Transparent videos

I am trying to play one video on top on the other, with a variable level of transparency for the video on the top.
I have put the two videos on two different layers, using light weight JMF. But I cannot change the transparency of the videos. I suppose it requires a much more complex approach.
2 or 3 related posts have been posted on this forum in the past, but there were either no answer or incomplete answers. I would appreciate your help.

Nobody answered the question... I suppose this is a difficult one.
I finally solved the problem this way: I extract all the images from the two videos, using JMF, and then I compose them with Java2D, using transparency. Then the playing of the video is performed without JMF.
It should be possible to do this operation within JMF... but it is working now, so I will not work further on this.

Creating a alpha transparent video

Hi,
I am tasked to create a video that has a transparent background.

I came across a solution called JQuery See Thru - https://github.com/m90/jquery-seeThru
But before the plugin can work, I will need to append the alpha channel below the actual video. I have tried using track matte in AE but it doesn't work.
Any advice or any other solution to create alpha transparent video for html5?

To build on what Mylenium said, you need to render your video out of After Effects with an alpha channel. If you're looking to deliver a video for the web, it'd be best to render a lossless file out of AE (with Alpha) and use the Adobe Media Encoder to make the FLV with alpha.

Transparent Video in Captivate 6 to HTML 5

So I have shot some video on a green screen, removed the background in After Effects and have saved the video in an alpha channel. I want to place the video into Adobe Captivate 6, these video are going to be a talking narrative throughout the slides. After importing and placing the video where I want it, I go to preview. If I preview the slides in Captivates normal previewer the background is transparent, just the way I want it. But if I preview it or publish it to HTML 5 the background becomes black. HTML 5 is what this project needs to be viewed in. Am I doing something wrong or does HTML 5 not support transparent video. Thanks for your help.

Crop Doesn't Work as effect on Transparent Video. Why?

What is the simplest way to crop and mask a video?
I have a video clip with motion controlled keyframes for rotation .. and unfortunately the crop effect rotates with the keyframes.
Logic says that a crop effect on a Transparent Video should work .. but it doesn't.
I searched for crop - mask - matte in the forums and found nothing relevant . ..

A transparent clip is not the same as an adjustment layer. Effects added to it only work on that transparent clip. Therefore cropping nothing produces no visible result.

"Transparent Video" is NOT transparent

I am using Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium. MY OS is Windows VISTA running on 64 bit with 8 GB of memory. I have a 300 GB HD with 106 GB free space. My projects and assetts go to an Enhance Tech RAID system with over 2 TBs free.
For some odd reason when I activate the "transparent video" and drag it to the timeline it is NOT transparent. I of course place it on the highest video track, because I'm using it for timecode when having videos evaluated. The only work-around is to change the Blend Mode from Normal to Screen, unfortunately when you go that route it has to be rendered, which takes forever.
For kicks I clicked on Bars & Tone from New Item and the color bars don't appear. The tone works fine, but the video is pure black just like the transparent video.
Any ideas on what my problem could be?

Read Colin's post. I think he is right; its probably not necessary to recapture footage to test since you are testing non captured acessts. Just use a non matrox preset.

Keynote Export "Transparent video"

This maybe a some tip and trick how to export form Keynote transparent chart animations and what ever...
i looking for answer around the network, but no answerts of this question! So i figure out how to do this and i like to share it (maybe helpful for others)
1. Create a transparent .png file (i take for example my steps) i created in Photoshop transparent image 1024x576 for PAL Widescreen. Export as .png
2. Open Keynote, make your own animated chart, pie or whatever you like.
3. Open inspector > Document inspector set your size. (For my situation i choice 1024x576)
4. Go to Slide inspector. Under Background choice Image Fill and use your transparent .png image
5. File/Export.
6. check include transparency. Under formats choice "Custom"
7. Choice Settings!
8. In Video Compression Settings Choice Animation Set your frame rate. Set Keyframes to Automatic. Set Depth to Millions Of Colors + (Quality - set to Best)
Thats all!
Transparency are not working by default - it works only when you set a transparent Color Fill
this is some kind of Keynote Bug or so...

This also works if in your step 4, you choose "Color Fill", then using the Color well, choose any color you want, AND set its Opacity to 0%. No need for the transparent .png file this way.
(I sure wish the Include Transparency check box would stay checked from one export to the next!)

Update to Flash Player 11 bring bug with wmode="transparent" & video plays at half speed in IE 9

Since i updatet to Flashplayers 11 still i get, wie other peoples here too - a bug in wmode transparent and video plays in half speed (Sound still be correct)!
It seems the transparent bug ist just in IE9!
Firefox 7 & Google Chrome works properly!
Video play half Speed Bug it seems IE9 Browser (with Flasplayer 10.x.x it still work before properly)!
The older Version of Flashplayer 10. x:x still work properly in IE9!
Please refix the bug in the Flashplayer 11 as soon as possible for IE 9!

Creating Transparent Videos

Hello, I would like to create video with transparencies. You know how a PNG file can have the background transparent, and only some parts opaque? Can the same thing be done for videos?
What I would like would be to create a file in After Effects, that I can export to MPG, AVI, or some other format, which I can then import into Premiere and by having that clip on a video track above another clip, it will overlay itself with transperancies on the clip below it.
Do you know what I mean? I hope I explained that coherently! Please let me know if there is a way to do this, without chroma key'ing in Premiere.

Oh my god! Finally! I was able to do this. I've been trying to figure this out for SO long now. So Mylenium is right in that you need to use Alpha channels, but I'll explain more fully for people who also have this problem and hate the "read help page" type of "help".
When you're exporting your video, choose AVI and then in the codec settings area, make sure to switch it from RGB to RGB+Alpha.
The part that really threw me off was that I am used to photoshop where it tells me that the background is transparent by using little alternating grey/white squares. So I was looking for something like that to appear in After Effects to tell me explicitly which parts will remain trasnparent, and which won't. However, at least from what I can tell, there is no such thing in After Effects. That initial background you create when you make your sequence, THAT's the part that will be transparent. I hope this helps.

Transparent video chat box?

I've been using ichat, and all of a sudden from 3 months ago,
my ichat started to get crazy.
Everytime I would invite someone to ichat, and I clicked on somewhere else besides
the video chat window (for example, my desktop) the video chat window would turn transparent.
I'm not able to see anyone anymore, except I can hear them.
Also, sometimes when I click on my ichat icon below to see my other notifications,
and I press 'see chat' a random box opens up instead. Like the 'change language setting in ichat'
opens up and 'fix null's computer' or something like that opens up.
What is happening to my ichat!?

So that pic is of a Chat that has gone see-through.
Do I understand correctly that this is actually a Video Chat where you can hear the other person but that Title bar does not expand in to your Preview then their Pic with your Pic-in-pic insert (full chat window) ?
My iChat 4 Pop-up using the icon in the DOCK looks like this (in White)
The All Accounts line I have crossed out is created using an Add-On called Chax (It creates a Buddy List with All Buddies from Jabber and AIM lists in it).
Are you seeing multiple items in this top section ?
Does this include the strange Screen Share in your post below ?
If I open two Text chats (to two of the Apple Test accounts) and Open the iChat Preferences I see this
There are more items in the top section than the previous picture.
The "(Null)'s Computer" thing does seem to be a bit Odd.
Screen Shares should end and therefore clear the Open windows part of that List (It (the List) is also repeated in the Windows Menu in the Menu bar.
The Null part means the name part of the info iChat is holding on this is empty - so I don't think you are connected.
Did you have a text chat going on with this Buddy and then a Screen Share that ended with some sort of error (i.e neither of you actually ended the Screen Share and iChat Unexpectedly Quit) ?
I am presuming the Screen Share was to the same person.
I could do with knowing precisely what the other items that appear in that list are.
The top part when you use the iCon to view them (Bottom of the Windows Menu list) should be open windows of any sort in iChat.
These may be Text Chats, Audio Chats, Video Chats and as I have pointed out in the second Pic the Preferences with the lable of the current view.
With a Text Chat Open then chosing Spelling from the Edit menu I can not get the Spellchecker Pop-up (Dictionary?) to appear in the list. I presume this maybe because that is linking into the System Spellchecker and is not atually part of iChat. (The same is true of the Character Pallet (Specials Characters in the Edit menu) )
The VIdeo Preview (From the Video Menu) gets in to the list but Connection Doctor and Video Effects do not.
Summary,
I think iChat has Quit on you at some stage and is trying to remember what windows were open.
You say other apparently random things also appear in that list and I have explored what happens on my end so that you can test to some extent what you see.
This should lead you to be able to provide more precise answers.
If you are certain that you remember a Screen Share that ended strangely involving this Buddy AND You have an idea now of what is showing in that Pop-up list then you can delete com.apple.ichat.plist itself.
This is found in your Home Folder/Library/Preferences and can be dragged to the Trash.
Restart iChat and the .plist is recreated by reading defaults in the apps itself.
NOTE
This action will reset all the iChat Preferences settings that you have changed (accept the Accounts pane).
Things like the Font choice you have made, Text Colour, Background to IM colour (Balloons), Saved Transcript options, Any thing in Alerts you have changed and so on.
If you are Not sure still about the random items then please post back before taking any action.

Tool to make transparent video

Hi all,
I have posted this question to "creative suite windows" and another group, no luck so far. anyone has an answer?
I have cs4 web premium which doesn't include aftereffects. I need to however make a green/blue backgrounded video transparent (alpha channel, if I got it right) to be used by flash/as3. I'm not sure if I can use either firework or illustrator do the job? another question is, for a short movie clip, which tool can be used to edit the movie frame to turn the non-green/blue clored backgroud into green (then adding alpha channel...).

Fireworks cannot open video files. I believe Photoshop has some limited video support. You might try there.

Transparent video (with 3d model) output

Good morning,
Today I decide to give Photoshop CS4 extended a crack by working with a feature I was waiting on: better 3D controls and animation keyframing. I was easily able to open up the U3D file I was working with, get the animation correct, and render the 3D information for export.
My trouble is that I can't seem to get an export that accomplishes the following:
- A transparent background (even though there are not other layers besides the 3D file), so place in Flash.
- I cannot seem to remove the 3D axis (the one connecting to the 3D object, not the multi-color controller) from the export. It is present in everything I try, and I cannot disable it under the "View" menu.
Any help would surely be appreciated!

PDF Reference version 1.7 ("3D Background Dictionaries", page 812) says: "Currently, only a single opaque color is supported, where the color must be defined in the DeviceRGB color space."
The 3D background dictionary has a Subtype key which is described as follows: "(Optional) The type of background. The only valid value is SC (solid color), which indicates a single opaque color. Default value: SC."
This applies to Acrobat 7.0.7+ or to Acrobat 8.0.

Transparent video when exported

I am having a problem with a video I have been curently working on. I have already keyed it using keylight 1.2 and have exported it (lossless with alpha) to Premiere Pro. While previewing the video there is no visible bleed of the colors even when zoomed in. Once the video is exported to mpeg4 my black shirt allows background colors to bleed through at random intervals. I tryed rekeying multipule times with no effect and I do not beleive it was the green screen itself because I followed all greenscreen procedure (light wall, light subject, distance from wall. Do I need to rotoscope the shirt? Am I exporting it wrong? Any help would be much appreciated. If pictures are needed please ask.

Applying Time Code to a Transparent Video Layer Crashes Premiere Pro

Everytime I add timecode to a transparent layer spanning my entire sequence it crashes Premiere Pro. The only work around I've found is to turn that layer into a nested sequence. Not sure why that works and would like to fix the problem.

What operating system? What version of Premiere Pro? If Premiere Pro CS5, have you installed the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.2) update? That update fixes a lot of problems.

Synchronizing audio and video on a transparent layer - can it be done?

Let me start by saying I opened After Effects CS3 for the first time last weekIm a nubbie. To date I have been working in Premiere Pro CS3, Photoshop etc trying to tweak things and make-do with effects and titles I know After Effects was made for.
Can I apply an After Effects lighting/flash effect to transparent clip?
I have a long title in PPro that comes in as we hear the Narrator speaking. The last words are all of this for Reading! On the word reading I want to add a lens flare synchronized with and audio Ting-a-Ling bell noise.
In P-Pro I have been able to use Knoll Light Factory for the lens flare, and I found the right .wav file. Synchronizing them has been the problem its ok but not great. So here is where I turned to After Effects. Using Convert Audio to Key Frames I was able to generate a null object (?) and this I link (with the whip tool) to the Brightness and Scale attributes in Knolls Light Factory LE effect.
Great so far but Id like to apply the over all effect to a transparent clip so I can lay it right in on top of my P Pro time line. This title sequence is complex; I do not want to re-create it from scratch in After Effects. Is there a way to add a lighting effect to some sort of transparent video?

Hi Query 101! First of all welcome to the Apple community forums!
No, you don't need to configure it! I am guessing you have brought the apple wireless keyboard?
All you need to do is connect the keyboard to your iPad via bluetooth!
Go to Settings app
Select General
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on
Make sure your keyboard is in discovery mode (press the silver button on the right side of the keyboard - the green light will start flashing)
In the Bluetooth section on the iPad, you should see the wireless keyboard
Select the found keyboard to pair it with the iPad
You'll be asked to type a pairing code on the keyboard - if it's entered successfully, your keyboard will be paired with the iPad (or any iOS device with Bluetooth)
Note that when you are using the Bluetooth keyboard, the normal iPad keyboard does not appear - turn off Bluetooth or the external keyboard (press and hold the button on the right side of the Apple Wireless Keyboard), or travel outside the 10-15m range of Bluetooth to go back to using the regular iPad keyboard
