Trouble on Windows Explorer Key Event

Hello I'm intending to develop a new software via my best language Java. But I think there are some limitation with JAVA. Actually I 'd like to capture the 'KEY TYPED EVENT' of the Windows User. I couldn't find any good library after I've searched so many times on Google. Simply by thinking on Java view I think JAVA cannot take the event of window's explorer because event are fired only on explorer . So please could any body help me ? Is It possible to develop my software from JAVA? or I need to program from autocratic PL -> Microsoft PL(.NET)?
Thanks.

Look into KeyListener:
http://download.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/awt/event/KeyListener.html
It has a "keyTyped" method.
Taking the tutorial on KeyListeners won´t hurt either, I guess.
http://download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/events/keylistener.html
Note that the Component with the KeyListener needs the input focus to listen for KeyEvents.
Then, there are key bindings:

  • Keep focus in the same window after opening a new window per key-event

    I have an application in which user can press on a specific key, and that opens a new window in a JFrame. User might want open a few of such windows in a row by changing the cursor position and pressing the same letter key. But the problem is that with every new window Java VM transfers the focus to that new window. User is forced either to click to regain focus, or to move the mouse out-and-in the window, in which case the focus returns to it as well, assuming the X11 style of focus by cursor position of course.
    Is there any way to keep the focus with the window on which the cursor is placed?

    In your ActionListener your code should be something like:
    JFrame anotherOne = new JFrame();
    anotherOne.setVisible(true);
    originalFrame.requestFocusInWindow();If you need further help then you need to create a [Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE)|http://sscce.org], that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour.
    Don't forget to use the Code Formatting Tags so the posted code retains its original formatting. That is done by selecting the code and then clicking on the "Code" button above the question input area.

  • Trouble displaying Windows Explorer file select dialog in RH8

    This problem is occurring across RH8: when I select Import Word doc at startup; when I select Baggage File -> New; when I select Insert Image-> Browse . RoboHelp locks up and when I select to End Task in the Windows Task Manager I get a message saying "the system can not end this program because it is waiting for a response from you". I've tried cascading windows to see if the dialog box is hidden but it's just not there.

    Is your RH project located on a network drive (very bad) or a local drive (good). Also is this just on one project? What happens when you try to do the same on one of the supplied demo projects?

  • Windows Explorer was crashing/restarting every few seconds and after trying several different methods of fixes, the only one that worked was removing Firefox, is there something I've missed that I can get Firefox back?

    I'm running a Toshiba Satellite laptop that was originally running Windows Vista 32-bit, but was upgraded by me to Windows 7 32-bit. On Windows Vista, all I would run was Firefox. I loved it!!! On Windows 7, I've noticed that Firefox kept hanging whenever I would try to download a file...from anywhere. I got so frustrated I went to try several different browsers. They all worked extremely quickly, whereas Firefox was working so slow, I could click on a link to a page, go get some lunch, come back and it still be trying to load the page. This was drastically unusual for Firefox. I used the other browsers and everything was fine for a week and then Windows Explorer started going down every few seconds. I went to the windows 7 forums and started looking. There were several suggestions on how to fix the problem, none of which worked for my compy. I tried restarting the compy in safe mode. That didn't help. I turned off every startup program except for the essentials and that DID work in keeping Windows Explorer from restarting. I then dove into the tedious task of trying to discern which 3rd party program was the offender. I removed everything from my compy that had been downloaded in the last ten days (well before the windows explorer issue, but not before the firefox issue). That didn't work either. I tried replacing an explorer file, which didn't work either. There were several other things I tried, as well, but nothing worked. Then, I saw a post that Firefox had caused the problem for one person. I went in and did as was suggested and completely removed Firefox and all associated files. Unfortunately, this worked. I haven't had any more trouble with windows explorer restarting. My big problem is, however, I can't run Firefox!!! And I LOVE Firefox!!! It's spoiled me! I hate Internet explorer, which is what I'm forced to run now. I've tried Safari and Google Chrome and don't like either one of those, either. I want my Firefox back! But if it's not working 100% it's less frustrating to be forced to live with the Internet Explorer. I'm going insane, here! Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried clearing out browser history, changing download files and a couple of other things and nothing worked with the Firefox to get it going better before I started having the Windows Explorer difficulty and had to completely erase the Firefox program. If I've missed any info, please don't hesitate to ask!! I'm happy to supply whatever I know about the issue!!

    uninstalled firefox ....deleted all files still remaining under mozilla firefox directory in program files ... to avoid having to reprogram all my settings, reisntall all addons as well .. I did not remove anything from mozilla firefox that is stored in either appdata or under the windows users directory (if any)
    ... the as suggested reinstalled the latest version of the firefox browser using the link you provided in the email ..; tested and several issues still remain present and unresolved ....
    so please this is urgent or I will have to jump browsers and start using chrome .. because we work 14 hours a day 6 (sometimes 7) days a week, to get ready for the launch of our newest venture and we cannot lose that much days on browser related issues ... so please instead of putting me through week long step process .. of do this .. do that .. can you please actually look into the issue from your end .. I use firefox for so many, many years thta I deserve this kind of support .. thnx Robert

  • "Class not registered" Error when running Windows Explorer

    Hi,
    I've been having trouble running Windows Explorer + any related programs (Control Panel, Internet Explorer, etc.).  Whenever I try to run such programs, a popup containing the following comes up:

    Any help?  I've tried using a registry cleaner, and the command regsvr32 ExplorerFrame.dll didn't work.  I don't recall installing anything, and everything else seems to be fine.
    Thanks in advance.
    EDIT: I've tried System Restore, didn't work.

    Depending on the CSS, live view and design view can be totally different.
    Its often best to type in your copy in the divs and then add the CSS to format it.
    Post the css and the set of divs with some content in order to enable people to try work out what is wrong.

  • Erratic event id 1000; Windows Explorer; MSVCR90.dll on Win7 64bit

    Windows 7 64 bit. Interacting with Explorer, often as simple as switching to Explorer window and changing focus on a filename. Explorer stops working, generates ID 1000 (see below) and then restarts itself.
    Recently installed LibreOffice v 3.6.1.2 and 16-bit Java 6 update 30 (which works with LibreOffice).
    I suppose you are going to tell me to uninstall the LO and Java. I'm really hoping for other troubleshooting or diagnostic options. The LO and java setup is for a project of some urgency.

    Hi,
    According to the event log, we can see that the issue is related to MSVCR90.dll.
    Therefore, please use ShellExView to disable this extension of Windows Explorer:
    1) Please download
    ShellExView for x64-bit system.
    Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance
    or reliability.
    2) Extract the download file and double-click the "shexview.exe" file. It will scan the registry for all the shell extensions.
    3) Select the MSVCR90.dll in pink.
    4) Click the "Disable Selected Items" on the toolbar and click Yes.
    5) Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.
    If Windows Explorer can work properly after disabling MSVCR90.dll, we can conclude that the issue is caused by LibreOffice. Therefore, please update LibreOffice to the latest or you may have to contact
    LibreOffice for help.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to listen a key event without having any window component

    Hi all,
    I would like to know how can I listen key events from an application that doesn't use windows
    Thanks

    yoiu can make a Thread run inside your application. This will listen for inputs in the command line. For examplethis is part of a chat server (on the console) with let the server manager to enter messages or commands.
    The message or command entered on the console by the user is catched and processed as a String. The string is passed to the processConsole() method, you must define yourself.
    Th Thread is never stopped, so the user may enter any message at any time
    The core of you application should also be a Thread for better performance, but maybe it will also work without. Jst try and provide needed importstatements.
    Runnable runInput = new Runnable() {
            public void run() {
              while(true) {
                try {
                  byte buffer[] = new byte[255];
                  System.out.print(prompt);
                  System.in.read(buffer);//, 0, 255);
                  String inputString = new String(buffer, "Default");
                  processConsole(inputString);
                catch(NullPointerException npe) {
                  System.out.println("Syntax error");
                catch(Exception e) {e.printStackTrace(); }
          Thread inputThread = new Thread(runInput);
          inputThread.start();

  • Sleutel Bind, fancy key events handler for standalone window managers

    I began using Openbox in my laptop a while ago, and I was amazed by the speed, customization and simplicity it provides. After I started customizing my desktop I noticed that some of the special keys (TouchpadToggle, Volume, PrintScreen, etc) didn't worked at all. There are some applications for the Volume keys to work, but not for keys like touchpad-toggle and print-screen. Of course, there's a workaround for each case using simple scripts, but I wanted something a little more fancy, so I made:
    Sleutel Bind
    It's made in C and provides key events handling for:
    XF86TouchpadToggle
    Print (prtsc key)
    It makes use of libnotify to display states ( touchpad enabled/disabled, screenshot taken, etc) and imlib2 (a very popular library, probably already installed in your system) to grab the screenshots. Almost all other keys are covered already by another application, but if needed, more key events will be added in the future.
    Feel free to post your thoughts about Sleutel Bind, it's my first contribution to the community.
    How to use
    Once installed just run the command as a normal user.
    If using openbox, place the following command in the "~/.config/openbox/autostart" file:

    What OS are your running? If you can access your user library, you can go to Keychains/login.keychain and move it to your desktop. Restart and a new login keychain should be created. If successful, delete the one from your desktop.

  • X230 -Windows Explorer freezing - Windows 8.1 with Update

    X230 Laptop, 8GB RAM, Intel Graphics 4000 series, SS180GB SSD.  Problem occurs with laptop in the Ultra Base Series 3 dock or out of it. - VGA or DisplayPort. Laptop came with Windows 7, was upgraded to Windows 8 and then Windows 8.1 and then the 8.1 update. Problem started when Windows 8.1 was initially installed.
    When connected to an external Monitor (HP ZR2240W or a Dell 2412Mb) with either display port or VGA (VGA on Dell only), Windows Explorer will stop working, open programs will show not responding. Mouse still functional, and if cursor is placed in the "taskbar" area, you will get a blue spinning circle. A double click of the mouse in that area will generally cause a relaunch of Windows Explorer (screen area goes blue, then repopulates with the icons) and things will work fine for a number of program launchs or switching between programs, then the problem will occur again. This will happen up to 20+ times per day.
    Laptop has the latest BIOS installed from Lenovo, Intel Graphics Driver 10.18.10.3621. Have tried three different keyboard and mouse options (Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse, Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse, and a hard wired keyboard and mouse) and problem follows each. Today I reloaded Windows 8.1 with the most recent updates and problem continues.
    I feel that it might be a graphics adapter (Intel 4000) problem. Only solution there is a motherboard replacement.
    In multiple searches on the "net," I could not find anything that resembled this problem. Getting very frustrating.
    TIA
    Michael

    Well, the monitor resolution change did not fix the problem -
    Lenovo has so far replaced the SSD Drive and the System Board, both to no avail. Replacing the System Board cause Windows 8.1 to request me to activate and it will not recognize my Key. The System Board Serial Number is different and apparently both Microsoft and Lenovo key off that. Lenovo Updates do not work either - another trouble ticket started on these issues -
    On the original problem, I did find in the System Log the following entry -

  • JTree traversal with key events

    I am looking for any classes available for traversing nodes in Jtree based on the input given through keyboard matching with nearest name in the tree being displayed. • My taskbar crashes when I try to open any documents folder. (Windows Explorer, My Library, Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos, Dropbox folder, Skydrive, every folder!)

    Hello. I don't know if this is the right category for my problem but here it goes.
    Since yesterday, I've been trying to open Windows Explorer folder (which include Documents, Pictures, Videos, Music, Downloads, Computer, Dropbox, Skydrive, etc.) and as a result my taskbar and my background crashes, the folder doesn't open and then my taskbar
    and bg goes back to normal. I searched the problem in other forums but the responses are from last year and this is happening since 29/03/2014 (yesterday) so I don't know if this is a new thing or old. I called my sister because she has this same laptop and
    asked her if this is happening to her also and she said it is so I'm starting to think that W8.1 needs an update. Idk :(. We have a Dell Inspiron 15 and it's brand new ! I ordered mine last month.

    Hi,
    Did you make any change to your system recently? To fix this problem, firstly, you can try to use
    SFC /scannow command to fix it for test.
    If problem persists, just try to boot your system into Safe mode to test if this problem occures. If problem occures, It would be better to use system resotre to revert your system to a former timepoint state.
    To find the reason about this problem, you can use Process Monitor
    to capture Explorer.exe when open folder or library.

  • Help! Windows Explorer crashes regularly when using "SharePoint" directory synced with OneDrive for Business

    We are using SharePoint 2013 and I want to sync document libraries with
    OneDrive for Business with my PC running Windows 7.
    In general, it works, but my Windows Explorer crashes very often (after a few minutes) when I navigate in the synced directories and open files there (or copy files into them in Windows Explorer).
    How can I find out what happens and how to avoid it?
    remark:
    We are still using Office 2007, so I installed only OneDrive for Business from the Office 2013 DVD and
    deactivated all other components like Office 2013 by hand:
    (so for example, the shared office feature or MS Info Path etc. were not installed)
    Is there a crash log, where I can find more information about the crash?
    Does OneDrive maybe need other components to be installed and can I install them without damaging my existing Office 2007 setup?

    Did  you check your Event Viewer for any errors during the time when Windows Explorer crashed?
    Thanks for this hint!
    The Log file says the following, so it seems to be WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\btncopy.dll
    to be responsible for the crashing Windows Explorer
