Track the progress of a URL loading

I want to know the progress of a URL I load. The file is about 5mb. I create a new url :
new URL ( "http://<the file>" );
But I want to display a progress bar for the loading. How can I proceed, I don't know the file size (it can be 5mb, 6mb or 7mb).

And, are you sure you don't know the file size? Tryint filesize = yourURL.openConnection().getContentLength();If this returns -1, then it's true that you don't know the file size. In that case all you can do is to display progress in terms of how many bytes have been downloaded. You have no doubt seen that yourself when you downloaded large files.

If you are really sure that it's impossible to click in Recovery mode, then something is wrong with the machine.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional — ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

How can I show the progress of web page loading only in the right bottom of screen?

When I downloaded the first Firefox upgrade that had no progress bar, I somehow found out how to stop the new progress bar (that shows all the progress in web addresses rather than a progressive bar) from jumping around in the bottom left or right of the screen. I had it only appearing in the bottom right of screen. Now a new version of Firefox has been downloaded and is once again jumping around from left to right depending what else is showing on the screen. Most annoying, how do I get it to always appear & remain in only the bottom right again.

I don't understand which way to set all the Options, as it is great having the green status bar showin once again, but I wouldn't mind keeping the name of the file that is progressing as well. Easily read strings while tracking the number of bytes read?

I'm after a way to easily parse and read strings from a file, while also being able to check (at any point) how many bytes have currently been read from that file.
I currently use the following for the string processing:
BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(filename));
String str = null;
while ((str = in.readLine()) != null)
// process the string
}That's all fine, but the files I'm reading can be very large (multi GB) so obviously it can take a while to read them. During this time I pop up a progress bar, and attempt to track the progress of the read. The files I'm working with just now come with a header on the first line that states how many "somethings" (that I happen to be looking for) will appear in the file. I can use that number to set the maximum value for the progress bar, and update its current value as I find them.
However... I'm also about to start working with files that don't contain this information. I've thought of two ways of knowing how much work has to be done in advance of the read so the maximum value for the progress bar can be set:
1) Quickly count the number of lines in the file without doing any processing. This works, but can still take some time for large files, even with more efficient reading algorithms.
2) Use File.length() to set the maximum to be the number of bytes that will read.
I'd like to use 2), but can't work out a way to use simple String based file parsing (as in the code above), but also be able to know how many bytes have been read so far. Using this code means I don't have to worry about end of line terminators, charset encoding, etc - the Reader does it for me.

'Publish to' should be set to FTP server
Site name is the name you give to your site.
Server address - the domain name of your site, e.g. fred.com
User name - this is the specific user name for FTP which they gave you.
Password - this is the password they gave you for FTP, not the password for your account.
Directory/Path - leave blank to have an index.html file at root level and the site in a folder with its name, so that entering just the domain name takes you to the site. Or if you want it within a folder, enter the folder name.
Protocol: FTP
Website URL os the address which will reach your home page: if there is nothing in the Directory/Path field it will be just the domain name.

How come you cant sync walks to the nike plus app? People have to start somewhere when beginning a new exercise program and would like to track my progress just as much as runners do! Anyone know when they are gonna start letting this happen?

I only walk because of back surgery and knee issues and I really want to track my progress on Nike Plus to encourage me to do better and it only syncs runs. If someone knows if im doing something wrong other than going to site from my ipod and trying please let me know what i should be doing. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Regarding the tracking the live progress of the cube processing.

Good Morning. As we are having multiple cube applicatons as part of our project, there are multiple cubes for which we need to evaluate the completion time for the cube processing.
By referencing one cube, the cube processing is taking one hour one day and some other day, It is taking an hour for completion. Beacuse of this reason, we could not be able to asses the time for completion of cube processing.
Is there any chance to track the live status of the cube processing?. Which means, the expected time for completion? How many measure group processing are completed and how many left?
Please provide your inputs on this.

According to your description, you want to monitor the progress of cube processing. Right?
In Analysis Services, there are several tools can help us monitor the processing performance, like SQL Profiler, AS Trace, Performance Monitor, etc. We can also use XMLA command or DMV to get the information. Please see:

However, if you want to get the exact live data of the cube processing, Olaf's script can be an effective solution to get the current processing status for some measures or dimensions. But some information still can't be traced, like expected time for completion,
etc. So for your requirement, it can't be fully achieved.

I have problem that seems to be Firefox-specific: the url loads correctly but the page doesn't show. The other browsers are unaffected.

The page urls load properly but the pages generally don't show. I have been using Firefox 5 on Linux Mint 11. I have no idea which Firefox version I have on the Windows 7 PC as the Firefox "About Firefox" page doesn't display. Some web pages don't seem to be affected by the Firefox problem. As a workaround, I am using non-Firefox browsers like: on Linux- Konqueror, Opera, Seamonkey, Chrome; on Windows: Internet Explorer, Opera, Chrome; the iPod Safari and Android browser.

I recently installed Yosemite in my computer, hours later while I was using the new OS X my computer freezed. I held the power button and it turned off. Now, I'm trying to power on the computer and when the progress bar is in 50% the computer turns off.

The operating system, XP in this particular case, will shutdown the system to prevent damage to hardware if it encounters an instruction which can damage the system. It will usually logs an event which you can view by clicking Start, then in the Run field, type eventvwr.msc and click OK. Then open the both the "System" and "Application" submenus and look for events which are prefixed with a white X inside a red circle. The 6th column from the left will contain the Event ID which can be used to try and track down the source of the problem.

Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...
