  • Only the Admin can view the data in the Discoverer Reports

    Hello,
    Discoverer Version Info:
    OracleBI Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.3)
Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.55.26)
    Discoverer Model - 10.1.2.55.26
    Discoverer Server - 10.1.2.55.26
    End User Layer - 5.1.1.0.0.0
End User Layer Library - 10.1.2.55.26
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production
Everything was working fine until we applied some database patches.
Users cannot see any data in the discoverer reports. Only the Admin can see data. Even the LOVs do not populate any values for the regular users.
Can someone please advise as to what is happening?
    Thanks.
    Thanks.

    Hi Akshaj,
It would certainly be hard for me to replicate (I am on 10g), but perhaps you could identify the patches that were applied and this would help people discern the problem.
I would narrow down this problem to one business area. Next, identify what users or responsibilities have been granted access using the Discoverer admin tool. Has anything changed?
Confirm which users have been granted access. Has this changed because of the patch?
I would look at the session sql to see if there is some change after the patch (something like this):
    select
    from
    v$sql
    where
    parsing_schema_name = 'APPS'
    and module in ('Disco10, DISCOADMIN:Discoverer_login_responsibility','dis51ws@apps_server_url (TNS V1-V3)')
    order by first_load_time desc;
Hopefully you have a test or development environment which has not received this patch and you can juxtapose the authentication behavior.

  • How to migrate the discoverer reports using the PPM tool

    Hi,
Did Any One Migrate the Discoverer Reports Using The PPM (Kintana Tool) From One Oracle Instance To The Other?
Please Help Me If Any One Knows?
    Thanks,
    Ankit

    Hi User,
    Create a new shared folder.
Provide access to all the users.
Now, ask the user who created the report in 'My Folders' to save the report in this new shared folder.
And, Delete those reports in 'My Folders'.
Now, as the report is saved in New shared folder you can access - this one.
Else--- Ask the user who created the report in my folder to make sure that it is available to all users. (Permissions - Permission should need to be provided for Administrator group)
    Thank you.

  • Track in historical reporting when a user press a option

I am trying to figure how to track and what report to pull that will show me say how many times a when the script is called that a say option 1 was pushed and they were transfered out either to a queue or to another phone number? I have some users requesting this data.
    Thank you!

    Hi David
The cheap and cheerful way is to do this:
    1) In your script, when a user selects an option, use a 'Set Enterprise Data' step to set either one of custom variable 1-10, caller entered digits, or account number (entered digits or a custom var would make most sense) to a value that indicates the choice that was made. For example, write the string 'Option 1' if one is pressed, or 'Technical Support' if 2 is pressed and the option is 'technical support'
    2) Run the Historical Reports Client and generate a 'Call Custom Variables' report. That can then be exported to Excel and filtered or pivot-tabled to find the counts of each option.

  • Regarding Issue when Exporting the Output of the Discoverer Report to Excel

    Hi,
Can Any of you guys help me out in this issue. I am exporting the Discoverer Report Output to Excel sheet, I am able to export but while I am opening the excel sheet I am getting an error saying "UNABLE TO READ FILE".
Please help me out in this Issue, it is so urgent.
    Thanks in Advance..
    Raja.

    Hi,
Is there any way to export the output of scheduled Discoverer Reports to a particular server using Discoverer plus.Only by openning and exporting each report manually.
is there any way to get the output name in a particular syntax. I want to concatenate date in the output name.Only by entering the filename when you do the export.
The best way to do this is to use Discoverer Desktop and a third party scheduler. Then you can export all your reports automatically and define the filename used in the output. Search this forum for more information on third party schedulers.

  • Reg: Simulate the system i/0 and user i/o

    Hi all,
Currently am in the process of testing the database perfomance. As per , want to simulate the system i/o and user i/o upto 30ms.
Please let me know the ways. your early will be highly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Regards
    Krishnan

    Hi,
system and User i/o are not different.
But single block read ('sequential read') and multiblock read ('scattered read') are different (difference is the size of i/o)
On unix, you can use dd (blocksize is your oracle blocksize for single block reads)

    Franck.

  • Error while running the Discoverer report from the command line.

    Hi All,
I've to run a discoverer report from command line and export the results in xls/html on to my local machine. This report I've to run it as batch and scheduled it.
I have a parameterized worksheet and this has to be run from command line specifying the parameter value I wanted to run the report for. I do not get any results. Here is the command line I am using.
    dis51usr /connect user/password@database /opendb "TIMS-PCJ status Report" /sheet "TIMS observation status report (based on performed date)" /parameter "Test Number" '40351' /parameter "From Date" '05-MAY-2008' /parameter "To Date" '06-MAY-2008' /export HTML "C:\DISCOVERER_REPORT_SCHEDULING\DIS_OUTPUT\PCJStOutputinHTML123"
I even added the TO_DATE conversion for the parameters and also gave the format of the date as 'DD_MON_YYYY'.
Discoverer Desktop opened up, logged in and gets terminated saying 'Oracle Discoverer Desktop has encountered a problem and need to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'
    Please anyone reply me.
    Regards & Thanks,
    P. Gayathri Devi

    Hi Gayathri,
Try changing your parameter names to be a single word. (Change "Test Number" to Test_Number).
Does the report run fine when run through Desktop for the same parameter values? Which version of Discoverer are you using?
    Thanks.

  • Discoverer Report Ownership and Exports

We are currently upgrading to R12 from 11.5.10 and I’m looking to migrate discoverer with it. The environment and set up of disco has been completed however there are a few issues around migrating the existing reports and EUL I’m not sure about. I would appreciate some views / advice on the following:
    1) We have reports owned by a lot of people across the organisation, many of these I cant see as the discoverer admin user (but can from the DB tables), meaning I cant migrate them as .eex without getting the owner to share the reports out to out disco admin user.
    2) For the ones I can see if I import them I get a message in the log that I cant modify a report I don’t own, whilst taking ownership by saving the report is an option, the report must then be visible to the original owner in the new environment so requires sharing with them (but done for 700+ reports)
    3) I need to migrate associated EUL objects with the reports however without going through each report manually I cant see which reports are dependant on which EUL object (I assume this is available in the DB somewhere but I’m new to this so I’m still looking)
The method of exporting as .eex files and importing into the new environment doesn’t appear to be cutting it for this task. I have read there are ways to export or clone the EUL and reports as a whole however we don’t want to take everything across only a selection of reports from the old environment.
There must be a better way of migrating the required reports and associated EUL objects and resolving ownership and sharing?
    any help would be appreciated

Thanks for the replies – they are very helpful
I have been looking at the Java Command line interface and attempting to share out workbooks to my user on our DEV environment with some small success
    I tried the following:
    -connect EUL_US/EUL_US@DB –grant_privilage –workbook_access “WORK_BOOK_1” –roll “SOLHILL”
This gave me the following message:
“A Subdirectory or file . already exsits.”
    “Command Complete”
But didn’t appear to actually do anything, the workbook remains unshared
I played with the command and used the following:
    -connect DISCO_ADMIN_USER /pswrd@DB –apps_user –apps_responsibility “Discoverer_admin” –grant_privilage –
    workbook_access “WORK_BOOK_1” –roll “SOLHILL”
    This gave the following message
“A Subdirectory or file . already exsits.”
    “afenv: can’t open registry key”
    “afenv: can’t open registry key”
    “afenv: can’t open registry key”
    “afenv: can’t open registry key”
    …….(17 times)
    “Command Complete”
But did update the workbook and gave it the apps responsibility “Discover_admin” (not to the SOLHILL)
    So -
    1) In the Oracle Documentation it says the EUL_US (eul owner) needs some permissions granted such as “CREATE_TABLE” “CREATE_PROCEDURE” etc… is it possible that this is stopping the EUL_US login from updating the tables? if not any ideas why the command sucseeds but nothing happens?
    2) what’s incorrect about the second command line script that it doesn’t do as I intend?
    Thanks for your support
    Sol

  • Which table keeps the Discoverer Report list?

    Hi,
I'm new to Discoverer, actually I haven't started to use yet.
I would like to know is it possible to retrieve a list of reports created in Discoverer so that I can add them to the standard reports that I developed using Oracle Report builder in my application. If possible, which table can I get the report list?
My second question, is it possible to run a Discoverer report directly if I have the report link? Or everytime I run I must enter the schema username and password?
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

    Hi
With regards to question 1, I don't believe this is possible any more. The older versions were rather flexible in that approach but sadly, no more.
With regards to question 2, using a VPD you can authenticate to your heart's content using any custom defined table you wish. This is just an out of the box idea, and I don't know whether it will work, but here goes.
The table that stores public connections is this one: orasso.wwsso_psex_user_info$
I am wondering what would happen if we put a restriction on SELECT from that table to not allow selection if the SSO user was not of a certain class or did not have a certain privilege.
Would anyone else care to comment here?
By the way, inside SQL, this code SYS_CONTEXT('USERENV', 'CLIENT_IDENTIFIER') will return the SSO user.
For more info on public connections, look here: http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/html/B13918_03/conns.htm#i1016752
    Best wishes

We have implemented the FPN using RRA.
This error comes only for few users when they navigate in Portal. After clearing the cache, it works for all. Kindly help us to resolve this issue.

  • Limit the number of session per user in the Wired dot1x environment with ISE 1.2

    Hello,
I need to check if there is any configuration/workaround to limit the number of sessions/access per user in the Wired dot1x configuration.
I need to check if this feature is available or not to solve the following scenario:
I have 2 SW ports configured to use dot1x authentication with ISE 1.2 server.
If user A connects to the 1st port and authenticated then he will placed on a VLAN based on the authorization profile.
The case, that I need to deny the same user to connect on a different machine with the same credentials.
The ISE itself does not have this feature currently,  the only feature available is to limit the number of sessions for the guest user.
Is there any workaround on the Cisco switches to solve this? Cisco WLC has this feature and for the VPN we can limit the number of sessions also from the ASA itself.
    Thanks.

limit number of session per user using wired dot1x is not available in 1.3

  • Killing User sessions and user calcs

    Hi all,
We have a situation where users run their business rules during evening and at times in night.
We also have a maxl script which does aggregation and other calcs daily in night and it does not run as other calcs are launched by users.
Is it possible to kill the user session and calcs launched by users before running maxl calculation for consolidations?
I know I can do in in EAS, but want to try to do it in MAxL for automation.
    Thanks in advance

You would be better off locking people out. After you kick off the automated calc, killing sessions doesn't stop them from initiating calcs while your automated calc is running. In answer to your question, yes, you can do that in maxl.
    alter system kill request all;
You have other options if you want to be more selective on what you kill.
    kill request <session-id>
    kill request by user
    kill request on application
    kill request on database
Check out the technical documentation for more info - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_tech_ref/launch.html.
