Traitement par lot / Batch processing ?

English text after the French text
Bonjour,
Hello,
did everyone know the “batch processing” of
photoshop? it is a way of applying a script (a whole of
modification, transformation, optimization… on an image) to
the esemble of the images contained in a file! Very practical!
And well I wanted to know if it is possible, in Flash 8 Pro,
to make the same thing?
Example:
I have 300 pages in pdf (a catalogue including/understanding
texts, graphs and images), a pdf by page, and I will like to
transform them into SWF!
I tested with swftools which functions perfectly but which
makes me files one can heavy, whereas when I pass by Flash 8 Pro my
swf is lighter! moreover I can “clean it”!
Thus if I could treat my 300 pdf via flash with a script
(centering, cleaning, parameter setting,…) and a “batch
processing” it will be the foot!
How Flash is at Adobe, can be one T it to bring this quite
practical functionality! not? can be in a forthcoming update? a
addon? a component?
I thank you by advance for your answer.

  • Please Help, Issues when batch processing Multi Frame images in Fireworks

    I hope someone will know how to do this and tell me where I am going wrong.
    Objective 1
    I have a large number of images that all have the exact same number of frames (4) and are all exactly the same size that I want to get resized, cropped and water marked (when I say 'watermarked I mean have my websites logo pasted in a specificlocation on each frame, I have my websites logo as a seperate .png file which I copy from).
    Current Process
    I create a command which will crop the image then paste my companys url/log onto the first frame, move it to the correct location on the frame then copy it again and then paste it onto each of the other frames, the command then resizes the image tot he exact proportions I want.
    I start a batch process and use my command, making sure that I also export from the .png to animated gif (and I edit the settings to make it 256 animated gif).
    Error 1
    The process described above resizes and crops my images however it does NOT put the watermark in the correct place, it seems to put it int he right place on the first frame and then in a different place on all the followingn frames thus giving the effect of the watermark jumping around. Which is obviously NOT what I want.
    Question 1
    Please let me know what process I should be following to correct the Error 1 above.
    Objective & Question 2
    I want to do exactly the same thing as shown above but this time the files have a varying number of frames (from 2 to 45 frames (or instances as CS4 seems to call them)). Is there a way to paste my logo to the to the exact same location on ALL frames?
    Other information
    I have tried WHXY Paste extension and I can not see how to use that to solve the issue. I have also tried 'Paste in Place' however I can not see how to use the Paste In Place extension as it is not appering in my list of commands.
    Many thanks in advance for your help.
    Andy

    Andy, you could start a batch process which will do most of the things you are asking for. THe batch process can be done using Fireworks. The right way to start is going to Archivo / Procesar por Lotes and then follow all the different option this tool has to offer.  Yes, I know I gave you the names in Spanish but that is the way I use Adobe Fireworks.
    I hope this was usefull for you!

  • Why do I need to use GIMP to batch process?

    Dear Adobe,
    I'm grinding through thousands of display and template images for an online retailer. Photoshop layering and masks came in quite handy when I was making the templates
    but now that it's got down to reusing those templates, I have to look elsewhere.
    1 Why does every other piece of software on the market have a batch processing section, and yet you hide yours?
    2. Why does Image Processor refuse to resize both horizontal and vertical, although it claims to? It actually refuses to distort the image to resize, which I actually want it to do. I had
    to download GIMP to get this capability, as well as to specify the output file and change the dpi. These are all included in GIMP but not Pshop. Thanks for that. And don't tell
    me to go to Actions. THat may be useful for something things, but it's hardly the optimal way to do it, recording your exact actions, and then saving or not saving, and then
    seeing what happens. The way I wanted it was in GIMP, and its pathetic that 20 years in, Pshop still doesnt have a credible batch processor, or tell me where it is now.
    Charge extra for that perhaps?
    3.What has changed in Bridge CS6 since CS4? I see absolutely nothing different, but then output is still limited to PDF and 'WEB GALLERY' a dysfunctional glob
    of code bested easily by jquery, but maybe you've impoved that end. My last experience with web gallery was so dysfunctional that I'll just stick to fixing what's
    under the hood myself. I mean web gallery used to be flash, then something else that's not current. Let's just agree its a hobbyist option. Of course,
    I don't know why 'output' might include other options for the batch processing of files, since batch rename does actually work, but you guys are the deciders.
    4. Its too bad. This job has taught me a lot of new stuff about layering, masks, and the functionality of the pattern section, which I have no great qualms with, though,
    considering how many companies you've bought, you could include tons of patterning capabilities that used to exist in these programs, but that would be too much
    expenditure from MGMT. Maybe let's just fix the window views we broke in CS4, and call it a new version.
    5. Thanks for forcing me to discover GIMP, who dont ask a thing. I dont really like being in there yet, but we'll see if that changes with time. They actually have some
    different filters and rendering options that Adobe could've included years ago for gun, but again, there's just not enough money to go around at Adobe.

    Antinet wrote:
    Thanks for both of you proving both that the function doesnt exist.
    When the Image Processor resizes image it used the Photoshop Plug-in Fit Image to do the resize.  Both height and width are resized and the image aspect ratio is preserved so the image is not distorted.  That means the image will fit within the height and width  used in the dialog.  Only image with the same aspect ratio will fill the area.  It sounds to me like you want the image the size id the height and width you entered in the dialog.  In which case you need to use Photoshop features the can accomplish that.  If you do not care the the image is distorted you use Image size check resample uncheck constrain as set the height and width you want to resize to.  If you do not want to much distortion you can try content aware resize. That will still distort the image some what but try to maintain some areas perspective it finds object in.  You can also help that process by selecting areas.  If You want no distortion you need to resize the image to fill the area and mask off  the excess to virtually crop the image the the areas aspect ratio. To automate that you need to use some Photoshop scripting. Knowledge is required to get the most out of Programs like Gimp and Photoshop.  The function doesn't exist because of your lack of knowledge.

  • Is it possible to add or change OCR text in a batch process?

    Hello,
    This is my first submission.  Really hope you can help as if there's a solution to this it will significantly help our business.
    Is it possible to 'batch process' the adding or changing of OCR text in a PDF?
    This might sound like a strange process but let me explain what we do:
    1. We scan old, handwritten books and registers.  Typically these registers contain lists of information. Each page will be scanned to a filename like pge01.jpg, pge02.jpg, pge03.jpg etc.
    2. We transcribe the content of each page.  Each page will contain mulitple records (i.e. 20 records)  typical fields might be:
    Unique ID
    Surname
    Forename
    Year
    Address
    Filename (i.e. pge02.jpg)
    3. We provide this content back within database driven software so that when a user performs a search on say 'Surname=Jones' & 'Year=1945' then all of the scanned pages that match that contains handwritten text that matches that search criteria is displayed in a list.  The user can then click on a search result and see the scanned page containing that record.
    Rather than provide database driven software, we'd simply like to produce a standard PDF file.  Each page within the PDF will show each of the scanned pages (pge01.jpg, pge02.jpg, pge03.jpg etc.).  But where you would normally store the 'ocr recognised text' behind each image, we would like to show our transcribed content.
    If this is possible, then I realise that it's likely that you can't do field searches (i.e. 'Surname=Jones' & 'Year=1945') but at the very least I'd be able to type 'Jones' in to the search box and it would find all pages that contained the transcribed word 'jones'.
    If it's possible to add the transcribed data as 'ocrd text' then is it possible to do it in some sort of batch process?  We scan lots of big books and capture millions of records - so doing it manually is not an option.
    Any help that anyone can provide will be hugely appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Paul

    I don't think it's possible to manually add OCRd text, but you can add form
    fields with the text in them. And yes, it is possible to search the content
    of form fields, using a script.

  • Acrobat Pro X batch processing different in Win 7

    Greetings,
    My company just completed moving everyone from Win XP to Win 7 (yes, I know, but better late than never). I regularily use Acrobat Pro X to batch process and password protect large numbers of a variety of documents (Word, Publisher, Excel and PowerPoint 2-up printouts.)
    Under Windows XP the process was pretty straight forward:
    1) Open Acrobat Pro
    2) Secect "Batch Process" File -> Create -> Batch Create Multiple files... (a window appears).
    3) Drag a large group of documents into the window (you can drag over 50 docs, it doesn't matter), then begin the process (which automatically walks through all the documents and PDFs them.)
    4) When the process is complete, open up the Action Wizard File -> Action Wizard -> Select the appropriate action
    5) A window appears, drag the PDFs into the window and go. All PDS quickly get the security applied.
    Done
    With Windows 7 the functionality is different (I really don't know if it is the operating system change or some type of policy change that I am unaware of). The process is far slower because I literally have to PDF and Apply Security to each document one at a time. The process goes like this:
    Under Windows 7:
    1) Select a group of documents, but NO MORE THAN 15.
    2) Drag the documents over the "Acrobat Pro X" icon and launch them this way. Each document created a "temporary PDF". Multiple windows open up, stacked on top of each other.
    3) Go to each window individually and first save the file (that way the file name is preserved), then go to the Action Wizard and apply the security. Then close the PDF.
    4) Repeat this process for each open window (document).
    5) Repeat as necessary until you have the several hundred documents processed.
    Literally this is a "hands-on" process for each document. Is there a better way? Am I missing something in the Acrobat or Windows 7 settings?
    If I try to batch process the old way under Windows 7 I get a series of error messages for each document. (I can't even get to the action wizard process.)
    Any suggestions?
    Is there a third party app that will work without having to administer it so much?
    Thank you,
    TPK

    Hi Test Screen Name,
    While reproducing the problem I realized I was in error as to how far in the sequence the problem occured. I actually do get as far as batch creating PDF,. The only difference there is that I can no longer "drag and drop" files in the batch create window. I have to use the "Add files..." command in the upper left of the batch create window.
    So, the application batch creates the files. Afterward, I use the Action Wizard to batch "Password Protect" the files. It is during this command run that the error occures. (Note: I am trying to save over the old files by having them save to the same directory under the same name, just like I used to be able to do.) The error I get is:
    Action Completed.
    Saved to: \\HOME\path-to-original-files\
    Warning/Errors
    The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document in a different
    Document: Name of document1.pdf
    Output: Name of document1.pdf
    The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document in a different
    Document: Name of document2.pdf
    Output: Name of document2.pdf
    The error message loops through all the documents. I don't have the documents open or in use. By default they shouldn't be "read-only". This all did not occure when I previously used the application with Windows XP.
    I have not yet tried saving them to a different directory. I will try that later today. (I didn't want to have a lot of versions of the same documents, it tends to be confusing.)
    Thank you for your reply,
    TPK

  • Acrobat 9 Batch Processing - Get PDF filenames from folder?

    Hello,
    Can anyone provide me with an example with how to use Batch Processing (when set to a specific folder/files) to get a list of filenames in that folder? I haven't been able to find any examples online. There doesn't seem to be any built in batch sequences that automatically do this so I assume it will need to be done with javascript?
    Ultimately, I need to automate a process (I was hoping to create a batch sequence to accomplish this) that will allow me to prompt a user to pick a source folder of PDFs and then based on that selection, run a Javascript that I create which will merge all PDFs in that folder into a new PDF, apply some crop setttings to each page, and then prompt the user where to save the merged PDF?
    Has anyone ever done anything like this? I would love to see an example of how this might be able to be achieved.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Have you tried to create a test batch process (now called Actions)?  Actions in Acrobat 10 has the "merge all files in folder" option, and batch processing in previous versions has always included a page crop commad as well as an option for asking the user where to save the file.

  • Reducing file size in batch processes (multiple files)

    I am now using a canon XTi 10.5 megapixel camera. I'm loving it, taking tons and pics, and see my memory on my computer shrinking rapidly. I'm not too worried about hard drive space as I can simply buy another hard drive. Where I'm running into problems is on my iPod. I have an 80gb video iPod. It is suddenly full, Almost 1/2 with audio, 1/2 with photos. I'm realizing that I need take the 5-7 megabyte files each (photos) in iPhoto and reduce them down a bit in dimensions and/or jpeg compression.
    I use photoshop elements and am familiar with the multiple files option. I've used that a bit, nice feature.
    Heres my question:
    I know iPhoto is sensitive to manipulation of photos/changes if the changes aren't done through its interface. How can I go about taking the original pics for a number of events (talking about perhaps 2000 pics right now) and batch process them down in size a bit without weirding out iPhoto?
    Does iPhoto have an option to batch change files in such a fashion? Is it as simple as finding the originals in the finder and simpy reducing them in size and making iPhoto update its thumbnails?
    and how do I make iPhoto update its thumbnails, I forget...
    Thanks

    If you just want displayable image files on the iPod and not the full sized files then a very good solution, IMO, is to export those photos you want on the iPod to a folder on the Desktop. Then use Resize! to batch change the pixel dimension and the jpg compression level of the files. For my iPod Nano I use 640 x 480 and have Resize! compress them to medium. That gives me files in the 100 KB size range. If you want a smaller file just increase the compressions level a bit. Resize! automatically creates a new folder for the resized images so you can try different levels on the same folder. You can get a lot of photos on your iPod at that size. I then put that folder of resized files in my Pictures folder and have iTunes use it instead of using iPhoto.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Batch Processing

    Dear all
    please can anyone provide feedback to my queries? I have been in a rather heated meeting today with a design authority who made various suggestions towards the way a pl/sql program should be operating - and how Oracle should be used in general.
    For background, I am a pl/sql developer. The programs in question receive a text file from a client in an un-ordered form. The data from the file is loaded into Oracle, validation and text manipulation is then performed and then the data is output from Oracle in a text file, obviously in a different format to that received. For a given instance of this program we are processing around 6 million rows of data.
    The design authority has stated that Oracle is not the best tool to use to receive a text file and then output another text file, as UTL_FILE is not as good as certain UNIX tools such as awk. He forgot about the text manipulation part, and re-ordering the data into a different format - but does anyone have any other pro's and con's for this statement?
    He also stated that for BATCH processing it is best not to use the indexes on any database tables, and best in part to allow Oracle to do full table scans. He said that Nested Loops are a 'no no' and hash joins should be used wherever possible. Again can anyone provide any advantages / disadvantages to this, as the pl/sql program does have nested loops, but the cost of each sql statement is low when run through EXPLAIN PLAN.
    Many thanks
    Paul

    Paul, Oracle is first and foremost a data processing platform. It excels at crunching data. It is what it is designed to do.. and it does it damn well.
    But (and there's always a but), it depends on HOW you use Oracle. Oracle fails when you (the architect/designer/programer/DBA) fails to use Oracle correctly.
    Let's take these points one at a time.
    awk is better than UTL_FILE. This compares the I/O of awk with that of UTL_FILE.
    Untrue. (in fact, both awk and UTL_FILE uses the exact same libc I/O call)
    awk is better than Oracle SQL (or PL/SQL) at pattern matching.
    Maybe.. maybe not. That depends on just what you do in SQL and PL/SQL to pattern match. Oracle has regular expression support in SQL. Also, the programming flexibility of PL/SQL by far outweighs that of the very basic macro script support of awk.
    Full table scans, nested loop joins, etc.
    Bullshit. (plain and simple)
    One of our systems crunches text configuration files. 1000's of them. Every day. The configs are not "well formatted/structured". In other words, you need to parse them, use regular expressions and so on.
    This was originally written in Perl. Despite my objections about performance and scalability. Which came true. It cannot scale. Spawning (forking) multiple Perl processes to crunch this many data files caused a serious CPU and memory knock on the server.
    It is all now being rewritten using PL/SQL. UTL_FILE is only used to get the config file into a CLOB. It does not make sense to use "external o/s files" when you have CLOBs (which is the database version of an o/s file). All further processing is done using global temp tables, collections, etc. - as per Oracle fundamentals and best practice methods.
    The new approach has shown to be significantly faster and a lot more flexible. And scalable... (once in a CLOB, each RAC node has access to the "file" and a number of RAC nodes can be used to crunch the data)
    And yes, I love my awk and grep and will not swap my bash shell for anything else. But then I have long since stopped using shell scripts (and awk etc) to design and write production systems in. It is just plain stupid.. speaking from personal experience and many a battle scar.

  • Batch Processing and Putting Two files together?

    Hello,
    I'm trying to find out if there is a way, in Photoshop, to automate placing a logo file and border from another file into a set of photos? Basically, I have a folder of, let's say, 4x6 images, and I have a file that has two layers, a thin transparent border layer, and a layer housing the logo. I would like to find out if it's possible to automate the process where I can batch a lot of files to put this file (or the two layers) onto the original image, then save and close and go on to the next file. Any ideas how to accomplish this? Thanks!
    Regards,

    Here is a simple script I made a while back that allows you to place one of two different logo files on the image, depending whether the image is upright or horizontal in orientation.
    All you need is to put you two logo files in a folder and tell the script which folder they are in. After that, when you run the script, it will place the appropriate logo file onto you image depending on the orientation. I used "C:\\MyLogoA.tif" and "C:\\MyLogoB.tif" for this script.
    You can run this script from a batch process.
    var doc = app.activeDocument; // This defines the active document
    var width = doc.width.value; // This is the width of the original image
    var height = doc.height.value; // This is the height of the original image
    // Call the placeLogo function
    if(width>height){
    placeLogo("C:\\MyLogoA.tif");
    }else{
    placeLogo("C:\\MyLogoB.tif");
    // This is the placeLogo function
    function placeLogo(path)

    var id35 = charIDToTypeID( "Plc " );
    var desc8 = new ActionDescriptor();
    var id36 = charIDToTypeID( "null" );
    desc8.putPath( id36, new File( path ) );
    var id37 = charIDToTypeID( "FTcs" );
    var id38 = charIDToTypeID( "QCSt" );
    var id39 = charIDToTypeID( "Qcsa" );
    desc8.putEnumerated( id37, id38, id39 );
    var id40 = charIDToTypeID( "Ofst" );
    var desc9 = new ActionDescriptor();
    var id41 = charIDToTypeID( "Hrzn" );
    var id42 = charIDToTypeID( "#Pxl" );
    desc9.putUnitDouble( id41, id42, 0.000000 );
    var id43 = charIDToTypeID( "Vrtc" );
    var id44 = charIDToTypeID( "#Pxl" );
    desc9.putUnitDouble( id43, id44, 0.000000 );
    var id45 = charIDToTypeID( "Ofst" );
    desc8.putObject( id40, id45, desc9 );
    executeAction( id35, desc8, DialogModes.NO );
