Total Count of Materials in Material Master

Hi All !
I want to know how many materials have been uploaded in Prodcution server.Is there any specific transaction code to count the same ? Or please let me know any other way to check the material count from material master ...

Hi Rajesh,
You can get the material count from the number of records in the MARC table.
It stores the plant level data of the material.
Goto SE16, give MARC & press ENTER.
In the selection screen, give the plant code against the field WERKS.
Now click the "Number of Entries" Tab.
It give the material count corresponding to the entries in the selection.
But for your requirement, i think you have to write a code in ABAP by fetching data from the tables MARA & MARC and then doing the necessary comaprisons.

for maintain " Basic Data 2" view of Material master Tcode : OMS2
Select material type and double click on it. And chose Basic Data 2 in user departments .

During Material master creation

hi friends,
in my system during material creation system will through the material number,
my doubt is, i entered into material master and system thrown the number too but half way i exit that transaction with out saving the material, for my next transaction of material master system through the next number why
and whenever i entered into mmo1 view screen system counted and throw a material number why and how can i delete the numbers

as per std SAP
price in Pr will always be picked from material master
for materials without material master - it has to be entered manually
It cannot be picked from info records
the valuation price in PR is used only to effect a release, if any

After user create a useless MRP view data in Material master data , how to remove it ?

Material master once created cannot be deleted.Only thing u can do is to mark it for deletion
Go to Logistics > Materials management > Material master > Material > Flag for deletion > Immediately.
Give the necessary data that is needed for the view you want to delete.
Press and flag the view you want to delete.
Now the view is flagged for deletion. This means that it's use is limited and it will be cleaned up or really deleted at the next clean up of the system.

Sales Text of material master using create_text

Hi All,
I need to update Sales Text field for existing materials in material master.
(mm02->sales Text view>sales text)
This text will be of 40-50 char length.
Now if i use CREATE_TEXT with following paramters, no text is getting updated in the material master.
Import Paramters:
FID: 0001
FLANGUAGE: EN
FNAME: <material no><sales org><Dist channel>
FOBJECT: MVKE
SAVE-DIRECT : X
FFORMAT: *
Tables:
FLINES: <Sales text>
After execution of this FM, no error message is popped up.
Is it the right way to update the sales Text or any changes need to be done in defining paramters in Function module?

How to activate the new fields on material master(MM01/MM02/MM03) for existing Materials

Hi,
We have a requirement to add some custom fields as a new tab in additional data option(Descriptions, Unit of measure, etc.) in Basic data of Material master (MM01/MM02/MM03). I have successfully added and these custom fields and they are not part of standard(MARA, MARC) but a custom table and the updates are also done in custom table.
For new materials, I can see the new tab in additional data screens of basic data view and I could successfully create/change/display using MM01/MM02/MM03. However I cannot see the new tab/fields for existing materials in the system in all 3 tcodes (MM01/MM02/MM03). This is not a main view in material master so that I can extend it by MM01.
Is there any setting or mass generation program I have top perform so that I can see and maintain these new fields for existing materials. Appreciate any leads or help on this.

Use the above path and create the screen and assign it to the sequence using the below link as reference.

Create list of materials with its purchase order texts from material master

Dear all
Simple question I do wanna ask.
Just need to get out a list with my materials with its purchase order texts from the material master.
As I do know that PO text is not stored on a table, it might be difficult to get it out from the system.
Does anyone of you know how to retrieve it simply?

WM Material Master Data - extend materials inquiry

I have a question regarding WM Material Master Data - extend materials
what is the best practice for extending materials to Warehouse Management views 1 and 2. We have 1 new warehouse with fixed bins 001 Pallet, 002 Racking, 003 Floor, 004 Bins, 005 Chemicals, 099 Quarantine. My question is should we extend 3000 materials to each of the designated fixed bins to the Plant/Warehouse Number/Storage Type for WM views 1 & 2?

As suggested by Raj you can use Mass maintenance option MM17 to update the WM1 and WM2 view
or
You can use the LSMW option to upload from external file (e.g. xls, CSV files)

Create your packing (VERP) material as per the Customer.
E.g.
Packing material   Product   Customer
200000000            ABC         XYZ
200000001            ABC         YZX
200000002            ABC         XZY
200000003            BCD         XYZ
200000004            BCD         YZX
200000005            BCD         XZY
Option : 2
If you are batch managed then and then only this option will work.
Create Characteristic "Customer"
- Assign it a Batch Class (023)
- Assign this batch class to the material
- Now as and when any transaction will be done on this material, you can apply the relevant customer to the batch and separate that particular by customer.

How to avoid material master data migration of inactive materials to SRM

We are replicating material master from R3 4.6b to SRM 5.0 system. Under COMMPR01 , we can see the product status as deleted or locked .
How we can avoid the master data replication of materials which are already flagged as inactive (deletion) in R3.
Pls suggest.

Please try this ->
1) It is possible to use product_id without needing to replicate material masters from R/3 to SRM. For this to work you have to set the flag "Do not check product" in customizing
(see SRM Server > Master Data > Define External Web Services).
We do it like that and it works perfect for us. Only annoyance is, that we have to put leading zeroes in the product_id field.
"Do not check product" is used to avoid product check in SRM (to avoid replicating products into SRM), so they are not checked against SRM product master.
But this is not related to R/3 check.
In a classic or extended classic scenario, SRM will check that this material exists in the backend, especially for the current plant (location), before creating follow on doc.
As you created your catalog item without zeros, I guess SRM is sending this material to R/3 that does not recognize it.
Then you have this error message. Adapt your product IDs to be aligned with R/3 material master.
2) Try to run the report BBP_PRODUCT_SETTINGS_MW, there you select user as SRM instead of CRM and select service product active
3) Did you already checked OSS note 722600 and 366135 ? Also, Check the SAP OSS Notes - 786345, OSS Note 456753. It talks abt the internal and external representation of product ID in catalog and R3 system.

Check first with one record you are able to create the material Manually by using tcode MM01.
Or Rerun the batch Input in Foreground mode so that you can see the error or whether Materila no is created
I do not think so any test mode in Batch Input session.
Check the Log in SM35 for your session if you have any error messages.
