Treo upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 via Mac

I bought a Treo 750 (AT&T) which is loaded with WM5.0. I want to upgrade to 6.0. I already have Marskspace's sync program for my old smartphone and will upgrade it to the latest version today. Is it possible to upgrade my Treo on my Mac? Or do I need to upgrade the device via a PC?
I run the latest Leopard.

Hello everyone. I apologize for reusing this very old post but I got my hands on an old Palm Treo 750 with Windows Mobile 6 working properly but I could by no way get it synchronized via usb with my Windows 7 laptop. I tried the suggested solution but still I get the Device not recognized from the windows installer- Colud you please somehow help me? Many thanks

Palm Pre Tethering to Windows Mobile Device via Dialup Network or USB

I've got a Windows Mobile device that I tethered to the Internet via Dialup Network on my old Verizon phone, and would like to use the Palm Pre for that same purpose. The Windows device does not have wi-fi, so that's not an option, but maybe tethering through USB might work.
Does anyone have any experience with this and can give me some direction on setting it up? Thanks!

Treo Pro (Sprint) & Windows Mobile 6.5 Upgrade

I haven't been able to find any recent posts regarding the possibility of being able to upgrade the Palm Treo Pro from WM 6.1 to 6.5. It's not showing up in the device list on Microsoft's website (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/devices/devices.mspx). Can anyone at Palm confirm whether it's coming or not?

The general wisdom is that Microsoft is not planning to offer WinMo 6.5 as an upgrade, only on new devices. However, there might be some exceptions; we don't really know yet. As for whether Palm/Microsoft will make 6.5 available for the Treo Pro, that has been asked here in the past and I don't think there is any official position on that question. (You know, "no comment on unreleased products" etc.)
Because Windows is in ROM, I don't think you can run a beta version of it on your Treo. Perhaps there is an emulator?

Upgrade from Windows version to a Mac Version?

All,
I started on Director over 10 years ago but it all died off.
Seems it has rekindled a bit with version 12?
My license (still have the box, CD's and license keys) are for Windows.
If/When I upgrade, can I specify a MAC license so I can develop for the iPad?
Or are you going to make me buy a full version?

Accessing windows shared printer via mac over wireless

So i want to share my deskjet 812c thats attached to my pc and be able to print via my MBP over wireless. I simply shared teh printer in windows, but have yet been able to figure it out, or to get it to work. It seems that the MBP will not see the printer, so any advice or any walk throughs would be appreciated.

To connect to a shared Windows printer, open the Printer Setup Utility and click More Printers. For the new window, click the drop-down and select Windows Printing and then Network Neighborhood. The workgroup name that has been configured in the Windows computer should display. Double-click the workgroup name and then select the computer name from the new list. A new window will appear asking you to enter your Windows account name and password. Enter these details and click OK. Select the printer share name from the list and then for the Printer Model, browse to HP and then to the Deskjet 812C. If this model is not listed, download a copy of Gutenprint 5.0.0 for Mac OS X (http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3). This has the 812C which you can use for network printing. With the 812C selected, click Add.
Note that if you are not prompted to authenticate to the Windows computer, then this can impact your ability to connect to shares, especially on XP SP2. You will need to either enable the Guest account or create an account on the Windows computer for the MacBook.

Solved it by deleting the user and creating a new one with the same userID.
Maybe it occured because I marked the "user has to change password after first login" box when resetting the password but didn't yet allow him to do so in the webpages menu?!?

Syncing a Windows Mobile OS Smartphone to the Macbook Pro

Hi,
I'm weary to buy the iPhone for a number of reasons I'm looking into the Samsung Blackjack.
I know the MissingSync is a decent program designed to sync Windows Mobile devices with Macs but I'm wondering how well does it work?
The most important feature for me would be syncing phone emails to my Apple Mail program - is that possible?
What do you guys use to sync phones with computers? How well does it work?

looks like everyone has problems!
You would come to the same conclusion when you look at the apple forums. Rule of thumb: Do not use support to guage the status of a product unless you feel good about making a statement about health care by going to the emergency room after a accident.

Is symbian or windows mobile better to access mac shares via vpn?

I am considering a smart phone purchase in the next few months, and I would like to be able to browse my server via vpn from the phone the same way I can with my Palm LifeDrive. I think Symbian or Windows Mobile are my best OS choices for a phone, and I was wondering if anyone has actual experience with this. Do they use PPTP or L2TP? At this point, the iPhone cannot edit documents, so it is not a consideration, but I am also curious if it allows for this type of remote browsing through a VPN.

I have done some more testing and oddly enough I can map a drive if I use the IPaddress, but not the computer name, when checking the check box "connect using different credentials"and providing they users domain credentials.
This seems to point to a DNS issue, one would think, but I can hit the file share server by name \\fileserver.dev.lan
I can see all the shares, so dns seems to be fine right?
So I don't understand why I can map a drive using do the IPaddress and not the machine name, but yet I can see and ping the server by name?
When I try to create a mapped drive by machine name I receive the following message:
Windows cannot access \\fileserver.dev.lan\all
You do not have permissions to access \\fileserver.dev.lan. contact your network administrator to request access.
But if I use the \\x.x.x.x\all using the very same user and password I get connected with no problem.
This only seems to happen on windows 8.1, which leads me to think that has something to do with OS.
I am thinking about upgrading to windows 8.1 pro, but I don't want to go though the hassle and expanse is the OS is not the problem.

First of all, are you using a Windows Phone (windows phone 7 or 7.5) or a Windows Mobile (6.1, 6.5) phone?
Windows Mobile phones are generally not compatible with macs for USB internet tethering. They do work OK by sharing via Bluetooth or Wifi.

I recently upgraded the Operating system to Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
To access personal Email I select Start and Internet Explorer. My homepage is: http://home.mobile.msn.com
I select Hotmail and my Inbox opens listing my Emails. The address is http://mobile.live.com/hm/folder
After I open one of the Email messages I see the text. I select view header and I get: This message contains attachments followed by the file name (ie: filesname.doc) I cannot click on the filename. How do I open / view the attachments?

HI, I bought a used Treo 750 adn on it i am able to use Msn and therefore get my hotmail BUT am unable o brosw thorugh IE or send/recive MMS. Tried browisng and MMSing on other set it works. So my Cellualr agent told me to get the software re installed I mean Updated version of Windows . Mine has windows 5.0. So where do i get this newwer version? Do i just downlaod from teh internet ?can you pls guie since you have already installed it.

Send file via bluetooth to windows mobile?

I just got a T-Mobile Dash (made by HTC) running Windows Mobile 5. I can pair it with my iMac G5 (OS X 10.4.10).
With Bluetooth File Exchange 1.7.14, I can send a file from the handheld to the iMac, but not from the iMac to the handheld. I get an error message saying "Device does not have the necessary services". Also, I can't get Missing Sync to work by Bluetooth (although it works fine by USB).
Any suggestions?

Hello!I'm trying to set a DAQ system up to send files to a virtual server (both physical server and virtual servers running 2012 R2, Hyper-V as the hypervisor). Currently, the DAQ is able to send to a physical Server 2003 server via FileZilla server. However, that server is well beyond EoL and is being phased out. With Passive Mode disabled, I get the error "You appear to be behind a NAT router. Please configure the passive mode settings and forward a range of ports in your router." So, I've configured passive mode with the External Server IP Address as x.x.x.16 (the physical server) with the port range 20-21. Under these settings, the error goes away, but I am still unable to transfer data. The the firewall is currently off on the physical server for other reasons, but enabled on the virtual server. Well if there is a EFI block, then running a program in OS X isn't going to do a lick of good.
After all EFI was designed for Trusted Computing and Digital Rights Management, to act between the OS and hardware, can read drives, contact the Internet and everything.
Windows doesn't use EFI, will have UEFI in Windows 8 though.
