Trend-Micro NSC Firefox extension is incompatible with Firefox 10

When I open the add-ons screen for Firefox 10, I get a faded out message that Trend-Micro NSC Firefox extension is incompatible with Firefox 10. I've contacted Trend Micro about updates and they said that it would be a few weeks before they release an updated version. Why do you release and force updates when important extensions are not ready?

Firefox is on a time based release cycle, every 6 weeks we release a new version (more or less a few days). There are over 6,000 extensions available for Firefox, almost all of them from third-party developers. When Firefox switched to a new release cycle back in the beginning of 2011, all of those extension developers we notified of the change and how it would impact them. Some of them choose not to mark their software as compatible until it work for them. If Firefox were to wait until even 80% of the extensions were marked as compatible, there would never be an update. The responsibility to update add-ons is on the extension developer. Unfortunately, some choose to wait :/
Now, all that said, Mozilla does want to ease the pain of upgrades, so there are lots of ways we are working to improve the update process. negotiating the screen changes just to ask a simple question took me through 9 screen changes already!!! why the "screen testing"? I am not trying to get a part in a movie. NOTE: Firefox 4 and 5 are in the past. Firefox 6 is the current version. Beginning with Firefox 5, the prior version is "abandoned" and will receive no more security or stability updates. The security and stability updates are included in the new version that follows.
As for the screens, the developers of the Firefox help system/forum/knowlegebase are trying to make the system as user-friendly as possible and the work is an on-going process. You are presented with possible posts that match your question so that the few unpaid volunteers here are not excessively over-burdened with questions that have previously been asked and answered. We receive more questions than the few volunteers willing to devote their time to this forum can answer. The search functions on this forum are recognized as "lacking" in many respects and are currently under serious review and re-development. The Trend Micro NSC extension 6.5.0.1234 I installed, shows incompatable, on Firefox 6.0.2 and disabled? How do I fix this problem? .2

The Trend Micro software runs and takes updates, but it does not pick up any viruses. I looked under troubleshooting and it shows the extension is disabled. I am concerned that my computer is open to damage from malicious software. I am looking for a patch or update to enable the Trend Micro software.

I assume you're referring to the Add-On Compatibility Checker disabling your extensions when you update?
To disable Add-On Compatibility Checking you can follow the following steps:
1) Enter "about:config" into the URL bar (no quotes)
2) Right click and create a New Boolean
3) Name it: extensions.checkCompatibility
4) Set it to: False
You can now restart Firefox and it will no longer disable your addons.
Keep in mind that without the Compatibility Checker Firefox can't guarantee that your extensions will work with the latest versions.

Acrobat X plugin incompatible with Firefox 7.0.1

Firefox 7.0.1 plugin manager reports that "Adobe Acrobat-Create PDF 1.1" is incompatible with Firefox. And, indeed, there is no Acrobat Toolbar visible on the main browser window. Is that so, and why?

No it won't.
The problem is not with Adobe, but with Mozilla. They automatically disable extensions until the developer certifies it is compatible with the new version, and in the case of binary XPCOM extensions such as the Acrobat Create PDF toolbar, it has to be recompiled from scratch for every major release of Firefox as the version number is coded into the headers. Even if you disable Firefox's compatibility checking, it won't run.
With Mozilla's new rapid update policy, Adobe cannot possibly keep updating Acrobat every time Mozilla push a new version, and developers are not allowed to fake the compatibility header to refer to a future build. Each time Adobe do push an update to Acrobat (via the quarterly schedule) it can be expected to come with an extension compatible with whatever current (RTM) version of Firefox exists at the time that update code was developed. Given Adobe and Mozilla have wildly-different schedules, until Mozilla drop their rules on recompiling XPCOM the extension may be killed again in a matter of days, and there's nothing we can do to stop it.

ThinkVantage Password Manager incompatible with Firefox 7.0.1

I've updated my Firefox to 7.0.1 and have noted the greyed out message within the FFox add-ons that the ThinkVantage Password Manager is incompatible with Firefox 7.0.1 I have search for a fix or patch from Lenovo that address this issue with this version of FFox but have not found any solutions. Does anyone have an ear to a possible solution? Thanks!

If you are using FF8.0 and it is not working after the patch is installed.
To the following steps:
Disable password manager extension from FF,
And find the file "tvtpwm_jstypes.xpi" and drag it into FF to reinstall the extension.
This file is usually in folder, "c:\swtools\css83_firefox5_patch"

When reinstalling Firefox from a download, Firefox must be down once the installation starts. When the installation finishes, don't let the install start firefox for you. Instead end the install and start Firefox in your normal manner, thus preventing creating a new profile which does not have your bookmarks cookies, etc (but your old profile would still be around and would).
Research your extensions, some may have updates, some may be found in the developer comments on the add-on, or on the "View all versions" link which is part of the Release notes at the bottom of the add-on page.

Why is Norton 360 toolbar disabled and incompatible with Firefox?

I recently switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox 26 - I have the most recent updates for both products, but my Norton toolbar will not enable - the add-on extension states it is incompatible with Firefox, even though the Norton site claims it is compatible. The Norton Vulnerability Protection was also disabled, but after checking for updates in the toolbox, it was enabled. Is my Norton working while browsing in Firefox, and when will my Norton toolbar be available?

How can I remove a Disabled Extension not compatible with Firefox 4.0.1? I just want to remove it... I don't want to wait for a compatible update. Why can't I remove it?

When I upgraded from 3.XX to 4.0.1, it informed me that 2 extensions were not compatible and it never gave me the option to remove them. Firefox 4.0.1 disabled them and now I'm not able to remove them.
Also they were added by Acrobat Pro X (Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.0) and Nokia Ovi Suite (Firefox Synchronisation Extension 7.3.4.51).
These extensions won't probably be updated unless they update the software that installed them. With this said, How can I remove the disabled extensions? Why it doesn't give me a button to remove them to start with?

I think it's not the problem of compatibility. Extensions installed into Windows registry won't have a remove button ( or it's greyed out ). For these extensions, you can have a look into these keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
If you are under a 64bit OS as I am, you may also try this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
And you may find the registry entries corresponding to the extensions you want to remove. Just export them to a backup.reg, then delete these entries. Firefox will do the rest, but it seems that fx still leaves extensions.rdf untouched. You can also delete the RDF entries corresponding to those extensions inside extensions.rdf

BUT the Wow6432Node key wasn't mentioned in the above article
I had to search the registry to find out the entry corresponding to a Fiddler2 extension, then I found the Wow6432Node key. I also saw the Nokia Ovi Suite entry beside the Fiddler2 entry.
