Trouble creating tabular form through wizard

I can't seem to create a tabular form on one particular table. I've created many others but this table seems to be a problem. The error I get is :
ORA-20001: Unable to create updateable report. ORA-20001: ParseErr: ORA-00972: identifier is too long
I'm starting to wonder if there is something with one of the column names in the table that might be the problem. The DDL to create this table is as follows:
CREATE TABLE SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE (
SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE_ID INTEGER NOT NULL,
SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE VARCHAR2(20) NOT NULL,
DESCRIPTION VARCHAR2(100) NULL
CREATE UNIQUE INDEX XAK1SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE ON SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE
SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE ASC
ALTER TABLE SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE
ADD ( CONSTRAINT XPKSECURITY_RETURN_TYPE PRIMARY KEY (
SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE_ID) ) ;
CREATE SEQUENCE SEQ_SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE
INCREMENT BY 1
START WITH 1
NOMAXVALUE
NOMINVALUE
NOCACHE
NOCYCLE
NOORDER
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER BRIUT_SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE
BEFORE INSERT OR UPDATE ON SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE
REFERENCING OLD AS OLD NEW AS NEW
FOR EACH ROW
begin
/* POPULATE THE AUTO-INCREMENT FIELD IF NECESSARY */
if :new.SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE_ID is null
then
select SEQ_SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE.nextval into :new.SECURITY_RETURN_TYPE_ID
from dual;
end if;
end;

I have encountered the exact same error. I have determined that the problem occurs when the name of the column associated with the Primary Key is exactly 23 characters in length. In my example, the table is ELECTRONIC_SIGN_BLOB with Primary Key ELECTRONIC_SIGN_BLOB_PK consisting of column ELECTRONIC_SIGN_BLOB_ID.
When I rename the column (using ALTER TABLE RENAME COLUMN) to ELECTRONIC_SIGN_BLOB_IDX the Wizard works fine. The same is true if I rename the column to ELECTRONIC_SIGN_BLOB_IDXXXXXXX (length=30) or to ELECTRONIC_SIGN_BLOB_I (length=22). However, if I rename it to ELECTRONIC_SIGN_BLOB_XX or ELECTRONIC_SIGN_BLOB_VV (length=23) the problem reoccurs.
So, it seems it has nothing to do with the name, but everything to do with the length equal to 23 characters. Hope that information helps!

  • Error when creating tabular form with wizard Apex 4.01

    Hi,
I just created a tabular form using the page creation wizard on a table and am showing 50 rows at a time and am getting error:
mod_plsql: /pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept HTTP-400 Too many arguments passed in. Got 2225 parameters. Upper limit is 2000
It doesn't matter how much data I put in --even just a couple rows updated.  I also reduced rows to 20 and still get same message.
    Anyone else seen this error?
    Pat

    Hi Jari,
It returns about 1100 records which i think is not much.
But even when i narrow the amount of records the problem is not solved.
    it this a bug?

  • Create Tabular Form wizard - how to add rows to Table / View Owner list?

Create Tabular Form wizard asks to choose "Table / View Owner"
How to add additional schemas/users to this "Table / View Owner" dropdown list?

    Next step:
I tried to create 2nd application - and it sees and allows to select from schemas I added in previous step.
Then I tried to add 1 more schema - and 2nd application can't see it...
I create 3rd application and select 1st schema (assigned when workspace was created) - and it sees only this one schema
I create 4th application and select another schema (added in previous steps) - and it sees 2 schemas from 4 assigned
    what is this?
    how to live with it?

  • Select list in a manually created tabular form

I created a select drop down item in a manually created tabular form. When I run the page, it also shows the null value '%'. How do I edit this?
This is the line I am using in the SQL:
    htmldb_item.select_list_from_query(34,IN_PGRS_STAT_DSC,'select distinct STAT_DSC, STAT_DSC from PROJECT_STATUS_REF') IN_PGRS_STAT_DSC,

And the select list doesn't work. It gives me an error message if I have the form to display one extra empty record and the select list. But even with the select list, if I don't include the extra row, it works properly.

What I also realized is that the drop down shows the value 7. But the table is empty with no records. I have no idea where this number 7 is coming from?

  • How to create tabular form whithout primary key in table

    Hi All,
I have requirement to create a tabular form but the problem is, the table which I am using in the application don't have any Primary key, I am using only one table can't change any thing in table.(i.e can't add any row in table,no change in data model)
How can I create tabular form when primary key is not available.
looking forward for all of your quick responce.
    Thanks in advance.
    Dikshit Kumar Nidhi

You can create a view like
    select a.rowid id, a.*
    from table a
and create a tabular form on this view. You can use
the new column ID as Primary key.Did you try to actually do this? I did at
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=24317:159
And when I change something and click Submit, I get an error
    Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: Error in MRU: row= 1, ORA-01733: virtual column not allowed here, update "VIKASA"."NO_PK_VW" set "ID" = :b1, "I" = :b2, "J" = :b3 where "ID" = :p_pk_col

Hi, I have Adobe Acrobat Professional. And I'd like to create web forms through Adobe for my site. Do I have to subscribe? or is it included in my Acrobat Professional Software?

    Hi there ferchandler,
You can most definitely create and distribute forms using your Acrobat Pro software. Here's a link to the Acrobat Help, which has some good info to get you started: Acrobat Help | PDF forms basics
And, there is a forum dedicated to forms as well: PDF Forms
Please let us know if you have additional questions.

  • 2 manually created tabular form on the same page based on 2 different table

Hi, I followed the how to document on manually creating tabular form, including one extra row.
The first form I created works fine, but when I attempt to create the second tabular form based on a different table on the same page, I get the following error message when I try to create the query:
ORA-04045: errors during recompilation/revalidation of PUBLIC.X ORA-00980: synonym translation is no longer valid
The logic behind both tabular forms I am using is the same, except that for the second query, I use 100 instead of 1, 300 instead of 3, etc:
    select htmldb_item.hidden(1,empno) empno,
    ename,
htmldb_item.select_list_from_query(3,job,'select distinct job, job from emp') job,
htmldb_item.popupkey_from_query(4,mgr,'select ename, empno from emp',10) mgr,
    wwv_flow_item.date_popup(6,null,hiredate) hiredate,
    htmldb_item.text(7,sal,10) sal,
    htmldb_item.text(8,comm,10) comm,
htmldb_item.select_list_from_query(9,deptno,'select dname, deptno from dept') deptno
    from emp
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
If by "100 instead of 1" you mean the column numbers, then this won't work as you can only have a maximum of 50.

  • Search criteria on manually created tabular form

    Hi All,
    Apex v4.0
    DB 11g
In a page I have created one manually tabular form using collection .
My requirement is :- Search criteria on the form based on 3 column field of that form.
I tried to use LIKE, EQUAL in the select statement of the query. BUT search option is not working .
When I tried to search ,it doesn't return anything.
But its working on wizard base TF.
I am not sure this one option for search criteria on the manually created TF.
Kindly suggest any other way we can achieve it.
    Thanks in Advance !!!
    Regards,
    Amu

Remember that the values on an apex page is only accessible once you submit your page.
And for tabular forms the values needs to be processed to the apex collections after you submit.
For better understanding what happens inside the collections I suggest that you always make a conditional report with
    select * from apex_collectionsand Condition
Where Value of item in expression1 = Expression2
    Expression1
    DEBUGExpression2
YESThis way you can show the content of your collections easily by just enabling debug.

  • Create tabular form with blank records

    Hi,
I want to create a tabular form for INSERTing multiple records! However, I am having difficulty working out how to render the form as 'empty' i.e. no existing table records appear on the Form. I tried to adjust the query the form is based on so the 'automatic' query returns no records, but this caused the fields to 'disappear'. Can anyone recommend the best way to do this (if possible),
    regards,
    Kevin.

    Hi Tyson,
I used the Advanced Dynamic Action wizard and at the point when I specify the Page Load event, a drop down list of conditions is available ( but does include NOT EXISTS ) so I kept the default 'No condition'. I associated the DA with the Event Source. Without editing the DA the form shown 10 blank rows in addition to 10 rows populated from the table. On subsequently editing the DA to add the NOT EXISTS condition you mentioned, the additional blank rows did not appear.
I had exactly the same behaviour when associating the DA with the 'Form' Region! Is the bottom line simply that I can't have a totally blank form if the table it is based on is not empty?
    regards,
    Kevin.

  • Creating tabular form using SQL query

    Hi,
I need to create a tabular form using an SQL query so that multiple rows of a table are displayed on screen and are editable to the user.
I have created this sort of form before using the Tabular Form wizard however for this form I need to enter SQL to produce it.
    The steps I take are:
    1. Create Page
    2. Page with Component
    3. Form
    4. Fow on a SQL query
    5. For the query I have: 'select * from depot_master_customer'
However when I view the page, it just displays one blank field with the title '*' !!
I am doing something completely wrong here? It seems like it should be a simple thing to do.
Any help appreciated, this one is driving me mad.
    Thanks
    Simon

    Simon,
You will need to manually create the tabular form and DML process. This is covered in detail in the How To document shown below:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/howtos/tabular_form.html
    Have you tried this yet?
    Good luck!
    Emilio.

  • Error creating tabular form

When I use the Create Page > Tabular Form wizard to create a form based on a table with a zero in the name, I receive this error:
ORA-20001: Unable to create updateable report. ORA-20001: ParseErr: ORA-00904: "T11_ACCOUNT": invalid identifier
    Here is my table layout:
    SQL> desc a200t011

    T011_AREA VARCHAR2(3)
    T011_ACCOUNT_NAME VARCHAR2(40)

    T011_GRANT_END DATE
    T011_DEPARTMENT VARCHAR2(8)
    T011_STATUS VARCHAR2(1)
    T011_TYPE VARCHAR2(1)
Looks like HTMLDB is removing the zeros?

    Billy,
I've confirmed this behavior but I cannot explain why it is happening. So for now, it'a a bug.

  • Manually Created Tabular Forms and Firefox 4 Problem

I have a tabular form created with pl/sql dynamic content regions using the apex_item toolkit. An apex collection is used to maintain state for the tabular data entered. It is an application originally created in APEX 1.5 and upgraded through the years to 3.2 . Never a problem with the application until now. I have re-created the issue on the apex.oracle.com site here:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=28213
Run the application in IE ( I am using 8) and then run in Firefox 4. Enter a quantity in the first item then hit Next and then Previous multiple times. See the problem? The problem does not occur in FF 3.6 or Chrome either. I have not tried Safari as my mac is at home and I am at the office.
Here is code for both pl/sql regions and the collection update (after submit). Page 2 is just a report selecting from the collection. I have spent a day trying to solve this problem. Any help will be appreciated. Re-architecting without the pl/sql dynamic regions is not an option at this time.

    Dave,
All I am saying is both of your report regions can very easily be made into a sql statement and put into a report region. you can then use the apex builder to format them. How you validate that data is up to you and would not change all that much other than making sure your global arrays are pointing to the same columns. it just looks to me that you are going through a lot more effort to not use what apex will very easily do for you. Plus the more apex built in functionality you use the more robust your application will be in different browsers.
I tried running your application in IE 7 and FF 3.6 and i did not see any problems. i entered 1,6,4 clicked next. Clicked previous numerous times and was redirected back to the page and saw 1,6,4.
What is happening when you run the app?
    Thanks,
    Tyson Jouglet

    Hi,
The blank row that you get from your second select statement would appear at the end of the report. Put that statement first and it should be at the top of the first page

  • Troubles creating a form with Acrobat

I have created a form with Acrobat 9 Pro. However, when it is brought up with Acrobat Reader, the following message appears:
Sending data files by email: Please note, this form contains an email submit button. Clicking this button will email a data file... However, the form itself will not be sent. Remember you cannot save a complete file of this form with Adobe Reader 9.
When the submit button is clicked, the following message is posted on a popup window.
    Operation not permitted.
Here's the link to a form I am trying to get to work. It works fine if I use the Pro version, but the Reader version doesn't want to allow the form to be sent. http://www.drugfreedekalbcounty.info/pdf/interventionscholarshipform.pdf
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It may have been improved with AA9, but at least up through AA8, Acrobat required the use of MAPI on the machine to deal with e-mail. If that has changed, then the other recommendation to use extended rights might meet your need. There is a 500 use limitation for the extended rights (more requires negotiation with Adobe). This may be a limitation that changed with AA9 Pro Extended.
The rights are not needed if the data file is sent and not the whole PDF. There is no need for the whole PDF since the data file can be opened in the original form document - giving the same result. Your observation that it works in AA9 for e-mail is making the assumption that everyone uses AA9. That is a dangerous assumption if you are developing a general use form. You should assume folks have back to AA7, or even AA5 (like I have on this machine). There are still a few that check in here on occasions with AA4. I have not seen an AA3 question for several years. Thus backward compatibility may be an issue, depending on your client base.
The cleanest way to work with forms is to submit to a web script. Then there is no question about the end result. The use of web scripts is even recommended for online html forms for much the same reasons. I was giving a heads up so that you have considered possible users that do not have the newest and best, assuming that the latter resolves the e-mail issue.
