added {noformat}{noformat} tags so the issue can actually be seen

In your SQL, concatenate the columns.
for e.g
select object_id||object_name||owner
from all_objects
You'll always get a space between columns if you spool the output from sqlplus as the defualt column separator is a space. Also, it is generally best to have the columns delimited by a pre-defined character, so that any program that reads the file will know the start and end of a field or column.
If you do want a fixed-length format file, you can use functions like LPAD or RPAD.
e.g.
select RPAD(object_id,10,'0')||RPAD(object_name,20,'N')||RPAD(owner,30,'N')
from all_objects

How to create multiple output files using TrAX?

I am new in this field. I'm trying to create multiple xml output files using TrAX. I have to parse a xml source file and output it to multiple xml files. My problem is that it only creates one output file and puts all the parsed data there. When i use saxon and run xsl and xml files, it works fine and creates multiple files...it has something to do with my java code...Any help is greatly appreciated.

Saxon has specific extensions. In this case it is <xsl:document>. That looks like a standard XSLT element, but it actually isn't. The history behind it is this: There was a proposal to create a new version of XSLT, called XSLT 1.1. One of the new features of this version was to be this xsl:document element. The author of the Saxon product, Michael Kay, is one of the people on the W3C committee directing the evolution of XSLT, so he upgraded his product to implement XSLT 1.1. But then the committee decided to drop XSLT 1.1 as a recommendation. So that left Saxon in the strange position of implementing a non-existent extension to XSLT.
The other outcome of this process was that XSLT (1.0) does not have a way of producing more than one output file from an input file. And so the short answer to your question is "Trax can't do that." However, XSLT 2.0 will be able to do that, although it is not yet a formal W3C recommendation, and when it does become one it will take a while before there are good implementations of it. (I predict that Saxon will be the first good implementation.)
One of the problems with XML and XSLT is that what you knew a year ago is probably obsolete now, because of all the evolution going on. So being new in the field is not a disadvantage, unless you get stung by reading obsolete tutorials or magazine articles.

Printing messages in Log File and Output File using Dbms_output.put_line

Hi,
I have a requirement of printing messages in log file and output file using dbms_output.put_line instead of fnd_file.put_line API.
Please let me know how can I achieve this.
I tried using a function to print messages and calling that function in my main package where ever there is fnd_file.put_line. But this approach is not required by the business.
So let me know how I can achieve this functionality.

You should put your Unix command in the command parameter. "gunzip /yourfilepath/yourfilename" works on my Unix system. Once you determine the proper Unix command, you should be set. This technique is also nice because it provides you with echos back from Unix in table std_lines. For more complex Unix activity, you may want to consider throwing together a Unix script, and calling that via this code.

Whitespaces in prototype-file used by pkgmk

Hello,
my problem has to do with software packaging. I copied all the package objects into one directory and ran
# pkgproto my-dir > prototype
to get a prototype-file for use with pkgmk. A pkginfo-file was also made. Unfortunately I have pathes containing whitespaces in my directory and when I start pkgmk I always get the following error message:
"Error in prototype
garbled entry
- pathname: pkg/sw/c
- problem: mode ist not numeric".
The whole name of the directory is "pkg/sw/c dev". In my opinion pkgmk dislikes the whitespace in the path. I tried to use 'path', "path" and dir1\ dir2 but nothing works. Does anybody has an idea how to get rid of this problem? BTW the pathname shouldn't be changed!

I created a printer and printer driver to email the output of the concurrent program. Basically, the user should be able to choose ANY concurrent program (usually an Oracle report), select the email printer and the output will be emailed to them in an attachment.
The sqlplus connection comes into play to determine a few things from the database:
1. The email address of the user running the request, taken from per_people_x
2. For security reasons we cannot allow HR data to be emailed. So another script determines whether the concurrent request was run from an HR type application. If it was, then the email will not be sent. If it was not run from HR, send the email.
Any other suggestions on how to accomplish this? I have already set up a concurrent program independent of this that accepts a request ID and email address, and emails the output to the email address. By setting up the printer we were hoping to eliminate having a 2 step process (run concurrent program, run program to email output).

Output file from ABAP program

I am using the program Z_SAP_HIERARCHY_DOWNLOAD to output a hierarchy in BW to a specified drive. It works fine when I go to SE38 and run it. However, when I run it from a process chain, it doesn't output the file. How can I generate the output file by running the program from a Process Chain? Thanks.

i suppose if you run the program within a process chain it will be started
in a background process. All downloads via the SAPGUI onto your local
PC (or network drive) are not possible in the background because there is no
connection to your PC during the excecution of the report in the background.
Try to save the download on an accessible file system on the application server
and download it from there afterwards.
Which function module is used to download the data (GUI_DOWNLOAD or the older version WS_DOWNLOAD) in your report?
To save data on the application server use the ABAP statements
OPEN DATASET filename FOR OUTPUT    -> for creation of file
TRANSFER record TO filename                  -> for transfer of one record
CLOSE DATASET filename                        -> for closing the file

How to compare and edit Resource bundle file using java programe

Hi All
I have two resource bundle with key, value and some comments. I need to write a java code to compare both of the values of the keys and if the values are different then i want to replace the second value with the first value.
Its a programe which will udpate the second file with the first file values.
I tried using Properties class but it didnt worked because when i am saving the file using store method it removes all the comments and the order of text also got disturbed.
How I need to do this any help appriciated.

Creating an output file using 'GUI_DOWNLOAD' function

when i try to create an out put text file using the FM 'GUI_DOWNLOAD' by wiring the follwoing below source code

iam not able to create the text file with more than 16 fields.i have tried to create an out put file with 24 fields but i can only see 16 fields in it.so could any body help me in finding out how i can create an Output file with more than 16 fields in the file.

check your output definition....are you doing something like below? SAP will transfer 1024 bytes per line with GUI_DOWNLOAD.    After you download, how do you view the data? Be sure you're looking at the data with something that will show all 1024 bytes, and not jsut 256 or 512.

I am not able to modify the text in pdf output file using pdf editor

We have upgrade the xml 5.6.1 in server level. After upgrading this, we are not able to modify the pdf output file. Previously we used to modify text and delete text in pdf file which is generated by oracle Application. As of now we cann't upgrade higher version. Can you suggest what to do?.

Check the xdo configuration file option in the user guides. There should be options that allow / disallow modifying text specifically. If you are in EBS, you should be able to change the configuration file options from the XML Publisher Administrator UI.
