Transform XML using XSL, output XML

Hi all,
I have an xml document and I want to transform it using an xsl file. As a result I want an xml document, it's possible? Anyone could help me?

How to convert to ' ' in xml using xsl.

Hi all,
I have a string downloaded which has the following string
String= text1 <I> text2 </I⁢
I have italics tag in my xml file. But my browser does not identifies italics. So i decided to comment out italics tag in my xml using xsl
So what i need is
String = text1 text2
basically to comment out italics tag alone.
How can i replace <I> to ?
Is there any way in xsl to do the above in a string?
or
Any other ways where i can just remove <I> in my out xml file using xsl?

Hi,
The ultimate solution would be that you also install also a cocoon server (http://cocoon.apache.org/), but that might be overkill.
Have a look at /people/sap.user72/blog/2004/11/10/bsphowto-generate-pdf-output-from-a-bsp for detailed info on creating PDF from BSP.
If you want to use XSL(-FO), you might have a look at things like http://alt-soft.com/products_xml2pdf.jsp to be called as external command.

Error occured while transforming payload using XSL

Hi,
When i deployed the SOAOrderBooking BPEL process, an instance created successfully in BPEL console (after submitting orders successfully), but when i clicked the instance window in ESB control to confirm that the service instance successfully received the order and initiated the SOAOrderBooking BPEL process, i can see 2 instances there OrderBookingESB and FulfillmentESB, so now the issue is the FulfillmentESB instance created with some error which is given below:

Besides after submitting orders, when i clicked "View Current Orders", iam getting 500 internal server error: Servlet error: An exception occurred. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.
If anyone know how to solve this issue plz let me know...

Looks like you might not have imported the xsl within the project. When you import the files from outside your project you have to have "Add to project" checked.
Check if you see the xsl file within the project folder.

XSL-1009 error in XML to XML using XSL

I'm using XSL to transform one XML format to another using and XSL transform file. I'm initiating this with ORAXSL in.xml transform.xsl out.xml. The XSL file has in it:

<xsl:import href="../generic/parsePOHeader.xsl"/>

<xsl:template match="/">
ORAXSL gives an error of XSL-1009: Attribute xsl:version not found in XSL:Stylesheet.
Putting an XSL: prefix on the version doesn't help. A search for help on this site had a solution for XSL that create HTML.
Has anyone else solved this problem?

Thanks everyone for th ereply. Yes, I tested the mapping in integration bulider and it works fine. Even the file conversion works fine intermittantly! Sometimes it converts successfully and wrties file to target location and sometimes I get this error. I checkd in sxi_cache and I see the mapping xsl files there. I jus had basis reboot PI server and run some cache commands but still same problem! Also, when I have to files in source directory sometimes it converts both, sometimes one and sometimes both fails! I haveno clue what els to try.
What are adapter nodes and wher can I check for that?

Combining xml using xsl

I have two xml files...
File1.xml
<table>
<field1 name="id">
<filed2 name="name">
</table>
file2.xml
<table>
<field1 type="int">
<field2 type="char">
<index ....>
</table>
I want to read file1.xml and update the field
attributes in file2.xml to contain the name attribute
and write the whole thing to file3.xml
So my output file3.xml should look like
file3.xml
<table>
<field1 name="id" type="int">
<field2 name="name" type="char">
<index ....>
</table>
Any ideas as to how do i do it??

Embedding inline HTML data in XML using the mx:XML tag with < and >

What is best practice for embedding HTML within the
<mx:XML> tag? Programmatically, I can implement this
successfully:
[Bindable]
public var xmlDP:XML = <component data="<" />;
However, I get the following error if I try to store the same
data inline in an mx:XML tag, as such:
<mx:XML id="xmlDP">
<component data="<" />
</mx:XML>
Error #1095: XML parser failure: Unterminated attribute.
If I change the MXML tag as follows, it works fine:
<mx:XML id="xmlDP">
<component data="&lt;" />
</mx:XML>
Unfortunately, I also can not source the mx:XML tag to an XML
file which uses < or > codes, as it yields the same
results. This leads me to believe that the <mx:XML> tag does
not support the special character codes for < and >, but why?
Incidentally, this code also gives a 1095 error:
<mx:XML id="xmlDP">
<component data="<" />
</mx:XML>
This is causing an issue with my source data as it is not
hand typed into Flex, and standard XML supports the < and
> codes. I have tried a full HTML string, as shown below,
but this also generates the error:
<mx:XML id="xmlDP">
<component data="<b>Test</b>"
/>
</mx:XML>

I’m generating the XML source file with
Microsoft’s XML Notepad 2007. It will encode invalid special
characters automatically. My understanding is that this is the
proper way to handle the less than symbol in a XML string, that is
to say using the < code.
With respect to the escape and un-escape methods, I am able
to successfully implement these in AS, but not in MXML. This makes
sense considering they are AS methods, but I was hoping to be able
to do something like:
<mx:XML id="xmlDP">
<component data="escape('<');" />
</mx:XML>
This gives the following compilation error:
The value of attribute "data" must not contain the '<'
character.
As does using the escape character as such:
<mx:XML id="xmlDP">
<component data="\<" />
</mx:XML>
Below is an example of what the escape character may be used
for in AS:
var myString:String = "\"";
trace(myString);
// result: "
Likewise, I can escape the < character as such:
var myString:String = escape("<");
trace(myString);
// result: %3C
<mx:XML id="xmlDP">
<component data="%3C" />
</mx:XML>
trace(un-escape(xmlDP.@data));
// result: <
As you can see, using %3C and unescaping in AS will yield the
correct result; however, this is not a practical method of
representing the data in MXML as I would have to write an AS method
to un-escape the XML string anyway, so I might as well just store
the data in AS to begin with. I was hoping for a way to source an
mx:XML object, without having to load it into ActionScript
manually. Here’s an example of the functionality I would
expect:
<mx:XML id="xmlDP">
<component data=">" />
</mx:XML>
trace(xmlDP.@data);
// result: >
Only this does not work for the less than symbol. I’m
assuming at this point that this is a bug in the Flex compiler.

I query data using JDBC and I want to store it to an XML file which has a well defined XML schema. I searched a lot in the forum but did not find an answer. Please guide me to create this program.
I have managed to use JDBC to get result set but I do not know how to export is to XML using XSD and Java.

Iterate through the result set, and build up the XML stream by creating an entry for each row.
Another way to do it is to load the ResultSet into a Java object and serialize that to XML using something like XStream.

I have an OutOfMemoryError when applying an xsl transformation to generate html
code in a web page. I'm running Weblogic 6.1 sp2
I think the problem comes from the objectin which th html is stored during the
transformation. The problem only occurs from a minimal xml size. I could fix
it by increasing JVM allocated size but I would like to find a more flexible solution.
If I know an other way to solve this problem, I really would appreciate !

IDML modification using xsl and xml

Hi All
I am new to IDML development and get stuck at first step.
I know that IDML becomes a bunch of xml files so if I create a template and Export it as IDML and for processing the job, I want to modify the story xml file among all the xml files which has some special content in it so is it posible to change only that particular xml file using any java sample example given in SDK or other class files which has this feature ??
One more question, might be novice, what is use of schema in all IDML process and how to generate the schema using the script given in SDK ??.

I assumed I would run into problems like this, so I've decided to transform XML in backing bean and send it to response's output stream and this works for me. Now I'm struggling to get my css file in this backing bean so I can use it as a parameter in my XSLT transformation. We have a css file that ADF loads, can you tell me how do I get a reference on it on a backing bean?

I noted that this XSL uses only the "general" node identification functions (e.g., name() ) to access nodes in the <xsl:value-of select..>. I have also noted that standard XSL templates from other sections of the documentation, for example in Chapter 3 and in Appendix D, do not work with an XML which is validated against an XSD schema.
Can anyone give me an example <xsl:value-of select..> that addresses a specific node in the "purchase order" example, like the shipTo, name, street -- or any other specific node. This is critical since there is always bound to be node-specific processing in any transformation, and this is not demonstrated by any example of XML which has been validated against an XSD.
I have tried this endlessly on my own examples of XML w/XSD validation. Even if the value-of select="name(.)" tells you that the name of the node is "FooBar", you cannot use FooBar as a select test to do FooBar specific processing.

How to turn off XML tag when outputting xml nodes?

I'm outputting some xml data and each time ColdFusion adds the <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> tag. Is there any way to turn this off?

It's difficult to tell what are are doing and how best to remedy it without you giving us at least some idea what your code looks like.

Cannot view PDF created by passing xml and XSL-FO using UTL_HTTP

Using UTL_HTTP Iam trying to contact a servlet which uses the input XML and XSL/FO to produce a PDF.However, when I run the procedure , I get the following error 'File does not begin with -%PDF' ? I checked the output on the console and the blob values does not start with %PDF . Below is the sample from my code , please let me know if Iam commiting a mistake somewhere. Hello guys! I have been assigned the same task,i.e to generate pdf through xml using xsl stylesheet.
I have a procedure which is creating the xml and the stylesheet. But I have no idea how to write the procedure which passes this xml to fo engine. I am very new to this. Can anyone please share your thoughts with me so as how to accomplish this? By reading blogs on internet I figured I would have to use UTIL_HTTP but don't know how.

It's possible that the Troubleshooter doesn't work correctly unless IE is your default browser. You could test that possibility by having IE make itself the default and testing the Troubleshooter again.

Problem using xsl to convert xml to xml

I have and xml doc that has a format similar to this:
<HEADER>
<ORDER_NUMBER>
<ORDER_DATE>
<LINE>
<LINE_NUMBER>
<ITEM>
</LINE>
<LINE_NUMBER>
<ITEM>
</LINE>
</HEADER>
When I convert from xml to xml using xsl I do not get the second occurence of <LINE>, everything else looks fine.

and I received error message as "Error occurred while processing myxsl.xsl: Error in expression: '*|/'."
Actually, the source xml file and xsl script I used were copied from the book "Professional XML".
Do you know what's the problem and could you show me setting for the classpath?
