Tracking down the version number
I have a C/C++ program which is a Firefox plugin. I'm trying to find the version number resource.
In my plist I have: Bundle versions string, short set to 5.09b and bundle version to 1.0
In my .rsrc file (yes, I'm still using rsrc files, it's not my fault.) my vers resource has a short string of 4.70
When I compile, the version on the .app file is 5.09b
When I run the program, I do:
CFBundleRef myAppsBundle = CFBundleGetMainBundle();
bundleVersion = (CFStringRef) CFBundleGetValueForInfoDictionaryKey(myAppsBundle, CFSTR("CFBundleShortVersionString"));
CFStringGetCString(bundleVersion, verString, sizeof(verString), kCFStringEncodingMacRoman);
printf("bundleversion is %s
", verString);
and it gives me 3.5.6. previously, it was giving me 3.5.5.
I've done a bunch of searches through my code, and can't find "3.5.5" anywhere. And the code above works in other projects.
Yes I have.
However, someone else just pointed out that 3.5.5 and 3.5.6 are the most recent versions of FIREFOX! so, I'm getting the info from firefox's bundle, not my own.
How to get access to my own bundle is probably a topic for another question...

My computer was stolen, how can I track down a serial number?
Hi All-
I'm in need of some assistance. My Mac was stolen during an apartment burglary. It was a gift from a family member who doesn't have any type of receipt. I apparently didn't register my Mac either, my iPad and iPod yes, my stolen laptop of course not. My insurance company is requesting the serial number or some sort of proof of ownership. Any ideas how I can track down the serial number?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thank you!Have the family member who made the gift contact the place of purchase if possible. Most business records of computer sales have info like serial numbers

my macbook pro is crashing any clues on how to track down the problem?
I'm running OS X 10.9.5 on a Late 2008 Macbook Pro... 8GB of memory... I've swapped the original drive for an SSD.
here is a problem report on one of the crashes... they always look just like this:

Which file in Omni.ja contains the version number in HELP | ABOUT
We are using Firefox in a corporate locked down environment.
we have made a number of changes to files in the OMNI.JA file to configure Firefox accordingly.
We now have a newer version of firefox to install/package however, when we replace the default omni.ja file in FF 10.0.10 and go into HELP | ABOUT it shows the version number of FF that the omni.ja file came from, ie 10.0.4.
Which file(s) need to be replaced in omni.ja so that when we select HELP | ABOUT it shows the correct version of 10.0.10 ?
regards
Billhello biffal, which changes to the omnia.ja file have you done originally? maybe there's a better way to do it, because this file will be overwritten by each & every firefox update...

Patch Set Updates and the version number
Oracle document 854428.1, Patch Set Updates (PSUs) for Oracle Products, has this to say about the version number:
2.3 Baseline Version for Easier Tracking
Oracle associates a version number to the patch. The fifth number of the database version is incremented for each PSU. For example, the initial PSU is version 11.1.0.7.1, the second PSU for Release 11.1.0.7 is 11.1.0.7.2, and so on.
My DBAs just told me that they applied PSU3 to our database, which had version number 11.2.0.2.0. I checked the version number after the PSU was applied, but it is still the same:
SQL> select version from v$instance;
VERSION
11.2.0.2.0
Do the PSUs change the fifth number in the version or not?SQL> select comments from sys.registry$history where action_time > sysdate - 1
COMMENTS
PSU 11.2.0.2.3
Thankyou, that answers my question. The fifth number in the version column of the v$instance view does not seem to change when a PSU is applied. However, the sys.registry$history view has a record of the PSU with the correct fifth number in the version. -
Hi
I accidentally removed one of our domain controller's hyper-v image (DC-02) from the hyper-v manager and to bring it back online launched a new virtual machine using the same virtual hard drive. This brought back the domain controller machine and I set the
original IP address to the same assuming that everything would just working fine.
Sadly, that wasn't the case as when I tried to open the group policy manager on that machine I started getting "Access is denied" error. I was then presented with an option to open the group policy manager with the first available DC which I did
and was able to open it with showing the same machine as the baseline domain controller under the status tab (DC-01 is actually the baseline DC). I then clicked Detect now and noticed it was showing 1 DC under replication in progress with problems in GPO version.
I then did the same thing on the primary DC (DC-01) and even there it was showing this only (images attached).
So I started exploring over the internet going through various articles but couldn't find a solution which I could apply without worrying about corrupting something somewhere. I also went to the SYSVOL folder on both the DC's to check the version number
in GPT.ini files which are mentioned below:
\\CC-DC01\sysvol\cloudchowk.lab\Policies\{6AC1786C-016F-11D2-945F-00C04fB984F9}
[General]
Version=3

Version=5308439
Could anyone please help me sort this out? I am no system admin and whatever knowledge I have of setting up DC, AD etc is from following one article or the other over the internet.

Sajat JainHi
Apologies for responding late. I followed through all the points mentioned by Frank and even did a non-authoritative restore synchronization but still no luck.
I am attaching the output from the dcdiag /q and the from the event viewer after doing to non-authoritative restore synchronization.

EVENT VIEWER LOGS
The DFS Replication service initialized SYSVOL at local path C:\Windows\SYSVOL\domain and is waiting to perform initial replication. The replicated folder will remain in the initial synchronization state until it has replicated with its partner CC-DC01.cloudchowk.lab. If the server was in the process of being promoted to a domain controller, the domain controller will not advertize and function as a domain controller until this issue is resolved. This can occur if the specified partner is also in the initial synchronization state, or if sharing violations are encountered on this server or the synchronization partner. If this event occurred during the migration of SYSVOL from File Replication service (FRS) to DFS Replication, changes will not replicate out until this issue is resolved. This can cause the SYSVOL folder on this server to become out of sync with other domain controllers.

and my ssis server also in 2012.
but i am getting error:
"the version number in package is not valid, the version number cannot be greater than current verison number"
and one more thing how to see ifmy package is in 2012,by looking it in notepad?Hi coool_sweet,
Based on the error message that "The version number in the package is not valid. The version number cannot be greater than current version number.", we can infer that the underlying cause may be that the current SSIS package is created in SQL Server
2012, while you are trying to open or execute it in SQL Server 2008R2 or earlier versions.
As to your scenario, I guess you are using old version of the DTEXEC instead of the new one to run the package. That means, the exe shipped with 2008R2 or earlier versions is picked up when it is expected to use the one shipped with 2012. So, obviously this
happens when SQL Server 2012 is running along with SQL Serve r2008R2 or earlier versions on the same machine.
To fix this issue, there are three workarounds to correct this.
Hard code the path of SQL Server 2012's DTEXEC while calling the SSIS package as shown below.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn\DTEXEC.exe /F "D:\MyFolder\MyPackage.dtsx"
Rename the old exe in the 2008R2 path to a different name (Example:- C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\Binn\DTEXEC_Old.exe)
Go to PATH environmental variable and edit it in such a way that "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn" path appears well before the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\Binn" path.
Thanks,
Katherine Xiong

can iPhone be tracked by the serial number instead of apple id?
It cannot be tracked by either. It is tracked via Find My iPhone, so long as that was activated before the device came up missing. It has to be powered on and connected to the Internet as well.

Tracking down the user who updates a PDP (Project Detail Page)
Hi guys,
I have a custom field called Project Status that is used in some PDP in Project Server. When users update this field, we need to know who did the update. Is there a way to track down the user who populated some info on this field? Does Project Server do
an audit of some sort on these kinds of things?
Thanks.

KwaziHi Mike,

police station? many thanksYou could contact the baggage department at Heathrow, as someone may have reported it missing, or turn it in to the local police. Usually, if no one claims it after a period of time, it will be yours.
Thanks for your honesty.

Good morning,
We've been experiencing some odd behavior with discovery. After Active Directory System Discovery, some computers have Operating_System_Name_and0 as only the version number; for example, " 6.1" (note the space before the 6) vs.
"Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 6.1" (although, not limited to Windows 7 workstations).
Here are two seemingly identical machine records in Active Directory WCBWIN7VDI10 and WCBWIN7VDI11.
After discovery
select Name0, Operating_System_Name_and0 from v_r_system where Name0 LIKE 'WCBWIN7VDI1[0,1]'
yields
Name0 Operating_System_Name_and0
WCBWIN7VDI10 6.1
WCBWIN7VDI11 Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 6.1
For discovery on a new domain yesterday we have the following distribution:
select count (*) as [count], convert (nvarchar, Creation_Date0, 110) as [creation date], Operating_System_Name_and0
from v_r_system where Full_Domain_Name0 like 'aaa.bbb.ccc'
group by Operating_System_Name_and0, convert (nvarchar, Creation_Date0, 110)
order by Operating_System_Name_and0
count
creation date
Operating_System_Name_and0

Terence DurningHi Terence,
What is the value in Active Directory for the computer account?
Do you have the same behavior if you run this query?
SELECT DISTINCT Operating_System_Name_and0 FROM v_R_System ORDER BY 1
You are talking about a space before 6.1. Do I see also a space for all Microsoft Windows like "Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 6.3" ?
