Transports SSM 7.0 SP08

Hi Guys,
We are checking through processes for ongoing transports from Dev to Live systems and wanted to be sure about Transports and what is and what is not included.
Prime concern is that when we create a Transport from Dev to reflect the new developments in the system we will also take over the current state of Comments and Initiatives. When importing the Transport into Live we will then overwrite the latest state of play in Live with the different and (comparatively) blank set of Comments in Dev.
Can you tell me which tables are taken over in the Transport and which are not? I presume that all the user preferences for Home are not affected.
I recall Mark Heff mentioning that Transports were being looked at but from the 7.5 RKT course in August it was still a case of watch this space for the details.
Thanks
Colin Cooper

Colin,
Mark was correct, we have addressed being able to filter the Transporter, but it's only going to be for 7.5 and will be in the next SP, SP4 due within a month or two.
I am still looking for what YOU can do. I did find this in the 7.0 training material:
Please be aware of the following u2013 When exporting content of a database all tables belonging to a scorecard will be collected. Each table contains a unique database key for each row, identifying, to which scorecard the dataset belongs. This means customizing data as well as transactional data will be collected and mixed up! As you might not want to move the transactional data like Operational Reviews, Initiatives and Comments from the development system into the production system think of a structural workaround, by just maintaining transactional data in the quality system and not at all in the development system. This will keep the development system clean of test data!
I am trying to find out what that structural workaround is!

    Hi,
I am facing an issue while creating metric set.Below is my scenario
I have One dimension and eleven dimension members.I have created a measure which is applicable to each dimension members.Usually when i create a metric set, under the dimension coumn i can select all the members. My issue is i can able to see only "INPUT" .Also Actual column text box is appearing under the dimension column in metric set.The alignments of the data entry sheet looks unusual.I am not sure whether this might be installation or configuration problem.

This is due to the values in the PAS document ConsolInfo.  For your KPI it must have the "all" keyword to specify EA is for all levels.

  • Manage models creation error

    Hi Experts,
I'm trying to create a model connection in the SSM Administration, the error "Error Occured Trying to Connect; Login failed". How can we evaluate the problem.
We use the same user id for fields PAS system logon and PAS user id. The said user id is defined in NWCE and Application Server Dimensional Model.
We also tried using the PIPADMIN in the PAS System Logon and GUEST for the PAS user id but no avail.
    Help please.
We are in SSM 7.5 SP08.
    Thanks.

    Hi Ricardo,
Thank you. Yes, we also did that but to no avail. Below are the users we used.

  • How to transport  KPI, Initiative, milestone,...from SSM2007 into SSM 7.5

    Dear all,
My current system is SSM version 2007, it doesn't have Netweaver CE installed.
So, I want to know how can we transport our existing Context, Perspective, Objective, KPI, Initiative, milestone...?
from the old version 2007 into version 7.5 that i just installed.
In SSM version 7.5 we use transport tool, but in SSM version 2007 i really don't know how.
    thanks, if any answers

    Hi Chamnap,
Because the metadata in SSM 2007 was in a file structured database (SQLite) and the metadata in newer versions are in other structures (SQL Server, Oracle, etc) with different formats, limits, etc. you won't be able to migrate all the information yourself from one version to the other one, instead you need SAP Support to migrate them for you.
There are some steps on how to do this in the migration guide.
    I hope this helps.

  • Replacimg performance Manager with SSM(SAP Strategy management)

    Hi,
Can any body tell me  how to migrate all the scorecards, KPIs  based on Performance Manager to SAP Strategy Management. Is there is a tool for that in SSM if not should those be rebuilt in SSM from the scratch.
how do we replicate everything fromPM to  SSM
From the developer perspective what will their tasks.
    Edited by: chrisbaker1999 on Jun 16, 2011 1:01 PM

    Chris,
What the External Data Loader does is to allow you to transfer your scorecard structure from Performance Manager to Strategy Management. What you are importing is the structure of Contexts, Perspectives, Objectives and KPI aspects. It allows you to put all of these in the loader, verify the structure in the loader, and then using Transport to bring into SSM.
There are additional definitions and settings that SSM requires that will have to be added after you Transport the loader's data.
You will still have to build PAS models separately, because the External Data Loader does not build models.
The Transporter tool in SSM allows you to export (and then import) your scorecard metadata from DEV to PROD. Moving between systems is a two-step process, and Transporter is step one. PAS is separate (step two) and you make a dump of the model in your DEV system, take that dump file from the Home directory in DEV and move it to the Home directory in PROD. In the PROD system you create a new PAS model frame and then load that dump into the new framework.
Each SAP customer has a super-administrator that can add users to the SAP Service Marketplace. Find out who your super-admin is and get yourself added to allow you access to those areas on Service Marketplace.

  • Error while browing cube in SSMS but now while executing MDx

    Hi all,
I have a cube and When I browse(in SSMS) I get error while if I write MDX (in SSMS) and execute that, It executes without any error.
This is strange and only happens for one measure group while it does not happen for other.
In first case when I try to slice the count measure by a parent child attribute  (Relationship is Many to many on key column), it throiws me this error and server stops (I have to restart the server) :
The query could not be processed:An error was encountered in the transport layer. The peer prematurely closed the connection.
in second scenario when I slice by a description attribute (relationship is again many 2 many) I get this error :
The query could not be processed:
o File system error: The record ID is incorrect. Physical file:
    \\?\C:\ProgramFiles\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Data
The error doesnot happen if I execute an MDX in SSMS.
Any suggestion(s) what is wrong here ?

    Hi Girija,
Acording to your description, you encounter the error when browsing the cube, right?
It's is not sufficient for us to be able to figure out what is going wrong based on the limited description. Based on my research, some kind of data corruption happened to the database on your machine can cause this issue. In your scenario, please reprocess
the database and check if this issue persists or not. Here are some similar threads for your reference.

Besides, are there any detail error message in the log file? You can troubleshoot this issue by using the Windows Event logs and msmdsrv.log.
You can access Windows Event logs via "Administrative Tools" --> "Event Viewer".  SSAS error messages will appear in the application log.
The msmdsrv.log file for the SSAS instance that can be found in \log folder of the instance. (C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS10.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Log)

  • Window 8.1 / Windows 8.1 Pro compatibility differences connecting to remote SSAS 2005 via SSMS 2014

    Hi,
Should there be a difference of compatibility between Windows 8.1 (laptop A) and Windows 8.1 Pro (laptop B) when connecting to a SSAS instance on a remote 2005 SQL Server via SSMS 2014?
I am able to connect to the SSAS from laptop A without having set any permissions explicitly, or otherwise. While on laptop B it cannot connect, stating"Forcibly Closed by Remote Host" as the error. I have run a SQL Server Profiler trace, laptop A
logs in as Administrator, again no permissions were set explicitly, compared to laptop B that attempts to login as anonymous.
I also tested connecting to the SSAS via Excel 2013 from both laptops. Laptop A connects without issues whereas Laptop B gives an error pertaining to the transport layer.
Why is this happening? What is the problem and how do I go about fixing it?
    Thank you.

By default, SSAS only support windows account. Have you configured the HTTP access to SSAS? If yes, what’s the authentication setting? Can you connect to SSAS via the URL in SSMS? Anyway, just for test purpose, change the authentication to windows Integrated,
disable Anonymous access for the pump

  • After Transporting the request RFC Destination is empty in SWCV and BEA

    Hi All,
we are using SAP NW Mobile 7.1 SP08
After transporting the SWCV & Backend adapter, in the transported system the RFC Destination is empty
Please help me to fix this issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Joseph Beevin.

    Hi,
When an SWCV is trnasported to a another system, the backend destination will be empty in the target system.,We need to configure the bakcned destination in the target sytem through the DOE Adimin.
    DOE_ADmin Portal -->Configuration --->Backend Configuration.
In the backend configuration, select the SWCV for which the destination needs to be configured.Select the parameter "RFC  DESTINATION FOR BACKEND"
When the SWCV is selected all the active Data Objects will be listed in the table below
Insert the above parameter to the parameter list(the table below)
Give the name of the availlable backemnd destination name in the "text value" column of the table for each data object and save it.
Now the backend destination is configured correctly in the target system. Please try this..

  • Transport of org.units and structure

    Hi all
I know there is a possibility to transport org.units and its structure (PPOMA_BBP). There are some settings to do in table T77S0 (key = TRSP.CORR) and 2 reports RHMOVE30 and/or RHMOVE50 to be used depending on the setting done in T77S0.
It is also required to configure ALE distribution model with IDoc type HRMD_A.
My question is: what do I have to include in the filter? What are the relevant info types to be replicated via ALE?
We're on SRM 4.0 with SRM Server 5.0 SP08. We don't have HR module in SAP R/3 in use.
Thanks anyone for some help regarding this one!

  • Problems and question with Transport

    Hi,
I have two questions about transporter tool I cannot solve by myself :
-When Transporting from dev system to quality system, data (result of each KPIs) are also transported. How to avoid that ?
    - When Transporting in Production, How to avoid to overriding data already entered by users ?
    Thanks in advance
    Matt

    Matt-
SSM Transporter is not like BW in that there is no delta option for data. When using the Transporter you will transport all the Entry & Approval data with your metadata. SSM Transporter cannot transport subsets of data, other than those specified in the Transporter list.
I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish here, but assuming that you want to upgrade 7.5 in dev and then move that to prod, here is a suggested sequence.
Upgrade DEV to the new SP and transport your PROD data into DEV for testing. You also have to move PAS models as well to make sure that the structure of the models are the same. The PAS models are where your data is going to be. The Entry & Approval data is also carried in the SSM metadata as mentioned above. So when transporting PROD data into DEV select the Delete all data in database before import -YES.
Figuring that your testing will take some time, probably additional data will be loaded in PROD during that time. When you've completed your testing, you will have to find a weekend or some period to take your SSM PROD system offline. When you do that you take the PROD system offline and Transport the data again, so you capture all current data and transport that into your upgrade DEV system ( In DEV when transporting Delete all data in database before import - YES). So now your DEV system is the same as your PROD. If you want to make any quick tests to verify, it's recommended. When confident they are the same-
Now, upgrade your PROD system to the new SP and when complete you can transport the data from DEV back in. Check your system and if it checks out put PROD back online. This ensures your data matches the current sets.
This is the very shorthand version, you still have to do all the steps of backing up customizations and all the other things that go along with installing SPs as specified in the guides.

  • Transporting Test Catalog Between Systems

    Hi,
I´ve made a test catalog in system A (source System), with a set of test configurations, each one with a different test script with test workbench tool. For the creation of test scripts/configurations I used ecatt tool more sprecific. For the majority of my test scripts I've created 2 parameters with default values.
I can test one script on specific or a set of them in STWB_1 transaction and everything works fine.
Then I want to transport my catalog to another system, System B (destination system), and I've create a transport request in the same transaction (STWB_1 -> Test Catalog ->Transport).
After import, in system B, the catalog looks fine, and seams that everything is ok, but when I test my scripts, some of them end with errors and others don't.
The ones with error, the motive is that the parameters are not being passed to the screen fields, however and we look inside the definition of the scripts, the default values are correct and seams that they were transport correct.
Does anyone knows why this happens?
Is there any problem passing ecatt scripts between different systems?
    Thanks in advance
    Sérgio, Davide e Rui

    Hello Uwe,
we understood your sugestion, but our problem is a little different.
In our Sol Man System we don't have the data we need for our recordings ( our SAP FI is not installed in this system), so, we need to record the scripts in a satellite system, for example IEQ.
Then we want to run the recordings in another system, let's say system IET.
    Project Context:
    IEQ - SAP ERP
    IET - SAP ERP
    SSM - SAP SOLUTION MANAGER
    This is what we did:
    1. we recorded our test script in the solution manager, indicating the target system IEQ, where all our FI transactions exists.
    2. we created a Test Configuration in solution manager, where we call the scripts on target system IET.
When we run the testconfiguration as described, we see that the transaction is running in IEQ and not in IET.
The same happens when we define in a Test Catalog the target system.
Do we need to have all the FI transactions in Solution Manager System,so that we can test them in other target systems??
    Thanks
    Sérgio and Davide

  • Doubled entries after transport

    Hi,
We decided to make some modification in DEV (delete and recreate new KPIs, delete and recreate new metrics sets).
After Transport to QUAL, Some entries are doubled (twice the same KPIs linked to a objective, metric sets doubled...). We checked in DEV and everything is OK. We did again a transport deleting QUAL database before but same results.
Is there any cache or something to delete before transporting ?
The former transport finished correctly. The only difference is that we noticed that users in QUAL are all doubled (2 same entries for each users !!!).
    Thanks
    Matt

    Hello,
I saw in the support case text that you had imported data previously and did not get duplicate metric sets until this last recent import.
After the successful import had any thing changed with user assignments or group changes at all?
One thing to test is to send your Zip file to Support and ask them to import it into a clean test system and see if they see duplicate metric set entries.  That would tell us if the 'duplicate' entries are in the export file or not.
That's probably easier then worrying about deleting and backing up data.
Are all metrics sets duplicated or only new ones that were loaded from the other system?
It's always a good idea to open a new browser session and clear the IE cache, then login to SSM just to be sure the duplicates are not some cached entries.
If you have 'preserve favorites website  data' selected and you have SSM urls saved as favorites, please turn this off.
    Thanks,
    Bill

  • Transporting Metadata from not running system!!!

    Hi all,
I have a serious problem to solve. Our main system stop working in the day of the presentation of a demo   The problem is that when we open the SAP Management Console and we try to start the system, the JSTART.EXE process hangs in the step "Synchronizing binaries".
This is a NetWeaver problem that I don't know how to solve it. I need to export/transport the metadata of the demo to another system, but without a running NetWeaver, I don't have access to the SSM Tools page in order to do that. My question is, how can a export that information in order to put in another system? It's possible to copy the MAXDB database file? What file should I copy (there is several MAXDB files in the harddisk).
    System is running SSM7.5 SP6
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Pedro Costa

    Hi Vijay and Bob,
thanks both for your answer's. Sorry for the late reply, but at home I did not have my log on details...
Because of the urgency of the situation, last Friday we have to take the decision, of reverting the server the the last made backup, that did not have all the work we made for the demo. So it was a long weekend redoing everything. At least now it's done and the SSM/NetWeaver it's working again.
Going back to the problem, we are using MAX DB as our system database.
Vijay, where can I check that setting of the MAXDB cache?
This is not related with the NW license, we are not using a trial
PS: This is not the first time this happens. The first time we work with SAP Support, but after some days without real help, we us the "solution" of the backup again. At that time, they say the probem with was probably caused by a memory setting, but I change that as they suggest, and on last Friday it happens again...

  • Import error in Transporter

    Hi
I Tried to import a zip.file in my QA environment from dev (export was successful).
I have an error when importing. Do you where to locate the log file indicated in the error message. I don't know where to search on the server .
    Thanks
    Anthony

    Anthony,
What SSM version are you on? And are both DEV and QA at the same SP level?  An important thing to remember is that the either the bootstrap.zip or import.zip files you transport into SSM have to be the ones that are matched with the SP level. In other words, you couldn't transport a SP5 import.zip file into a system that is at SP6.
The Default Trace log file is <drive>\usr\SAP\<Netweaver 3 letter instance name, like default CE1>\J00\j2ee\cluster\server0\log
the file you want to look at will be the one with the most recent Date Modified time.
The HOME directory is where the transport files will reside after successfully being deployed and this path is slightly different depending on whether you are using SSM 7.0 or SSM 7.5 - the path below is for SSM 7.5
    <drive>\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Strategy Management\Application Server\home
For others reading this, when transporting into SSM you have two choices, import.zip and bootstrap.zip. The difference between these two zip files is that IMPORT brings with it the sample data and BOOTSTRAP does not. Because that is the only difference, you do NOT have to load both, only one or the other.

  • Package Links and APPSET transports

    We are on BPC NW7.5 SP08 - I have a quick question -
If I create a local package link in my Prod environment (unique name to Prod only) in APPSET "A", would that be deleted by a transport of APPSET "A" from our Dev environment?   I know that reports and input schedules are not, but how about package links?
I ask this because package links for loading master data hierarchies from BW InfoObjects do not transport well beacuse the the generated upper node of the hierachy will be unique in each environment.
    Mitchell

    Hi,
I dont think it would get deleted. As you have a uique name for the package link in your prod, please go ahead and create your trnsport, it would not be deleted.
A PLINK would get overwritten if you have the plink with the same name.
    Thanks,
    Sreeni
