Tricking iTunes into Thinking a Random Audio File is a Podcast

I have some older audio files that I want to store with my Podcasts. Basically, I am looking for a way to change file codes or creator codes (or somesuch) so that when I drag the file into iTunes, it gets stored with a group of previously existing Podcasts to which I subscribe.
I know that (usually) if I take a Podcast audio file out of iTunes and copy it to my desktop and then delete the original track inside iTunes, I can restore the file to its rightful place in the list of Podcasts simply by dragging the copy that I made back into iTunes.
I am looking to do something similar here, but the files I want to add weren't delivered to me by my Podcast subscription. I got them somewhere else and I just want to add them to the corresponding set of Podcasts in my iTunes.

Try this -> Re-Add Selected Tracks as Podcast v1.2
"This script will re-add the files of the selected tracks to iTunes as if they were a Podcast subscription. The files will then appear in the Podcasts playlist and "behave" as though they are a group of Podcast episodes."

  • Tricking iTunes into thinking an external hard drive is an iPod?  Possible?

    Hi
There is a lot of info out there about using your iPod as a hard drive, but I am wanting to the opposite, namely use my external portable hard drive as an iPod (this says something of my contrary nature).
The reason being that my iTunes library is made up of Apple Lossless files, and I would like to take advantage of the "convert higher bit rate songs to 128kbps" feature in iTunes, but by syncing to a portable external hard drive rather than an iPod.
I am aware that there are various methods of converting all my Apple Lossless files for use on an external hard drive, but none of these (as far as I am aware) synchronize with iTunes (i.e. update tags/ratings in the converted files if changes are made in iTunes). Because I would need this feature, I am wondering if there is a way of tricking iTunes into thinking that my external hard drive is an iPod (here my devious nature comes to the fore), or some other method of achieving what I am looking for?
    Thanks for reading
    Nick

I just need my 128kbps tracks to be updated if changes are made in iTunes, such as tag changes, rating changes, tracks being deleted, new tracks being added.
When you play the ALAC songs or change ratings and such, you want to sync that info to the 128 songs on the external?
And wen you add/remove anything from the internal, you want those to be converted/added to the external?
Absolutely no idea how this could be accomplished.

  • How do I trick iTunes into thinking imported songs are purchased?

MOST of my library is imported, and I really bugs me when when I can't listen to it in the store, only in my library. So I was wondering if there was any way to trick iTunes into think it is.
I am running ios 7.1.1 on an iPod 5 16gb.

Subscribe to iTunes Match.  Every song in your library will be either matched or uploaded.  Then you will be able to listen to all your music from the Cloud.

I'm running logic pro 8.0.2 on Leopard 10.5.8. I've recorded an evening of live music, then cut the recording into songs using one audio file folder ad multiple song files. When working on an individual song, I can't access the sampler.  I get the message "nothing to display" or "no region or audio file selected"  After much research on the web, I believe this is a permanent bug.  Does anyone have a good work-around for this type of work.  We record live 16T band rehearsals constantly and would love to be able to break individual songs out of the large file and be able to use the sampler.  Thanks in advance for your ideas!  Cheers.

Another thing - if I copy one of the tracks to another track, then the sample editor works on the copied track.  I don't want to have to copy 16 tracks to new tracks to be able to use the sample editor on a project.  Thanks again.

  • Vista - how do you make iTunes the default player for audio files?

Having started using iTunes on a new Vista PC, I've found that it defaults back to Windows Media as the default audio file player every time the machine is rebooted.
But worse than that, I cannot find any option to make iTunes the default player for MP3 files - under the Vista settings, the ONLY option offered is Windows Media: there is not even a box to tick for iTunes.
Have others found this? Is there any way around this?
(I thought that Microsoft was legally precluded from making these kind of enforced settings now???)

Although I now seem to have successfully made iTunes the default player for audio files, iTunes has started putting up this message:
"The iTunes Music Library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
A quick scan of the forum shows this problem has come up quite a few times, but I'm far from clear if there is a definitive answer/solution. I am the administrator for the computer. It sounds worrying that the Library file is not being saved - should I be worried?

  • Random audio file playing

Hi!  I've been having random audio files playing on my RAZR.  It sounds like a video that automatically starts playing on websites.  However, I'm not on the browser, have windows open, or even using the phone.  I unlock the phone and there's nothing in the notification bar.  No apps are open on the home screen.
My Alarm Clock Plus app will sometimes play an alarm after I've turned it off.  Because there's nothing in the notification bar to stop the music, I have to shut down my phone to stop it.  This may be an app bug but has anyone had random audio files playing?

        Hi Es80
It sounds like that phone is possessed! Let's get this fixed! It sounds like it may be an application error. Please power the device on in safe mode and retest. Here's how:http://bit.ly/QfA8MZ
Please let me know if the issues persists.

  • Why doesn't iTunes add protected MPEG-4 audio files to its music library?

Why doesn't iTunes add protected MPEG-4 audio files to its music library?  I copied these files to my iMac from an old PC laptop that no longer has internet access.

After downloading via iTunes, I move MP3 files from the default iTunes podcast folder to another folder (on an a external disk), I also change the name of the file and I change some MP3-tags.
You download from the iTunes store, delete the podcast, mess with it, move it around, rename it, change the tags then try to add it back to iTunes?
I want all my files in one index, the iTunes Music Library
In iTunes, right click - get info, click the Options tab and set *Media Kind:* to Music.

  • ITunes Match is deleting my Audio Files, How do I stop this?

I have asked this question before, but have not had time to get into it.
I use Radioshift(A Rogue Amoeba program) to record a few hours of radio everyday.  It sends the audio files to iTunes in a folder named radioshift and into sub-playlists matching each radio station name.  iTunes match will intermittently delete all of these audio files when it goes through its process of upload/download.  It is strange because it won't occur all of the time, but periodically it will wipe all of the files out and this continues for a period of time and then a few days later it leaves them alone.  I have tried moving the files to other playlists and it doesn't help.  I've emailed Apple on the issue and not gotten a response.  Does anyone else have this issue or know how to resolve it?

    Hello @adam100 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
Uninstalling HP Connected Music should do the trick. If it is uninstalled, then you files cannot be displayed as HP Connected Music files.
You can always install it later if you want it

  • HT1296 itunes won't sync my audio files after I upgraded my iphone to i0S 6

I upgraded my phone to iOS 6 for the new features and could no longer play (or find) my audio books.  The disk space usage indicated that the files were still there but the music player would not show or play them.  I try to sync to iTunes Library and it fails.  I upgraded my Mac OS and my iTunes versions to the current version and still no luck.  Incidentally I also notice that when I try to make a purchase of new audio files through iTunes directly from my iphone it also seems to hang up.  Occassionally after a couple reboots it may download but still shows my audio library as being empty.
Not sure where to go from here...any suggestions?

OK, this is weird/interesting . . . just now, syncing my iPad, I noticed that under the Music tab there were no syncing options available, just a message that said "iTunes Matching is on." I'd turned it on yesterday, in the Settings, just messing around trying to troubleshoot the audio file sync issue.
iTunes Matching didn't solve the problem, so I turned it off. Then resynced the iPad again from scratch. THIS TIME everything synced! Every single audio file, every playlist, everything.
So that's odd, right?? I mean, I'm happy that it's working, but I'm not sure why it didn't work to begin with, nor why it's suddenly working now. So it's good, but a little unnerving . . .

  • Audio Files Saved as "Podcast" in iTunes - can no longer listen to them on iOS 7!

Just set up my wife's new iPhone 5, and the way podcasts are handled on this new iOS 7 is terrible!  This "Podcast App" system Apple has going on won't even see my podcast audio files like the older 4th gen devices did.
Remind me NEVER to upgrade my iphone 4 or my Touch to iOs 7 - where Podcasts resided as a subsection of Music.

Sorry: Meant: Upgrade to iO7 FROM ios 6 or earlier, where Podcasts resided within Music.

  • Two iTunes Libraries two types of audio files?

I like to rip my CDs to AIFF for Hi-Fi listening. However, I like to have more storage on my iPod. Can I keep one iTunes library with AIFF files and the other with Apple Lossless for iPod syncing? Both on the same computer.

I hope you don't mind my re-opening this thread.
My initial question was virtually the same for which I am very grateful for having found the answer.
I like to have Apple Lossless audio in iTunes for playing from the computer during the day and it's good to know that I've got the best 'masters' available to convert into any other format as and when required.
My 16GB iPhone isn't big enough to hold my collection in Apple Lossless so I wanted to convert everything to MP3 at 320kbps and sync that with the iPhone BUT without having an entire collection of duplicates sitting in my iTunes.
I played around with an iPhone specific playlist etc but I'd rather not have to think about what I do or don't want all the time.
In line with the advice in the thread I have created a separate iTunes library solely for my iPhone.
Here's my follow-on question: how do I make sure my iPhone ONLY syncs with the MP3 library?

  • Cannot Import some iTunes into FCE - not a standard file?

Trying to import some music into FCE from iTunes.
Browsing window only will highlight certain music as "standard files" and only import those songs. Others are"greyed out" and when I switched the files list to "all files" and try to import then I get error message "1 files recognized 0 files access denied 1 unknown"

Ahhhhhhh! It's starting to make sense now. If the CD was properly formatted as an "Audio CD", the tracks should be recorded at 44.1khz. You can use QuickTime Pro, iTunes, SoundTrack Pro (any several other apps) to convert the tracks from the CD to AIF, 48khz, 16 bit Stereo.
If you use iTunes to do it, make sure you set the encoder to AIF (with the proper settings) in iTunes preferences before you begin.
Note that AIF and AIFF are the same - you may see it listed either way, depending on the app.

  • ITunes treats video's as audio files, won't play video only audio

    Hi,
I have the latest iTunes version & the latest OS X lion updates. Late 2009 27" iMac, intel core duo 2, 3.06 ghz.   Forgive me if this comes across as rude, I'm used to being able to find my own solution to problems, and this has been frustrating me on and off for years.  For as long as iTunes has had music video's and air play available I have the problem of my music videos, movies or video files of any type (all purchased for iTunes store) will only play the audio, no video.  The old work around was to disable 'look for remote speakers' and then the video's would play fine (i googled it again to make sure there wasn't a newer work around).  However that is not an option now, as iTunes automatically looks for airtunes speakers.  The only work around I have found is to disable my network connection in system preferences, then go to iTunes, tell it to try and connect to the remote speakers.  Once it fails to find the speakers, all video files work perfectly. Once the network is re-enabled its a 50-50 shot that the fix will work for a while before the problem returns. I have had this problem in pretty much every version of iTunes sense they released music videos.  It's not a constant problem either, sometimes videos play fine, most of the time they don't without the workaround. (the problem was present in Snow leopard, leopard and I want to say Tiger, but its hard to remember about Tiger.)  I have submitted this problem in the 'submit feedback for iTunes' several times and nothing.  I am hoping one of you smart people out there might have an idea for a permanent fix.  I wanted to send an email to apple support, but they say I must purchase support because my hardware is 'out of warranty' even though its a software problem, so they are no help.  Any help or suggestions you may have are extremely appreciated.
    Thank you,
    AcidBurn003

    Anyone have any suggestions?

  • Can trick iTunes into recognizing iPod, can't download software version1.2

I have learned that the only way I can get iTunes to recognize my 30g 5th gen iPod is to plug the iPod in while Windows is loading. After Windows loads iTunes automatically opens and shows my iPod under devices. The iPod will upgrade, take in any new songs, etc. If I run iPod diagnostics I pass with no problems.
But when I attempt to download the new software version 1.2 I get the same problem so many are complaining about - it doesn't download, iTunes changes and does not show the iPod connection anymore and I just get the new little window with bars that will go across for at least an hour (that is as long as I have let it go.)
If I plug the iPod in after Windows has opened iTunes does not recognize it and when I run the diagnostic I pass everything except "connection status." That fails.
Any ideas out there?????? I have tried all the methods the iTunes and iPod support pages offer and they have not worked.
    Thanks in advance!

Yes, this happened to me too. After about 4 hours total on the phone with tech support, it does appear to be a problem with itunes 7.0 and some PCs. Hopefully itunes 7.0.1 fixes it.
In the meantime, I had to update the ipod firmware from a different computer and if I have the ipod plugged into the computer before I power up, I can sync the music, video, etc 50% of the time.
