Tracing Problem

Hi,
I was tracing a session using the oradebug utility.
oradebug setorapid ' '
statement was processed
oradebug event 10046 trace name context forever,level 12
Statament processed
When i tried to find out the name of the trace file using :
oradebug tracefile_name
statement processed(But it didn't show the tracefile name)
Trace file for the session was not generated but it is still filling the file system. What can i do to stop this ??
I cannot restart the database as it is a 24*7 production system.
Please help me out...

What you are saying does not make sense. If the trace file for the session was not generated, how can it be filling up the file system?
If you are wanting to turn off tracing, use event 10046 with a level of 0 or context off.

Tracing problems

I have a tracing problem which is a bit tricky to put into words.
I placed into a.i a black and white drawing.
I did a live trace, the result seemed ok.
The problem is that the A4 tracing paper which I did the drawing on has also been traced (I think), but I only want the outlines of the actual figure I drew.
The problem arises because I want to put a grid over the figure to place it exactly in the right position and angle etc.
But the grid wont show over the white background to the drawing. That is to say the grid wont superimpose over what appears to be the edge of the traced A4 background. Maybe it isn't the A4 background, but the artboard itself - it has a blue boundary line.
I went in Artboard Edit mode and reduced the artboard to just contain the figure, but that artboard seems to sit on another artboard which is the original background.
I have no idea how to move forward with my exciting project, and it is extremely frustrating.
Does anyone have any advice?

Wow! Your suggestion about ignore white did the trick.It enabled me to do exactly what I wanted to the image - in this case place a grid over it.I cannot express how grateful I am to you for that advice.If you ever come to my cafe you can have a free cup of coffee.

Session Tracing problem?

when i am trying to trace a session using
dbms_system.set_sql_trace_in_session(sid,serial#,true);
command is executing succesfully but the trace file is not getting generated in udump location.
even if i try
dbms_execute.set_ev(sid,serial#,Ev=>10046,Le=>0,NM='')
its executing but trace file is not generated in udump location.
expert help is highly appreciated.

If you start then stop tracing a session then delete the file from the OS the trace file does not get regenerated.
what OS are you using as there are some ways round this on unix, not sure about windows.
on unix you canuse the following.
find the process id of the session being traced using
select s.sid,s.serial#,s.username,p.SPID
from v$session s,v$process p
where s.PADDR=p.ADDR and sid = &sid;
using the SPID run the following as sysdba
oradebug setospid SPID
oradebug close_trace
oradebug flush
now restart the trace.

Dtrace user level tracing problem

Hi,
I am trying to trace user level functions using dtrace , Here is my dtrace script
#!/usr/sbin/dtrace -s
pid$1:calls:$2:entry
self->trace = 1;
pid$1:calls:$2:return
/self->trace/
self->trace = 0;
pid$1:calls::entry,
pid$1:calls::return
/self->trace/
When I run the following command
dtrace -F -s tracecalls.d 4968 f1
It does not find the function f1
Has anyone tried to use dtrace to debug user level functions on Intel x86 solaris version.

Hello Srikant,
You should the mangled name of your function "f1" in the binary. The same name should be given as input to your dtrace program.
Like for example :
nm a.out | grep f1
[137] | 82512| 20|FUNC |GLOB |0 |9 |_Z2f1vuse : dtrace -F -s tracecalls.d 4968 _Z2f1v

B210a/Vista WiFi Communication Problem

Computer (Dell) not talking to printer Thru network properties traced problem to printer port CN08 not responding. Tried "reconfigure" button, got error message 0.00000003 "operation could not be completed" Tried to cancel port to then re-install, got the same error msg. Is this a computer problem, a Vista problem or a printer problem? What should I do? Thanks.

ColdFusion Error Variable Problem

We are currently upgrading from CF5 to CF8, finally. We have
a site wide error handling form, that captures the error
information, and saves it into a database, for an issue log
application. The problem we are seeing in CF8 is that the template
information is missing. We get the original template, but if the
error is in an included template, then we don't see that info - we
get the line number, but only the base calling template name is
shown.
We are using error.diagnostics, error.template,
error.querystring. This used to be sufficient, but is now
apparenlty now. Is there anyway to get this information out of
another error variable, or step up the level or reporting on the
current process? It's painful tracing problems to their source, as
we have a lot of includes.

OK, so in the test environment stop CF, blitz all the CF and JRun logs, start it, run the script via a browser, run it again. Inspect logs.
I can't believe nothing goes into the logs.
And do you have a <cflog> entry as the very first line of code in the script file? And that log entry never gets made?
If the <cflog> entry never shows up, put an Application.cfm file in the same dir as the script, with a single <cflog> entry in it. Does that <cflog> entry get made?

Internet connectivity trashed by AirPort 5.5.3 update?

We have two Macs at home. First one (used by my son) lost all connectivity some 2 weeks ago and now my MacBook Pro lost all connectivity after updating to airport 5.5.3. All connectivity means WiFi, Ethernet cable and 3G via a modem dongle do not work. We tried with 3 different WiFi networks (Internet working fine with other computers, different modem manufacturers) and various wired networks but no luck. I spend two days trying to rectify the problem (removal of the AirPort, cleaning passwords from key-chain, making sure com.apple.mDNSResponder files are OK, tracing problem with tools available on Mac, resets to all h/w components). I now reached a point where router and DNS IP addresses are correctly set via DHCP, Network Diagnostics shows green lights across all (AirPort, AP Settings, Network Settings, IPS, Internet and Server) and says that "Internet appears to be working correctly". However, no Internet can be reached by any application. I can ping the router OK, but no response from outside world.....(switching firewall does not help either).
This looks like a major failure from apple and I am surprised that no information, even acknowledgement is given, not to mention some infomormation on how to fix it or when a fix might be available.
Does anybody has experienced similar problem and perhaps has a solution that works?

Airport Utility is used only to configure an Airport base station. If your 3G modem isn't working, that has nothing to with Airport or your network.
I suggest you start by deleting the file /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist. Then reboot and recreate your network settings.

Email results doesn't work

I'm using Captivate to deliver a quiz and have set up the
quiz to email results. Occasionally - rarely, would be a better
word - it works. However, most of the time I just hear clicks and
the email never comes up.
I'm running Flash 8 in IE (the global security settings trick
from a previous thread didn't do anything) and the quiz is also
running inside a frameset. Recommendations? Workarounds? I've got a
client waiting...

I had a similar problem with the mailto: not working.
Running on Xp Pro
Outlook 2003
Traced problem to the registry setting for email client.
Changed the setting for the email client to show
....outlook.exe" /mail "%1"
The email link then worked.

Vim color glitch using Xterm

Hello,
I recently started to use Xterm rather than urxvt, and there's a weird glitch when using vim. I have cursorline enabled, so the background of the cursor line is a different color from the regular background, and I used this config in urxvt and termite and it works properly. However, in Xterm, when I scroll down, the cursor line leaves a "trace" on the background where there is no text.

This is a screenshot of the issue I'm having, and I am using vim to edit my colorscheme file, urxvt is on the left and xterm is on the right. As I said, this colorscheme gave me no problems on urxvt and termite, but in case I'm missing something I thought I might as well show it.
Also, the comments in the colorscheme file shouldn't have a separate background either, and they don't in urxvt, and there shouldn't be yellow highlighting on '=dar' at the top of the colorscheme file. I don't understand why there can be so many differences from terminal to terminal.
Can anyone help me fix this?

Does the problem occur with other vim colorschemes? Perhaps we can eliminate the colorscheme and any .vimrc configurations or plugins as the source of the problem.
You can create a very basic .vimrc file, perhaps naming it basic.vim
set nocompatible
filetype plugin on
set t_Co=256
syntax on
Start vim using basic.vim instead of your .vimrc:
$ vim -u basic.vim <file_to_edit>
Vim should open with the default colorscheme. Then add cursorline highlighting and see if the problem exists.
:se cul
If the graphical glitch is there, you've pretty much eliminated your .vimrc as the source of the problem. If the "tracing" problem isn't there, change to a colorscheme where you know it has previously occurred.
:colo <my_colorscheme>
Try editing different filetypes to make sure the problem isn't a filetype or syntax plugin.
Edit: Ctrl+l, (Control plus lowercase L) should refresh the screen in vim.

Ubuntu client flakey connection to windows 7 server

Hi.
This is very strange, but:
1) server is windows server, and I can connect to it via java app from another windows machine
2) from ubuntu machine running client app, I can occassionally connect to the Windows Server.
3) ubuntu server: Linux 2.6.24-24-server , running java version "1.6.0_24"
4) windows server: Windows 2008 Server 64bit running Oracle 11g Release 11.2.0.1.0
Both machines are on Subnet 10.* network and firewalls are down on subnet.
I can ping each machine just fine.
When I attempt to connect from ubuntu machine the connection DOES (always) show up in v$session on server, but client not is returned a connection (Yet occasionally does).
I tried to turn on TNS tracing on server but couldn't see any tracing being done (tried setting in sqlnet.ora and listener.ora)
trace_level_server = 10
trace_file_server = server.trc
trace_directory_server = <path_to_trace_dir>
I also tried client side logging with using ojdbc6_g.jar and starting up the java prog like:
java -Doracle.jdbc.Trace=true -Djava.util.logging.config.file=jdbc.properties
jdbc.properties :
.level=SEVERE
oracle.jdbc.level=FINER
oracle.jdbc.handlers=java.util.logging.FileHandler
java.util.logging.FileHandler.level=FINER
java.util.logging.FileHandler.pattern=jdbc.log
java.util.logging.FileHandler.count=1
java.util.logging.FileHandler.formatter=java.util.logging.SimpleFormatter
But didn't get any tell-tale signs...
Can anyone give me some suggestions to check on for A) the java program connectivity and/or B) the tracing problem on server?

It shows log files generated by the system and other applications, etc. The info there is used to aid tracing problems or just reporting potentially useful information to interested readers.

Hide disabled executions in Teststand 4 Operator interface?

I'm customizing the Teststand 4 Full Featured CVI Operator interface.
When running in the Batch model, we often run on less then the full number of test sockets indicated in our model options.
In this case, the unused test sockets show up as disabled executions in the operator interface.
Is it possible to hide the disabled executions?

I was working on the batch model TileWindows changes in parallel and had noticed the tracing problem as well. The TileWindows subsequence from your BatchModel fixes this problem - thanks.
However, I'm able to reproduce a run time error through a sequence of (perhaps unlikely) events:
* start a test sequence with 4 test sockets using the batch model
* run the first socket, terminate in PreUUT, don't restart the first socket
(only the initial TestUUTs execution plus socket 0 will be visible in the operator interface, as expected)
* run the second socket, terminate in PreUUT, don't restart the second socket
(only the initial TestUUTs execution is visible in the operator interface)
* run the third socket, terminate in PreUUT: run time error popup:
Execution is already closed. Not found in list of executions
Operation Failed. [Error Code: -17500]
I'm assuming this has to do with the PreUUT call being before the TileWindows call. Suggestions on how to get around this error? Do I need to force all socket windows back open before the TileWindows call to catch this condition?

Problem with noise/artefacts in AE6 Ray Traced mode.

I'm having a problem with some kind or weird artefacts appearing on parts of an imported Illustrator layer. Here's the import procedure I'm using:
In AE6 I switch to Ray Traced 3D mode, then I make a new comp, add a camera, import my Illustrator file, drag it into the comp. Then I right-click on the Illustrator file in the comp and and select "create shapes from vector layer" then make the layer 3D. I can extrude etc. but for the sake of this post, I didn't do that. I get the artefact regardless.

The sample image is in full res and set to AE's "final quality" mode.
I've tried different setting for the render quality (the same image is set to 10), but it seem the higher the quality I set it to, the more obvious the artefacts become!
I've added no lighting or anything else to the scene, jut the camera and the AI file. I've also inspected the Illustrator file inside Illustrator and I cannot see anything at all that can be causing this problem. Is it perhaps an export setting problem in AI?
These lines only appear when I use the "create shapes from vector layer" option.

Problems with File Names, Placing, and Tracing Options in Actions

I am trying to make an action that would place .psd files that are in a folder into Illustrator, trace using a custom option, (possibly expand),scale, and save. I would like the title to be the same as the psd file but ending in .ai instead of .psd.
First problem is how to to name the .ai file.
How can I make the action base the name of initial and final .ai file upon each individual psd file? In other words, testname.psd would become testname.ai
Second problem is that as I make the action I seem to have to choose a file not a folder in order to proceed. This means that the action will only work for that .psd file.
How can I choose a folder to place instead of simply a file?
Third problem is that I have a custom preset tracing option that I use. Although I recorded this option as I made the action, in each batching cycle the dialog box for tracing opens and I must manually choose and confirm my tracing option.
How do I record a tracing option that will automatically activate as part of an action?

You don't. You need to save it as a LiveTrace settings preset. Only named presets can be properly referenced in actions and then you would bypass the panel. As for the rest - file actions should be overridden with the respective settings on the batch panel, where you simply pick the folders for in and out, not specific files. You don't place them, you simply open them. By placing them, you merely add an unnecessary step that has no practical relevance whatsoever in this case.

Tracing report execution Problem

I am trying to trace report execution which gives me some problems!!!
First i tried to use report builder (via tools --> trace option) to add tracing options and then when i executed the report using View--> Runtime Priview it does not produce the trace file. This works if i am using Live Previewer instead of Runtime Preview.
But what i need is the trace file of runtime Previewer as it is giving me some problem.
If i programatically do it using report triggers using SRW built-in packages then the report builder itself closes and says RWBLD60 has generated an Error. Since my report is very complex i need the help of report tracing to confirm the flow and execution. Please can somebody shed some light into this problem....
It will be great if anyone tell me how to do it!!!!!.
i am using Windows 2000 & Reports 6i (6.0.8.11.3). IS THIS A BUG IN REPORTS 6i????

The first thing I would do if I were you would be to upgrade to the latest patch version (we're up to about 6.0.8.23 now).
If you're still having problems with tracing you could contact support, or workaround by testing the report with rwrun60 and adding the tracing options on the command line.
