Tricky iphone detection in itunes (4s/latest IOS/windows 7)
Try as i might i cannot get my iphone 4s to get recognised by itunes when i plug it in. Laptop is picking it up for data import but not showing in itunes, Ipod mini shows up fine when plugged in. Had issues with dodgy Mcafee firewall/permissioning software which have finally addressed (was killing store connection even though enabled programme in list - so glitchy). Tried reinstalling drivers on the phone but told it has latest, also has most recent IOS, now at the limit of my amateur understanding of all the processes that come into play so suggestions welcome . . . . .
When you upgrade your Windows OS stuff breaks. Even more so if you're using a beta version!
Apple will only support retail versions of Windows.

Do you have the latest FaceBook app version installed?
If so, try a reset which is similar to a computer restart and is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release. -
I was in the middle of using my iPhone 4 running on the latest iOS before iOS 6 and the screen went black but you can see it is still on because the color of the screen is blueish blackish like when your phone is turning off. Any suggestions?
Reset the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer? -

Has anyone had WiFi connectivity issues at home with their iPhone 5 after accepting the recent IOS 8.0.2 update?
Yes, despite being it an iPhone5 (8.0.2) attempting to connect to an Airport Express.
In my case the iPhone "connects" to Airport Express 2nd generation, but no Internet packages are available; Airport Utility shows the Airport Express as not connected to the Internet; but the iMac, MBP, Motorola phone, Samsung Smart TV and HP printer connect without any trouble.
The actual issue is the DHCP :
sometimes the iPhone gets none, and
when an address is assigned it just doesn't work,
even renewing the address won't work all the times,
switching off and on the WiFi won't work all the times neither,
going on Airplane mode, then back won't work all the times.
Solutions attempted and failed:
Reseting and reconfiguring Airport Express;
Reseting iPhone;
Switching off and on the iPhone;
Setup the DHCP renewal for every 5 days;
Meditation and stark visualisation;
Other possible patch not yet attempted : setting fixed IP addresses
All suggestions received resemble Windows' "Plug & Pray"
I gave up after reading several notes around the WWW complaining about it.
Last credible suggestion : wait for 8.0.3 or 8.1, whichever fixes the issue first. -
IPhone recognised by iTunes but not by Windows 8.1
I am having problems following the recent update to iTunes 11.1.5.5. The problems did not exist before the update.
I am operating Windows 8.1 64 bit (with all current updates), The problems are exactly the same with both my iPad and iPhone: both have the current iOS. I am using a genuine lead.
The symptoms are:
* After the update, iTunes would recognise my iPhone OK ('My iPhone'), but Windows Explorer listed no such device. Control Panel/Devices lsited 'USB Input Device', 'Apple Mobile Device USB Driver' and 'Apple Mobile Device Ethernet'. Personal Hotspot shows on the phone OK.
* I have twice tried removing iTunes and all associated programmes, in the order as stipulated by Apple. Neither a reinstall of the current iTunes nor the previous version helped. All items in KB/TS1538 have been tried (twice).
* I have been through the clean-up proceedure both with and without AVG running.
* I have tried connecting the iPhone after removing iTunes and letting Windows handle the driver. Explorer then showed the iPhone OK! But if I then update the driver (extracted from iTunes Mobile Device Support) then Explorer could no longer see the iPhone.
* I have tried an iPhone reset settings.
* I have cleared all the photos and videos from the iPhone.
* I have pointed the iPhone driver at Mobile Device Support\Drivers
Does anyone please have any bright ideas?!AH - you wont believe it. I have been trying to fix this for days but just after posting, I have found the solution!

The device is in recovery mode. Do exactly as the image on the screen suggests, connect it to a computer running iTunes and restore.

Multiple iPhones with 1 iTunes account in iOS 6
I updated my phone to iOS yesterday. When my husband did the same today, his phone is now set up to text using my name and id. It looks like everything he does comes out of my phone. We share my iTunes account and he avoided using iCloud when it came out because it seemed problematic. Are we going to have to set up and iTunes account for him?

Each device will only sync what you select to sync. If your wife does not want an app, then she should not select it to sync.

Again, if she does not select them to sync, then they will not sync.

I've updated my iphone 4 with ios 6 and not only I cannot sync music ratings back to itunes but when I connect my phone, I don't even see the ratings on it (via itunes) any more.
If I disconnect the phone I can see that the ratings are still there..

I have a new Apple ID and I can't change it for my iCloud. It keeps asking me to sign into iCloud with my old email address an it doesn't work because I changed it. What do I do ?
To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Had to uninstall and reinstall firefox several times as something was trying to take it over. The only way I stopped it in the end was to go back to a restore point on my computer. Anyway, before I had this problem I had firefox leave a border down t
