Tranferring CS software

I'm planning to upgrade to CS6 by downloading the software. If I purchase a new computer in the future, can I transfer or re-download the programs on my new machine?

Yes. And generally there is those thing called backups. Nothing stops you from buying a cheap USB thumdrive to store the installer for future use.

    Hello Anybody that can help,
    I purchased a VAIO computer that came preloaded with Photoshop and with Primeire 8.0 and now that I am upgrading to a new computer (5 years later) I am having trouble tranfering the software to my new computer. I have tried tranfering the program files but I keep getting locked out of accessing them. I don't know how to move the working software on my old laptop to my new computer. I have the original serial numbers but no disks.
    Any help would be greately appreciated.

    There's always hope.
    There are very very few applications that can be copied betwen systems by symply copying the program files.  You need to get hold of the installation files, and install them on the new system.  You might need to deactivate the programs on your old system.
    We can't help more than that, because you are not in the right forum.  The Elements forum is your best bet.  BTW  Do you have the serial numbers, or even the original disks?

  • Dell Inspiron 7000 - Dragon Assistant 3.0 Software Missing?

    I purchased a 15.6" Dell Inspiron 7000 Laptop on 1-10-15 and it was supposed to come wiht Dragon Assistant, Voice Recognition Software pre-installed.  It is NOT, however anywhere on this machine.  It is advertised as being on the Laptop - both in the store, and on bestbuy.com.  The following is the Laptop information:
    Model: I7547-3020SLV
    SKU: 8733845
     I do NOT wish to return this system because I have already spent hours setting it up and tranferring files from my old system.  Is there some download or a CD that you can send me?  Thank you!

    I’m sorry to hear that your Dell laptop doesn’t have the Dragon Assistant installed as it should have. We entrust the manufacturers to deliver their devices to us with all of the appropriate pre-installed software. I greatly appreciate you sharing this information with me in regards to your Dell laptop, as it is concerning if devices are not arriving with all of the software advertised.
    While the easiest way for us to correct this would be to process an exchange in hopes the new laptop would come with the software, I completely understand why you wouldn’t want to do that.   • Recommended Photo Album Software? (PSA 3.0 SE?)

    I have used Photoshop (v6.0 thru CS) for some time now.
    I use this for both complex and simple imaging editing. I have no real intention/desire to use any "simplified" solution for basic editing.
    I need a Windows based Photo Album solution to view, categorise etc. my "snap shot" library. I have downloaded and started to use Photoshop Album v3.0 SE to do this, primarily due to my familiarity with and confidence in Adobe.
    However, I am not sure whether this is the most sensible solution for me. Does anybody have any recommendations.
    My main concern is that of portability and future proofing (I have made a separate post relating to the problems I am having tranferring my "album" to a new PC).
    I don't have any issues in paying for software, but am trying to avoid over-kill; in particular, I don't think I require PS Elements to allow me to store/view/categorise images when the remainder (majority) of it's features will be wasted.
    I had expected Adobe to offer a highly competent stand-alone image organisation tool. Am I right in saying that this does not actually exist, and the PSA v2.0 is now superceded (by PSA 3.0 SE & Elements).
    Any suggestions?

    Firstly, when it comes to software, future-proofing is almost impossible. Adobe have a degree of openness in their solutions, which gives you a chance.

    Not quite. PSA 2 is
    officially still a shipping/supported product and has greater functionality than PSA SE 3 [don't be fooled by the version numbers]. PSE 3/4 add further capabilities.
    Considering that it is so cheap, PSE 4 is worth considering, even if you don't use any editing capabilities, you'll get the best image organizing software that Adobe currently offer, which integrates very well with CS.
    Further down the line, Adobe's Lightroom is probably what you want. It's in public beta [on Mac], so don't expect it too soon.

    I bought H&R block tax software on Dell's software site, I made sure that the software was Mac compatible. When I went to download the software, I found out that it could not downloaded on a mac:( Others had success downloading it to a windows machine and then just transferring it to the mac. I transferred the zip file to the mac and tried to open it with no success, it just had a text box with a bunch of jibberish on it. I opened the zip file on the windows machine and tranferred the unzipped program to the mac, but same thing happened. The program only has a .exe file, don't I need to find a .dmg file? I assumed that when I unzipped it their would be a .exe and a .dmg, but it is not so. Anyone have any advice?

    If you got a .exe file, that is the Windows version of the software. You'll need to contact whoever you bought it from about downloading the Mac version.

    A ZIP file that contains a .EXE file is Windows software. I would suggest contacting the seller of the software for their help in providing you with a Mac version.

    I got a question regarding running iOs and Windows using virtual software. I recently bought a monitor so I can display Windows on it and run both OS at the same time.Now,I'm using BootCamp. I downloaded VirtualBox for "tranferring" Windows on it. Since I'm a new iOs user , what do I need to do in order to make work?
    Do I need to un-install Windows from BootCamp,install VirtualBox and then install them again?

    That should work to use OS X, you can run MS Windows using Virtual Box and use a seperate display for the Virtual Box window. That way you can run OS X and MS Windows simultaneously. However remember Virtual Box is freeware and not a commercial application like Parallels or VMWare Fusion and may not have the features of a commercial application. Support for Windows run in any virtualization application (Virtual Box, Parallels or Fusion) is not generally done on this forum as they are not OS X related. To get help on those apps you usually will need to go to their forums.
    Remember IOS will not run on either OS X or MS Windows, it only works on IOS devices.

  • Transferring Apple Software to another partition

    Hi!
    My computer's hard drive was divided into 5 partitions a few years ago and after subsequent updates, etc. the partition that holds my systems folders is currently way too full for comfort.
    I've long since transferred all my applications (except for the ones that came with my computer, like iTunes, iPhoto, iCal, etc.) to another partition.
    Does anyone know which, if any, of these remaining software applications can be safely tranferred to another partitipon without causing problems?

    How large is your drive? and How large are the partitions?
    What you are asking can be done, depending on your answers to the above questions. However, it does make for a very inconvenient and inefficient arrangement, to say the least. Your partitions are more of a hindrance than a help. In the long run you are better off backing up your Users Folder and any third party apps you don't want to or can't reinstall, and reformatting you entire HDD. Then you can re-install the OS and restore your data. If you don't have a good reason for wanting partitions it would be better to have just one partition.
    Post back if you have further questions or need help with the reformatting and re-installation.

  • New/Needed software for a Zen To

    I have already ordered my Zen on newegg.com, its on its way as i type. Is there any software/that i really need beside the player driver. And what firmware(s) should I use. What program should i use for tranfering music back and forth? And I haven't seen to much problems with the player but the "hold-button" on the back. What earbuds should I buy with a budget of like $30? Any help would be thanked for.

    You will need to install at least the driver, if you are planning on using it with say Windows Media Player. It comes also with MediaSource, and there's other software you can use with it linked from the FAQ Part post. Depends on your preference.
    There's many threads on headphones, so I would recommend searching back.

    If the software is in the HD>Applications folder it's available to everyone. If for some reason you put software into User>Applications folder it will be available only to that user.

  • Brand new IPOD Touch Apps no longer work after upgrading software

    I got a Ipod touch for my wife Today at Wal-Mart. I brought it home, connected to wifi and downloaded some apps and also payed for some. They all worked fine. Then I connected to computer to transfer songs. It told me to upgrade the Ipod software so i Did. After it restarted none of the downloaded apps work anymore. I have read MANY MANY MANY discussions on this and there is no fix. I am not wiping out all the songs and reload everything all over again. It will take forever. My wifes BD is Friday and this is making me so mad after I just dropped $300 on this thing. APPLE!!! Where is the fix? I deleted the apps and reinstalled they still don't work. Anybody got this figured out? I am getting ready to get my money back and tell everyone to avoid buying ipod until they get this upgrade bug fixed.

    I have the same problem. Brand new two days ago. I synched the touch with Itunes but wasn't hooked up to the internet at the time so didn't do the software upgrade right away. Then I downloaded about a dozen apps (free and paid) with wifi directly to the touch. They all worked fine. Then I plugged it back in to Itunes and had it upgrade it to 3.1.2. It locked up Itunes several times since then and the downloaded apps no longer work (they start to open then disappear).
    The problem is, no one is listening to this problem (including Anna above)! Everyone says "just do a hard reboot, or restore to factory settings, reload the apps, etc." I've tried all the standard troubleshooting but none of it fixes this. It sure seems to me this is a problem with 3.1.2 but Apple isn't helping out here. Where are you APPLE? Use some of those outrageous profits you're making to fix the problem you have created. Here's $300 of my hard earned dollars pretty much down the drain.

    We have volume licenses of Adobe InDesign CS6 and Photoshop Elements 12 that we would like to deploy.

    I have just bought the Adobe creative Cloud for enterprise.
    I had download the creative cloud and now each software is asking for a licence number but I can't find it.
    And I have no acces to Adobe Licensing website to get one.

    Welcome on the Adobe Forums!
    There is no serial number needed to activate the Creative Cloud, the Adobe ID will be used to activate the product.
    As the product mentioned is Cloud for Enterprise, you have to verify first if your Adobe ID (email address) has been assigned to the user rights.

    If you have already proceeded the the previous steps, please try the steps below then:
    1. Clean Up cached user login information
    Close the Creative Cloud application.
    Navigate to the OOBE folder.
    Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    Mac OS: /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
    Delete the opm.db file.
    Launch Creative Cloud.
    2. Reset the Hosts file
    Windows
       Choose Start > Run, type %systemroot% \system32\drivers\etc, and then press Enter.
    Right-click the hosts file and select Open. Select Notepad for the application to open the hosts file.
    Back up the hosts file: Choose File > Save As, save the file as hosts.backup, and then click OK.
    Search the hosts file for entries that reference Adobe (for example, 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com) and delete these entries.
    Save and close the file.
    Mac OS  
    Log in as an administrator to edit the hosts file in Mac OS.
    In a Finder window, choose Go > Go To Folder.Type /etc.
    Select the hosts file and open it.
    Back up the hosts file: Choose File > Save As, save the file as hosts.backup, and then click OK.
    Search the hosts file for entries that reference Adobe (for example, 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com) and delete these entries.
    Save and close the file.
