Trouble installing my OfficeJet 6310

I've tried uninstalling my HP Officejet using IObit Uninstaller and that seemed to work. However when I go to reinstall from my HP disc for Vista, it's showing the program is still installed but won't uninstall it and won't re-install the program. I can't find any trace of the printer program in my computer but there is obviously some sort of ghost program. Can anyone help?Cheers,Adrian

Hi again,Well, everything seemed to be installing correctly but then, after turning the printed on and connecting the usb cable, it churned away for several minutes but then gave me a big red cross. When I clicked on "help" I got the following message: 1. Confirm that the device is connected to your computer and the power is on.  Click the "<Back" button to try again.
2. If device setup fails to complete, some hidden setup commands may not be finished.  Click the "<Back" button  then wait a few minutes for device setup to finish.
3. If the problem is not resolved, see the Troubleshooting section in the Readme file, located on the CD. Clicking "back" didn't help at all, neither did the HP help files. Any more help?Cheers,Adrian

  • Switched to Mac - Trouble installing HP Officejet 7410

I'm switching from Windows to Mac after a disaster while upgrading to Vista (another story). Mac mini is up and running fine. I've been very pleased with my HP Officejet 7410 since late 2004. However, installation with the Mac has been a challenge.
Using the original Mac disc provided with the 7410 at purchase, install runs ok - but when connected via USB, the 7410 is never recognized. When connected via wireless, the "fax" version installs (don't know if it works), but the printer version does not install automatically. When I manually add the printer, I get to the point of selecting the driver, but the 7410 is not included and I have to selected another printer with Gutenprint driver. Prints ok, but no scan / copy.
Checking via Mac support (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1370), the 7410 is listed as one of the printers included in the Mac OS X 10.5.2 software pack, using an HP 4.0.1 driver - but it is not listed in the "select" printer options on my machine.
I've downloaded the latest Mac driver pack from HP, and run through that process, but still with the same results.
Any idea where I can get just the driver and where I need to "park it" on my Mac hard drive so that is is recognized as an available driver that I can select?

Greg - Well I tried the "reset" suggestion after running the new, downloaded driver from HP - and same results. When I go to add the new printer, the system does not automatically find the correct driver. I'm offered "Select a driver" and the HP 7410 does not show up in the list - and mainly Gutenprint drivers are listed - no HP drivers.
My HP Photosmart 475 printer installs just fine.
It still seems to be how to get the HP driver in my "available" list.

  • Trouble Installing HP Officejet 6500 on a MacBook Running OS 10.4.11

I'm trying to help a friend install the new HP all in one Officejet 6500 she bought.
We've followed the directions in the start up guide--plugged the USB cable from the printer into the laptop, put the HP install disk in, double clicked on the install icon.
The installer gets through the first few steps--asks us to agree to the EULA, pops up a box with the printer and we select the printer to install, takes us to the easy or custom install page.
No matter whether we select easy or custom, when we click on the install button, nothing happens. No little "I'm thinking" color wheel. No install bar. Nothing.
Any help on what we need to do would be great.

Depending on the age of the printer, drivers for it could have been pre-installed
in the OS X already. For my all-in-one HP Officejet (5610xi) instead of trusting
the older drivers and included software in the box (last year) I went to HP's
support pages and found a rather large download of newer drivers. That worked.
{Though I do not recall now, if the printer had to be turned on (or off) before
installing the drivers and attached to the computer, some of these kinds of
steps are important to follow exactly as per the instructions. I have more
    than one brand of printer, so by memory alone, I will not cite an example.}
So, the drivers in the box may not be the best available; so perhaps that is a
part of the issue. Another one may be in not following their setup instructions
exactly and to the letter for Mac OS X. The Quick Setup paper in the HP packet
usually is enough for the Mac; unless they omitted that from your package.
A few weeks ago, I performed a fully new installation of everything to a zeroed
hard drive; including re-install of the large file of HP drivers I downloaded from
their support site. Rather easier to navigate than discuss, the Mac OSX ones
are not hard to find for most available and some older all-in-one units online.
You may have to find and remove just those items installed by the original
HP CD included with the Officejet 6500; or maybe not. I tried to not install
their older drivers based on the date of the files in their disk. In a few cases
using existing old drivers may be almost inescapable; but in newer OS X
versions, those old ones are problematic. Do Not get the latest Snow Leopard
drivers, they are listed and linked from Apple Support> Downloads. Instead,
go to HP Support and get the correct ones for the unit you have there, and be
sure to check that the ones you get are Not for OS X 10.6.

  • OfficeJet 6310 Will Not Install on Windows 7

I have an HP OfficeJet 6310 that I am trying to install on a computer operating on Windows 7 64-bit.  Using the Add A Printer feature, I am able to add the printer but it will only print - it will not scan.  When attempting to scan from the all-in-one, I get a message that says "No Scan Options."  I visited the HP website & downloaded the driver but when attempting to install the driver, I receive a message that says it did not fully install.  I am trying to install the printer via a wired USB connection but during the driver installation, when told to plug in the USB cable the driver does not recognize that the cable has been plugged in.  When using the driver downloaded from the HP website, I cannot install the printer to print or scan.  I am a bit confused because the all-in-one worked perfectly on both XP and Vista.  Please help.

I have the same problem. You need to reinstall it with the Vista downloads, not the windows 7

  • HP OfficeJet 6310 All-In-One printer won't print in color with new cartridge

HP OfficeJet 6310 All-In-One printer  on a iMAC  OSX version 10.9.5 system
    Hello,
As I don't print in color much but had need to I discovered my printer not printing in color.  I trouble shooted and even replaced with an new HP95 new from Office Depot ( I never buy refilled).  The printer still won't print color but it advances the paper as if it was printing - just no ink on paper.  I have cleaned thoroughly the ink jet heads, cartridge area, and run all the alignment and printer utilities.    The test page print does not show color either.   I have no error messages.  Don't know what else to do.
    thanks

    Hi there @dhengr!
Thanks for contacting the HP Forums!
I can see your having a print quality issue with your HP OfficeJet 6310.  I should be able to provide documentation that will help locate a resolution.  You mentioned you have already tried another  HP95 tri-color cartridge with no resolution.  I also noticed you said that the quality report from the printer also has no color ink.
If a stand alone test report is performed from the front of the printer such a printhead cleaning or print quality report and there is no color on the page then you are likely looking at a hardware issue within the printer.  I have provided a document regarding Missing, Faded, or Dull Colors on the HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One Printer.  If you follow the document from start to finish and still have the same issue then I would recommend contacting our HP tech support via phone.  They deal with hardware warranty and replacement options.

  • Officejet 6310 and windows 8.1 rt

how do i  get my hp officejet 6310 to connect wirelessly to my surface 2 running windows 8.1rt. right now it cant find the printer. before the last update it did.

Hi frank8122, welcome to the HP Forums. Windows RT uses print drivers that are already in the operating system. If it is going to work, you can go to "Step two: Install the software" and follow the Windows RT instructions for "Wired (Ethernet) or wireless connection": Install the Printer Software in Windows RT or Windows 8 on a Tablet.
If that does not work, then the printer is not supported to work in Windows RT 8.1.

  • Windows 7 HP Officejet 6310 A-I-O Printer

I am trying to install the HP OfficeJet 6310 on a Fujitsu Siemenns Laptop running Windows 7 (64Bit)  The Laptop is connected to a wirless router.  The printer is connected to the router via a CAT 6 patch cable.  I can print to the printer because I was able to install the driver by going through 'Add Printer'
The printer was detected on the network and a driver installed.  However I only used this as I was unable to install the full software download due to a problem.  When I run the driver application I encounter the following error message...
'The computer does not have the necessary USB software support to allow completion of a USB installation.....'
There are no issues in device manager and my USB ports all work with other devices
I am not trying to install via a USB port anyway
I cannot get past this part of the installation as my install is aborted automatically
    Any solution?

    Hi,
you may try skipping the system check and check if that may bypass the problem,
When the System Requirements Check window appears, click on the Cancel button while holding the Ctrl+Shift keys. This will bypass the sys. req. check and continue the installation. You may need to do this several times for the installation to proceed.
If that doesn't help I would recomemnd ensuring that you have the latest USB drivers for your PC, please clarify your PC model and I would try pointing you further as possible.

Hello @shelfy , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're running into scan errors.  I would like to help!
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Officejet 6310

Have had such good service from my Officejet 6310. Now will not scan a picture. Says part of software is missing. Have downloaded driver and installation software again...no luck. Any ideas, thanks

    Hello @donefoster ,
I understand you have been having some issues with your scanner on your HP Officejet 6310.
You said that you have reinstalled the software again but have you removed the original software from the computer? I recommend removing the original software and reinstalling it to remove any obstacles that may be in the way.
Here is a document that you can use to uninstall the software entirely and reinstalling the newest software entirely.

  • Trouble installing 2.1.1 for ipod touch generation 1

I am having troubles installing 2.1.1 ipod touch software on a gen. 1 ipod touch. I am using an IMac G5, itunes 8, OS 10.5.4 and the process of updating in itunes has frozen with the blue candy stripe bar spinning as it says "preparing iPod software for restore."
The ipod is black with an white apple and a spinning wheel.
    It's been about 5 hours.
    What should I do?
    Cheers.

Just found some info on apple support.
Updating your iPhone and iPod touch to iPhone software 2.0 or later for the first time
Software updates prior to iPhone software 2.0 updated the device without affecting your settings or media content. Updating your iPhone and iPod touch from iPhone software 1.x to 2.0 or later includes a back up, erase, and then restore of your device prior to installing the new update. iTunes will offer to create a one-time media backup of your device depending on what content is on your device and what content is stored in the iTunes Library you are connected to. You should ensure that you have enough free space on your Mac or PC to accommodate a backup that matches the capacity of your iPhone or iPod touch (4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB) if you proceed with the this backup.
As a result of this comprehensive one-time media backup, this process can take some time. The amount of time, is determined by the amount of data on the iPhone or iPod touch.
7 hours and counting. Stay tune. Maybe by tomorrow morning!
