Track Height in Arrange View

Is there a shortcut to make all of the track heights the same in the arrange view?
Thanks

yes there are a few different ways
1) if they are all different heights and you want to get them to the default, Move the Pointer to the bottom left corner of a track. The mouse pointer will change to an index finger. Pressing Shift when zooming a track resets all tracks to the default zoom setting.
2) if you just want to increase the size of them all at the same time. Hold down the command key while zooming
3) you can zoom the entire arrange window quickly by holding control and using the up and down arrow buttons

  • When I push play, why does it play back all tracks instead of whats in the arrangement view?

Why does it play the track even when there aren't any files in the arrangement view?

It sounds as though "something" has become corrupted. This can be the result of an add-on, or it might be that reinstalling Firefox will help. Here are some diagnostic suggestions:
First, make a backup of your computer for safekeeping. To back up Firefox, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information].
Next, try starting Firefox in Firefox
[http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode]. Be careful not to "reset" anything permanently if you didn't back up.
Does that fix it? If not, try creating a new (blank) profile: [http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles Managing profiles].
If the new profile works, then you either can work to track down the problem with your old profile, or move key settings like bookmarks from your damaged profile to the new profile, see: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Recovering+important+data+from+an+old+profile Recovering important data from an old profile].
    Hope this helps.

  • How to get back to regular arrange view after double clicking on a rex file

Hi. How do I get back to the regular arrange view where I can see all of my tracks in the arrange window. I had double clicked on one of the tracks which was a rex file. I wanted to see what the slices looked like. Doing so just brought me to a new arrange looking window with the one rex file track as the only track. And now I can't get back.

  • Lock Button for Track Height

    I've just submitted this:
In Multitrack view, the facility be made available to select any track and to lock that track's height at any desired setting, so that it is unaffected by the global resizing of the other non-locked tracks. As far as the user interface is concerned, this could be implemented by adding an 'L' button in line with the 'M' 'S' and 'R' buttons.
    Additionally:
    The ability to globally lock, globally unlock and globally invert the lock status of all tracks;
The use of a 'modifier' key, such as 'CTRL', to 'steal priority' away from currently locked tracks, much like the current operation of the CTRL + Solo button combination.
A facility such as this would allow, say, the video track to remain locked down to a sensible size, or a select few unlocked tracks out of many locked tracks to be simultaneously resized in order to aid workflow.
I've recently finished working on a 89-minute long film timeline that had 199 tracks, and to have been able to selectively simultaneously resize track heights would have speeded up the workflow.

I am also havening the same problem it is driving me crazy. If you find a fix please let me know. Thanks

  • Anyone Know A Timeline Track Height Shortcut?

I use "Shift T" all the time as a keyboard shortcut for changing the track height in the timeline but I would love to find a shortcut for just changing the height of a selected track or group of selected tracks in a uniform fashion other than dragging each timeline manually. Is there a quicker way?
    Any ideas?

Thanks, but using Save Track Height feature is restrictive and assumes that you want to view a constant set of tracks or a constant pattern of tracks.
It would great if the option was avaliable to use the "Shift T" shorcut in combination with other keys to specify tracks e.g. Just Video or Just Audio or Just A1, A3, A5 etc. Much as you can toggle Targeting or Auto Select with the keyboard.

  • Track Height Stays Large After Using Automation

My understanding is that the new GarageBand track height is not changable just like the old version of GarageBand.
The track height does get larger though when you view automation.
I think that's nice, but in two projecs now, I've had the track height randomly stay large after using automation and it will not go back to being small.  I assume this is a bug but I really hope someone has seen this and perhaps has a cure.  It's driving me batty.
    Thanks for any help.

That looks buggy in your screenshots.
When I disable the automation by pressing the Show/Hide Automation button, the track will shrink again:

  • Any harm in having over 1000 midi tracks in the arrange window?

The way i like to work is...
to load up like 20 instances of a software sampler, (16 channels on each) and then create tracks for every midi channel in the arrange window. That way, when i'm writing, i can simply switch tracks to play different midi sounds.
Last night I spent hours creating all the tracks, but after I reached 1000, it just says "???" in the track number area. I was still able to create the tracks though, and everything seemed fine.
I should mention that I'm still waiting for the Intel Machfive version, so i can't test it yet.
So my question is, is there a problem for me to have so many tracks in the arrange window?

oh, and one more thing. it said "???" in the arrange window, but it showed the track number in the mixer. This is a good sign, right?

  • Cursor snap to bar in arrange view

Is it possible for the cursor to snap to the bar or beat when I click in the arrange view like in garageband? I have messed around with the different snap to settings but the cursor will not snap to the division bars, how do I do this?

Do you mean the Playhead ? If you click in the timeline, to place it, just hold the mouse down for 1-2 seconds and it will snap to the nearest division value.
    regards, Erik.

  • Delete (as in Trash) a track from a playlist view?

Because I so despise Apple's new segregated libraries (I'd be okay if I could just shift a few tracks from one auto(cratic) category to another without major effort), I am toying with creating smart playlists of my various genres to ease my browsing. The problem is, there isn't any way (that I know of) to delete a track from a playlist. And I mean delete as in "remove from the library, ask me if I want to move it to the trash" delete, not "remove from the playlist" delete.
Does anyone know of a way to do this (easily)?
It almost seems like a philosophical issue -- I mean, why isn't there a "trash" option in the contextual menu for a track wherever I'm viewing it? There's a clear logic for deleting a track from a regular playlist meaning that it is only removed from that playlist, but left in the library. But in a smart playlist, when I hit delete, I can't remove it from the playlist -- delete has no functionality. I noticed this when playing with iFlicks, which does let you trash a video while viewing it in a smart playlist -- which intuitively made sense to me.
I honestly only go into the library view when I need to throw things out anyway, so having it segregated (and unpredictably, since it's based on filetype rather than genre -- i.e. underlying and indeterminant format, rather than conceptual and -- hopefully -- determinant metadata) makes it hard to predict where a track may end up.
    Thoughts?

  • Change individual track height?

Does anyone know if it's possible to change individual track heights, or am I stuck with global settings?
I can do it with FCP, it'd be nice if Soundtrack does it as well.
    Thanks to anyone in advance!!

hmmm... this does not adjust the height of individual tracks - just all tracks in the project.
you can use 'cmd-6', 'cmd-7', 'cmd-8' and 'cmd-9' to shortcut the 4 different preset track height settings.

  • Default track height

It's only a small problem (but annoying for me due to limited screen size - 1440 x 900), but when I start a new logic project all tracks (at 0 zoom) are about 30 pixels high.
However, in a recently recovered logic file (time machine), the default 0 zoom tracks are now about 100 pixels high. If I want to then reduce the track height to that of a new project I get a zoom value of -12. This wouldn't normally be a problem but I have auto track zoom turned on and in this configuration auto zoom actually makes the track smaller rather than bigger. So, does anyone know of a way to reinitialise the track height for 0 zoom in a project?
    Hopefully that all makes sense!
(all pixel measurements at a guess, btw)

That looks buggy in your screenshots.

  • Track names in score view?

    Hi,
*Short question*: is it possible to see track names instead of instrument names in score view?
*Long story & question*: I am setting up an orchestral template. All articulations of for instance the picolo are in the same instance of kontakt. I use tracks with the same instrument and different midi channels to address all articulations.
In the arrange window I name all tracks appropriate. For instance pic-leg, pic-stac, ...
The problem is I don't see these track names in the score view. I only see the instrument name PICOLO when I switch on +view instrument names+. This is very annoying, as I have 12 articulations for the picolo. I do a lot of editting in the score view and cannot see which staff belongs to which articulation.
Is it possible to see the track names instead of the instrument names in score view? I know it can be done with using extra midi instruments, but I don't want to go that way, because then freezing isn't possible anymore. And importing tracks in another song isn't as easy anymore.
    Thanks, Wouter.

    Hi,
Thanks for your explanation. Unfortunately, it still doesn't help me.
    What I mean:
    - start new song
    - Load a Channel strip setting, eg Pop Piano
    - track->new with next midi channel
    - rename new track to piano 2
The score view now displays Pop Piano for both tracks.
    Ok.... we are getting closer!
Track names do not appear to show up in the Score when using Multi-Timbral instances (1 instrument with several tracks assigned to the same instrument on different MIDI Channels.
What I described in my earlier post does work for tracks assigned to different Instrument Channels.
Time for some feedback to Apple!
Your only solution seems to be to use the Score set method of naming/labelling staffs, and then working in Page view (ignoring the View:Instrument names).

  • Can't get modulation option to show in arrange/view/hyperdraw

I want to edit automation data for the different tracks I set up and want to do this by drawing automation data in the hyperdraw section in the arrange window. However, even after selecting view/hyperdraw/modultation, the modulation option doesn't show up for all the tracks. For some of the tracks it shows immediatly, for other tracks nothing changes and the default option (Volume) stays. I did activate the view/track automation option.
Is this a bug in Logic? I wonder because sometimes after trying to change it many times, suddenly it works.

    Hi Sue...not Steve here...
You don't need to lock the image first, but it can aid in not selecting it for a bit.
    Lock the image.
Create a rectangle covering the whole image.
Place the shape, or text, for the hole you want onto the image.
If text, make it an outline.
Select both shapes or the rectangle that is over the entire image and the object you want to produce the "hole" in the image with and make a Compound Path (Object > Compound Path > Make or Cmd+8 or Ctrl+8).
Unlock the image and select both the image and the compound path, then make a mask (Object > Clipping Mask > Make or Cmd+7 or Ctrl+7).
    Take care, Mike

  • I can't select "audio output stereo" on a track in the arrange window

When I create a new song, in the Arrange window I can
choose "audio output stereo" for a given track, and
access the mixer's output from there. Fab.
When I open a song that I oringally created using Logic 5,
"audio output stereo" does not appear.
Is this something about the file format?
    (a) is there something simple to do to enable that for
older songs, or (b) is there a way to convert older song files to LE7?
    thanks,
    fred, san rafael.

    Sorry, je suis un idiot.
FYI. I went into the Environment window and found "Output 1-2"
to be un-checked. Checking it now makes "audio output stero" an available option in that song.
    Thanks for listening.
