TREX - Error importing index

hi,
we upgraded our TREX 6.1 to 7.0 on a new server. The index export worked fine but when we want to import the index files with the import61-70 python script there is an error showing:
[2009-02-04 13:35:31] : Starting import on 7.0 system

I didnu00B4t find any logs i.e. a better description of the error than this one.
I also dinu00B4t find a sapnote relating to this.
Are there any more logs for the import?
Edit:
I found this in TrexQueueServerAlter.trc

I solved the problem myself.
I granted everyone full rights to the temp directory while importing the indexes.
It finished without any problems.

  • Trex error: No embedded object found in document (Errorcode 14037)

    Hi,
we have following problem with our crawler:
in the crawler 50 % of documents are returning the error "No embedded object found in document (Errorcode 14037)" and are not displayed in the trex monitor. All other documents are indexed correctly an are in the trex monitor in "OK".
We are on Stack 14 Patch 4.
    Regards,
    Gerhard

    Hi Gerhard,
Typically, errors codes 14XXX are related to filter problems during the preprocessing of documents. Details about TREX error codes are explained in the help portal and in the note 898404.
Unfortunatelly, filter problems could not be easily fixed. However, a good starting point would be to use a newer TREX release. If this doesnt help please open a Customer Message and attach documents, which causes the mentioned error. Please attach only not sensible documents!
    Kind regards,
    Roland

  • There are too many TREX Errors

    Hello Experts,
I have created an Index for a specific folder in KM.
Under KM--> Sys Conf --> KM --> Index Administration it shows the green led, which I believe that the data sources are completely indexed. But, under the KM--> Monitoring > KM> Indexing Monitor , it says:
Status = red led (There are too many TREX errors)
    Status = Active
    In Process = 142678
    Indexed = 51345
    Errors = 10849
And, when I opened the list of errors there are many Crawler and Trex: Preparation failed: index operation
Can you suggest, what's the mistake that I am doing or do I have to any additional configurations for the index that I have created??
    Thanks,
    Raghava

    Hi Raghava,
as I said, "Preparation Failed" may be (if I recall correctly) as early as the HTTP request to even get the document for indexing. If this is not possible for TREX, then of course the indexing fails.
What I suggested was a manual reproduction. So log on to the TREX host (preferrably with the user that TREX uses to access the documents) and then simply try to open one of the docs with the "failed" status by pasting its address in the browser. If this does not work, you have a pretty good idea what's happening.
Unfortunately, if that were the case, this would the be some issue in network communications or ticketing and authorizatuions, which I can not tell you from here how to solve.
In any case, I would advise to open a support message to SAP - probably rather under the portal component than under TREX, as I do not assume that this stage of a queue error has anything to do with the actual engine.
    Best,
    Karsten

    Hello Raghava,
It's impossible to say from the provided information what is causing some of your documents to fail, you need to check in the TREX monitor for errorcodes etc.
Have a look at the below wiki link as a starting point:

  • TREX unable to index only some files

    Hi All!
I've got problem with my TREX (6.1 SP14 running on portal maschine SAP EP 6.0 SP14).
I've created some repositories, physically residing on that server's filesystem. It's an WebDAV repository and two CM (FSDB and DBFS).
    Created an Index.
It indexes those repositories, and after that I see, that it can't index content of some files, while normally indexes others. It can't index *.doc, *.xls, *.pdf, *.ppt. It normally indexes *.txt, *.zip and folders.
In application log (in portal) I can see, that error code is 401 (6401), 'not authorized'.
If I open (for example) some *.doc file properties and try to access 'Settings'>'Classification', I recieve an error:
"<i>An error occurred during classificationError while classifying resource /FSDB_local/testdocFSDB.doc for taxonomy localfiles_tax.com.sapportals.wcm.WcmException: HTTP Status Code 401: Unauthorized (Errorcode 6401)</i>".
    In IIS log there is:
    "<i>2006-01-26 17:51:01 W3SVC1 10.2.1.67 PROPFIND /localfiles/EPtest/Logging.doc - 80 GMCS\MYUSER 10.x.x.x SAPCMWebDAVRepository1.1 $Version=0;+MYSAPSSO2=AjExMDAgABJwb3J0YWw6 207 0 0</i>"
In security log of windows system I can only see 'successful' events like :
    "<i>Event Type:     Success Audit

    What could it be?
All permissions (on portal side and on filesystem) are the same for all files.
Thanks in advance for help and support!

I have a similar issue with a web repository.
I have an alternative URL set in the URL generator and I also do not have a locked index_service user (password is also reset) but I am getting the same 401 (6401 TREX error) problems as others.
Anybody know how to solve this problem?
How does TREX authenticate with the portal using the index_service user? How does TREX know what credentials to use? If it is ticket based authentication, how is this ticket set in the TREX system?
    Thanks,
    Tom

I'm building a website in dreamweaver cs5 with a XML doctype. When I tried to validate my css I got an error code I don't understand. • TREX is not indexing certain excel files

    Hi Experts,
TREX is not indexing certain excel-files correctly. I get a "no message found error" (14047) Trex: Preparation failed: index operation by certain excel files - but not by all. I found out what they have in common: some have filters activated and some have a lot of columns or rows.
Is there any way to avoid these errors and index them correctly?

  • Trex: Preparation failed: index operation

    Hi gurus,
We have a Trex 7.0 server working on a seperate server. When I look at Index Administration, the statuses of the indexes are all green. But when i look at the indexing monitor, one of our indexes is in red status, It says Indexed:13342, Errors: 15610.
When I click on the Errors link, It says: "Trex: Preparation failed: index operation".
I searched the trace files but couldn't find sthg useful.
    Any suggesstions?
    Tolga

    Hi Tolga,
please check your installation with the information mentioned by Jochen Goeeninger (long post) in the following thread Trex HTTP Server not seen in Portal
Furthermore try to open one of the documents you are trying to index via HTTP from the TREX Server.
With the result of that, I would suggest to open support message under http://service.sap.com/message
    Hope this helps,

  • Trex failing to index word docs in FS repository

    Hi,
I am having errors while indexing a FS repository.
The errors in TREX monitor are
return message:Content-Length -vs- Actual Read mismatch
    return code:8030
    Document Status: Preparation Failed
I tried reindexing these failed entries, but did not work out.
All of these are word docs. Moreover Crawler errors for
folders are also visible in the errors list.
Looking into the TREX trace , was able to get the follwing.
HTTP-GET failed for URL <............>with Errorcode -30 , but HTTP-HEAD worked, trying again,
Mimetype application/msword is not based on TEXT, but was detected as text type; content might be corrupted and will be ignored
When I tried opening some of these docs from Windows,
I did not have access to the same itself and got an error. Would this also be the case for the index_service user?
Also not all docs which are visible on the Windows side are visible from the portal in the KM nav iview.
    Platform :EP 7.0 SP13, TREX 7.0
    Any help would be appreciated
    Rgds

    Hello,
A problem related to the search for this FS repository is that search takes a very long time to display results.
The datasource is quite big with nearly 90,000 docs and the index is supposed to index external links too with
indexContentOfExternalLink, indexContentOfExternalLink properties set also. The search scope is based on Indexes in the search iview .
When a normal user who has the relevant role for the searh iview runs a search it takes a very long time, nearly 30 min!!
But if a super admin runs the same , it comes up with results immediately.
Is this some kind of authorisation issue. The index is having everyone full control and I was not able to see any thing much in the default trace too.
Is there any particular trace/log file to be checked for this?Has something been missed out in the index creation process?
Hope someone can comment on this
    Rgds

  • How to Fix TREX Errors

I am using EP 7.0 SP15.  I have created an index to Search the WPC Content.  The properties for the index are as follows:
    ID:  wpcIndex_DEV
    Name: wpcIndex
    Group: none set
    Crawler Parameters: standard
    Active: checked
    Service:Trex Search
    Service Type: Search
    Items to Index: All
    fuzziness: 0.7
    Data Sources:  root>Web Content
When I look at the Index Monitoring I see:
Status: red (There are too many TREX Errors)
    Index: wpcIndex_DEV
    Status: Idle
    InProcess:0
    Indexed: 492
    Errors: 109
All 109 Errors state the same Error Type: "Trex: Preparation failed: index operation"
I have found alot of documentation on how to set up TREX Indexes or how to check them but nothing on how to fix the errors.  Can someone please point me in the right direction for getting this index to process correctly?

    Hi TA
What version of WPC are you running?
In the older versions of WPC the internal links are hardcoded (thus not using the correct URL from the URL generator service). Try to republish the WPC pages and see if that doesn't solve the problem.
You also did not set up the index according to the documentation:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/45/e58d6e146d5591e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm
Remember both the crawler, and the custom property.

    Martin Søgaard

  • Crashing mdworker[9141]: (Error) Import: Importer force killed!

    Xserver - Dual 2.3 GHz PowerPC G5 - Running 10.5.6
Machine keeps on crashing every three or four hours - regardless of whether there is one client connection or 30.
Machine hangs and has to be restarted manually.
    Console reports (about every minute):
+"mdworker[9141]: (Error) Import: Importer force killed!"+
Was crashing on the same basis with 10.5.5 and 10.5.4 - but was restarting itself and causing only a minor disruption.
Anyone experiencing same thing - found a resolution ? ?

Have a look at the system.log in the Console, which should give more information as to what mdworker is working on that causes it to crash.
I suspect that you may have some corrupt files in your (non-server, user) files/data
    that is causing a problem.
For example, I have seen files that were migrated off (an older machine that had had the data migrated off) an older Mac that at some point was left running with a bad PRAM batter and a wildly incorrect date - something preceding the advent of computers as we know them (Desktop computers, etc.) - cause Spotlight to crash when attempting to index said files.

iTunes 10.6, running on a Mac Mini with OSX 10.6.8
    Hi all,
A bit of backstory. Been using iTunes to manage my music collection for over 8 years. At one point, I moved my music off of a primary disk to an external disk, although perhaps oddly set up, in that the 'iTunes Music Library.xml' file was still local (under ~User/Music), and just the music files were external (under /Volumes/Media/Music).  When the iTunes Media directory structure upgrade happened, the only way I could access my music was to put a soft link from the Music folder to my external drive.
For awhile now, I've been in a state where for the most part, I can listen to all of my music, but when I try to import a CD, I get the 'required folder cannot be found' error.
Help!  Do I have to rebuild my file somehow?  Edit the xml file directly?
    Thanks so much.
I'm happy to provide more information, such as the xml file, directory listings, etc..  I'm just not sure what's helpful.

I have the same problem.  I recently moved my music from a Vista PC to a new Laptop with an external CD drive. It will copy one song from the CD and it will show in the Music file and then I get the message ' Error importing a CD - Folder not found'.  I must unplug the CD drive and plug it back in.  I have seen no fix for this problem.
