Topology in ODI

I am trying to create a new data server in ODI.
When I look at the JDBC tab,it gives me:  jdbc:odbc:thin:@host:port:sid. Can I use the service name value I have in my tns entries for the sid over here?
What is the difference between the two?

Hi,
SID is an unique name of a Instance and service name is an alias to an instance.
Using Service name in the driver should work .
Thanks

  • Unable to see the imported files in ODI after executing my java program

    Hi,
I am using the following java code to import the physical topology into ODI11G.
    ===========================================================================
    ImportServiceImpl importService =
    new ImportServiceImpl(pOdiInstance);
    importService.importTopologyFromFolder(importService.IMPORT_MODE_SYNONYM_INSERT_UPDATE,FolderPath, true);
    ===========================================================================
The above code went through fine while executing my program. But, i can't able to see the imported topology in ODI.
Can you suggest me how to import the topologies as well as work repository into ODI through Java programming.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ganesh Kesavarapu

I would do that as a last resort, as it happens to be a client server, I don't think they'd appreciate me needing to reboot a Unix server during the day. Would anyone have any other suggestions?
I just removed the JSPs from the live server, and refreshed the page and Tomcat could not find the JSPs, so I'm sure I have the correct directory. I then made sure the .java and .class files were deleted from the work directory, uploaded my new files (again) and hit refresh... and yet again I was served the same code as always, when I view source it still shows me the old source code even though the JSP file and compiled java files and class show that the new file should be shown, not the old one.

  • How to access different Agent from differnt schema in ODI?

    Hi,
I am new in ODI and doing some practical assignment related to ODI agent.
here on one system i.e. 198.168.100.22 my colleague install ODI and  another system 198.168.100.21 I also have installed ODI this is my system with different schema of each.
We also have created standalone agent of each system and Test successfully. We run so many session with this standalone agent.
Now we have to configure his agent in my system and vice-a-verse, he also configure my agent to his system.
we try tried it but for my agent , the Test is SUCCESSFUL but when I created another agent with the same name & his hostname the Test is fail.
Please anybody suggest us how would I access his agent in my system & test successfully(Work Successfully).
    Thanks

ODI-1424: Agent host or port cannot be reached using http://192.168.100.29:20910/oraclediagent.
Here, the IP(100.29) in URL looks different than 2 IPs' that you have specified above.
Also, In topology, the ODI agent should be configured with hostname where ODI Standalone Agent is installed.
will create only one Master Repository and under that will create the 2 work repository
      Yes, this sounds good.

  • ODI 10.1.3.5

In my Demodrive for Hyperion ver 11,I cannot see Hyperion Technology in Topology Manager(ODI 10.1.3.5).I then tried to import the "impexp" folder in which ".xml" files are present for planning.I imported those files but i am still not able to see Planning technology.
    Any pointers!
    Thanks,

I figured it out.It already the planning components. The issue was when I selected impexp folder , I thought all technologies in that folder should import and override the existing one,but that did not happen. What I then did is that , I just selected "Hyperion Essbase" technology.
Right click and then import topology .Then it allowed me to import only one Technology. So I imported planning technology and it worked.BTW thanks for your ODI blogs.Your blog are super cool :)

So are you getting the same error when you try from the installed agent or the tool (Local agent)? Is your agent on the same machine or different machine. If so, does that particular machine can connect to the database?
Also, are you using the same JDBC driver that you are using in SQLDeveloper? Same URL?
Typically, connection refused error appears with wrong instance or wrong port. Try telnet-ing the in the database server and db port. See what happens there!!! The java stack that you provided here is not an SQL exception, it is related to socket creation. It has less to do with JDBC and more to do with physical resources like machine, port and permission.

  • Cannot Connect Agents created for ODI 10g

    Hi All,
As part of installation of BI Apps 7.9.5.2, i have created two odi agents ( WORKFLOW and INTERFACE ). I can see them as part of my services in windows. I have started them. But when have set the required things in the topology manager. when i try to do a test from the topology my ODI 10g completely hangs.
Is there anything i need to check why this is happening.
How can i check whether the connectivity to the ODI10g agents is correct or not ?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Krishna Prasad.

    Hi Krishna Prasad,
Normally when you setup agents as windows services, there is a log file generated in %odi%\bin\agentservice.log, that could be checked for troubleshooting.
If i were you, Before setting them as windows services, i would try running agents as command prompt based services first
The syntax to run the agent from command promt, for windows is given below,
    agent.bat -PORT=<portnumber> "-NAME=<agent name>"
Once you have tested them successfully, you can run them as windows services.
    Hope this helps.

    hi actdi,
    Thanks for your guidance.
we have tried this also....but still the same unstable import....
We have another doubt while execuing scenarios using ODI Java EE Agent in ODI 11.5:
We have one customized jar which we use in our scenario at runtime.
In case of Odi 11.1.1.3 Version, there is a location
    <Middleware>\user_projects\domains\base_domain\servers\odi_Server1\tmp\_WL_user\oraclediagent\ev3fsn\war\WEB-INF\lib
where we can put customized jar, so that at runtime oraclediagent picks up this jar from the given location,
    but in ODI 11.1.1.5 Version,
    at the given location <Middleware>\user_projects\domains\base_domain\servers\odi_Server1\tmp\_WL_user\oraclediagent\ev3fsn\war\WEB-INF\
there is no <lib> folder for oraclediagent.
Is there any different path for the same lib folder in 11.1.1.5? or is dere a miss ?
    Kindly guide.

  • Suggestion needed in export/import ODI topology from one machine to other

    Hi,
I am trying to export all ODI topologies from one machine(A) to other machine(B).Can I export/import whole topology. While doing the same whether created repositories and existing topolgy in machine (B) would be replaced.I don't want to get the existing things in machine(B) to be replaced. Can anyone suggest on this?

you can always select the Import Mode as 'INSERT' if you don't want anything to be overwritten. Yes, you can export/import the topology, logical topology, execution environment by using the options in the Topology tab(top right corner dropdown).

  • ODI 11.1.1.5 topology import

Iam using odi sdk to import the topology in the odi studio and then after importing the topology my code will change the jdbc url or jms queue information from the code only by using the odi sdk.
Now the problem is the same code is working under version 11.1.1.3 but its not working under version 11.1.1.5 iam getting the error oracle.odi.core.config.MasterRepositoryVersionMismatchException: Repository version is 04.03.03.08, 04.03.02.04 required
Further i checked the repository (Master and work) version in the table the version are same.
Iam able to login into studio by using the above credentials.
Not able to understand how to resolve the problem.
What excatly the error means yes iam using odi 11.1.1.5 version for importing the topology.
And iam taking all the values from the properties file.
    Thanks in advance.

EPM 11.1.2.1 is certified with 10.3.5.6+
To be honest if you are using 10.3.5.x then it worth patching the latest patch releases as many bugs have been addressed.

  • ODI 10.1.3.4.0 - Topology Manager Connection Error using SQL 2005 SP3

    Hello All,
I am using the ODI repository in SQL 2005 SP3. I could create my master repository using the following parameters:
    driver: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    URL:jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://server_name:1433;SelectMethod=direct;DataBaseName=ODI
I needed to copy to the drivers directory all files of SQL 2000 (msutil.jar, msbase.jar,mssqlserver.jar) and SQL 2005 (sqljdbc.jar). I am using the JRE 1.4.2 and JDBC 2005 1.2 (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms378422(SQL.90).aspx)
But when I try to connect in Topology Manager to create the work repository appears the following error:
    using this driver string: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC] Can't start a cloned connection while in manual transaction mode.
    using this driver string: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver
Does Somebody know what is happening?
    Regards,
    Wallace Galvao
    Sao Paulo - Brazil

    Hi,
If you plan on using the SQL Server 2005 drivers then you only need the 1.2 sqljdbc.jar file in the drivers directory.
The connection details for SQL Server 2005 should be like the following.
    com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    jdbc:sqlserver://<sqls machine>:1433;databaseName=<db name>;integratedSecurity=false
I would try just with just the correct driver in place, remove the others, restart any ODI components and then make sure the connection information is correct like above.
    Cheers

    Hi,
Did you use the generic installer or the win32 one ? You should use the former with Win64.
You can also check that your version of Java is supported in the certification matrix.

For LDAP default user Root is having all the priviledge to access all the Ldap data.
Go to physical architecture and insert a new dataserver
user - cn=root,dc=css,dc=hyperion,dc=com [ change this  according to your requirememnt  for you it will be   *cn=Administrator ,dc=oracle,dc=com* ]
    password - null
    JDBC
    jdbc driver : com.sunopsis.ldap.jdbc.driver.SnpsLdapDriver
    jdbc url : jdbc:snps:ldap?ldap_url=ldap://<server name :port/&ldap_password=KLLEJMNLKFLBKLKODDGPGPDB&ldap_basedn=dc=css,dc=hyperion,dc=com
    [  for you it will be  *jdbc:snps:ldap?ldap_url=ldap://ten.mydomain.com:636/&ldap_password=<encoded password>ldap_basedn=dc=oracle,dc=com* ]
Here the Default Ldap password for ROOT is SECURITY and if its changed or you are using for some other user . Please use that .
you also need to encode the password using this command
    java -cp C:\OraHome_1\oracledi\drivers\snpsldapo.jar com.sunopsis.ldap.jdbc.driver.SnpsLdapEncoder <enter password here>
Later test the connection and you should be able to connect successfully.

The artcile you provided me, lead me to another one: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms378422.aspx
    I download JRE 1.5.
Based on these, I have JDBC 2.0 (sqljdbc and sqljdbc4.0) files.
I copy only sqljdbc to my classpath = C:\OraHome_1\oracledi\drivers\sqljdbc.jar
    my ODI_JAVA_HOME = C:\OraHome_1\jre\jre1.5.0_11
    Same error in topology manager.
    Data server name: test.ahu.edu, 1444
    Conntection string:
    com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://test.ahu.edu:1444;SelectMethod=cursor;databaseName=AdventureWorksDW;integratedSecurity=false
I am not sure show the share screen shots here, but if there is a way, please let me know, I can upload the screen shots.
