Transaction : classic use?

I've seen that to use transactions in Coherence, you need to get a transaction from the CacheFactory and put/get objects by calling methods on the transaction object:
TransactionMap tmap = CacheFactory.getLocalTransaction(cache);
tmap.setTransactionIsolation(txIsolationLevel);
tmap.setConcurrency(txConcurrencyLevel);
try {
tmap.begin();
String oldValue = (String)tmap.get(key);
String newValue = "new" + oldValue.substring(3);
tmap.put(key, newValue);
// commit the changes
tmap.prepare();
tmap.commit();
} catch (Throwable t) {
tmap.rollback();
But "classic" use of transactions in data managers (DB for example) is :
myDataManager.beginTransaction();
myDataManager.put(key, newValue);
myDataManager.commit();
My question is : isn't it possible to get a transaction (TransactionMap for ex.), "begin" the transaction, and handle objects with the cache object, and then "commit" the transaction?
My point is I'd like to manipulate cache like this :
NamedCache cache = CacheFactory.getCache(cacheName);
TransactionMap tmap = CacheFactory.getLocalTransaction(cache);
tmap.setTransactionIsolation(txIsolationLevel);
tmap.setConcurrency(txConcurrencyLevel);
tmap.begin();
cache.put(key, newValue);
tmap.prepare();
tmap.commit();
Is it possible?

No. The "cache" variable you have is an "autocommit" (each operation is atomic) mode. The "tmap" is the equivalent of "autocommit=false" mode.
