Transfering a .zip file

ive got a compressed ZIP file of photos that i want to send to Germany - any way i can?
Thanks

Hi macmanman,
One solution that comes to mind (assuming you are only after solutions that don't cost money) is to log in to your router, forward port 548 to your Mac's IP address, enable File Sharing in your Mac's preferences and then put the appropriate file in your Shared folder. Obviously your Mac needs to be switched on and connected to the interwebbywotsit for this to work.
With the above method, all a remote user has to do is select Go->Connect to Server... from the Finder menubar, enter your public IP address (if you don't know what your public IP address is just go to www.whatismyip.com) and log in as a Guest. This will give them access to files within your Shared folder and they can download the specific file.
If you are looking at sending large files on a regular basis, and do not have a Mac that is accessible all the time, then you will need to start considering fee based solutions which involve remote storage like .Mac etc.

  • One Orchestration for Multiple ZIP file FTP Solution.

    Problem:
Zip files are being generated from multiple locations on my network. I do not need to see any information in the Zip files. My goal is to pick up the files and transfer them to various external FTP servers.
    Solution:
BizTalk picks up the zip file using a pass-through(file) receive port. I created an orchestration because I would like to send email based on failure/success. Inside the orchestration I am using the receive port information to assign the destination party.
The send port then filters based on destination party and sends to external FTP server.
This gives me the ability to have 1 orchestration for multiple transfers. I wanted it to be as generic as possible.
    1 Orchestration - 10+ Receive Locations - 8+ External FTP Sites.
    Question:
Has anyone done this before? What should I watch out for? Do I have a good solution to my problem?

    Yes ,
This is totally a valid business scenario were you have multiple publisher of the message and there are different subscriber( FTP sites ) for your processed message .
You can have multiple receive location inside the same receive port and also multiple send port for different message subscription .
So ,Its all good from your side :)
    Thanks|

  • I've downloaded a zip file from noisetrade, but it won't open on my mac...what shall I do?

Hey guys, wondering if someone could give me some help. I've downloaded a zip file from noisetrade, but it won't open on my mac.I keep clicking and it vhanges to a cgzp file..and even when I changed the end bit to zip, it won't open. I've tried the unarchive app andthat hasn't worked either...what shall I do?
    Thanks in advance :-)

iWork (no 's') for iOS & iWork for Mac have not gone away.
iWork.com (beta) (also no 's') is going away the end of July. iWork.com (beta) is/was an online method of sharing iWork files with other users & never moved out of beta in 3+ years. It is a completely different entity than the iWork apps & is not & never has been necessary for the iWork apps to function.
A Numbers document, as well as Pages or Keynote documents, cannot be opened on a PC. You must first export them to a file that a PC can use. For Numbers that is generally Excel. In Numbers on your iPad tap the wrench & then tap Share & Print & choose Excel as the file type.
As for transfering a file from a PC to an iPad, I'm not sure as I don't use a PC.

  • I transferred a pages file from ipad to mac (also pages) via email for editing. However received message that cannot save edited document to the mac because "trial period has expired for iwork"! I have purchased pages for both machines separately. Ideas?

I transferred a pages file from ipad to mac (also pages) via email for editing. It opened normally. However, after editing, received message that cannot save edited document to the mac because "trial period has expired for iwork"! I have purchased pages for both machines separately and presumed they would work without a hitch. Am I missing something?

It used to be that to update the trial to the licensed version with the box, you just inserted the DVD & ran the installer to convert the trial to licensed. This changed with Snow Leopard. You now need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD or the Mac App Store. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user.
Yvan Koenig has written an AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his iDisk in For_iWork > iWork '09 > uninstall iWork '09.zip.

  • Java.util.zip.ZipFile.entries() shows only 99 files but zip file is fine.

    Hi,
    I have a wierd issue with java.util.zip.ZipFile
    Code as simple as
    ZipFile file = new ZipFile("my.zip") ;
    System.out.println(file.size());
For this particular zip file, it says 99 files found but the zip contains more than 60,000 files. I tried the zip with unzip and zip utilities and the zip file checks out fine. I even tried to unzip the contents, and zip 'em up all over again, just to eliminate the chances of corruption while the zip was being transferred over the network.
The same program works fine with another zip containing more or less the same number of files and prints 63730.
Any idea? This can not possibly be related to the type of files the zips contain? right? In any case, the contents of both zips are text/xml files.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    ZiroFrequency

I know its a problem with this particular zip. But whats interesting is that "unzip" can easily open / verify the zip and claims that it is a valid zip.
As I wrote earlier, I unzipped the file and zipped up the contents again in a new zip but java can't still count the contents correctly.
So I am thinking there is something to do with the "contents" of the xmls inside the zip? (characterset issues?)
There are no exceptions thrown and no error anywhere :(
I basically need to pinpoint the issue so that I can have it corrected upstream as this zip file processing is an ongoing process and I need to resolve it not just once but for the periodic executions.
Hope this helps explain the issue.

  • Zip file won't open

I have lost a few photos transfering files from the macbook g3 iphoto to the aluminum macbook and iphoto 8.0.4. The info (name, size, date) are visible but no photo. I was short of space in the ibook so I backed up iphoto on a thumb drive and 'archived it' into a .zip file. This file will not open in the macbook. (Error 1 operation not allowed). The file is 516 mb zipped. The ibook has 1.75gb available on 10 gb HD but part way thru the unarchiving process it announces the startup disc is almost full and then the ibook screen goes black. Any idea how to get at this data.

Some of the issues you relate to may have something to do with
the differences in iPhoto versions and the possibility of their being
not so directly compatible when moving images the way have did.
The compressed file should be transferred unopened to a larger
external hard disk drive or somewhere the file can be put on to
a DVD or other media, should the lack of free space in which
to open & view the compressed file be a problem in a hard drive.
Although it may not help the situation, there also are other
unarchiver software types out there which could also open
the compressed file; but only if there is adequate space in
the location (or another location can be selected) to do so.
The Unarchiver - an alternative to BOMArchiveHelper. app:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/theunarchiver.html
    The problem sounds more complex, perhaps, than it is;
or maybe it really is complex due to how you have made
this archive of the iPhoto image library from the older
iBook (? you say Macbook G3) and its iPhoto version.
Accessing the jpg images should be relatively easy if they
are not messed up in some odd copy of the actual iPhoto
version from the older OS. This is where your description
is a bit lost on me. There is a way to make backups and
also copies of the iPhoto libraries themselves; but there
have been some issues (supposedly addressed) in how
older iPhoto images were seen - or not, by the newer
    version of iPhoto.
If there is not enough free space in a computer to open
a large compressed file (and run the apps, swap files
and other Virtual Memory the computer needs to work)
then the file should be opened elsewhere.
A computer's hard disk drive, where the system resides,
should never be more than 80% full. Mine are 50% full.
Backups to DVDs of images, music and other works in
progress could be made to safeguard them. Some types
of libraries may not be the best way to do this; in the case
of my own images, I do not use iPhoto. My jpg and other
images are saved by date into folders, by year; any edits
are saved in their own folder in the date folder, direct from
the camera into a new folder on the desktop. One of my
favorite apps is ToyViewer for image editing, a freeware.
{My edits also are not very complex since I try to duplicate
my skills as a film photographer, in the new digital world.
Photoshop & other alterations take away from experience.
If I were to take 10 hours painting my images fantastic, I
could hardly justify not just taking up fine art. I can do it.
    Simple resizings, rotations and rename images= editing.}
Please explain in more detail about the way the image in
the older computer were archived, and where; and what
they were a part of. I don't know if I understand correctly.
PS: If the image file you compressed (assuming it is only
images and not part of the older iPhoto app) you could
try to see if using FireWire target disk mode could be used
to get the files direct from the iBook hard drive into another
computer; not sure what MacBook you have, some new
ones lost the FireWire ports. The compressed file could
be moved from iBook to another computer & opened there.
    Good luck & happy computing!
    edited.

  • Waas caching problem with zip files

    hi,
When we send same zipped file to branches, waas does not cache that file, without zipping waas caches the file. Is there any restrictions for zip file?

    Hi Muhammed,
When you say that WAAS is not caching, I guess you mean that the optimization achieved is much lower than without zipping the file. Am I correct?
If that is the case, then, I'm afraid it's the expected behavior. The cause for this is DRE
In general terms, the way DRE works is by caching small chunks of a file. Later on, when these chunks are seen again in the file (either in the same connection or subsequent ones), they will not be transferred through the WAN link and instead, a chunk identifier (very small) will be sent. The problem is that all compression algorithms work in a similar way, removing repeating parts of the file to make it smaller.
The result is that, any file that is encrypted/compressed has almost no repeating patterns in it, and therefore, even though DRE is applied, the reduction ratios are minimal, sometimes even getting to the point of making transfer even slower than without it.
As a general good practice, if you are using WAAS to optimized your data transfers, make sure that the files you are transferring are neither compressed nor encrypted. This way you will get the maximum optimization ratios out of WAAS.
I hope this answers your question

  • The sqldeveloper-v1.0.0.zip file does not appear to be a valid archive.

    Hi Guys!
Cud ne1 tell me why does the sqldeveloper-v1.0.0.zip file not show ne contents to me after I try to unzip/open it? I've a 98SE m/c.
Actually I know that sql developer wud work only on higher platforms, but currently i'm jst downloading the setup.
Pls help me on this, also tell me if the sql developer is available elsewhere on Oracle.com website.
    Thanks & Regards.
    -Rahul K.

In the page of download exists the information on the size of each available archive.
It compares this value with the one of the archive that you have in its machine.
Perhaps the archive has not been transferred completely.

  • FSCM MP9 - unable to extract the zip file EODS_QUERY_FIX

    Hi,
I am applying FSCM 9.1 Maintenance Pack 9 on Finance application.
During on estep I need to apply the project, which can be found on EODS_QUERY_FIX.ZIP
"Please locate EODS_QUERY_FIX.zip in upd878541\upd878541_install and manually apply the project to your Database."
I am unable to extract the zip file.
It's high appreciated if some one can help me in extracting or identifying the project.
    Thank You!
    Best Regards
    Soundappan

    Hi,
I had the same exact issue yesterday. From my install workstation I was unable to open the zip file but from another PC I could open it with no errors, so I've copied the archive I could open from my PC to my install workstation and still I could not open it.. very strange.
The difference between my PC and the install workstation was that on my PC I'm using 7zip and on the install workstation I'm using WinZip.
So I've extracted the zip file with 7zip on my PC then, still on my PC I've recreated a new zip file, transferred this to the install workstation and finally I could open it!
    Hope this helps

  • Damaged Zip File...

I am sure this question does not belong here, but I am full of hope someone will be able to help... I backed up an external firewire wire drive to another one, on that drive was about 90GB of music. I zipped it using stuffit and ran the verification process afterwards... all seemed to go well and also the indication was that the file was ok... After installing Leopard, I went back to my backup and tried to unzip it to a different drive and I get an error... I have searched for a zip repair program for OSX and cannot find one. I transferred the file to my windows machine and I am using a program called Zip Repair Pro... It seems to be working just fine, however at this rate it may get it done by 2009... Does anyone know of a program that can repair a large zip file in osx? Also for future reference is there a size limit on backups I should be aware of? Thanks for all and any help....

    kevinr621...
Be careful so that your back isn't against some brick wall, such as is there enough HD room to unzip the file, and it doesn't come against some other restrictions. Like a FireWire box that chokes on lets say 240GB. (90 GB file + an expected 150GB expanded file. Numbers here are just an example, your mileage may vary)
Problem is I have no clue if your FW box is compliant above 200, 250, 300 or even 350GB. Maybe even the manufacturer doesn't know, but they should.
Unfortunately limits are likely your issue more than a corrupt file. Another likely possibility, Leopard is waiting for Stuffit to be updated. Changing of the Mac OS Guards can do this sort of thing

  • Unable to unarchive ZIP file Error - 1

Every time I try to archive a ZIP file, i get the message "Unable to archive (Error - 1)" How can I fix this?

I have to agree, the most likely scenario is a bad file. As I mentioned earlier, I don't think there are any Mac utilities for attempting a repair. "Repair" is somewhat vague. If a file is bad it is missing data, and likely this data is critical to the running of the file. If you could repair this file (say, on a PC) you still might end up with a corrupt movie file which might refuse to play. Even if the movie plays it might end early or something.
Could this possibly be part of a multi-part archive set? The file extension is totally wrong for that but the "05" suggest more than one of something.
I have also read there are some obscure utilities that do flavors of zip that can't be opened on Macs.

  • I can't update Fiefox since update 10.o1 or 10.02. Every time I try to I get the same message, "7 - ZIP File is missing" I don't know how or where to correct this problem. I'd really appreciate any help that corrects this problem. Thanks sovery much,

    Missing "7-Zip File"
    Hello,
I haven't been able to update Firefox since 10.01 or 10.02 because every time I try I get the same message the "7-ZIP File" is missing. Then the update fails. I've submitted this problem to Mozilla Firefox and, got an immediate reply of " they are researching your problem".
Well, you can tell how long that has been. Is there anything I can do, or any where I can go to get the file I need?
Any constructive help would be very much appreciated! I'm not sure If I'll ever be able to find where this is located. But I do appreciate help just the same.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.<br />
Disable your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes installing work.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 11.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data because all profile folders will be removed.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

  • Error reading zip file containing an excel file

    Hi all,
Using servlets I am able to zip an excel file using java.util.zip package. The excel file is created using POI API.

    Jdcunha,
I am new to the field but encountered the same problem and recently found a solution. Hope this helps.
For my project I wanted to create individual Excel 2003 workbooks for each file I created. Excel would give me the same error it gave you when I used the same HSSFWorkbook object. I tried creating a new Workbook object each time, but ran into the same issue.
I ended up fixing the error by creating a new instance of my write-to-excel class each time I wanted to create a new workbook, instead of just recreating a new HSSFWorkbook object. It works perfectly and the Excel errors don't show. It may also be important to note I used OutputStream, I did not try it with printwriter.
