Trouble with deleting files

I have many files in the trash that is locked files. So I cannot empty my trash without unlocking them. How can I unlock all the files without having to unlock them separately? That will take very long time..

I'm not sure if I understand completely what your problem is, but...
Just try unlocking a few, and see what happens. I had a problem like this a while back, I only "unlocked" the first one and didn't do anything for the rest (even though it keeps asking you)... and it worked! So just try... otherwise, if you could explain a little better, we could understand a little better.

Why does Java have so much trouble with deleting files

So, I've been doing alot more code on the file-level and have been noticing that Java is really terrible at deleting files. This should be rather straightforward, but the delete method can fail in so many ways, it's unbelievable. Even with taking special care to close all streams, it will sometimes just not do it, or even return a "Yes I've deleted it" result and the file is still there! (deleteOnExit() suffers the same affliction)
This problem is even scuttling the otherwise trusty Ant, which is really annoying. Ever seen this? "BUILD FAILED: Could not delete 'myproject.jar'" So any Ant-driven automated build-and-test process can fail because of this super-avoidable error. (We have to code a pre-build-jar-deletion shell script, which is annoying when jars are added/deleted/renamed for whatever reason.)
Does anyone know the reason for this? I'm really curious.
Maybe, in 1.5, they will come out with "File.crushAndDestroyWithMercilessPrejudice()". I'd use it all of the time! :)

I had the same problem when I was working with JAI. I had about a half million images that I made a viewer for, which would allow our users to do away with microfiche. Project worked great, but the files wouldn't delete off the user box (Win2K). I checked everything and they just would not delete--windows would not acknowlege the resources had been released by Java.
I finally took a lesson from MS developers and said: "It's not a bug, it's a feature!" I wrote it into the manual that it was a cache feature and would speed-up access to the images, yet delete the old ones (which it did, any images that were not accessed during the session would delete just fine, while any that were accessed would still be there next time for local access rather than hitting the network for them. The cache turned out to be one of the great features of the application.
On the other hand, I've not had any problems deleting files from Linux.

Troubles with xmp files not loading...

I'm having troubles with xmp files not loading with images but are present in the image folders. does anyone know why this is happening and if there is a way to fix this. Also when trying to load the xmp individually they are grayed out and unable to load. I have tried this on different machines (Macs) and still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated in this issue.

Aww, yuck!! That's a real drag...
When editing lots of files (yesterday's shoot produced 8GB) I back everything up to off-line storage and then, after doing all my edits and crops in ACR, I only have to copy over the small XMP files which takes no time at all.
So if I re-edit the DNG with ACR I have to re-copy ALL the files again to the off-line storage.
I used to sometimes even save 2 versions of the xmp files when I needed 2 different crops of the same images, such as doing a wide screen 'cinema' crop for a corporate client's Intranet presentation of their event, as well as more standard crops to be used for their newsletters.
Guess I won't be using DNG any more..

Having trouble with wav files and sample rates

Hi ,I am having trouble with wav files and sample rates .I have been sent multiple projects on wav as the main instrumental ; I wish to record in 48.000kHz .Now comes the problem.When I try to change the project to 48k It seems to pitch up the track.I can't have them send the logic/project file as most have outboard synths,different plug ins etc.This particular case the producer has recorded the synth task in 41.000 kHz .My successful outcome would be to be able t create a project file in 48 kHz .And NOT pitch up whne I add the instrumenta wav file .Any help would be gratefully recieved,this is my first post so any mistakes I may have made go easy

You'll have to convert the actual synth audio file file that the producer gave you to 48kHz. You can do this in the audio Bin in Logic.

Problem with deleting files !!

I want to delete file, but for some extensions it is not possible, how can I delete all files?

myFile.delete();

How about the return value from your delete call, is it "true"? What happens when you try to delete the file via your OS? Why do you seem to think that this behavior is specific to certain file extensions? Which extensions are you having trouble with?
Sorry for all the questions. Just as a guess, I think the most common reason for a delete call not to work on a Windows box is because the file is in use by some other program - an editor, or maybe a web server. Trying to delete the file via the OS might give you a better idea of why it's not deleting.

Trouble with extracting file for Flash Professional cs5.5 because of error occurring??

Im having trouble extracting the file as it has fully downloaded but then it comes up with a warning box which says The following disk images could not be opened and then an image and reason with this below it FlashPro_11_5_LS1.dm error -4960 not to sure what to do about this??

Which operating system are you using? If you look in the Adobe Download Assistant is it still downloading the install files?

Troubles with .m1v Files

Hi All
I am having trouble working with .m1v files in Adobe Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9.
I exported the .m1v (video only mpeg files) in Adobe Premiere Pro with the Adobe Media Encoder.
But now, when I try to add metadata to these .m1v files by right clicking on one- the right click menu no longer has file info as an option. And further, under the file menu- file info is grayed out when a .m1v file is selected. I also tried selecting the .m1v file and clicking in the IPTC core dialogue box, but when I do this, Bridge gives me an error box that reads: "This property cannot be modified"
Any Ideas???

It's simpler to just reinstall the OS, followed by running Software Update. Reinstalling shouldn't take too long and only replaces the system components and the basic Apple apps, leaving all settings and other files alone.

Trouble with music file

I'm trying to listen to a music program which they place in an archive. When I click on the "Window" icon it opens to the following window. I've chosen iTunes and Real Player without success.

In Firefox, try right-clicking or Control-clicking on the Windows link -- the one below "Available 12:05 a.m. Sunday until the next show" is the one I used. When the contextual menu appears select "Save Link As..." A Save As window should popup with "swingyears.asx" already populated, along with your default Save-to location, which might be the Desktop. Go ahead and hit Save.
You should now see a downloaded 4KB .asx file on your Desktop (or in your default download folder). This file points to the archived stream. Try double clicking on the file to open it using your default application for the .asx file type. If double-clicking on the .asx file fails, try right-clicking or Control-clicking on the file and select Open With > VLC. You can also try right-clicking on it and choose Open With > QuickTime Player and see what happens.
I had no trouble opening the file using QuickTime Player, Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, or VLC. Good luck!

Hi, well im quite new to this but im having major problems with deleting pictures. Im able to delete the ones i have took from my ipod but cant delete the ones i have synced from the laptop to my ipod. Also i can view them on the ipod and not on the laptop. If anywan can help it would be more than appreciated. Thanks :-(

Thanks that really helped, well iv got another problem now. When i go on photos im able to see my pictures i put in my ipod through the laptop 'ipod cache photos' which im happy about but iv got another folder called 'photo library' with the exact pictures as 'ipod cache photos'. Now i wanted to know what folder is meant to be there and also how to delete the one thats not meant to be there. Thanks

Trouble with Deleting Table Headers

Hi NI community,
I need your help with deleting the row headers of a table.
The first time the program runs everything is OK.
However, when the user sets a new number of tests and clicks the ‘Run Again’ button the old row headers not only are not being deleted but the new ones are appended under them.
I would like the entire table, headers including, to be deleted and the new results to be displayed starting from the top of the table.
I am attaching a sample program.

You need to initialize your first shift register )inside the first sequence frame).
Even better, simply use autoindexing to create the array, no shift register needed.
Also note that writing the header does not belong in a loop, writing them once is sufficient. Use the proper datatypes. For example the number of trials is an integer. You have way too many unecessary local variables and sequence structures. most are not needed.

Problems with deleting files to the trash

I cant delet files to the trash. The only option is to delet permanently.

Following an update of Friefox to version 5.0 I have had trouble with a file which was deemed malicious by AVG antivirus software, the file is ASC.EXE - is this file part of my update, or do I have a virus which needs deleting?

Firefox does not seem to have fully updated, so I suspect that this file which has been blocked by AVG anti-virus is an element of the update (it was created around 10 minutes after the update began).
Most of my programmes fail to launch while this file is in the virus vault, e.g. Microsoft Word and iTunes, I have an error message which says the files are
Is such an ASC.EXE file part of the update?
I have done some online research into this file type and do not wish to remove it from the virus vault until I am sure it is not a trojan, which seems possible from the sites I have visited.

I am having trouble with attaching files in my gmail

After downloading the most recent version of Firefox I began having trouble attaching files in my gmail. I am now unable to attach files and get getting the same attachment failed message.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache

On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here (this will log you out)
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Some sites use a Flash-based uploader. Have you noticed any other issues with Flash (audio/video issues)? There are some compatibility issues between the latest Flash player and some Firefox add-ons or settings. Could you see whether anything in this article helps: [[Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox]].

I am having trouble with pic files...

My 2010 pictures are on an external hard drive and when I try to open them on my iMac...there is an icon of the iPhoto preview and the file number but says it is empty when I try to open it...
I have no idea what I have done! its like a years worth of pictures...
the other weird thing is that there are thumbs (I thought I could delete them when I brought my files from my pc to my iMac).
I don't use the iPhoto for my pictures...don't think that would matter...I use Lightroom for organizing.
I am a bit freaked out so I may not be communicating well...I am going to take a screen shots..
If anyone knows what I can do about this...I would appreciate it very much...
