Touchscreen sometimes doesn't respond

After my Droid X has been inactive for a little while, it doesn't immediately respond when I use the touchscreen. For example, trying to slide the message bar down, it doesn't budge. Just before it makes the flight through my picture window it starts to respond again. Any ideas? Thanks. Have only had it a couple days.

When you're holding the phone, is any part of your hand or any finger touching the screen...even barely? I've noticed a few times, when I'm holding the phone sort of tightly, the fleshy part of my hand (by my thumb) is touching the screen, or maybe a finger tip is contacting the screen.
I also have a rather strange situation with an unresponsive screen. A lot of times, as I lay in bed before I go to sleep, I'm doing some last minute checks on the phone (I can't put it down! LOL). Since it's plugged in, I can't really hold it in my hand normally, so I have one finger on the top left corner and my thumb on the bottom left corner. My fingers are not touching the screen, but the screen is unresponsive. I have to hold the phone at the top to get it to work. Any ideas, anyone, why that might be?

First steps in troubleshooting:
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Then reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go. (No data loss)

1. Restart
2. Shut down the computer.
    Clean the trackpad with moist not wet microfiber cloth.
    System Preferences > Point & Click
    Try turning off three finger dragging and then turning it on after testing.
3. Is there any Bluetooth device nearby with failing batteries? If so, replace the batteries.
4. Reset PRAM:   http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14222
5. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Choose the method for:
    "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
6. Close all windows and quit all applications.
    Click the Spotlight -the magnifying glass icon- in the menu bar. Enter Disk utility in the box.
    Select Disk Utility from the drop down. When the Disk utility window opens up,
    select Macintosh HD, then First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk Permissions button.
    Ignore the time remaining estimate.
    Last 1 minute may take longer.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

After upgrade to Maverick, Preview sometimes doesn't respond to scroll

When I use two-finger scroll, sometimes it doesn't work, you have to wait or put arrow to other apps and change back to Preview so as to scroll. Is it bug of Maverick? Anyone also face this problem?

I also have been having this issue since day one of updating to Mavericks, I have researched online and many forums are reporting similar and additional problems with preview. As a student i use Preview everyday to edit my class notes, and the program has this aformentioned scrolling issue (and i have to do the same things you do alex to fix it) and i also find that if the preview file or files are open in the doc or in another desktop screen, that if i click the icon for the open PDF, the file does not open and even the double clicking animation is VERY delayed. (Normally if you double click the icon of an open PDF it should take you to that window with the file..)
Is there a fix or any way to report this to Apple to have it updated in a patch?

Ipad2 touchscreen doesn't respond

Hello everybody,
I've had my new ipad2 for just one week. Now the touchscreen doesn't respond at all, even after pressing the home button and start button for 7 seconds and restarting again. Can anybody help me?

I've had my N97 less than a month - everything was fine (even though it was a bit laggy) until Sunday when the touchscreen just stopped working. Tried rebooting, taking the battery & the sim out (& leaving them out), updated the firmware, did a hard reset, and . . . nothing worked.
Today after work I took off the clear crystal protective cover I put on on Friday & - hey presto! Touchscreen is back! I guess the cover was interfering with the proximity sensor (although why it worked for two full days & then suddenly stopped is anyone's guess).
Don't know if this helps anyone but I thought I'd share it anyway . . . (by the way, I've put the cover back on & it seems to be working fine)

When I got in an email a link and I click on it, firefox openes the first time, but when I click on the next link I get the message that firefox is active but doesn't respond.
Opening by clicking on *.htm(l) files works fine even multiple.

HT2513 after updating to Lion, ical is only working sporatically. sometimes it says that it is "updating", but mostly it doesn't respond. Any ideas?

After updating to Lion (from snow leopard) my ical is not working - doesn't respond. Occasionally, it will post that it is updating; but mostly it doesn't work = I cannot add events to it. Also I'm not able to change anything on it.

I can't confirm this, but Lion's new version of Java Runtime distroys Final Cut Server. So I wouldn't doubt if Lion breaks Apple Scripts, too.

Screen ipad doesn't respond during video viewing home sharing with multiple iOS devices simultaneously

A have a problem with the videos app and iTunes home sharing on multiple iOS devices.
This is my setup. On my iMac 2006 with Snow Leopard I have:
- 100+ dvd's ripped in my iTunes movie section
- 600+ episodes ripped in iTunes TV-section in 35 TV-shows
- 1 apple tv, 1 iPad 2, 1 iPad mini
On an average evening my family is watching different tv-shows simultaneously on the apple tv, the ipad, an iphone, and an ipad mini.
This is done through home sharing on the one iTunes library.
All updated apps, software etc..
What happens on the ipads, after viewing for more than 10 minutes, the user interface doesn't show up when tapping the screen. The touchscreen doesn't respond, only the home button works. Clicking the home button closes the app, but the sound of the video keeps on playing. Opening up the videos app again gives a black screen with sound still playing and still no button or UI.
The only workaround which currently works is killing the videos app. Power off the ipad and power on again, reconnect to the shared library, wait until it has found all the content (1+ minutes) and startup the tv show again.
All in all, a nasty way to pause your viewing or switching to another movie of tv episode, or even wanting to finish viewing.
The problem has haunted me for a year now, patiently waiting and hoping software-updates would fix it. They didn't.
A fix would obviously hugely improve my user experience, getting it on par with Apples usual quality of service.
Anyone familiar with this problem? Apple: is it possible to fix it in an update?

I'am also starting to get a new problem - sometimes when waching a movie on iPad or ATV it just quits the movie and you have to start it again
on the iPad most of the time it also shows the wrong cover art. I tried all the hints here, and i works for a day or two then its wrong again

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, read this.

ADOBE READER doesn't respond (Highlighting Tool)

I like making use of the highlighting tool in a pdf that can be highlighted and I like to change the colors as I would if I were using this as a book to help me study.
When I highlight and click properties to change the color....I go through a lengthy process where first ADOBE READER doesn't respond.
Then to add to my 4-7 minute wait the entire screen turns a faded white and I see that blue circle rotating around as a cursor.
When the program decides to advance it leads me to "Highlight Properties" window which sometimes works but as of lately doesn't.
This entire process is very painful. To a Dad who likes watching UFC and ACTION/VOLENT MOVIES, the pain is comparable to watching "My Little Pony" or "One Direction" videos or being forced to watch a "chick flick marathon" on Father's Day! No offense to any of those who may partake in that sort of thing.
Can someone please help me before I take this program out of machine for a replacement?

Having just read your inquiry (I don't work for Adobe, but have used Reader and several other products) by any chance is the document you're trying to work with one that was created as a PDF from a scanned document? If what you're currently looking at was created from a scanned document, then Adobe can't "read it" in that format, as it views it as though it were an "image". Get it? And it can't highlight images, as it doesn't recognize the text. (If this isn't the case, sorry, but I can't help. I purchased a program called Nitro Pro, rather than purchasing Adobe Acrobat, and it lets me create and edit PDF's. You might want to have a look at it.) I logged on here today to view a document I'd uploaded some time ago (prior to purchasing the 3rd party PDF program and just happened to see your question. I was trying to use this online version to convert a scanned document into a Word document, as long as I was here, but it appears that THIS site along with its features, are very limited. I can store PDF's that are already created, but without purchasing, not much more can be done, other than adding text to an already PDF, or highlighting, which you've had problems with.) Don't know what browser you're using, but in Chrome, they have free extensions, including highlighters, that will let you do what you're asking about on any web page. You just download the browser extension through Google Play Store, and go to it.

Phone doesn't respond

sometimes when trying to return to the Call screen. Example: When I'm on a call and need to view Contacts, I'll press Speaker, hit the Home button, view my Contacts then press the Green Bar to return to the Call screen, the phone doesn't respond and will not go back to the Call screen. This has happened several times. I did not experience this issue with my last iPhone. How can this bug be fixed?

Memory needs to be cleared.
1. Clear Apps in Processor Background. Press Home Button twice quickly. In bottom bar hold down an App until the Apps in the new bar start to wriggle. Click the - minus sign of the left App, keep deleting the left most App very quickly until all are gone.
2. Reset, hold both Home and Power Buttons until the iPhone begins to restart itself.
Done.
