Translate a form to Chinese

Hi,
Somebody knows how can I translate a form in English to Chinese using the translation hub?
I already translate some form from English to Portuguess, french, spanish but when I try to translate to chinese, I pasted the chinese character and the translation hub take it as "?", someone knows why?
Thanks ins advance.
Magda

This thread is a bit old, but I had the same problem and was eventually able to fix it by doing the following:
Be sure to install the East Asian Language Pack for Windows XP
Chinese Setup:
1.     In Control Panel, in ‘Regional and Language Options’, set language to ‘Chinese PRC’
2.     In Control Panel, in ‘Regional and Language Options’, open the ‘Languages’ tab and click ‘Details’. Set the default input language to ‘Chinese (PRC) – Chinese (Simplified) - US Keyboard’
3.     Reboot computer, then set the NLS_LANG registry key to SIMPLIFIED CHINESE_CHINA.ZHS16GBK (located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_DevSuiteHome)
4.     PC is now set to run Translation Hub. There are a few things to keep in mind when using the Hub in Chinese:
i.     If copying and pasting from an Excel spreadsheet, paste the text into Notepad first. In Notepad, delete the trailing carriage return and add colon if necessary. Then copy and past from Notepad into the Hub. Translation does not work correctly otherwise.
ii.     Text pasted into the Hub in Chinese/Japanese will look like random characters (it will not look like the correct Chinese/Japanese character). The character is stored correctly in the database and will show up correctly on the report and in Reports Builder.
iii.     If text pasted into the Hub appears as ‘??????’, something is not set up correctly and the text will not be stored correctly in the database.
5.     After entering translations, make sure to do all conversions (US.rex --> ZHS.rex, .rex --> .rdf) using the same NLS_LANG setting. Changing this setting before opening Reports Builder and doing the .rex --> .rdf conversion will cause text to show up incorrectly.
Some of these steps, such as changing the input to ‘Chinese (PRC) – Chinese (Simplified) - US Keyboard’, seem a bit strange. However, I was only able to get Chinese translations to work by following all of these steps. Hopefully someone finds this useful.
Note: this is for Report translation. Use .fmb? instead of .rex

    Problem encountered:
All the data in the tables is shown as junk values. ie, ???????
NLS_LANG has been set in the registry as

I have this feeling that i am setting the wrong lang setting.
let me know if this is correct and what else can i check so that i can junk characters paves ways to chinese characters.

  • Transporting the translated smart form!

    Hi All,
We have a template smart form for PO layout in English Language.
Using this template we translate the smart form into different languages.
I have done some changes in the translated smart form in t code SE63.
When I saved it did not ask for any Transport request.
Now I want to transport the changes to quality system.

    Hello Otto,
    Thanks for your pointers.
    1) My query is not related to printing. I was aware of that forum also when I was posting the question.
    2) Thanks for reminding me that I can contribute but its should be left on my will I guess.
In the meanwhile if you have any answer for my question you can post.

  • How to Translate Forms to Chinese

    Dear OTN Users,
I have to convert an existing application developed using forms 6i to Chinese for use in China. Kindly advice how to achieve this.
We have tried to use the Translation Builder but it gives an error message " xbd-00024 Translation table does not exist" and another error " xbd - 00301 Project Insertion Failed".
Pls reply back on Urgent basis.
    Thanks

I think the most appropriate forum is the Retail Industry OTN forum at Retail
RMS is the Oracle Retail Merchandise System in this case.
What is your RMS version? There are versions that support Chinese.

  • Forms/Reports Chinese character support

We have an existing db (10.2.0.4.0) and forms (11.1.2.1.0) application, that we're trying to extend to support Chinese characters.
We're looking to add some unicode (nvarchar2) columns to existing tables, rather than converting the whole db charset.
I've pasted my environment settings below. What I've found so far in trying to create a local (ie. running the form in Builder with local weblogic running) test form, is that I can insert the chars ok (using plsql developer) and the test form can display them correctly, but cannot write them back to the database. They appear as upside down question marks in any records the form has created.
    Env variables:
    NLS_LANG = .UTF8
    Database:
    NLS_CHARACTERSET = WE8MSWIN1252
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET = AL16UTF16
    1) So, can anyone give me any pointers on how to get the form to write the characters back into the database correctly?
    2) The chinese chars will only be relevant to a few forms inside the app, are there any settings local to the form that will enable unicode support, rather than setting at OS level. ie, an alter session, or equivalent?
    3) Oracle Reprts doesn't appear to have an nchar datatype unlike Forms, is there anyway to get Reports (generating PDFs), to include Chinese, or is it not possible?
thanks in advance, please let me know if you need any more info.
    **EDIT**
I now have the chars writing back to the db ok. If you do it via an INSERT statement from inside the form, it doesn't work. It appears the value is sent to the db in the normal charset rather than the national charset, and it's written as a question mark. If you pass the value from the form into a back end stored proc though (which does the insert) it works okay.

I have not worked with Forms for a long time. Are use sure they actually support the NVARCHAR2 data type?  My memory tells me that they do not.
I recommend migrating the database to AL32UTF8.  You can support NVARCHAR2 in Forms using workarounds with stored procedures to move data as you described (you should be able to do this while reading as well.) but NVARCHAR2 data type is discouraged as it is not necessarily supported by all database features. For example, you cannot built an Oracle Text index on an NVARCHAR2 column. I am also not surprised that Reports cannot support NVARCHAR2.

  • PO output form in Chinese (traditional)

We are trying to print the PO output form (PO output preview) and as such we want some of the labels like Bill to, Ship to and others to appear in chinese.
We are maintaining the data in SO10.
While launching the Adobe (7.0) the bill to and other labels are not coming up in Chinese.
Any idea if this is an Adobe issue or we are missing anything....

    Hi,
Try using the BADi "BBP_OUTPUT_CHANGE_SF" and acc set the parameters for the smartform icluding the Language.

  • Translating ADOBE form

    Hi,
I want to translate certain texts of my PDF form from English to french. I tried using transaction SE63->Long texts->PDF based forms, but after I do my changes in the target language to the XML, when I save the translation, I'm not able to see the changes when I log in to the system in french and test the translated form.
My question is, Is there any means of activating the translated texts and attaching it to a workbench request. If yes, what is the step-by-step process to do the translation.
    Thanks,
    Satheesh Soundararaj.

    Hi,
Are you sure that in transaction se63 it tels you that all text are translated ?
Another way for this is to used SAPSCRIPT/ SMARTFORMS text . It's easier to translate and easy to use in the layout .

  • Translating Adobe Forms in WebDynpro ABAP

    Hi experts,
I use Adobe Forms for printing purposes only.
I have a form (XML based) which has to be in English and German. The original Language is German.
So I translated it via the SE63 (all the blue printed Words), which worked fine but after this it is always displayed in the English Version, ignoring the SAPuser/SAPsystem language.
Any ideas how to solve this or where to find the error?
    Best regards
    Volker

The problem lies in my Service USER which I use for the WebDynpro Application and the RFC to the ERP backend. The Method cl_wd_adobe_services->create_pdf() uses the system language of the system user which in this place is not the logged in Portal User but the mapped Service User of the WDA Application.
Easiest solution without modifiying the standard cl_wd_adobe_services class is just to duplicate the adobe form for the needed langugaes and to call the appropriate one from the webdynpro.
    Best regards.

  • Translate toolbar language from chinese back to english

my children installed other chinese language program & Firefox toolbars now become chinese words which i don't understand chinese words. now how to translate it back to english?

If you have the Firefox user interface (menu bar) in the wrong language or want to change the current language then you can get Firefox in the language of your choice here:
    http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
Uninstall the current Firefox version, but make sure that you do not remove your personal data.
Install the new Firefox version of the wanted language.
You may need to (re)set the pref "general.useragent.locale" to the preferred language (e.g. "en-US" or "en-GB") on the about:config page.
You can open the about:config page via the location bar, like you open a web site.
Use the Filter bar at the top of that page to quickly locate the pref.
