TREX indexing encrypted files

Hello,
In the context of an upgrade of e-recruiting (from 3.0 to 6.0) we installed a new Trex (release 7.10).
I recreated all indexes and I have problems with two files.
This files are uploaded by applicant and they are encrypted.
I have errors into the preprocessing because this files are encrypted.
In this moment I have two questions :
a) How can I index this two files ?
b) How can I decide into my ABAP server (e-recruiting) that I don't want to index this files ?
Thanks for your help
Dominique

Hi Paulo,
TREX indexes the file name and the content of the file for all files, including Excel files. I have come across several different issues with TREX not being able to index certain Excel files due to filter bugs. Check TREX 7.10 central Note 1021162 for a listing of the different revs.
Are you having issues trying to index a file? If so, what error are you getting?
Thanks!

  • TREX not indexing Excel files

    Hi all,
We are getting the following error when trying to index some MS Excel files:
14011 - Filter: The file is password protected or encrypted
We are using TREX 7.10 rev 34.
We have found that the cause of this is when the Excel file has been set to protect the worksheet with a password (in Excel, go to Tools -> Protection -> Protect Workbook -> set password). It seems odd to me that TREX cannot index a file like this because it should be able to open it. I would think that it only would have problems if it were trying to write to the file (which it is not trying to do).
Does anyone have any ideas as to why it's like this or what can we do about this other than remove the workbook password? We have dozens of files like this, and I need to find a solution other than removing the password.
    Thanks!

    Hi Stephen,
I couldn't find any release note specific to this issue however I do know that there are newer filter versions available in the most recent TREX revisions so the upgrade is usually a good option to resolve such issues. Of course I cannot say for certain if Revision 39 will resolve it without trying to index your specific document on that version myself.
Anyway I know there are some Oracle filter issues ongoing with TREX 7.1 so I think an upgrade to a newer revision may be inevitable at some stage, but  perhaps in this scenario it would be best to wait for confirmation of the exact revision that contains the fix from the TREX experts in your message.
    Kind regards,
    Lorcan.

  • Where are TREX index stored? TREX server File system? or KM repository?

    hi, friends:
can  someone tell me where are TREX index stored ?
    in TREX server file system?
or in portal KM repository? file system or DB?
    thank you
    Carol

    Carol,
TREX is a separate product. During installation and configuration of TREX you connect it to the portal. The search iViews of the portal will use the configured TREX server to do the actual search:

  • The location of the TREX index file?

    Experts:
Would you please help tell us where is the TREX index file located and is it a TEXT file?
    Thanks!

    Hello Ashley,
on our System (Unix server, trex only) the index files can be found at \usr\sap\ET0\TRX00\...   Numbers dependet on the actual instance number. And itu00B4s probably a little more complicated than "one" Text file...
    maybe this helps,

  • TREX Indexing issue. Form based publishing XML files.

In order to test my TREX indexing functionality, I have created a lot of test XML files (with form based publishing) containg test words.
What I experiments is that TREX only index the words that is presented on the 'Show' form of the xml document. The template created in the XML Forms Builder that is used to present the document. But thing is, that I only want to index the words from the XML source file, not from the 'Show' form template. Because on that i only have a static label with constant text.
How do I set TREX to index the source XML file and not the show form template representation of the file?

    Hi Flemming,
this works as designed. If you want index the whole XML data, you have to store your XMLForms items in a repository on which no "XMLFormsResourceFilter" is defined.
But if you do that, all the items are rendered as XML and not as HTML. So the SearchResult only gives you links pointing to XML files.
The only way to index more informations (from my point of view) is to store your additional information into ResourceProperties (you have to design your XMLFormsProject). These properties can be found by the search, if they are set to "indexable=yes".
    Hope this helps

  • TREX indexing from content server(maxdb)

    Hello.
I've installed standalone TREX on Linux, configured the connection to R3 system and to Portal as well. On the R3 I have configured connection to the SAP Content serve(via archive link) where we save some documents(pdf, doc. files). The part which I don't understand is how can I configure the repository of the content server as a source for the Trex index?
Any hint would be useful. Thanks in advance.
    Vit

    Hi,
the question is what exactly do you wanna do?
Integrating a archivelink in the Portal or indexing the documents via ERP?
In the first case you must create a web repository and define an index.
In the other case it depends on the SAP Solution but mostly you have to customize the SM59, SRMO, SKPR06.

    hi,
You can write an adapter module to encypt your payload before sending to Reciever:

  • Portal Search Not Working - Only Returns Portal Content, Not TREX Indexes

I have configured two indexes using the portal.  One is for documents that reside on the portal, and the other one is for a website that we have configured in TREX using Cruiser.  The TREX Admin console shows that the website information has been indexed.  However, when I search on a word in Portal, only the portal contents are displayed.  Is there a different search field for looking up TREX/indexed files?  I'm using the search field that's on the front page of the portal.  Also, both indexes belong to the same index group.  I did use the serach feature built-in to TREX Admin to verify that there were documents stored in the index.

    Hi there,
I just read this thread, and maybe someone here can answer my current trex question:
I have created an ordinary CM repository, and created an index with this repository as source. Now the problem: I would like to exclude files in the repository with specific mimetypes from the TREX indexing process.
I have verified that the TrexValidMimetypes.ini does not contain any reference to the Mimetypes I'm creating, but never the less, the document titles are searchable and are returned when searching.
How do I get around this issue?
Is it possible in NW04 or EP6.0 SP3 PXXX??

  • Not able to index pdf files (Knowledge Management)

    Hello experts,
Please your help to resolve the next issue. I have configured a KM repository and almost everything is working fine except for the document search. At this moment I'm able to upload and search text files without any problem. But the problem starts when I try to find a pdf file previously uploaded. It seems that KM is not indexing those files.
This is our TREX version 7.00.25.00 Build: 700.25.103353
I have found some references in internet about how this issue could might be  resolved  but neither of them have worked for me.
    - Repository configuration (https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1046846 )
According to this link the problem could be resolved with a correct Repository Configuration but unfortunately their solution is too general and it is not clear enough for a begginer as myself.
    - Excluding File Formats for Processing
According to the SAP Documentation It is possible to control which file formats are to be processed by TREX through the TREXValidMimeTypes.ini file. I checked the file and the pdf files are included in the list of files to be processed.
    Any help is appreciated

  • TREX Indexing

    Hi everyone!
Does anyone ever experienced problems with TREX indexing after installing SES?
In my project i've just setup SES and strangly Attached files are still being indexed on the old index queues and when i search for the content of the files using the TRM search it doesn't return the expected results.
    Many thanks.

    Hi Reddy,
TREX Queue maintains both index and deindex call entires.
Since you have deleted the ABC folder with 10 documents, it also has the deindex count of 10 .
This is the reason why you have 22 indexed documents plus the previous 10 deindexed documents.
You can check this by display queue entries and check for all synchronized documents.
    Regards,
    Srini

  • TREX: indexing problem

    Hi,
I'm trying to configure TREX in our portal. I've created an index (search index) and I've assigned data to index (html files and pdf files).
When I test the indexing process in the TREX Monitor, I always see that some pdf files aren't indexed. I assign them to index again and again, but they aren't indexed. I get "Preparation Failed" for these documents and the indexing process doesn't continue (it seems that it stops).
What can it be the cause?
    Thanks in advance,
    Samantha.

    Hi,
There is no need to create new repository. You can add that folder as "Data Source" to Index. Then all files and folders under that folder will automatically indexed.
    Please follow the below steps.
    1. Create a new Index.
    2. Add folder (Whatever you created) as "Data Source" to index.
    3. Save data source.
Now you can get all your documents indexed.
Here note one points. You will not get all the documents indexed immidiately. This will depend on your TREX load.
Other wise if you want it immediately flush the particular index.
    1. Logon to portal as Administrator
    2. Navigate to 'System Administrator' -> Monitoring -> Knowledge Management -> Cache Monitor
    3. Note the System ID of you local system from combo box under System ID
    4. Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Service -> System Landscape Definations -> Systems -> Content Management System
    5. Check that the same System ID Should be there. If not there please add it by clicking on button 'New'
    6. Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Service ->Scheduler Tasks -> Index Management Task Queue Reader
    7. Open "IndexServiceTaskQueueReader" for editing
    8. Add the same system ID under "System ID"
I think this will solve your problem

  • Trex optimization for file types

    Hi all.

  • Why did my index.htm file generate blank? and other weirdness.

Here's the story. Maybe someone can tell me where I made my mistake, or what happened. I'm numbering the steps for convenience in discussing this.
    1) I started a new project, a WebHelp project.
    2) I imported content in Word.
    3) I created an index, glossary, and TOC. I used wizards for some of this.
    4) I created a style sheet and applied it to all the topics.
    5) I added a skin from the gallery.
    6) I generated output.
Then I sent that output to the UI developer on my project. He plugged it in to the web app, and it seemed to work fine. So then:
    7) I opened the project, edited the text, and removed glossary links (because I didn't like how they were working) individually.
    8) I generated a new TOC to match the changed topic structure (minor changes).
    9) I generated another output.
I sent that output to the UI developer and he said it was blank. I opened index.htm and sure enough, it was indeed blank. In fact, it was Zero KB. I also noticed that four other files were blank: whfform.htm, whform.js, whskin_plist.htm, and whtbar.js.
So then I decided to start over. I created a new project, imported just the html topic files from the old project, redid the index (in a  hasty and less thorough manner), decided to bail on the glossary for now, did a TOC and sent that to the developer.
Now the Search pane is totally wonky, showing a list of characters and terms.
So I am getting frustrated. The developer has tried monkeying around with stuff on his end, but it's not working. So he says, why don't you send me a build with everything?
The problem is, I have two broken builds. The first one, which for whatever reason has the blank index.htm file (and other blank files), and the second one, which has no glossary, a messy index, and a screwed up search.
I can't seem to find anyone else having this problem. :-/  Can someone help?
    Thanks so much,
    Tamarleigh

I am having the exact same problem, and I think I've figured out what is happening here. There is an issue when mapping Word styles into RH. The person who setup our Word template included a sidehead with conditional text to hide instructor notes when printing participant training manuals. I removed the conditional text, and everything is working fine. You may want to double check to make sure you don't have conditional text in your Word docs. I've uploaded an image with the code below to show how the conditional text looked when the document was linked and generated.
    Check out the code below:
    <table cellspacing="0">
              <tr>
                        <td style="vertical-align: top; padding-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px;

  • Renaming the index.htm file

Folks - I welcome some help on this one!
I'm running RoboHelp 9, and authoring a help system for a dev group whose buildmeister has requested I rename (if possible) RoboHelp's compiled 'index.htm' file to something else, so as not to conflict with another index.htm file that apparently is part of this software build. I'm assuming this can't be done as a simple File Explorer 'rename', but needs to be defined within the project prior to compiling fresh output. However, I can't find a setting for to accomplish this, and, frankly, don't even know if it's necessary (or possible).
    best,
    Lumpy

    Hello again, Lumpy
In looking at this thread the following thought occurs to me. If your developer is wanting you to rename your start page, it likely means that your WebHelp is just plopped in with other content. And if that's the case, I'd have to think things are severely disorganized. Normally the help sits in its own folder that is separate from whatever application it supports.
I know that often developers suffer the God complex and don;t fathom any possibility they are wrong, but it might be worth asking some questions about the arrangement.
    Cheers... Rick
