TP3: Servlet listener bug

Hi,
First of all, thanx for the new release. I'm really anxious to see all the improvements.
Just started trying TP3 and found a first bug. So here we go...
I've got a class implementing ServletContextListener, HttpSessionListener and ServletRequestListener. In my web descriptor (web.xml), the listener class is registered once.
The problem is the listener is invoked only for ServletContextListener hooks. It seems the HttpSessionListener and ServletRequestListener interfaces are ignored.
This worked in TP2 and the servlet spec does not restrict a listener class to implement only one 1 interface (SRV 10.2 of servlet spec 2.5).
I've tried separating the class into 3 classes each class implementing only 1 interface and this works.
Thanx!
Olivier

Thanks for the tip, I just realized this was happening to me also... after TP3.

  • How do I set up the servlet listener in IIS 4.0?

    I'm installing Reports Server 6i (part of Forms 6i) on a Windows NT 4 (SP6) box with IIS 4.0 and JRun 2.3.3 as a servlet engine.
    I want to install the Servlet listener, but Oracle Installer does not list this option. I have found the Java files that I appear to need under my Oracle_Home/java dir, but I'm not sure where to put them or how to configure IIS to know that I want to use them.
    The configuration steps at the end of Oracle Installer assume I want to set up a CGI listener under IIS instead. I assume I need to set up a virtual web directory of some sort (I've already done so for the HTML file).
    Any help in would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey johncali,
    All you have to do is click on the RSS button for the feed or go to the link directly. Firefox will figure out that it's an RSS feed and ask you if you want to subscribe. Nice and easy!

  • Servlet listener from template

    Hi All,
    I am using jdeveloper 11.1.1.2.0.
    For our adf application we have template project and is added as ADF Library jar to our all main applications.
    In the template project we have a servlet listener for logout.When a session is destroyed the srevlet listener should call a function from the template bean.
    The issue is when the listener is in template project it is not executed during session destruction. But when the same listener is written in the application and a logout button is kept outside the template its working fine
    What could be the issue?
    Please advice
    Thanks
    Susan

    Hi All
    I added the servlet listener for session destruction and creation in the application, separate from the template project and its working fine
    Thank You

  • Using a custom tag with a 2.3 servlet descriptor BUG?

    Hi,
    I just developed a Custom Tag and I'd like to use in my jsps.
    If I add the jsp in my JDev project with the custom tag when I try to build the project I got this error:
    Error(11): oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParseException: Invalid element 'listener' in content of 'web-app', expected elements '[context-param, servlet, servlet-mapping, session-config, mime-mapping, welcome-file-list, error-page, taglib, resource-ref, security-constraint, login-config, security-role, env-entry, ejb-ref]'.
    It seems like when the jsp parser encounters the line with taglib it tries to parse the web.xml against a 2.2 version of the dtd. My web.xml begins with the correct dtd version (2.3). Can anyone tell me if this is a bug and eventually tell me how to solve it?
    thanks,
    Giovanni

    I repost this issue again, now with a simple test case.
    If I wrote a simple custom tag:
    import java.io.IOException;
    import javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.TagSupport;
    public class MyCustomTag extends TagSupport {
    public int doStartTag() {
    try {
    pageContext.getOut().print("FOO");
    } catch (IOException ioe) {
    pageContext.getServletContext().log(ioe.getMessage(),ioe);
    return(SKIP_BODY);
    with the associated tld:
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <taglib>
    <tlibversion>1.0</tlibversion>
    <jspversion>1.2</jspversion>
    <shortname>try</shortname>
    <uri>try</uri>
    <info>A short description...</info>
    <tag>
    <name>mytag</name>
    <tagclass>MyCustomTag</tagclass>
    <bodycontent>EMPTY</bodycontent>
    </tag>
    </taglib>
    and a jsp using the custom tag:
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"%>
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
    <TITLE>
    Hello World
    </TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    <H2>
    The current time is:
    </H2>
    <P>
    <% out.println((new java.util.Date()).toString()); %>
    <%@ taglib uri="try.tld" prefix="try" %>
    <try:mytag />
    </P>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    all runs fine if I have a web.xml with the dtd version 2.2
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.2//EN" "http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd">

    I get the error I report in my last post. (the jsp doesn't compile) If I remove the custom tag from my jsp all works fine (filters, listeners,etc). In my project settings I use the 2.3 version of servlet.jar instead of the ServletRuntime that comes with JDeveloper.
    Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue (Using simple custom tag with a web application using the 2.3 servlet specs)?
    Thanks in advance,

  • JMS Listener Bug??

    I am implementing SIM 7.0 and have enabled a JMS Listener resource. The resource works well and we have no issues with it.
    The problem is when you try to edit the Synchronization policy for the JMS Listener and then cancel it without saving i.e.
    1. Select the JMS Listener
    2. Edit Synchronization Policy
    3. Cancel the dit, you need not change anything
    This throws a Task may have been deleted error. Can someone help me with solving this issue?
    I have been trying to raise this as a bug but have not been successful. Can someone help me with how to report a bug. I went to the Bugs Reporting page but could not determine the proper set of options to pick to report a bug with the JMS Listener resource on Sun IdM.

    That's what I figured with that global interactive I was trying to access the instance variables before so it wasn't showing up under my user. Now instead of an error pop up the error message shows up at the bottom of the runtime UI.
    Error at bottom of page: (Followed by a bunch of package names)
    Unexpected Error
    javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: /jsf/menu/menuActionNormal.xhtml @24,147 onActivate="#{componentBean.doExecuteAction}": fuego.papi.exception.InvalidTaskNumberException: Invalid task number '0' for activity '/Manager#Default-1.0/Global'.
    Warning in the Log:
    There was an error when trying to obtain the environement information: null
    Application: Engine, Module: Main, Thread: <0> StartUpServerIt gives me the top error when I have the notification set up to receive an external notification and gives me the warning for both cases either external notification or internal event. Its an internal event but in the documentation it never covers internal event situations for NotificationWait so I tried both.
    Another thing is when I have 2 or more instances waiting at the wait how does it know which one to go too? In the real example it will be receiving an object from the thread that will have an id number. But in this little test set up how does it know which instance the global activity is for?

  • Servlet also implementing listener interface

    Hi,
    Can I have a servlet "extends HttpServlet" and "implements HttpSessionListener" at the same time? If I add both a listener and a servlet element in deployment descriptor, how the container will instaniate/initialize the servlet/listener?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Can I have a servlet "extends HttpServlet" and
    "implements HttpSessionListener" at the same time? Yes, of course. Plenty of examples of this elsewhere in Java (e.g., java.awt.Canvas).
    If
    I add both a listener and a servlet element in
    deployment descriptor, how the container will
    instaniate/initialize the servlet/listener?Same way it always does: by calling the HttpServlet ctor. The fact that there's a new Listener interface doesn't affect that.
    You're on the hook to implement the interface's methods and make sure they're called appropriately.
    Whether this is a good design or not is another question. (I don't know the answer.)
    Thanks.You're welcome. - %

  • Problem while assigning Servlet to Execute queue

    Hi,
    We implement a IMS S-CSCF on BEA container 2.2.
    A call for us may be several times reentrant. Meaning that for one call we have to handle at least three different dialogs but in major use cases, it will be 6 or 7 for our next deployment.
    We are currently facing to bottlenecks problems and BEA support advised me to try to check if assigning servelt to execute queue could improve the preformances.
    I just wanted to make a try with one of our servlet but I have an exception java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/jaxen/JaxenException.

  • Do we need a listener class?

    I am trying to create a simple page just to display list of values using javaserver faces.I didn't create any application handler and servlet listener class.
    Whenever i try to access the page I get this message "The requested resource (/clientList.jsp) is not available." http 404 error.but the file is there
    Whether it's compulsary to create application handler and listener class.
    any suggestions ?

    did you maybe forget to specify the /faces/* prefix within the URL?
    You have to configure the faces servlet to a prefix path and specify it within your URLs...

  • Global.asax in the servlet world

    Hi you all,
    I am rather new while working with servlets, so I was wondering if there is any way I can have something like this is java:
    namespace Teste
         public class Global : System.Web.HttpApplication
              protected void Application_Start(Object sender, EventArgs e)
              protected void Session_Start(Object sender, EventArgs e)
              protected void Application_BeginRequest(Object sender, EventArgs e)
              protected void Application_EndRequest(Object sender, EventArgs e)
              protected void Application_AuthenticateRequest(Object sender, EventArgs e)
              protected void Application_Error(Object sender, EventArgs e)
              protected void Session_End(Object sender, EventArgs e)
              protected void Application_End(Object sender, EventArgs e)
    }It should be possible to archieve this with servlets but I haven't figure it out yet.
    Thanks is advance,
    MeTitus

    I am a C# programmer as well, and I had never worked
    with servlets before. So far I had no problems on
    implementing the stuff I needed, but this is
    something I was looking to. Fair enough. Thank you.
    So you said that there is
    no way to get a class like this, so how can I
    register a function tht runs when someone runs the
    spplication for the first time or leaves the session?It's important to understand what's happening with servlets. They run in a container that manages their lifecycle. The init() method for a servlet is called by the container when it instantiates a servlet and adds it to the servlet pool. The servlet is then available to handle any HTTP requests that are routed from the container. The container looks at the URL of the HTTP request, figures out which servlet to send it to, and passes the HTTP request to the method that deals with it (doGet or doPost). The servlet handles the request and sends the response back to the requestor. When the servlet is removed from the container, its destroy method is called.
    There are Listeners in the servlet API that are called with the application starts and ends and when a session is created and destroyed. Maybe those are what you want.
    I also heard that I can call a servlet(listenner)
    when the application starts, by setting some
    configurations in the web.xml file, maybe I should
    digg a bit more about that,,,Yes, exactly. You write the Listeners and register them in the web.xml.
    But how is it done?Container magic. 8)
    Not sure how to answer. Ask more.

  • RWServlet & Reports Server PROBLEM

    I have Ora8i, 9ias & reports6i.
    Forms Servlet Listener is up and running fine. However I keep getting the "Unable to communicate with the Reports Server" error. I have been through just about every post, note, bug and document I can find and nothing I have tried works. I've seen numerous mentions of inserting TNS_ADMIN into various config files, none of which made a blind bit of difference. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    hello,
    check, that you have the alias for your reports-server added to your TNSNAMES.ORA files.
    TNS_ADMIN is an environment var. that allows you to point from different oracle_homes to a single TNS CONFIGURATION.
    in case you still have problems, i would contact oracle support services.

    Here is an example using the Forms Servlet listener. Actually there is a bug with the f60all.cab file provided with Patch# 8. In my case I used a backported f60all.cab file. There is a note in metalink about it. Refer to Bug No. 2097653 and apply patch 1138690:

  • Web Forms Not working on Client Machines with Separate Win

    Hi friends,
    We deployed all our Forms on web and we are using Developer
    Server 6.0 ,OAS 4.07, Oracle Jinitator 1.1.7.18 ,Netscape 4.7
    Browser
    My problem is we configured forms to open in a separate window
    this is giving problems on Client Machines they are getting a
    blank screen ,previously we used to open forms in the same window
    (browser ) at that time we didn't get any problem.
    We are using Oracle Jinitiator 1.1.7.18 & Netscape 4.7 as
    browser on Client Machines.
    Thanks in Advance...!

    JInitiator will be downloaded only once - the first time when u connect to a web-forms application. After that - no problem. It is true that the first time it takes a little bit longer, but I think forms are working better using JInitiator. However - it is just a matter of settings how u will make your application to run. Oracle did great improvement of the speed introducing the forms servlet listener. I would expect even better performance with Forms9i. And Win2000 is not a problem, but combination between Win2000 and Pentium4 is. There is a way to avoid your (installation) problems however.

    From the above exceptions i can infer that, the database connection failed due to unresolved datasource name.
    However we have configured all the Datasources, application seems to be having problem in wls 10.3.
    Waiting in anticipation for replies.
    Regards
    Avinash

    Hi Avinash,
    It seems that the application is not able to get the DataSource JNDI name which you have given that the reason you are getting the NameNotFoundException exception.
    Try to give the same JNDI name in the datasource which your application is trying to lookup, once you have created the datasource make sure you test the connection using Test Connection option by which you can be sure that if the test connection can get a connection from the DB everything is fine also check the JNDI tree if you can see the datasource JNDI name in there.
    Hope this helps you.

  • SAAJServet error when sending a SOAP message on 10.1.2

    Hi,
    We have deployed a server application in OC4J 10.1.2 with a servlet listening for SOAP messages (SAAJ 1.2). If we use Standalone OC4J with SSL enabled and HTTPS communication between client app and server, it works fine, but when we move it to an Application Server environment where client goes HTTPS to the frontend HTTP_Server and then AJP to the OC4J, the following exception appears on the application.log:

    The standalone OC4J is 10.1.3, sorry. Nevertheless, we include all the libraries we use (saaj and dependencies) in the appliaction .ear archive that we deploy in both environments. May be a configuration issue?
