi,
    In XI3.1, when BOE installed with default mySQL DB then the installer creates a DataSource with name "Business Objects CMS".
    And the DB name will be "BOE120".
    I guess in XIR2 DB name will be ''BOE115".
    Also, if you launch the CMC admin page then in the settings link the DB info will be displayed.

  • How to set database default temporary tablespace in 8i?

    SQL> alter database default temporary tablespace temp3;
    alter database default temporary tablespace temp3
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-02231: missing or invalid option to ALTER DATABASE

    As far as I know, in Oracle 8i, you can not set the temporary tablespace as default at the database level; rather you can set it at the user level.
    SQL> alter user scott default temporary tablespace temp3;
    In Oracle 8i, the created users without specifying the default temporary tablespace, those users will by default assign to SYSTEM as default temporary tablespace.
    You may need to assign the temp3 temporary tablespace to all the users.

  • Default collection Database Tables Changed!!!

    Hello,
    First of all I would like to thank Microsoft for an amazing product Team Foundation Server 2013. We recently migrated from TFS 2012 to TFS 2013 and My Team loved it !!! Especially the team collaboration features and "Features".
    My query is regarding Team Foundation Server Default Collection Database. I have a report in SSRS for Test Cases Statistics wherein we use tables viz. - "tbl_Plan" and "tbl_Suite". The mapping between these two tables has been done on
    basis of RootSuiteId of tbl_Plan and ParentSuiteId of tbl_Suite and PlanId of both tables.
    Till Team foundation server 2012 the table tbl_Plan had a column - "Name".
    In Team foundation server 2013, when I compile the procedure written for the Report, I get a compilation error for this column, since this no more exists in tbl_Plan. The column Name exists in tbl_PlanData now. I can't infer how to map the tables tbl_Plan
    and tbl_PlanData to keep my report working.
    Please help!!!
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards
    Yogesh kumar Hindoliya

    You should be using the TFS data warehouse (default db name: Tfs_Warehouse), preferably through the associated SSRS server.

  • Setting the default default tablespace and default temporary tablespace

    Is there a way to set the default default tablespace and default temporary tablespace database wide? I want to assign default and temporary tablespaces other than SYSTEM to all new users without having to explicitly define the tablespace names.

    Hi,
    Well, I assume that OP is using 10g, but exactly what you said, in Oracle 9i, it became possible to specify the default temporary tablespace in the database. In Oracle 10g, it allows all users to set up the default permanent tablespace to set the permanent tablespace used by default. Before Oracle 10g, if the default permanent tablespace is not set up when creating the user, SYSTEM tablespace will be set up as the default permanent tablespace by default.

  • Default signature (the default cursive name) does not display on executed PDF

    When I and my client e-sign a document with our default signatures (the default cursive name), none of our signatures displays on the executed (e-signed by both of us) PDF. However if I and/or client upload an image for our signatures and use it for our profile to e-sign the document, it does show up on the executed PDF.
    The problem is I can’t ask everyone to upload an image of their signatures. The default signature (cursive name should show up on executed PDF. Any idea why it doesn’t or how to fix it?
    Thanks for your help in advance.

    Similar problem. The cursive signature and date stamp appear in Acrobat Pro, but not in Preview. I tried to sign in Preview Document Mode, as suggested elsewhere, and that did not work. This is a preloaded signature I'm working with. It worked on my first attempt when I created the signature. Perhaps that's the only thing that works.

  • Universes versus database views

    why would we use universes versus database views to store sql/formulas/calculations (other than the fact WEBI has to use it)? this is assuming crystal reports only

    Kevin,
    I am a big supporter of using Crystal Reports.  I've been using Crystal for a while.
    However, there is a difference between using universes and database views.  I tend to use stored procedures more than I would a database view just because it is using the compiled code.  However, if you use a database view and need to add a command, you will get a plain dialog box asking for SQL and parameters.
    If you are using a universe and add a command, you are going to get the Business Objects query panel.  With this query panel, you can add a combined query, add a sub query, look at the SQL, add fields, set whether you want to see unique values and designate how many rows are returned.
    All this can be done using SQL.  However, the difference is for those that can't access the database when they want.  They would have to have permissions (and the know how) to modify the database view as they want or create a new one.  If a universe has been set up for them, they can manipulate the universe as they want.
    If order to use a database view and add a command, you would have to know the SQL pretty well to do the same things.  Not a pretty GUI to use.
    Hope that helps.

  • Default columns in default form

    Hi,
    I want to add default fields to default form while creating UDO by code. I can add only one column i.e. "Code" to default form.
    I want to add multiple fields on it.
    Can anybody help me for this on priority basis?

    Hi Praveen,
    You have a code sample in the Help file -> DI API -> UserObjectMD_FormColumns object.
    There is also a sample in the UDO sample given with the SDK.
    You have to use the SDK Help file and samples to search for information, in this forum we help you to identify which objects-methods you have to use.

  • How can I use the database default time rather than Java supplied time

    I've searched over and over and nobody seems to have this issue so maybe its just me!
    When inserting a record I would like the a create_date column to automatically use the database time rather than a supplied time via JPA. That was all times a relative to the database which makes sense.
    The trouble is I cant figure out how to do this in a sensible manor.
    If I specify an column like :
         @Temporal(TemporalType.TIMESTAMP)
         @Column(name = "CREATE_DATE")
         private Date createDate;
    and IDL
    CREATE_DATE TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE DEFAULT CURRENT_DATE NOT NULL
    If I leave createDate null I get an exception. If modify the column to allow Nullable then column is set as Null.
    If I leave the column out of the entity bean and then and create a row then the database current time is inserted. The trouble then is that if I want to read the date I'm going to have to create a copy of the bean but with the CREATE_DATE in it, and this doesn't make sense.

    I should also mention that TopLink has always supported the ability to retrieve the current time from the database for use in optimistic locking. The TimestampLockingPolicy offers the ability to configure the next value being retrieved from the database instead of using the local time from the JVM. Our extended optimistic locking configuration does not currently support setting this option but it could be done using a descriptor customizer which can be configured in your persistence unit properties.
    Using optimistic locking may be a good solution for the last modified date since it will also ensure that you do not corrupt the database if someone else has incremented this value since your last read.
