Transition Timing?

I need some help with transitions. Is there a way within Captivate to change the duration of a transition at the end of a slide? I'm finding that my videos are very choppy because the transitions happen too quickly, almost to the point where they aren't even noticeable. I used to work in Camtasia and within that program there was a way to specify the length of time it took to transition from one to the next; I can't for the life of me find that in Captivate and lots of internet searches came up empty. Help!

Hello and welcome to the forum,
I do not know of a possibility to change the slide transition durations, never use them personally but I"m only realizing all kind of trainings, not really using Captivate for presentations where such transitions can be more sensible. You can use effects on objects to realize other kind of transitions, or importing a PPT that has transitions... Or get back to Camtasia? Each app has its own pros and cons, I only use Camtasia for small clips of Full Motion Recording that I insert in Captivate. Really sorry,
Lilybiri

  • Record transitions timing

    Hi, I am new to keynote, and by stepping through it, i see a very powerful piece of software. There is only a function that save a lot of time creating a presentation, and it is the ability of record transitions timing.
    It would be extremely useful be able to record transitions timing just like Powerpoint does. I mean, after creating a number of slides and text with their own transition type, to have a way to launch the presentation in "timing recording " mode , then Keynote should go through each trans. following the setting order, and, at each mouse click, it should record (and set) the exact time each presentation step happens at. Exactly as powerpoint does. Is such a feature exists in keynote ?

    If you go into the Inspector/Transistions and select build options, you can select when each motion or transistion will occur. You can then select record transitions and set the timing for this!

  • Controlling transition timing in multiple multistate objects

    How can you control the timing of multiple multistate transitions in DPS? If you have two slideshows with a single button telling each to go to a particular state, the transitions go in sequence rather than simultaneously. Can you adjust the timing so each transitions at the same time and for the same duration?

    At this time, you can't run two button actions simultaneously.

  • Is it possible to record slide transition timing but not narrative?

    I'm working on a presentation and will be receiving a recorded audio soundtrack that will need to play for the entire presentation. I figured out how to delay the transitions so I can pace the slides to the soundtrack. However, when I try to export so it is a self-contained movie or flash file, I can't find an option that maintains the different transition delays. It either has to be manual (which isn't what we want) or a fixed timing (which won't work with the soundtrack).
    And if I try to record the timing, it also records the ambient noise in my office. Is there a way to record the timing but not the narration? Or, a way to export with custom delays? For the first showing, the presentation will be able to be run from Keynote, but we want to be able to distribute afterwards as we anticipate people will want to take the presentation back to their companies to share it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the Forum.
    <<And if I try to record the timing, it also records the ambient noise in my office. Is there a way to record the timing but not the narration? >>
    Go to the System Preferences > Sound > Input menu and select Line In. Then set the Input Volume control to zero. Now you can record with no audio input.
    Good luck.

  • Individual page transition timing

    Hi everyone, is there a way to adjust timing to individual page transitions to go with recorded sound - trying to convert the ugly powerpoint file into a beautifuly InDesign built pdf!
    thanks.

    Actually, it's vice versa. If you adjust the page transition speed with a normal page selected and page transition assigned, then it is pagewise by default.
    Only if you select "Apply to all pages" from the page transition panel's mini menu, then it is not individual.
    However, depending on the type of transition, you either can't adjust the speed at all or only as fast, medium or slow.

  • Automatic slide transition timing

    I'm putting together a presentation with multiple actions on each slide. The actions are all timed and I want each slide to be displayed for exactly 30 seconds before transition to the next slide.
    But I can't figure out how to set this up. Is the automatic slide transition delay timed from the when the slide appears or when the last action finishes? I tried working it out both ways and it doesn't make sense.
    e.g
    I have a slide where a picture appears after 20 seconds. I then set the auto slide transition to 10 seconds. I expected the slide to change at 30s but it actually does it nearer 40s?
    What's going on?
    Thanks

    I tried a new experiment with a fresh, new Keynote presentation. Plain white background. Three words that animate, each On Click. Move In, Bottom to Top. .2 second speed. Dragged my WAV narration file to the slide. Recorded the presentation, animating each word manually at the appropriate point in the narration. Playing back the recording in Keynote looks and sounds as intended. Exported to QuickTime. Narration starts, first animation doesn't appear in time. As soon as first animation appears, audio cuts off completely. Other two animations appear, with no audio.
    I even tried a different font this time (a standard OS X font). This can't be a problem with my presentation file.
    Something is wrong with the QuickTime exporting function. I'd love to know if anyone has had success (visuals and audio in sync) exporting to QuickTime after importing your narration (or sounds) by dropping an audio file on the slide.

  • Transitions in Photoshop Elements 9

    I'm using Photoshop Elements 9 to create a slideshow.  I created a simple slideshow in Photoshop and then exported to Premiere Elements to do some additional editing and add audio.  To some of the slides I've added text.  However, the transitions don't apply to any of the added text.  I've used "fade" and "dip to black"...and with both, these transitions don't work with the text, only the photo itself.  Thus, the transitions look jerky with the photos fading...but not the text.  Looks very poor.  Am I doing something wrong or is it a problem of the program?  Is there a work-around?

    1- I think you might receive a better answer if you ask (about your problem with the transitions timing on the text added to the photos) in the Premiere Elements forum.
    2- Since I can't give you a direct answer- I am suggesting a workaround which would require that you redo most of the work of creating this slide show.
    Instead of adding text during the slide show creation process, you would make a copy of the photo file for each photo that you are using in this slideshow -- then for each photo use the TEXT Tool of the Photoshop Elements Editor to add the words to each of the copy photo files.  Then make the slide show again using the "copy photo file with the text on the photo" for each image where you use added text.
    I know my workaround is a significant amount of work. I definitely recommend experimenting with only a few photos to verify that you can get your desired result. You need to take these tests to whatever will be the media format of your slideshow playback.
    If the ultimate destination ofr this slideshow video will be a DVD disc, I recommend using a read/write DVD while you are testing and then using a DVD-R for the final result.

  • RE:  Keynote to Power Point; timing off

    I created a file in KEYNOTE with multiple transitions on the BULLET POINTS. When I EXPORTED to POWER POINT then sent to my client the transition timing was off. For example, a TWO SECOND DISSOLVE translated into 1/2 SECOND. Is this a systemic problem with KEYNOTE?
    Thanks, Andy

    how do i covert keynote to power point?
    In Keynote version 6:     File > Export > Powerpoint

  • Sharepoint Picture Gallery Transition setting

    I have a problem with picture gallery slideshow. Sharepoint seem to default transition timing to 15 seconds which is frustratingly slow.
    Although I select 2 seconds for the web part setting, the slideshow defaults to the transition setting of 15 seconds.
    I need some advice on how to overcome this default setting? Hope someone can help me with this.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Is it a Picture Library Slideshow Web Part in a SharePoint 2010 environment?
    According to your description, suppose that there is a Picture Library Slideshow Web Part in your page, after modifying the “Duration to Show Picture (seconds)” settings,
    the slideshow transition speed stay no change.
    I tried to reproduce this issue in my environment, it turns out that the slideshow transition speed can be changed by modifying the “Duration to Show Picture (seconds)”
    settings and apply the changes to the web part:
    I would suggest you create another page and insert the Picture Library Slideshow Web Part there to see if the issue still exists.
    Feel free to reply if there any progress.
    Best regards

  • Sending Email after a period using due Transition

    I have a process where for a particular role only I have to send an email 5 minutes after if that particular activity is not executed.
    Everything works fine with me using a DUE transition to send an email and then go back to the activity every 5 minutes.
    But,
    When I click on the activity,it opens up a presentation form. If I keep the presentation form open for more than 5 mins and then click SUBMIT, the activity disappears from the INBOX giving me an error saying that:-
    " The instance is no longer in the activity"
    How do I solve this problem.

    The suggestion to use a Split is the only way I've kept a Due transition from timing out my Interactive activity once it has entered the screenflow too. Inside the Split / Join Circuit there would just be an Interactive activity in one branch and a Notification Wait activity in the other branch. The end user would have no more key clicks with this than they have today.
    Wish I could send you an attachment. If I could, I'd just send you my project that does this. (just send an email to [email protected] if you'd like it - I have no intent to try to sell you anything).
    Here's what I've done in the past to do what you want to do:
    1. Create a Split / Join circuit. In one leg following the Split I have the Interactive activity that invokes the screenflow. In the other leg following the Split, I have a Notification Wait activity. The property setting for this Notification Wait activity is set to be notified by "External" in 5.7 or "Internal" in 6.0. Coming out of the Notification Wait activity I have two transitions. There's an unconditional (transition taken if an end user is in a screenflow) and a Due transition (transition if no end user invokes the screenflow).
    2. For the Interactive activity, I create a screenflow. I pass in the id.id predefined variable into the screenflow and the copy number of the instance reaching the interactive activity. If I know this, from inside the screenflow, I can have as the first task in the screenflow an automatic task that sends a notification to the process's Notification Wait activity. As part of the notification, I send the Notification Wait acitivity the argument that provides a flag (notifiedBySf variable is this flag in the sample code shown below) that indicates that this notification was caused by the screenflow and not the Due transition timing out.
    3. In the Join activity I have the logic:
    if !copy.notifiedBySf then
    logMessage "Not notified by SF"
    action = RELEASE
    else
    logMessage "Notified by SF"
    end
    hth,
    Dan

  • How do I transition color or opacity when mouseover using code?

    Hello all,
    I am seeking to adjust the color or opacity of an object solely with code, without using any keyframes.
    How would I enter the proper code to shift the opacity of an object to be 50% on mouseover, and 100% on mouseout? It would be amazing if I could even apply transition timing.
    I tried using:
    {-webkit-transition: opacity 0.5;}
    but had no luck.
    Thank you in advance for any help!
    Eric

    First, you must check compatibility of CSS filters here, not all browsers suport all CSS filters.
    Without animation:
    sym.$("pi-001").css({"-webkit-filter":"invert(1)"});
    Without animation and passing variable:
    var inv=1;
    sym.$("pi-001").css({"-webkit-filter":"invert("+ inv +")"});
    For animation I think that you must create an embed function inside alternative syntax of animate method in step parameter:
    var inv=0;
    sym.$("pi-001").animate({"opacity":"1"}, {duration:1000, easing:"swing", queue:true,
         step: function(){
              inv>=1? inv=1: inv+=0.2;
              console.log("Invert:" + inv); //only for test
              sym.$("pi-001").css({"-webkit-filter":"invert("+ inv +")"});

  • BSOD when plugging into Dynadock U3

    Hi There,
    We have a wide number of Toshiba Dynadock u3.0's working with a number of Sony Vaio Laptops. In the main they have worked pretty well, and have improved over time as new releases have come out.
    At the moment we are rolling out the new Sony Vaio Pro laptops, and Dynadock is almost essential for users because the Vaio Pro's do not have an ethernet adapter. We are also downgrading them to Windows 7 from Windows 8 as we are not ready for Windows 8 on a large rollout, and holding off till 8.1 goes live.
    We have had a couple of blue screen of deaths on 2 Vaio Pro's when plugging into the Dynadock. Both have the latest dynadock drivers, and we have obtained the memory dump for the machines. Before they were plugged in, they were on the WLAN in the office.
    The other half a dozen devices we have in use at the moment have not yet reported this issue, and the BSOD has appeared on these two devices only once each, but I was asked to report this issue on these forums to just confirm there is no obvious issue with the Dynadocks.
    In the meantime we have 3 other Vaio pros which are being tested and have not yet experinced the same issue.

  • Is it possible to add keyframes without clicking?

    We just migrated from FCP to PR CC, and my editors are used to adding position and scale keyframes with a shortcut key stroke.  I haven't found a way to do this in Premiere without having to go to to the Effect Controlls and click on the stop watches for each motion option.  We edit a ton of photo montages, and having a quick way to drag our CTI to the beginning of a clip, press a key, go to the end of the clip, move/scale with the mouse in the program window and be done with it would be solid!
    Additionally, once we time the photos to the VO and have made our keyframes, we add our various transitions throughout the timeline.  When doing it this way,  the keyframes have to be re-adjusted to cover the transition frames before and after each clip so the movement through the transitions are smooth.  Make sense?
    We have tried some plug-ins that try to help with this, but they mostly seem to add MORE options opposed to offering the 6 mostly used movements, in/out, out/in, up/down, down/up, left/right, and right left.
    If someone out there knows of such a plug-in, it would make our lives SO much easier!  I envision a sale-to-fit frame both vertically AND horizontally (filling the screen without pilar or letter boxing), then choose one of the 6 basic movements.
    Then, if the magic developers could allow an editor to save customized transition pre-sets (like dissolve, blur dissolve, scatter, dissolve, flip, dissolve, etc.), and magically apply the presets to the clips on the timeline while auto-adjusting the keyframes to cover the extra transition frames, man, I'd be a happy camper.
    Any suggestions on how to quickly slam through Ken Burns photo montages without having to click the mouse so many times would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey Villiam,  Kevin is referring to setting a movement on a photo setting keyframes (like zoom out to in), right-clicking on Motion, and choose save as preset.  This will put that movement into your presets folder under Effects.  I am going to try this on my next montage and see if I can find some efficiencies.  Thanks Kevin, that was a great tip!!!
    Also thanks to Jim.  I spent like 30 min looking at all the keyboard shortcuts.  It's a little overwhelming to establish a solid shortcut format that a team of editors can learn and use.  I'm going to be trying the FCP short cuts, then go back to the default.  It looks like the PR default has a lot of existing and helpful shortcuts assigned already.  It's just going to take getting used to a new platform.
    I'm still looking for tools and/or methods to allow an editor to assemble a 60 second montage with 10 photos, VO and music in 30 minutes.  It's going to be a challenge but I think it's possible with the right innovative process.  I'll still challenge anyone to find a way to quickly assemble a montage in an assembly line or template-based fashion using Adobe Premiere CC where there's on-screen text, advanced transitions, timed to VO, etc.
    I think I'm dreaming for a tool to automatically do this within Premiere, while I think the answer for now might just be customizing motion presets and creating a favorites folder of transitions that can be dragged onto each clip.  I'll see if there’s a way to apply a set of transitions or motion presets to a series of photos on the timeline opposed to doing it one by one.  I can see this solution being important as video montages are becoming more popular in our industry, and the faster we can make them using a professional software package like Premiere the more prosperous we will be.

  • How to get audio in imported files?

    I'm trying to import a keynote file from iwork 09 into the ipad version.
    the presentation has background audio (mp3) and everytime I try to import, the soundtrack is removed by the application.
    Im using the new Keynote 1.2 for ipad and keynote 5.0.4(633) on OSX 10.6.4
    Any idea what i am doing wrong?
    Help is greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Paddy

    I share your pain!!!
    I spend five hours today designing, and constructing an awesome presentation in Keynote for iPad 1.2. I then brought it into the Mac version of Keynote '09. I then added a great soundtrack in the Mac version and tried to export/import it back into Keynote for the iPad 1.2 with exactly the same results - it ripped off the sound track.
    I can't find a way from the Mac version of Keynote to "share" the presentation since I used custom slide and transition timing on the iPad version of Keynote and don't want to used "fixed" timing on each slide of the presentation.
    Bottom line I want to produce a finished Keynote to play with sound on my iPad, or a finished video that looks just like the presentation on my Mac.
    Any ideas?

  • Is it possible to do query without pre-defined EO/VO

    I want to implement the following login logic using .jsp:
    (1) user type in user_name and password, then click 'Login' button
    (2) do query on table USER: if user_name/password passed in is a valid record, login success; if not, user will be asked to login again.
    Since the login validation is only a simple query on table USER, I wonder if I could do query directly without
    defining any EO/VO. IS there any way to get DBTransaction from Application Module directly? Any sample code will be of great help.
