Trouble adding flash video

I am following the directions in Dreamweaver CS3 The Missing Manual for adding a flash video to my webpage. I did the following:
Insert>Media>Flash Video
Selected Progressive Download from the Video Type box,
Browsed and selected my video ("newsmakers.flv)
Used the default skin
Clicked the detect size button and checked the auto play and auto rewind boxes.
Clicked ok.
Then an error message comes up......(see attached screen print)
"Making this change would require changing code that is locked by a template or translator. The change will be discarded."
The only choice I have is to say ok.  I am not sure what to do. I don't know what this will do. The book does not address this error.
The entire site is built on a template if that is any help.

The problem has to do with your editable regions in your template source code.  If you go to the source code of your template look at the code between <head> and </head>  If you do not have an editable region there then you will need to add one in the code view. This is because when you edit a page based on that template DW will fail to add the code because it needs to add header code in addition to the code it inserts at the point of where you want the video to appear on the page.  So if both editable regions do not exist DW cannot continue.

  • Adding Flash Video to web page

    Hi Everyone,
I have a web page that I have added a flash video to using
the insert flash video option in Dreamweaver. I uploaded all the
files including the additional files that are created when you use
that option and when I try to get to the video file once I have
uploaded it will not play. If I use a link directly to the .swf
then it will play but the link to the page where the video is
inserted just shows a blank page. Can anyone give me any guidance
on how I can get this to work.
P.S. If I preview it from my desktop before uploading to the
    website it works fine.
    Thanks,
    Robert

  • Firefox is having trouble with flash video.

When I watch flash video (usually Youtube), the video would play normally for a while. But then the picture would look weird and it would be impossible to watch. The only way to fix this is to restart the computer. This doesn't happen when I switch the browser to internet explorer.
Here is a picture of a video under the influence

A twitter widget on my website will not load in firefox but will load in every other browser I've tried. I have tried several versions of firefox. Here is the code I am trying to run:
    <code>
    new TWTR.Widget({
    version: 2,
    type: 'profile',
    rpp: 5,
    interval: 6000,
    width: 'auto',
    height: 265,
    theme: {
    shell: {
    background: '#333333',
    color: '#ffffff'
    tweets: {
    background: '#000000',
    color: '#ffffff',
    links: '#4aed05'
    features: {
    scrollbar: false,
    loop: false,
    live: true,
    hashtags: true,
    timestamp: true,
    avatars: false,
    behavior: 'all'
    }).render().setUser('ShawnC4Real').start();
    </code>
And the first thing I checked was that scripts were enabled.

  • CS6 - Trouble displaying Flash video in Web pages

    Hi,
Here's my problem: I embedded .flv videos in HTML pages the same way I've been doing it for years. It worked fine until I moved to CS6.
The last video clips were edited and encoded in Flash format (1024x576 for 1800 bps) in Premiere CSS6 then embedded in HTML pages in DW CS6 after creating the .swf files with Flash CS6. All CS6, no compatilbity problems then.
Once onlie, they fail to display properly, i.e. you have to click a couple of times on the Start/Pause button and occasionally refresh the page to be able to view the video. It's works fine once started but the trouble is getting it to start automatically.
There's over 300 videos ranging from a few seconds to about 15 min on this site, and this is the very first time I come across this kind of problem.
    Any suggestion?
Here's on of the old videos: http://www.aquiceara.com/UK/Video/Bresil_Maranhao_Survol_Lencois.html
And here's one of the CS6 "troublesome" videos: http://www.aquiceara.com/UK/Video/Chine_HK_Tai_Hang.html

The answer is to exactly copy the code from the CS5.5 and below versions of Dreamweaver.
Bu Nancy is correct. Everyone is moving to other standards for video on websites. Nancy generally recommends Pickle Player and I have been hand-coding using the HTML5 standards. I have generally found that all videos play in all browsers using the new standards, though you do have to support OGG and WEBM video files on your server.

  • Firefox Freezed by Fullscreen Flash Video (and trouble with Flash Video Settings)

I have a desktop computer with integrated nvidia graphics card and a notebook with integrated ati graphics card.
Both use Linux with Firefox 3.0.8 with Flash Player 10.22
If I use fullscreen in laptop(ati) no problem at all. In the desktop station(nvidia) if it is an embed video firefox freezes completely and I have to kill firefox. If I go to the original website of the video, no problem at all.
Wanted to try to deactivate hardware acceleration as stated in some forums, but no luck. Both computers when I right click a select settings, window opens but I can't do nothing at all, not even close them. I can only close (normaly) firefox to reopen it.

As it turns out, Skype also crashes if I try to use video - so I'm forced to confront the possibility that the problem is actually with my PC, or the updates windows has just installed.

  • Trouble inserting Flash video

I previously installed flash on my website using dreamweaver and insert media, FLV.  Now when I try to do it again, I keep getting this weird player graphic come up and no video playing.  I've included a picture of what it is showing.  Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?
    Thanks,

Have you installed any extensions for creating flash buttons or similar?

  • Safari 5.0 - Trouble playing flash video

So, I just got a new Core i7 Macbook Pro, and I'm trying to watch hulu or trailers full screen, and regardless of how low the resolution of the video, it's choppy and stutters when it's made full screen. When it plays embedded, it's just fine.
If I play the same video in Chrome fullscreen, smooth as silk. I'm not sure what to make of it.
Is there a fix, or is this a known issue, or do I have some sort of lemon Safari install? Is there a problem with the Flash Plugin?
I'm on the latest version of Flash Player, 10.1.53.64. I've uninstalled and re-installed Flash multiple times, I've repaired disk permissions multiple times. I'm running out of things I can think of.
    Any ideas?
Additionally, with flash content in Safari, sometimes Flash will 'crash' and my screen will get all garbled. It hangs around until I restart my computer, and affects functionality in Safari and Chrome, and it feels as if there's a general slowdown.

  • Mac Mini (latest) trouble playing flash videos

    Hi,
I have searched around & found lots of people with issues playing video on the mini, but nothing exactly the same as my problem. I have a new mac mini with lion - & flash installed. Latest Updates. That's all that is installed on it. I have it hooked up to my tv via hdmi.
All I want to do it watch tv via safari off the major sites (flash vieo), but on some site only it frezes the video or buffers baddly or just stops & hangs the video all thoghther. I try the same site & video on my iMac upstairs (further away from the router) & the video plays soothly & without problems!
Anyone have any idea what is going on? - Its driving me crazy!

    Hardware Overview:
      Model Name:          Mac mini
      Model Identifier:          Macmini5,1
      Processor Name:          Intel Core i5
      Processor Speed:          2.3 GHz
      Number of Processors:          1
      Total Number of Cores:          2
L2 Cache (per Core):          256 KB
      L3 Cache:          3 MB
      Memory:          2 GB
      Boot ROM Version:          MM51.0077.B10
      SMC Version (system):          1.76f0
I'm not sure if it has integrated video? I think so?
So I had a look in the console & the only thing it reports is:
PM Kernel: IOSurface: Buffer allocation size is zero
    No idea what that means.

  • Trouble adding a video transition

I am trying to place a simple cross dissolve transition from a text slide I created in Final Cut Express and an imported video clip. The text slide is 3 seconds long while the video clip is 4.5 seconds long.
The dissolve will only place on the video clip and not extend to the text clip.
    Any help?

    Hi T. Diamond
    welcome to this forum,
you can achieve that by either using a dissolve transition (if you are not familiar to how handles work or what that means check out [this simple tutorial|http://www.larryjordan.biz/articles/lj_handles.html] ) or by putting your text clip on V2 (leaving the other clip in V1) and place/overlap the portion of clip you want to Xdissolve over the clip parked in V1 and ramp the opacity of the text clip (in V2) from 100 gradually down to 0 in the *motion tab* (Viewer).
You will keyframe the opacity from 100 to 0.
Should you not be familiar with keyframing just check out the manual (main menu> help> Final Cut Pro user manual)everything you need to know is there.
    Good luck.

  • Trouble adding new video card to p6-2310

I have the Pavilion P6-2310 (Windows 8.1, 64-bit) and I would like to add a new video card to the empty PCI-E slot in the machine.  I would also like the keep the onboard video capability, as I'm looking to drive 3 monitors.  I have an older GeForce 7300LE that I tried putting in last night and was able to get the card working by turning off Secure Boot and enabling Legacy Mode in the BIOS, but the machine would then not recognize the onboard video.
There were no settings in the BIOS to enable/disable onboard video (BIOS is AMI 8.04), so I'm wondering if there was a trick to keep the onboard video while using a PCI-E graphics card.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    This question was solved.

    Hi:
When you install a discrete video card, the onboard graphics is automatically disabled.

  • Putting Flash Video Online

Have a limited time to get up a site...really having trouble
with Flash Video...I think I know where I am stuck...I seem to have
no trouble encoding and publishing videos, I think where I am going
wrong is when I use the component inspecter to add a 'content
path'...I am stumped because Im not sure where exactly this path is
supposed to go! I have my own server online where I am uploading
all my HTML files...If anybody could explain in really simple terms
where this path is supposed to go, (Ex: where the file will be
uploaded to, the address of the file when it has been uploaded
etc...) I dont seem to be having any luck with this...was also
hoping for some more help if anybody knew how to link to a flash
video, so it would pop up in its own window without going to
another page...I have a list of video descriptions on my html
webpage...and along the list are thumbnail images, i am hoping that
when they are clicked on, the flash video will pop up, and voila!
    My mission will be complete...
Thanks to any kind souls who help me, you have much gratitude
    coming your way!!!

  • Flash Video problem on one particular website.

I am trying to play Progressive Download video on a website.
    I do this
at least 20 times a month .. no issues. This one site will
    not show up and
I have redone the page approx. 20 times with no results in
    any browser.
The page is in my root .. the FLV is in a folder called video
    .. the script
is in the Scripts folder. The ProgressiveFLV and skin swfs
    are in the main
    folder.
I use an identical configuration on other sites on the same
    server with no
problem. It tests perfectly in localhost. But nothing shows
    up on the
    server.
and YES .. I DID FTP the scripts folder. I solve this problem
    for people
every day of the week .. but I can't get this site to work.
    Any thoughts?
    http://www.otglifestyle.com/video1.html
On the last attempt, it actually crashed Firefox .. anyone
    know what is
    going on here?

  • White screen with flash video

In Dreamweaver 4, I get a white screen after adding Flash Video to my webpage. All browsers show white screen in Preview, too.

Flash (if you get it to work) isn't supported by the world's most popular web devices: iPhone, iPad, iTouch, Android and others...   You'll reach a much wider audience if you convert your video to MP4 and use an HTML5 player.
