Trimming conflict

I tried to change some settings of clips in the timeline, especially speed and duration, but fce cannot do this, because ' a trimming conflict has occurred'. I searched this forum for 'trimming conflict', but didn't find anything. Can someone tell me what a 'trimming conflict' is?

In addition to Tom's explanation, let me add an example on how I solved the problem in a specific case.
I got the "conflict" message when trying to speed up a clip on track V2, superimposed to the main clips in track V1 of the Timeline.
Solution: first I locked track V1, A1, A2 (click on the small lock at their left), then I applied the Speed with 200%. It works.
Note: you get a similar problem when slowing down the clip on Track V2; but in this case there is no message but all following clips on V1 are moved right. Unless you lock them first.
Hope this helps

  • Trim Whitespace in LV 7 and Open G conflicts

    Hello
I've installed the OpenG-Toolkit on my Labview 7 installation.
Now when i want to insert the "Trim Whitespace.vi" from NI, the one from
    the OpenG toolkit get's inserted!
How can I change this behaviour? I want to compare the two, since the
Trim Whitespace from OpenG uses Match-Pattern which is really slow,
especially if there arn't any whitespaces to trim! :-(
    Bye
    Marco

    Marco,
The next release of the OpenG toolkit will fix this problem by adding a suffix to all the OpenG VIs so we will not get name conflicts. For now, you'll need to rename the OpenG 'Trim Whitespace.vi' yourself.
You'll find the VI under, "LabVIEW 7.0\OpenG.lib\palette\functions\string\string\string.llb". Try renaming it to "Trim Whitespace__ogtk.vi". Note, this is not actually in a library, but in a directory named 'string.llb'.
After you rename it, you'll of course have to relink any applications that used one or the other to the correct one. You will now be able to open both of them at the same time to compare them.
The LabVIEW version is located at "\LabVIEW 7.0\vi.lib\Utility\error.llb\Trim Whitespace.vi"
The LabVIEW version also uses 'M
atch Pattern', the main difference is they use a slightly different regular expression for searching.

Using the Abort button to stop your VI is like using a tree to stop your car. It works, but there may be consequences.

  • Final Cut Pro 6.0.2 - AJA IO HD conflict

Hi, I just got a problem opening Final Cut Pro. FCP can not open and send always the same message: "Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other applications are not affected."
It seems, in the report (see below), that the conflict is with AJA IO HD. I already tried to:
    - restart the computer
    - unplug the AJA
    - change the firewire cable
    - trash FCP preferences
    - uninstall AJA software
    - update AJA software
    - run the AJA conflict checker
But none of these worked out.
When I unplug the AJA, Final cut runs without problem.
I have this problem for 2 days and the only change I made on the computer this day was installing a new software: Shake 4.1. Is there any possibility that Shake could be the reason of this conflict?
    Thanks in advance.
    Nuno

  • Can't see conflicts item in iSync menu

    Hello,
I am using OS X in Swedish, which probably means I will not use the exact English terms in my question - apologies!
I have a Nokia N73 which I have been syncronizing with iCal, using bluetooth/iSync 3.0.2. Now changes I make to the phone calender aren't transferred when I sync. I can't understand why, but wonder if it has something to do with the principles for resolving conflicts between the two. I am now trying to view the "conflicts" item in iSync, but can't find it. The "show status" box is checked, but I still can't see a "conflicts" menu item. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions? This is soooo frustrating, any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Many thanks,
    Helena

This is for PE4, so things might be slightly different in other versions. In the main tab area, make sure you are in Edit. Then below, click on the Project tab. Your Assets will display there. Exactly how they display will depend on your display settings. If it has been Imported, it should appear there.
Now, with Menus with Motion Backgrounds, remember that there is a 30 sec. max limit to the Duration of a Menu in PE (do not know if it was bumped up in PE7). When I create a Motion Background AV, I do so on a Sequence in PrPro2. PE does not have Sequences (kind of like mini-Projects), so if I were using PE, I'd do a separate Project and would edit my Motion Background to fit, then Export as a DV-AVI Type II, for Import into my Project. With PrPro and Encore (my authoring program), there is a 40 Duration limit, and that is what I do. I also Export my Audio as an elemental stream, rather than use a muxed AV file, and Export these separately, then Import them separately into Encore. Now, I do not know if PE automatically truncates the Duration of the Motion Background Asset to 30 sec., of if one needs to do this separately. Steve, or Robert can fill in that blank for you. However, my method should work fine, but might include an extra step, if PE does the trimming automatically.
Now, if you are using an AV Asset from the Template list, you will probably have to Import that separately, as I do not think that PE uses the .EM format, that links Menus (.PSD's) and other Assets for Motion Backgrounds (.WMV, .MPEG, .MOV, or other). Again, one of the PE experts can tell you about that.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • I would like to upgrade my macbook pro model 5.1 (yosemite) to a Crucial 500 gb ssd drive, but I am hearing horror stories about ssd and yosemite conflicts, now what???

Newbie here...I would like to upgrade my HDD to a Crucial or similar 500 gb SSD. I am hearing that there are conflicts with SSD's and the Yosemite OS, any help or advice would be welcomed. Macbook pro (5.1).
    thanx
    mellowfellow

    Hi...Quick response.
I have been checking with other forums and various " how-to" groups about the upgrade. The concern is about using third party non-apple SSD's and only Yosemite and not Maverick or previous OS's. The SSD will eventually bog down because of the accumulating erased data and poor trash control, there are other issues involving security , and something about Trim enable and disable. I haven't tried anything  nor bought an SSD yet, I am just concerned about screwing something up.

  • Yosemite and Trim Enabler for SSD?

I have recently replaced my macbook pro's hard drive with a SSD. Currently I am running mountain lion but would like to upgrade it to Yosemite. Upgrading it is not an issue. However I have learned that enabling Trim Enabler on Yosemite will open up security issues and I read an article on Cindori website that there is no other alternative for this. I am wondering if anyone has found a way to install Yosemite and use Trim Enabler without sacrificing the security features on mac. Also what will happen if I upgrade to Yosemite and not use Trim Enabler at all? How will it affect the SSD?

    TechApple wrote:
...I finally settled for Adata. Now is that a good brand? Yes, I was thinking of updating to yosemite and not use TRIM enabler at all and I am sure it will work fine. But I have read a lot of articles which say not using TRIM enabler affects SSDs life & efficiency and slows down the system in long run. I am not an expert but definitely do a lot of online research and this is what I have learnt so far. Although I am not sure what is the difference in life of SSD between a TRIM enabled and TRIM disabled system.
If your research hasn't included this article, it's worth a read because it gets into, among other things, how SSD's differ from HD's, and how TRIM helps compensate for that difference. As to the Adata, here's a review of that which is of special interest because of the apparent similarity to the Crucial M550. I'm using both an OWC SSD, which refuses to make use of TRIM because OS X sees it as a "rotational" drive (internally, it's a RAID configuration which doesn't support TRIM), and a Crucial M500, which works fine with TRIM, and which has shown no loss of performance during a year of use, perhaps because of assistance from TRIM.
As to "sacrificing the security features on mac," keep in mind that the TRIM Enabler/Yosemite conflict started with Yosemite and only the security feature introduced with Yosemite is affected. All of the earlier versions of OS X didn't have the kext signing feature but somehow we managed and the rest of the OS X security features are still in place.

  • Does Mountain Lion support trim for SSDs? ...

I've been reading various forum posts and I find conflicting info. I did se several references to a tool called 'trim enabler.'
I have a late 2012 Mac Mini with Mountain Lion and installed a Samsung 830 SSD.
System Report shows that trim is not enabled for the drive. Does Mountain Lion support trim for these drives? How important is it to enable it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

Apple does not support the 3rd party drives.  To enable it (without installing another software package), you can visit the website:
    http://digitaldj.net/2011/07/21/trim-enabler-for-lion/
I ran the series of commands on my Mac Pro and it did enable TRIM.
the webpage even has a backup/back-out procedure.
Without TRIM, my computer was running extremely slowly.  After enabling TRIM, my computer ran substancially faster.

  • 2014 Macbook pro, should I use TRIM?

I recently updated to a Macbook pro 15" with 1TB SSD, should I use TRIM enabler? I have read conflicting information online, and am unsure if I should do this. What are the advantages? What are the dis-advantages? What is the process?

You really don't have a choice with your model of MBP.  Apple enables TRIM for their SSD's
So, the answer to your question is YES you should use TRIM.
You can check that TRIM is enabled by:
    a.  Clicking on the Apple logo 
    b.  Open "About this Mac"
    c.  Click on "More Information"
    d.  Click on "System Report"
    e.  Click on "SATA/SATA Express"
    f.  Scroll down to "TRIM Support" and look to the right.  It should say "YES"
NO enabler is needed for your model.

  • Pacman hanging on "checking for file conflicts"

I've tried running pacman -Syu on my laptop and pacman is simply hanging at the checking for file conflicts stage.  I've let it sit for several minutes, but it never seems to get past that stage.  The list of packages to be updated isn't long:
    Targets (5): bison-2.6.2-1 chromium-21.0.1180.75-1 flex-2.5.37-1 libldap-2.4.32-1 lm_sensors-3.3.2-4
This is being done on a laptop that was only recently rebuilt with a new Arch install using the latest installation media.  The install went well and previous updates have worked with no problems.

I'm glad you solved the problem but "pacman -Scc" shouldn't be necessary and makes it more difficult to recover in a variety of situations. You can always re-download old packages but having them in your cache makes it easy to roll something back and makes it possible to do this without, for example, a working network connection. I installed in November and I've never even run "pacman -Sc" let alone "pacman -Scc". (Though I have trimmed the cache to free up disk space using, I think, paccache.)

  • Crystal Report 2008 SP3 and BO XI 3.1 conflict

    Hi every body,
    We have a BOE system:
    BO XI 3.1
    Oracle db 10g
All running successful and can create some types of WebI report.
But we also want reports with Crystal Report.
1> So we install Crystal Report 2008 SP3 (without knowing the conflict error between BO XI 3.1 and Crystal Report 2008 SP3 and overwrite some .dll file). After installing, we can not create WebI report any more. And a error message box display: "DBDriver failed to load: C:\Program File\Business Objects\BusinessObjects ENterprise12.0\win32_x86\dataAccess\connectionServer\dbd_oci.dll ".
2> We uninstall Crystal Report SP3. But this is not the solution. Still error because of missing .dll files.
3> We open BO XI 3.1 setup and repair BO XI 3.1. Even we uninstall BO XI 3.1, delete all of its components and delete in regedit key. We install BO XI 3.1 again. Now we have full .dll file, not missing them any more. But when we open universe and click on Table browser, cannot fetching any tables.
We set rights for Oracle DB user again. But still error: cannot fetching.
4> We searched the solution for this problem on the internet. But not worked, no answer.
Can somebody help me bring back the BOE system state again ? pls   :"<
    T______T

    Hi Paul,
I hope I read your question right!
Yes, It is possible to run XIR2 and 3.1 on the same server although it's not recommended by BO. You will need to make sure they are both pointing to different CMS databases and different FRS repositories, like you already mentioned you will need to specify different ports for the CMS db and Tomcat.
Why not uninstall Business Objects XI R2 in your BO development environment or a spare server (if you have one), and do a clean install of XI 3.1 SP3.
Tip: If you were already having performance issues with your XI R2 environment, I would seriously consider upgrading the hardware. XI 3.1 needs a bit more RAM and CPU than XI R2

  • OIM 9.1.0.2 - User group permission conflict issue

    Hi Gurus,
IHAC who have faced a strange behavior about permission conflict.
User has been assigned to a user group (ANALISTA DRSI) who have permission to disable resource of the users he administrates. The user group has been assigned to resource's administrator.
The same use has been assigned to other user group (ANALISTA ADM DRSI) who have other permission. The user group has been not assigned to resource's administrator.
If the user has been only assigned to ANALISTA DRSI user group the user is able to see records on Rogue Account report. If the customer has been assigned to both ANALISTA DRSI and ANALISTA ADM the user is not able to see the record on Rogue Account report. He got a display error message (You do not have permission). Both user groups have the Report menu item assigned.
My question: if the customer is assigned to a user group who have permission to see the reports, should not the user is able to see the report even though he is also into the other group who do not have permission?
Is there conflit in the OIM???
Any tip will be very appreciated.

There are three models of MacBook that comprise the 'macbook 4.1' category, and each of them a little different; however other than 'macbook 4.1' the other thing they have in common is they all are considered Early 2008. Two are white, one black, polycarbonate case, Core2Duo 2.1GHz, 2.4GHz white, 2.4GHz black.
So if you can determine which one, if any of these, is the model build year and spec you have, that would be handy. Did you tell whoever you spoke to the serial number of your computer, so they'd know by looking up the specs to see what the supported maximum RAM upgrade capacity was, and other minimum requirements to make any upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6.8 at all?
If you have the serial number you can do a lookup to 'indentify by serial number' online, and use that information to determine if the computer needs even more RAM to take it past the minimum for Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then get it ready to upgrade (via paid download from App Store, Snow Leopard gets you that far) and see what the next supported OS X full upgrade would be for the hardware limitations on that old MacBook.
If your MacBook IS a 4.1 build, the highest OS X it could run if it has the 2.4GHz cpu, is Lion 10.7.5. That would be an upgrade from the App store, available to OS X 10.6.8+ computers that access it online. And I kind of doubt how supported a newest iphone etc may be in lion.
everymac.com has a fair amount of information across many years of Apple computing hardware...
Here's the three MacBooks that share the 4.1 designation; first shipped with as much as 1GB RAM upgrade and the other two only a 2GB RAM*, (one white/one black color) according to this information...
    • MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.1 13" (White-08) 2.1 GHz Core 2 Duo (T8100)
    • MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" (White-08) 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo (T8300)
    • MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" (Black-08) 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo (T8300)
    ...as seen here: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/index-macbook.html
*But according to MacTracker (free: download database) http://mactracker.ca
these MacBooks can use more RAM in aftermarket specs as much as:
    Maximum Memory
6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
To get more information use a service such as this...

The Apple? store or whoever you talked, to may have been as accurate as they could be without further research. Could be you may have a newer or older MacBook, which would change whatever later OS X it could run past 10.6.8. And to go past Snow Leopard, you need to download the last bits for 10.6.x to be able to go and get any later upgrade. The ones that may let a newest iphone or ipad work with it, are past SL10.6.8
Anyway, as you further verify the model build year and configuration specifications, report back.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • When placing a PDF created with Distiller, I only get Crop and Media as import options -- I need it to crop to the Trim! PLEASE HELP!

I'm having a MAJOR problem placing PDF files in InDesign CS4...
When I try to place a PDF that has been created in Distiller, the ONLY import options I can choose are CROP and MEDIA. I need it to crop to the TRIM, but that option is grayed out. The PDFs I'm trying to place were created in-house, and converted from Post Script files to PDFs using Distiller. We use PDF/X-1a equivalent settings when creating our PDFs.
If I export the file as a PDF and then try to place it into a CS4 file, I am able to select Trim as an option.
ALSO, if I open the Distiller PDF in Acrobat and then save it (without changing anything), I am able to select Trim as an option. A workaround I have found is to open all of the PDF files in Acrobat, save them to my desktop, and then save over the ones I need to place. Here's the problem with that: I work for a publishing company, and need to place hundreds of ads for each issue of our publications, and it adds a lot of time if I have to go and re-save everything just to be able to place all the ads.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I need to get this figured out so we can use CS4 for all of our publications again. -- We've gone back to using CS3 until I can get this figured out...
    - Valerie

    Steve,
Thanks for the reply, but my PDFs all have trim boxes on them. If I try to place the same PDF in InDesign CS3, it gives me Trim as an option. Also, if I open the PDF and save a copy to my desktop, I am able to select Trim as an option when placing the PDF, and I didn't change anything about it.
I've been trying to see if it's something with the Print Preset settings I'm using, but I can't find anything that seems like it would affect how InDesign would read the Trim area of the PDF.
I've attached 2 PDF files. One that was created with Distiller, and one that was exported from InDesign CS4. The Distiller one doesn't show Trim as an option in CS4, but the exported one does.... but they started out as the same ad.  Ugh!  Help me please!

  • Can't hear audio in trim mode.

When I'm in trim mode and I play, in order to move the cut, I can't hear any audio.  It has nothing to do with scrubbing on/of because pressing shift+s has no effect.  It's also not working when I'm holding down "K" and pressing "L" simultaneously.
    DrL

works for me.  Have you looked in the view menu to make sure audio scrubbing is checked?  It's possible you've reset the keyboard shortcut or your keyboard has somehow or other gotten corrupted.  You might try deleting your fcp preferences.  Use this:
