Totally lost, DOS through java

I am trying to run ftp in DOS by using the following code, only its not working, when I run the program it opens the DOS window but nothing happens, it does run but returns me two the command prompt straight away. If anyone can help it would be great, thanks in advance.
import java.io.*;
class DosCmd{
public static void main(String [] args){
     String cmd = "Notepad.bat";
try{
     Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
     Process child = rt.exec("start ftp /c ftp 172.20.2.134");
     child.waitFor();
     catch(IOException io){}
     catch(InterruptedException e) {}

Try changing the line:
Process child = rt.exec("start ftp /c ftp 172.20.2.134");
To:
Process child = rt.exec("cmd.exe /c start ftp 172.20.2.134");

  • Java EE5 Tutorial - Totally lost!

    HI I'm just working through the Java EE5 Tutorial.
    I'm using:
    Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 9 Update 1 Patch 1
    installed in C:\Sun\SDK
    The tutorial/example projects are therefore in:
    C:\Sun\SDK\domains\domain1\docroot\javaeetutorial5\examples\web\bookstore1
    Netbeans IDE 5.5.1
    I'm having problems specifically with Chapter 2: Populating the Example Database
    The instructions state:
    When you deploy any of the Duke's Bookstore applications using ant deploy, the database is automatically populated at the same time. If you want to populate the database separately from the deploy task or are using NetBeans 5.5 to deploy the application, follow these steps:
    1. In a terminal window, go to the books directory or any one of the bookstore1 through bookstore6 example directories.
    2. Start the Java DB database server. For instructions, see Starting and Stopping the Java DB Database Server. You don't have to do this if you are using NetBeans 5.5. It starts the database server automatically.
    3. Run ant create-tables. This task runs a command to read the file tutorial.sql and execute the SQL commands contained in the file.
    At the end of the processing, you should see the following output:
    [sql] 181 of 181 SQL statements executed successfully
    The first problem I have is that the Runtime/Databases section, I cannot connect to:
    jdbc:derby://localhost:1527/sample
    (though I don't think this matters for this problem)
    Next if I use the ant command from the command prompt I get:
    C:\Sun\SDK\domains\domain1\docroot\javaeetutorial5\examples\web\bookstore1>ant c
    reate-tables
    'ant' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
    C:\Sun\SDK\domains\domain1\docroot\javaeetutorial5\examples\web\bookstore1>Using asant I get:

    Query:ReadObjectQuery(com.sun.bookstore.database.Book)Can anyone give me any pointers as to what I'm doing wrong?
    I must say that I find the whole tutorial completely inaccessible, as it seems to give no tutorial at all, simply stating a stream of remotely connected facts, without any practical example. Is there an alternative book/guide to working through Java EE 5 for beginners?

    Dear all
    I am having a similar problem with the bookstore1 example from JEE5 Tutorial. When I launch it from the browser I get an Exception
    Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2006.8 (Build 060830)): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException

    My environment (under Windows) is set up as follows:

    The tutorial is located in C:\\javaeetutorial5
    Application server is running at localhost:8080
    Java DB running at localhost:1527
    Java DB databases directory is located at C:\\DERBYDB
    I created BookDB database and it is in C:\\DERBYDB\\BookDB
    I populated the database, can connect to it and view tables from within NetBeans > Runtime
    I can also execute SQL queries from NetBeans on the datasets.
    In Runtime>Databases the URL for the database is setup as jdbc:derby://localhost:1527/BookDB
    In NetBeans > Tools > Options > Advanced Options > Server and External Tool Settings > Java DB Database the properties are set as
    Java DB Location: C:/Program Files/Java/java_ee_sdk-5_02/javadb
    Database Location : C:/DERBYDB

    Could anyone enlighten me why the table 'WEB_BOOKSTORE_BOOKS' cannot be found? As I said I can see it in NetBeans and can run a query e.g. SELECT BOOKID, INVENTORY, DESCRIPTION, PRICE, TITLE, FIRSTNAME, SURNAME, ONSALE, CALENDAR_YEAR FROM WEB_BOOKSTORE_BOOKS WHERE (BOOKID = '201')
    Also does the line connector=>JNDIConnector datasource name=>null in the Application Server output have any implication on this problem?
    I will greatly appreciate your help as I have run out of ideas how to fix this.

  • Execute dos commands through java

    Hi,
    Im trying to execute dos commands through java like
              try {
                   java.lang.Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c cls");
              }catch(IOException e){
                   System.out.println(e.getMessage());
              }Not sure if its possible? however
    open notepad would work
              try {
                   java.lang.Runtime.getRuntime().exec("notepad");
              }catch(IOException e){
                   System.out.println(e.getMessage());
              }Im trying to execute a cls commands to clear screen but without luck.

    The question is, which shell do you want to clear?
    I don't really know, but it could be that Runtime.exec executes its command in a new shell window...

    how to clear the DOS screen through java program

    Just some Friday fun. Use the telnet program that comes with Windows and supports VT escape sequences.

  • Error while running executable file through java in WinNT

    I would like to run an executable file with Java.
    - If I try with notepad or paint, i.e. Windows Applications,
      I have no problem.
    - I also can run Non-Windows-Own Applications, except one.
      I get an error message, if I want to run this program through Java.
    I have tried following commands to run an executable file.
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /c "+command);
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /c start "+command);
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /c start /wait "+command);
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /k start "+command);
    command : the path to the executable file
    I can run the application directly, if I click the icon on desktop,
    but not through Java.
    here is the error message I get
    screenshot : http://www.aykut.de/error_message.jpg
    Text : "Security Check failure"
            The Logon System has been tampered with.
            The Administrator will need to re-install.
    my Idea :
    The application is "old".
    I think it was written for Win 3.1.
    Therefore I don't know if there is any other
    possibilty to run a "DOS Exe File" through Java.

    I have just figured out how it works,
    if somebody else here in forum have this problem,
    here is the solution :
    String path = "F:\...\...\Application.exe";
    String envDir = path.substring(0, path.lastIndexOf("\\"));
    String[] command = {"cmd.exe", "/c", "start", "/wait", "/D"+envDir, path};
    Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command);
    "start /Dpath" => path: environment directory F:\...\...\
    "start /wait" => wait until Application.exe terminates
    if you use Win95 or Win98 use command.com instead of cmd.exe

  • How to execute vbscript through java

    hi i m trying to run vbscript (that accept some command line arguments) through java .
    my vbs file is stored in c: drive
    purpose of vbs file : to map network drives.
    i normally run it from command prompt using following syntax
    c:\cscript map.vbs l: \\10.22.122.35\d$ <username> <password>
    code in map.vbs
    map.vbs
    Dim objNetwork

    strLocalDrive = WScript.Arguments.Item(0)
    strRemoteShare = WScript.Arguments.Item(1)
    strPer = "FALSE"
    strUsr = WScript.Arguments.Item(2)
    strPas = WScript.Arguments.Item(3)
    objNetwork.MapNetworkDrive strLocalDrive, strRemoteShare, strPer, strUsr, strPas
    my problem is i can easily accomplish this by using .batch file but i dont want to reveal my username and password
    i just want to know is there any way thru which i can somehow link java program with dos command and execute vbs file
    from my java program.
    the code that i have got is not working properly or has to be modified to work.
              String os = System.getProperty("os.name").toLowerCase();
         if (os.indexOf("windows") != -1)
              String[] command = new String[]{"cmd.exe", "/c","cscript","c:\\map.vbs", '"'+strDrive+'"','"'+strPath+'"',"<username>" ,"<password>"};
              Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command);
    Kindly help me as this is very urgent.

    prompt for the login, the password, and the new share name, and store them in variables, then, you can do something like:
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("net use " + sharenameVar + " \\\\HOST\\share /user:HOST\\" + userVar + " \"" + passwordVar + "\"");with the following values:
    HOST: PC10
    user : toto
    pass : a password
    sharename: I:
    it will result in :
    net use I: \\PC10\share /user:PC10\toto "a password"
    this will map the new share with the given credentials ; there is no need to add some complexity by using a vbscript to do that

    If you have configured webutil without any problems then i presume you have configured jacob.jar file too for Client_ole2 to function properly you need to have jacob.jar and jacob.dll files.
    There are so many topics in this forum for Client_Ole2. Just simply search. :)

  • Exceuting SQL Script through java

    Hi All
    I am making an installer for my application. How do i execute a SQL script through java. Its a sepeate file that has the SQL script for DB creation.
    Regards
    Abhinav

    If you database support ";" to separate sqll, then you can use Statement.execute(sql); to run all SQLscipt once, otherwise you need to load all sqls into Vector, then reun sql step by step. Copy some code for instance:
    public final static Object[] getSQLStatements(String sqlFile) throws java.
    io.IOException {
    java.util.Vector v = new java.util.Vector(1000);
    try {
    java.io.BufferedReader br = new java.io.BufferedReader(new java.io.
    FileReader(sqlFile));
    java.util.Vector batchs = new java.util.Vector(10);
    String temp;
    while ( (temp = br.readLine()) != null) {
    temp = temp.trim();
    if (temp.length() == 0)
    continue;
    switch (temp.charAt(0)) {
    case '*':
    case '"':
    case '\'':
    // System.out.println(temp);
    break; //Ignore any line which begin with the above character
    case '#': //Used to begin a new sql statement
    if (batchs.size() > 0) {
    v.addElement(getSQLStatements(batchs));
    batchs.removeAllElements();
    break;
    case 'S':
    case 's':
    case '?':
    if (batchs.size() > 0) {
    v.addElement(getSQLStatements(batchs));
    batchs.removeAllElements();
    v.addElement(temp);
    break;
    default:
    batchs.addElement(temp);
    break;
    if (batchs.size() > 0) {
    v.addElement(getSQLStatements(batchs));
    batchs.removeAllElements();
    br.close();
    br = null;
    catch (java.io.FileNotFoundException fnfe) {
    v.addElement(sqlFile); //sqlFile is a sql command, not a file Name
    Object[] statements = new Object[v.size()];
    for (int i = 0; i < v.size(); i++)
    statements[i] = v.elementAt(i);
    return statements;

  • Error while trying to access BPEL process through java on localhost

    I have a service (CreditRatingService that comes along with install) running on the BPEL engine. Trying to invoke it through java. However, I get an exception. Below is more information. Appreciate any help.

    this implies to be in the same initial context then the bpel engine, whicuh you cannot be as long as you are not either part of the ejb code of orabpel or a child of it. and if you are you can use the Locator API without the jndi properties.
