Tracking Down GUI Hooks In Source Code

I'm working on a new project (undocumented code) and have to track down where certain runtime parameters are being changed. The GUI provides a way for the user to set the parameters. I have to track down the GUI code for the popup box where the parameters are set, and then track down what that GUI code is doing.
I was hoping for general advice on this kind of sleuthing. For example, would I want to start with a global search of the source code for the title of the popup box?? Any other advice?
Thanks in advance,
John

The java reflection model would provide some form of
inspection facility, but you would not be able to
affect the object states, only view them. Secondly,
you would require that the source provides this
access...
rusty,
I was actually just looking for tips for searching the source code itself.... I figured that I want can be done using that method, assuming you know what to look for....
I was hoping for tips about what to look for.
thanks,
john

  • Sample source code for GUI

    hi
I am fairly new to designing GUI in JAVA . My applicaiton involves a big form with alot of choice list[ around 7 choice list ] which r populated using queries from database and also when an item is selected from the choice list , a query is ran which would refresh the screen with the result of the query ., this query would be based on the items selected in the choice lists.
I tried implementing it, i was able to populate my choice list with the things i need from the DB using the query . but when i just select anything from the choice list, it would throw me a :
    java.lang.NullPointerException
I am suprised cause, when i select from one choice list, i wouldnt get this error. Also i have not written any event .
please help .. really important .... or just suggest me some source code which i can study and learn !!! please ....
    Thanks in advance

    got to http://www.trash.net/~ffischer/admin
As the GUI is done with swing you will find lots
    of examples.
I think the DBComboBox wil lgive you some hints...
..all source is there as well.

  • How to track transfer rule / transformation changes (in source code)?

    Hi all,
let's say i add a routine to a transfer rule and i transport the change request to production, there's a way to know after that what was changed doing a comparison between the two source codes?
Also, in the change request i have in this case one or more routine hashcodes like for example 4G0HLLGZZ0HR9BQQVMG7JTIBW, through this alphanumeric value i can track which routine was modified?
Thanks a lot for the help
    Regards
    Stefano

There is no version control for the code in Transformation Rules.  If you could change your logic to call an ABAP Class then you could have some kind of version control with the Class instead.  Hope that helps.

  • How to track DDL Changes and source code changes

How can I track the DDL Changes and the Source code (Functions,Procedures,Packages & views) changes made for selective schemas?.
I mean I want to maintain the history of DDL changes and the sourcecode change history. How to do that? Please provide your guideline with some example...

    Hi,
you could use a DDL trigger (before create)
to maybe capture the code and do the audit as well?
    Try this:
    SQL>create table old_code
    2 as
    3 select user username, 0 version, sysdate date_changed, user_source.*
    4 from user_source
    5 where 1=0
    6 /
    Table created.
    SQL>create sequence version_seq;
    Sequence created.
SQL> create or replace trigger create_trigger
    2 before create on schema
    3 declare
    4 l_date date := sysdate;
    5 l_ver number;
    6 begin
7 if (ora_dict_obj_type in ( 'PACKAGE', 'PACKAGE BODY', 'PROCEDURE',
    'FUNCTION' ) )
    8 then
    9 select version_seq.nextval into l_ver from dual;
    10
    11 insert into old_code
    12 select user, l_ver, l_date, user_source.*
    13 from user_source
    14 where name = ora_dict_obj_name
    15 and type = ora_dict_obj_type;
    16 end if;
    17 end;
    18 /
    Trigger created.
SQL> create or replace function f return number
    2 as
    3 begin
    4 return 0;
    5 end;
    6 /
    Function created.
    SQL> select * from old_code;

SQL> create or replace function f return date

  • Unable to edit WebDynpro source code after import from NWDI Track

    Hi !
I am facing an odd issue when trying to modify the source code in a web dynpro that is in a Track.
    This is what happens:
I create the project from Inactive DCs
I double click in the component controller (for example) and try to enter a line of code
A pop ups appears saying that in order to modify the file I have to check it out and to create an activity
The window to create a new activity appears, and I create the new activity
I am informed that the file to be edited will be included in the activity
--- Until now everything is normal ---
A try again to type something inside the source code.. and NOTHING happens, is as if my keyboard was broken.
After trying 1000 things I found a workaround that is:
Open the DTR perspective in NWDS, go to inactive -- <project>.. gen_wdp , ( and in gen_wdp right click, edit --> subfolder tree).
After doing that I am able to edit the source code... this is very strange! I mean, I never had this problem before..
    somebody has a hint ?
    Best regards!
    Marco.

    hi,
I am able to edit the code is one of the DCs in the same track and I am unable to do so in the other. The error that I see in a popup while trying to edit the code is :
The operation can only be performed if the following objects are writable:The project is not in the repository, but there are some read-only files
    Component Controller com.aramco.sao.had.hmd.dcsa.newagrcomp.NewAgrComp

Please suggest how to checkout files for edit.

  • How to track down duplicates record in BPC 5.1

    All,
We had a consultant who builds up a script which pulled all the data files from different sources and finally load in SAP BPC. We are seeing duplicates in our SAP BPC for excel reports. We looked at couple of tables  at SQL level and everything looks fine. We also look at the data files separately and all of them have unique values. Iu2019m fairly new to SAP BPC. Can you guys give some tips, so I can track down u201CDupsu201D and able to fix the bug !
Also let me know is it recommended to write VBA code to get rid of duplicates for one of the SAP BPC reports?
    Thanks,
    -Saquib

What exactly do you mean by duplicates? Two (or more) data records in the same intersection of members, across all dimensions in the application? These will be combined into one record when the database is optimized. And add'l records will be added, if you have input schedules where users modify data.
So you must be very careful about how you remove data from the database.
If you're seeing data in reports that is different from what's in the database, then it's more likely a bug in the report, not the data -- or else the cubes are not properly processed.
I wouldn't have any idea how VBA could help solve the problem, but I'm not really sure what is your problem. More commonly, SQL helps to identify where there are data integrity issues.
If you have a problem with the data in the cube not matching what's in your source files, it may be related to how data was initially imported, depending on the merge vs. clear option you selected during the imports. That's where I would start the investigation, if I understand your problem correctly.
The correct solution is probably to fix the import routine and re-load, rather than much around in the BPC tables until you think you got it right. Otherwise, next time you need to load data, you'll have the same problem.

  • Can anyone help - VIA VT6656 WLAN Controller - GPL source code package

I recently purchased a new netbook, and I would very much like to run Arch Linux on it. I downloaded the Chakra installer USB image, copied it to a SDHC card using dd, and then booted from it. Everything appeared to go swimmingly during the installation except for the Wireless LAN device, it was simply not detected.
Unfortunately this appears to be a very obscure device. There is nothing like it mentioned on the Arch Linux wiki. I tried several ways to try to discover what the chip was, and to find a Linux driver for it. It appears to be a VIA chip, reported by lshw as a "VNT USB 802.11 Wireless lan adapter". It appears to use the VIA VT6656 wireless chipset. This one:
    http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/netwo … ss/vt6656/
I tracked down a "bug" on Ubuntu forums about the chip that I think it is.
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/162671
This Ubuntu bug report includes a message that, very recently, VIA have released new GPL v2 license source code for a driver for this chip. There is talk about trying to get the driver included in the Linux kernel, and other musings about the possibility of making a dkms package for it.
The source code is Version - 1.19.12, released on 02 February 2009. The source code is a 4.4 MB zip file, so it is probably too big to attach to this post.
    Link to source code:
    http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?Pa … bCatID=176
So this post is a hopeful appeal for help. I do not personally have the skills required to compile this source for myself, and thereby make a working driver for Arch from it. Would there possibly be anyone interested enough to take this on?
I would be immensely grateful if so.

It's possible the 1.19.12 release needs a kernel older than our current 2.6.29 version.
Oh, and the Arch "automated package compiler script" is called makepkg, and it's the heart of the Arch Build System (ABS). Full details available in the wiki.

  • How to get source code for WinCE 6.0 USB Camera Driver for ARM4I Processor

    Hi,
I am implementing USB camera driver for my mini2440 board which has an ARM4I processor. The sample code
"Windows Embedded CE 6.0 USB camera Driver" downloaded from:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2ef087c0-a4ae-42cc-abd0-c466787c11f2
does not support ARM4I processors. When trying to generate in VS2005 Platform Builder my WinCE 6.0
image for mini2440 with the Third party catalog items "MJPEG Decompression Filter" and "USB CameraDriver",
the linker giver errors. Please advise where to find a working source code for USB (now revision 1.1
("full-speed") is supported in my WinCE 6.0 image) camera for my ARM4I processor. The code should
be in C# but C++ will be fine also.
    Thanks,

  • Old version Source code to .exe file conversion

I have a programming GUI source code (written in an older version of LabVIEW). Can it be supported by LABview Evaluation version 10.0.1 and be converted to an .exe file. How can I convert and use source code file for  programming? What do I need to convert and how?
I'm new to LABview. Please help!!

2010 can open VIs written in LabVIEW 6.0 or newer. Just double click on the top level VI. You will also need to install any hardware drivers (i.e. GPIB, DAQ, etc) that the old program used.
With the evaluation version, you can create an exe but it will have a watermark on the front panel.

  • LLVM Version / Alchemy Source Code

    Hi,
I wanted to get a better understanding of flash and decided to learn how the avm2 and alchemy works.  I would like to do some fun stuff with LLVM, including generating .swfs from other languages than c/c++. By trying so I noticed that Alchemy is based on LLVM 2.1 which is kinda old (released Sep 2007). Is there a way to use or port it to a newer LLVM version? It would make my experiment a lot easier and taking advantage of over three years development on LLVM would be great .
As far as I understand alchemy adds a new backend to LLVM arch=avm2 to generate avm actionscript code from LLVM IL code. Am I correct that this addition is not open source? Would be too bad, as I hoped to get an better understanding of the avm2 by looking into it. Also that would make it possible for us users of alchemy to port it ourself.
    Thank you for any hints,
    Florian

I think it's possible and I've been trying to do that for the last couple of days. I believe I've found out how the process works for compiling to iphone, using something similar to the alchemy toolchain. What I'd like to do is create an actioncript compiler with alchemy, so it basically is flash - flash, but taking advantage of all the optimizations that LLVM makes on bytecode, once you can understand it. I believe that adobe uses the following process:
    compile .as to ABC.
Pass ABC into the GlobalOptimizer that exists inside the actionscript compiler (ASC.jar).
It appears that GlobalOptimizer produces SSA IR code. I believe adobe slightly modifies this to be LLVM IR, and then they can just run llvm-as on the generated LLVM IR code.
I'm working on getting this functioning right now, because if I can get these stages done, then the existing alchemy toolchain should do the rest of the job (that is, taking that llvm bytecode and outputting actionscript bytecode using the existing back end). This would also explain why Adobe hasn't updated alchemy to work with a new version of LLVM, because the LLVM IR spec changes from release to release, so they'd have to keep changing the process of formatting their GlobalOptimizer output to be LLVM IR, which is probably more work than they want to invest right now.
In this list of processes, I'm on the last one. I'm currently figuring out how to convert the output from GlobalOptimizer to be valid LLVM IR but honestly, this is ALL new territory for me I need to find the specs on these things and do some reading. I had to customize the source code of the actionscript compiler to get this to work at all this far. The very fact that I had to do this also points to the fact that I'm on the right track, since posts I've seen from Adobe employees + documentation state that the actionscript compiler included in the alchemy toolkit is custom. Plus, this paper confirms many of these conclusions:
    http://llvm.org/devmtg/2009-10/Petersen_OptimizingActionScriptBytecode.pdf
I think you might be the only person interested in this stuff so for the sake of not clogging up the forums with our discussions feel free to contact me directly if you'd like more info.

  • Unwanted source code appears in browser but not in Dreamweaver Code Window

I am using templates and css, and Dreamweaver to build a new website of about 20 pages. With the first several pages, everything was working well. Then as I continued to add pages, I started to notice some code appearing at the bottom of web pages (under the footer), and then, a page duplicating the footer, and then, the drop-down function on the index page not working (pulls down and pops right back up) while headers on other pages work fine. I viewed the source code in the browsers (IE and Firefox) and I see the extra code at the bottom. However, this code doesn't show up in Dreamweaver, or, when I open the files in Notepad.
Following is an example of the different bottom-most lines of code in the Firefox browser compared to what I see in Dreamweaver or Notepad (note the highlighted line that is not showing up in Notepad or Dreamweaver).

this answer is a bit late, but i think i have figured this problem out and it is probably still bugging someone out there.
i was having the same issues through many dreamweaver upgrades and kept running into the same problem (only on my Mac though - PC never gave me trouble). anyway, my hard drive recently died and i had a brand new one installed and then i installed a fresh version of CS5. started building a page and ran into the same problem. now that this is happening on a new drive with a fresh OS and reinstalled software, i needed to look elsewhere.
the problem is so simple you will more than likely cry at the amount of time you have wasted on it. more than likely if this is happening to you, you are working off of a network drive or a server. all my files are stored on a server locally, so when i make a change it is saving to the server. either a bad or slow connection to the server and/or a server going bad will cause this issue.
take the same file that you are having problems with and save down to your desktop - then preview in a browser. so the solution is to build the entire site on your local drive and then FTP up to the live site when complete.
    hope this helps.

  • How to use Source Code Control for Large Application?

    Hi, All!
I would like to collect knowledge about "best practice" examples for using Source Code Control and project organization for relative large application (let's say approx 1000 SubVIs).
    Tools used:
    LabVIEW 8.0
    CVS Server
    PushOK CVS Proxy Client
    WinCVS
With LabVIEW 8 we can organize large project pretty well. This described in article Managing Large Applications with the LabVIEW Project.
I have read this article too: Using Source Control Software with LabVIEW In this Article Source Safe used, but with PushOK all looks nearby the same and works (some tricks for compare function are required).
Example. Two developers working together on same project. Internally project is modular, so one developer will work with module "Analysis", and another one with "Configuration" without interferences. These modules placed into Subfolders as shown in example above.
    Scenario 1:
Developer A started with modification of module "Analysis". Some files checked out. He would like to add some SubVIs here. So, he must also perform check out for the project file (*.lvproj), otherwise he cannot add anything into project structure.
Developer B at the same time would like to add some new functions into module "Configuration". He also needed to check out project file, but this file already checked out by Developer A (and locked). So, he must wait until lvproj file will be checked in. Another way is mark *.lvproj files as text files in PushOK, but then one of developers will get conflict message by checking in and then merging will be necessary. This situation will coming very often, because in most cases *.lvproj file will be checked out all the time.
Question: Which practice is better for such situation? Is Libraries better than folder for large project?
    Scenario 2:
Developer C joined to the team. First, he must get complete project code for starting (or may be at least code of one Library, which assigned to him).
Question: How it can be done within LabVIEW IDE? Or WinCVS (or other SCC UI) should be used for initial checkout?
    Scenario 3:
Developer D is responcible for Build. Developers A,B,C have added lot of files into modules "Analysis", Configuration" and "FileIO". For building he need to get complete code. If our project splitted into folders, he should get latest *.lvproj first, then newly added SubVIs will appear in Project Explorer, then he should expand tree, select all SubVIs and get latest versions for all. If Project organized in Libraries, he must do the same for each library, isn't?.
Question: Is this "normal way", or WinCVS should be used for this way? In WinCVS its possible with two mouseclicks, but I prefer to get all code from CVS within LabVIEW IDE recursively...
That was a long post... So, if you already working with LabVIEW 8 with SCC used for large project, please post your knowledge here about project structure (Folders or Libraries) and best practices, its may be helpful and useful for all of us. Any examples/use cases/links etc are appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Andrey

    Regarding your scenarios:
    1. Using your example, let's say both developers checked out version 3
of the project file. Assuming that there are only files under the
directories in the example project, when Developer A checks in his
version of the project, there will be new files in one section of the
project separate from where Developer B is working. Developer B,
notices that there is now a version 4 of the project. He needs to
resolve the changes so will need to merge his changes to the latest
version of project file. Since the project file is a text file, that is
easy to do. Where an issue arrises is that after Developer B checks in
his merged changes, there is a revision 5. When Developer A and B go to
make another change, they get the latest version which will have the
merged changes to the project file but not the referenced files from
both Developer A and B. So when A opens version 5, he sees that he is
missing the files that B checked in and visa versa. Here is where the
developers will needs to manually use the source control client and,
external to LabVIEW, get those new files.
Where libraries help with the above scenario is that the library is a
separate file from the project so changes made to it outside of the
project do not require the project to be modified. So this time, the
developers are using a single project again which time time references
two libraries. The developers check out the libraries, make changes to
the libraries, and then check those changes in. So when each developer
opens the project file, since it references the project file, the
changes to the library will be reflected. There is still the issue of
the new files not automatically coming down when the latest version of
the library is obtained. Again, the developers will needs to manually
use the source control client and, external to LabVIEW, get those new
files. In general, you should take advantage of the the modularity that
    libraries provide.
    2. As noted in the above scenario, there is no intrinsic mechanism to
get all files referenced by a LabVIEW project. Files that are missing
will be noted. The developer will then have to use the source control
provider's IDE to get the initial contents of the project  (or library).
    3. See above scenarios.

  • How to release top-level VI (only) source code?

    Hello,
I am developing an addon to an application I already have. The application is large (over 1,500 VI's) and the VIs are set up to compile with mostly default settings (there's a top-level VI, a few with Front Panel visible, most of them are not visible).
The customer wants the source code to the work I'm going to do, and it's going to use many existing sub-VI's. The addon itself will be a sub-VI (I have a Main.vi that basically opens 'screens', and this is a new screen). The existing sub-VI's basically do the data collection and processing, and the new code will do some additional processing and have a nice GUI to the existing code. The customer wants the source so they can make modifications as needed.
Is there any easy way to provide just the source for the top-level VI? Basically, I want to give them M.vi, where M.vi calls n.vi, o.vi... etc, but o-z.vi need to remain closed-source. Also, M.vi is called by Main.vi, which opens screens A-M.vi
One option is do copy the entire application, then open every sub-VI and save it without Source Code. But with so many files, this seems like a bad idea. I also then have to maintain two applications.
Any good ideas out there? It seems so easy in other languages (use object files) that it seems like there should be a solution here I'm not seeing.... Thanks!

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Dont know if this is the best solution for you, but you can create a "virtual folder" in the LabVIEW project with all the sub-VIs that you want to keep closed-source. Then create Source Distribution build specifications in the project and remove the block diagrams assign passwords to all VIs in the virtual folder. See attached pics.
