Trouble Shooting help with broken system

See sig for system.
Today I was just sitting there enjoying myself and decided to run diskeeper on my D:
PATA drive when pop went the weasel. The computer won't boot to windows.
All the info the BIOS gives me looks good ie the sata and pata controllers are functioning as is the lone IDE drive.
I looked at the board and one of the sata ports is pulled slightly away from the board
yet the drive is recognized on it as it is on the other.
I have another PS that I will try tonight or tomorrow but was looking for some troubleshooting expertise.
Other info: Hangs for a spell when loading atapi.sys
Won't boot my other OS 64 bit XP which was hidden when the error happened
Any Advice? No way to test the SATA drive

I read the manual and it states I may lose data but probably not. Ok if I delete the array where does the data go? Drive 1 or Drive 2 or ? and can I access it by merely hooking the drive(s) to IDE? I have a ton of data and I can move it and back it up but if I don't have to I don't want to.

Sorry that was the impression made by the support agent. If the version of the software that you have is 3.0 or 3.2, then the catalog can be upgraded when you run the trial version of Photoshop Elements. Version 8 had no time limitations, not sure if version 9 will timeout after 30 days or not.
Just install, and when you launch, Elements will automatically convert the catalog to a format that it can read.

My garage band app has crashed & keeps returning to the main screen when I try to open it... I've tried most of the trouble shooting chart (no updates available, tried restarting app, restarted device) all I have left is to re-install the app... My main fear is that if I do this I will lose a load of recent projects that are saved to the app that I've spent the last few days creating... Help...

I have tried all those things I even updated the software to the new iOS system and it still did fix my problem.
What happened is that my garage band looks like it will open then it shuts down.
I have lot of important things on my garage band and I'm afraid that if I uninstall it deleting it then reinstalling it all my work on it will be gone and I can't have that happen.
Everyday I am hoping that when i go to open the app that is will work but it doesn't it gets ready to turn on then it shuts off , the app doesn't even open all the way and turns off.
I really hope I don't have to erase it.
It'll say it's ,lading my songs then it shuts down .
If I waited for the App Store to come up with an update for garage band should I wait till then to update my app so it doesn't get damaged . I don't want to erase it and all my data get erased . I figured if I wait for an update then my garage band will reset itself but won't delete my data. I'm not sure if that will help. Is there anything you or anyone else might know that can help me with this matter ?

Trouble Shooting Help needed on GF4 MX 440

I have a MSI - GF4 MX440 8x AGP which I am having troubles with.
When I try to play any 3D games they will start and run for a few seconds then crash back to the desktop. (specificaly Morrowind and Mafia I have not yet tried others) Any trouble shooting advice would be much appreciated. I have tried to re-install windows and put only the mobo, vid card drivers and the games on the system, but with the same results. Also the MSI Specs Page for the MX440 says that it "Supports Microsoft® DirectX® 8.0, 7.0, 6.0, and 5.0 (IDCT)" ... does that mean DX 9 is not supported?

I've been able to fully automate System Update distribution using Group Policy. this works perfectly.
I am now trying to achive the same functionality using scritps.
the problem: I get quite a few prompts for "License Agreement" - not the "master" initial one, only a few for the different installs.
here's my setup:
1. a local server is the repository.
2. I import a .reg file before installing "System Update" using an automated install.
3. after a restart, a command runs on the local machine.

Help with broken? macbook. Boot commands dont work.

I have an old macbook that is from late 2008 and is kinda old. First time it did 3 beeps (ram error) So i exchanged the ram and now it starts. But i get stuck at greyscreen, and sometimes at a flashing folder with a Question mark.
I did try to go through the community here but i cant use any of the commands people are recommending..
Command + Alt + R dont work
Alt during boot dont work.
Command + alt wont work... No commands do anything except leaving a blank screen and a cursor.
If i dont hold any keys during boot i eventually get the flashing questionmark folder.
Any suggestions?
Can i reinstall it from a USB and how do i do it if i cant use the bootup commands? :S
(The keyboard seems to work so that cant be the issue)

Cannot help with troubleshooting since you do not know which OS is installed on your comp. If you purchased your MBP from a private party, ask them. Better yet, did the previous owner provide you w/the DVDs that originally came w/the MBP? If not, you purchased a glorified door stop.
If none of the suggestions in the KB Article work out, take the MBP to your local AS or an AASP.
There is nothing more for me to suggest until you determine which OS you are working with and you have possession of the system DVDs that originally came w/the MBP.

Help with IC systems

Hey i have a normal i phone 4 and have just done all the iTunes, macbook and iphone updates and i can not get the devices thing to come up in the tab on the left in iTunes. and i have done that itunes trouble shooting thing with no luck.. plz help

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

Need help with Inventory System

I am trying to throw together a semi-elegant inventory
viewing system for a web site I am creating. The current website is
going to be scrapped and remade relatively soon, so I really just
want a quick and dirty solution. As such, I have been using some
spry with xml datasets. I happened upon an article
here
that clued me in to a particularly interesting method of presenting
the data, so I am attempting a similar design, along with code from
spry samples (lots of cut-n-paste unfortunately, which is probably
a major reason why I have so many problems). Anyway, here is the
relevant info:
Right now I have folders for each category, with an xml file
for each size category. I arranged it this way, because I was
originally going to use straight html files for each size category
and in each folder, obviously not very practical. I played around
with the idea of putting all sizes into one file and letting some
spry+xml magic sort it out, but since I can't even get this to work
I haven't really tried it. If you experts would clue me in as to
which version might be more efficient or if you have any other
ideas please feel free to put me in my place.
Before I go any further, my main problem is the third line of
the first piece of code, I'm having trouble getting the dsStock xml
to load properly. The original example I cited above was using
Coldfusion, but I guesstimated that it wouldn't be a problem to
just load some straight xml files. Before I go any further I would
at least like to know if what I am attempting is possible.

I'm not seeing anything obvious. Have you tried loading your
XML files directly to see if there are errors in the XML? Is your
server serving up XML files with a Content-Type of text/xml or
application/xml?
If you post a sample page, perhaps me or someone else on the
forum can take a look?

IOS 5 and DPS issue? Trouble shooting help needed.

I have a reader with a problem. I can't seem to tell him what the problem is and how to fix it. He is the only one that I know of with the problem. Turns out the story the problem happens on is also the story he wrote for the latest issue.
He has an orginal iPad 1, running iOS 5 (I do all my proofing etc off a iPad 2)
My DPS App was updated to v24 to address the crashing issue once iOS 6 came to be. Prior to this current issue being made available.
The first two issue I produced were v23. Latest folio and the one with the problem is a v24
He says he has updated the app itself to the v24 version
This is what he reports keeps happening.....
No matter what I do as soon as I open the current issue and go to my column, on the 3rd page where it says "Make Your Personal Weather Apps" when I press where it says "PRESS FOR INTERACTIVE DEMO," the trouble starts. The demo proceeds for 3-4 pages and then crashes, completely wiping out the entire file. Then I have to go back to the home screen and completely download the entire issue again. I've tried this at least six times, and get the same frustrating results every time !!
Are there known issues with orginal iPad 1's and DPS?
Did he think he downloaded the most recent version of the app?
Is there a real problem? That I can fix?
Wait to see if any one else complains?

Looking for trouble shooting help -Connections being dropped from app.

I need a little help in hunting down the source of a problem. We have Oracle 10gR2 (10.2.0.1) running on Solaris 10. The web application is based on WEBLOGIC on another server also running Solaris 10 with a new firewall in between. When started, the application will get 176 connections to the database. Over time, still working on how long, the connections get dropped. The profile they app is connecting to is for unlimited connections and connection time. I do not have an setting to disconnect after idle for x minutes. Even the listener spawned processes die. Other applications from other machines also have problems if idle for a period of time, SQLDeveloper, SQLPlus, TOAD, SQLNAVIGATOR.
We are trying to hunt down the source of the problem but are at a loss. I have checked and verified that the oracle instance does not have a parameter set to kill idle connections for the users the apps are connecting as. The sys admin says there are no unix parameters he knows about on either solaris box that is killing connections and that the firewall settings should not be killing them.
A duplicate environment running all the same versions of software work fine, the only differences between the two is the box and operating system, Sun V120 w/Solaris 8 vs. Sun V40Z w/Solaris 10.
This system goes live in two weeks so we are trying to get this figured out soon. Any hints on where to look or has any one else had similar problems?

Sun would like your help with the "System Name Already In Use" error

A couple of users have reported getting an erroneous "System Name Already in Use" error when re-registering a system after a fresh Solaris re-install. We'd like your help in tracking down this problem.
The scenario is this:
* Install Solaris 10 and register with updatemanager,
* Wipe out the installation and re-install Solaris.
* re-register with updatemanager.
The system erroneously reports that the system name is already in use. It is supposed to detect a duplicate registration of the same system.
We have not been able to reproduce this error in our lab.
If this has happened to you, would you let us know at [email protected]?
Here are the things that we would like to ask of you:
* If you run "updatemanager -debug" if will create a log file /tmp/basicreg<timestamp>.log.
* Details on the exact hardware you have (make/model/configuration).
* Details on the steps you took to get to the bad state. REALLY detailed!

Based on what we know now, we believe you can work around the issue by either:
* Changing the host name and re-registering.
* Creating a different user account and registering the host to that account.
Some previously-posted workarounds are known NOT to work:
* Wait 24 hours and try again.
* Do some "ccr" incantations and try again.

IDSC3 Print Booklet Troubles (need help with Teus's rotatepages.js script)

I've been reading the original Nov '05 thread on this (http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bbd4bb6/17) but I'm having trouble with the script provided.
Very briefly, I'm trying to make a 16-page catalog on letter-sized paper, using half-size 8.5x5.5 pages in landscape format. I did a considerate amount of work on the layout thinking I wouldn't have any problems later on, but when I had a look at the Preview in the Print Booklet setting I completely freaked out -- the Preview builds with the bottom half of each landscaped half-page to the right side of the page!
Based on what I've read so far, the script provided in the earlier thread should be the answer to my headache. But when I run it as directed, I get this Javascript error:
Error number: 21
Error string: Undefined is not an object
Line: 42
Source: pdfpage.parent.rotate(90, Anchorpoint.topLeftAnchor)
This is my first time dabbling with scripts, so this error message dumbfounds me.

It should work, I think, if you make a folder inside the scripts folder called "Version 4.0 Scripts" (without the quotes) and put it in that.

New to MAC -help with previous systems folder -this should be an easy one!

My PowerBook G4 (running Leopard) recently crashed due to some corrupt files, per the Genius Bar. I got it up and running with the Leopard upgrade disc as they recommended. Everything went well and on the HD it created a "Previous Systems" folder and everything is in there... (old applications, documents, etc. ... Now what do I do?
Do I just run the applications (iWork, MS Office, Adobe products, etc.) from that "Previous Systems" folder or should I drag and drop them to the new applications folder, or is it better to delete and reinstall all the programs again? And if I have already opened some of the applications from the Previous Systems" folder will this prevent me from moving them.
I just want to clean up my laptop and keep it simple... What is the safe and easy thing to do?

Need a lot of help with Kinetic Systems 3988 LabView VIs.

I have a Kinetic Systems 3988 CAMAC Crate Controller. I am using the KS3988 LabView 5.1 set of VIs to communicate with the device. I downloaded this set of VIs from the NI web site. I'm new to LabView, so I'm having great difficulty. Virtually all of my commands result in time outs. Has anyone made simple LabView applications using the KS3988 set of VIs? I could really use them.

I was unable to find any helpful application development information on the NI website regarding the 3988 VIs, but I did a search on the Internet for "3988 LabVIEW" (without the quotes) and several webpages came up (some in German) for some companies that seemed to be using the 3988 VIs in their applications. I recommend you perform a web search for more information on resources that could help you with using these VIs.
