Trouble using getLong to get an Oracle Number(8,2) field from ResultSet

I am having trouble using getLong to get an Oracle Number(8,2) field from ResultSet. The error message starts with:
java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError: [exception was kaffe.utilNotImplemented] at oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.DBConversion.NumberBytesToLong(....
and similar messages when I try getString, getDouble, etc. I am able to getString on the VARCHAR and DATE fields but have not been able to access the NUMBER(8,2) fields.

kaffe.utilNotImplemented may be being thrown internally by your JDK.. AFAIK the Kaffe JDK is only JAVA 1.1 compatible and your driver may require JAVA 2.

Using BC4J, Cannot Cast an Oracle Number to a java int

Hi,
I am using bc4j in jdev 9i, version 9.0.2.822. I have a type Row, to get the data from oracle, bc4j, and all work fine, except that I cannot
cast or convert the number returned to an int where I can use it for other java functions.
Is there any way to convert the number, using a wrapper or a function to do so?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Trouble using variable to get mc property

I'm creating a rollover effect for a collection of 12 mcs so
that on mouseover the clip grows a little bit. This involves
locating the x and y coordinates each clip, and to do so I've tried
to farm the job out to a few variables and one function, so that
the onRollOver event simply sets the variables and calls the
function.
It's not working. Flash seems to be implying that I can't use
a variable (string type) to get a property -- ie. variable._x
rather than myInstanceName._x
Is this correct, or is my error elsewhere?
Hope you can help.
(By the way, there will of course be an onRollOut event as
well. Just getting this bit to work first.)

When using brackets to do what you are doing can be
frustrating if you are not aware on how to use them especially when
you start nested movieclips. Below I have several variations on
ways to do it and ways not to do it. I am using a variable ( i ) to
show how it is done by dynamically referencing a movieclip. My
rule-of-thumb are the following when using brackets ( [ ] );
1. Encapsulate ONLY ONE movieclip with brackets.
2. Never have a dot next to the outer left bracket.
3. Always have a dot next to the outer right bracket when
accessing a movieclip’s property.
For the first part of code I have a movieclip on stage with
an instance name of “ball3_mc”. For the second part of
the code I have a movieclip named “ballholder_mc” that
now contains ‘ball3_mc’ inside of it. I hope this

If your database and JDBC driver support it, in order to use the solution that da-alexj has suggested, you need to create a 'scrollable' "ResultSet" -- the javadoc for method "createStatement()" (in class "java.sql.Connection") has more details.
However, I have found with Oracle 8.1.7.4 database and Oracle (thin) JDBC driver, that part of their implementation of the "last()" method (in class "java.sql.ResultSet") is to actually iterate through the entire "ResultSet" in order to reach the last row. If your "ResultSet" is very large (I tested it with a 100,000 row "ResultSet"), this will take a long time.
Just wanted to make you aware of that.
Of-course, this may be irrelevant to you since I didn't see any mention in your post of what database and JDBC driver you are using.

Get the Last Value of Status Field from SQL TABLE using SQL 2008

I have a table with Fields such as
UploadstartTime, UploadEndtime, STATUS From TBLA.
The STATUS Field, has values =7 and 11 are failed and 12 is SUCCESS. I cannot do a max, since it will always show 12, I need to get the MAX(UPLOADENDTIME, and get STATUS For that record. How can I do that using 1 SQL Query?
My current code is: The issue is

Having the serial number does no good. Apple does not attempt to track lost devices by serial number. Of course if you are trying to fill out an insurance form for reimbursement of a stolen device, then that is another matter. It all depends on where you bought the device. The seller would have to have a record of the sales, one that includes the serial number. Contact the seller. Better still, search for your receipt.

When I try to watch movies on FF using Netflix I get a private browsing error preventing me from doing so even though I do not have private browsing activated/turned on. Solutions?

When I try to play a movie on Netflix I get an error telling me that Firefox's private browsing mode is restricting Netflix from storing settings on my computer.
The suggests were to click the Tools menu and select private browsing. My private browsing was not activated.
Or to click the Tools menu at the top of the browser and select Options, then Privacy and then Remember history. This setting was also as it should.
Additionally, I went into the history and made sure the permanent private browsing was unchecked and I cleared all cookies. Still Netflix is not working.
I called Netflix and they say that everything is streaming correctly from their end and it is this computer. I can watch Netflix on other computers or my TV on this network but not this computer.
I am at a loss at how to disengage private browsing when the private browsing does not appear to be engaged.

I had this problem as well, just right click on the error, and click Silverlight, go to the Application Storage tab, and check enable application storage located on the bottom left corner. Your movies should play after that. If that doesn't work uninstall then reinstall Silverlight, make FF remember history and make sure application storage is enabled on Silverlight.

How do you use the windows User32.dll Library functions to read variables from other applications that are running

I am trying to read a text box from a programme running at the same time as my Labview application using calls to the Windows
User32.dll. I believe I need to find the window handle for the 'form' containing this text string and use this together with
various other defined input variables to access the sting.
I have no experience of using this 'Call Library Function Node', but have an understanding of the 'C' programming language. Does anyone have
example Labview code showing how this might be done.

If you're trying to access information that's being displayed in the window of another application and that application has no ActiveX interface, then yes, Windows calls can be used. There's a very good example on calling DLLs that ship with LabVIEW. Open the Example Finder (Help->Find Examples) and switch to the Search tab. Enter "Call" in the search box and open the VI "Call DLL". Run the VI, select any of the examples, and click the "Open Example VI..." button. That shows you how to call a DLL.
Now, given that you have no experience in calling DLLs, have only an "understanding" of C (which to me means you have never written something like a DLL), and don't seem to know that much about what Windows functions you may need, you're going to find this route pretty difficult, especially since you have to deal with Windows API calls, which are not always that easy to do from LabVIEW.
Let me propose an alternate solution. Go over to http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/ and download AutoIt. This is an automation tool that allows you to automate just about anything you want. It has an ActiveX interface that you can call from LabVIEW. I've attached an example VI that shows you how to use it to get the value of a text box from one of the tabs in the computer "System Properties" control panel applet.

Pre-Hire process to get an employee number from Oracle

Does anyone know of a solution that has been done to implement a so called Pre-hire process where you can get an initial Oracle employee number assigned before the person is actually entered into the system? For instance, if you hire someone in 2 weeks, but you use the Oracle employee number to also setup email, computers, etc. prior to them starting so that they have what they need on the first day of work. We use the Oracle employee number as our employee number to set up a multitude of things but we do not always get the person in the system soon enough to get an employee number. Can anyone shed some light on what others are doing?

We are looking at modifying the Self-Service screens to only put in the minimum required data but we need to do a Correction the second time we go into the screen to correct the rest of the data. Has anyone done this?
